Astir Palace Aphroditi Hotel

My wife and I stopped here on our honeymoon as a bit of a city siesta from trips to Rome and Florence and time spent in Athens proper. For those purposes, the Vouliagmeni was wonderful. We were upgraded to a junior suite which featured a large (room-width) walk-out balcony, a wonderful bathroom set up -- bedroom width double shower stall, separate jacuzzi, separate toilet, two bathrooms, two tvs, a minibar and nice (minimalist) furniture. The Westin Astir Palace Beach Resort is located about 30 minutes from the center of Athens. From the Airport, it was about 20 euros by taxi (assuming you get a Taxi that is fair) and also about 18-20 euros to central Athens. The hotel is a beach resort, in some respects located a bit off the beaten path. The pool is very nice, and there is also a small sandy beach open to the ocean next to the pool. This is a beautiful resort - lovely rooms, fantastic service, amazing food and views. I would not recommend this hotel to someone who wanted to be in the thick of things in town - the hotel is about 30 minutes outside of the center by car. It is, however, a great place to stay to relax by the sea.

This was a great resort to relax in after a day in Athens. The location is about an hour outside the city but the atmosphere is well worth it. All rooms have ocean views. The private pool and lagoon area is great. The hotel personnel spoke English but very fast and somewhat hard to understand. They have a free shuttle that will take you to Athens at 9am and take you back at 3pm. For a short visit to Athens, this was a wonderful place to stay.
