Having travelled to Lido in 2006 and being disappointed with the accommodation at the nearby Cambridge Hotel, we were very impressed with this Hotel. The beach front location is excellent, accommodation spacious and clean and the hotel staff most welcoming. The evening meal... more

I recently arrived home after staying in the Ambasciatori Palace for two weeks. Me and my boyfriend had previously read some negative reviews about the hotel, so were unsure what to expect. However, when we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised! Everything about this... more

This fantastic hotel is in a very good location, on the beach and near the shops/bars. Rooms are a little small, but comfortable and are cleaned daily. The staff are all really friendly and make you feel really welcome, large selection of fresh food at break-fast and... more

This 5* hotel was very impressive. My room was spacious, a single room (with a double bed) and even a Jacuzzi tub. After a very hot and humid day it was nice to retire here. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar, lounge and patio area was also very relaxing.... more

Worn Out
We were booked at the Ambasciatori Palace by the Marriott Rewards program which has reciprocity with this hotel. We were told that this was a 5 star property comparable to Marriott's Grand Flora and that "Mr. Marriott has stayed at this hotel." We were charged the maximum rewards points possible. This is no more than a 3-star property. If Mr. Marriott stayed there, he wasn't in room 207! The furniture was in terrible condition with dirty, stained, thread bare upholstery and cushions that were totally flat. There was mold and mildew on the bathroom ceiling and walls that had been painted over but was still visible through the paint. The stains were 2 to 3 feet long and 6 to 12 inches wide! The finish on the wooden floor was badly worn and there was an area where the floor was buckled. Everything about this hotel, not just our room, is worn out. We were grateful that the bed linens were clean and the employees were pleasant though not particularly helpful or friendly. If we had paid money we would have complained to the management. Now our complaint is with the Marriott rewards people and we are lifetime platinum rewards members!
Very Dissapointed
We liked the ambasciatori when we first arrived the room was pleasant and large and the bathroom was nice, the only problem is my husband had bought me a gucci bag and wallet w2hile we were in italy, so they give you the large gucci shopping bag and put your stuff in nice gucci boxes, well i of course started using my new bag and wallet and left the shoppuing bag with boxes in it in the room well when we came back to our room one day the bag with the boxes were gone and when we reported it they said the maid said she never saw a bag, well obviously she is lying, , this left a bad taste in my mouth and i do not reccomend anyone staying here, if my real bag was still in the box it would be gone.....also the hotel staff wasnt very sympathetic to the situation, another problem was we told them upon arrival that we were honeymooners and they gave us a room with two twin beds......
Forget about it
What a disaster, the coleseum is in better shape, where is managment Not friendly. mildew in rooms jkaye
Not a friendly place
Our group had booked months in advance. When we got to the hotel our rooms were not ready. My roomate and I payed for an upgrade and did not get an upgrade. We saw other rooms that others in our group had that did not pay for the upgrade and their rooms were twice as large. So apparently the front desk did not check any of our reservations. They clearly had an arrogant attitude when asked a question. Being in a tourist area you would think they would have some friendliness especially since this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. It is NOT! We had arranged for a dinner in a private room for our group .... the three waiters were very nice and friendly! Probably the only employees in the hotel that cracked a smile. Breakfast was so-so and again no smiling greetings. Go somewhere else where you feel welcome because you won't feel that way here.
How to ruin a beautiful hotel!
This a beautiful hotel, poorly managed with a terrible attitude towards its guests, especially once the staff creates a problem. My wife and I stayed there for four nights in May, 2006; first they gave us a room with a mattress that was totally unusable, they sent a porter who did not speak English to investigate and took over an hour to decide to give us another room. At no time were we contacted to let us know what was occurring, I had to make every contact. No one from the front desk or management ever inquired as to the resolution of the problem. The next morning when I asked to speak to the general manager, I was told he would see me, but instead I got to talk to the assistant general manager who assured me the gerneral manager would contact me later that day. Never happened. They sent a bowl of fruit to the room.. Three of the 4 nights no turn down service. They made a reservation for us at a restaurant and when we arrived the reservation did not exist even though the hotel assured us it did confirm. Taxi ride to and from for nothing, concierge said restaurant made a mistake and we could go back if we wanted. I complained twice about internet connection not working and finally they identified faulty TV, still charged for service even though they said they would not. Only provided two towels each day and had to call for additional toiletries because of lack of turn down service.
So-So
I stayed at the Ambasciatori Palace the first week of April 2006, thought it was nothing great, and that the comments here were correct. It is definitely not 5 Stars, or even 4. My room was bare, the bed was somewhat hard, and there were a lot of smudge marks on the walls. Nice, newly refinished bathroom. It was quite warm in Rome, but because it was not yet Summer they had not yet turned on the air conditioning, so we had to deal with the heat; conversely, when we arrived the vaunted heated towel racks were working, but then they turned them off because it was now Spring not Winter. The hotel staff was efficient but brusque and not exactly warm and friendly. They recommended a nearby restaurant for dinner, which turned out to be just ok and quite expensive. It is indeed a business hotel, and quite expensive-a bottle of water and one drink in the bar cost 14 Euros, which was excessive. If you want to stay in the American section of Rome, the Via Veneto, then this will do for a business meeting, but if you want a comfortable place near tourist and Italian things, this isn't it.
A 5 star hotel?-I don't think so!
Stayed for 4 nights. Hotel well located for up market shopping and eating. However, lacking facilities of a London based 5 star hotel. Expensive poor quality breakfast, (22 euros pp). In rooms facing inner courtyard, (coverd in a plastic roof)you hear every drop of rain that falls! Bar area very little used, Staff friendly but aloof.
Disappointed - In my opinion, certainly not a 5 Star
This hotel is not in my opinion a 5* grade. There are no facilities to speak of and the rooms are basic and relatively small. The staff were friendly and the hotel is in an excellent location.
Great location, not really 5 star luxury...
This hotel is more of a business hotel then a "wonderful luxury hotel" that they state on the internet. The location is great and is walking distance to all the main places such as Spanish Steps. We stayed there for 6 days in mid August so it 's consider low season and we got a great discount. If I had to pay the average high price I would feel ripped off. The rooms are basic, nothing fancy and definetly not luxurious but it was comfortable and the bathroom was very good. As for the staff, they are efficient, don't expect them to be very friendly but I think it's a italian thing. In general the hotel is good but not what you would expect for a 5 star hotel. I booked this hotel through WRH hotels network and once you do a booking you have the option to use the WRH car pick up service for 47 euro. I booked the car service and they were 30 minutes late at the airport. The second time I booked a car pick up they were 45 minutes late. So my advise to you is to just get a taxi and make sure the meter is on, the cost is about 40-45 euro. The car pick up service is unorganized and is annoying when your tired and just want to get to your hotel. Karen
Overpriced
Room was prison like. Bathroom was above average. A jack daniels and a vodka tonic at the bar cost me 45 bucks. Good walking location. 3 star at best.
