" Antigoni apartments......on arrival... "

Antigoni apartments......on arrival we (ie my hubby two sons age 5 and 15 and daughters 10 and 8) were met by Dimitri and Joanna,-- two of the nicest people you could meet, and shown to our (very basic) rooms---right beside the lovely pool. the kids were delighted and loved every minute of the time here in antigoni. i felt it was a really safe place for kids, and everyone was so nice and friendly to us.
the only prob was the damn mosquitos, but then they were everywhere, my husband arrived home looking like he'd a bad case of chicken pox.
the food was excellent, and all cooked by joanna, we sometimes had to wait for ages to get the food, but we knew it was always worth the wait.
Lakis, Dimitri's brother called by several times too and he was very entertaining, he also works in Pheobus---a really good restaurant, where we ate a few times, he even treated the kids to free icecreams.
rooms were cleaned every second day, and towels changed.
overall we were very impressed , but i only give 9 points because, on the day we left at 9.45 am there was noone there to make breakfast for us and as a result we had to eat in the airport, which was not only disgusting but cost us an arm and a leg...apart from this we are looking forward to going back to visit again...soon we hope.xxx

" Its grand for a last minute... "

Its grand for a last minute holiday...but here are a few things to watch out for. Its is very small apartment complex.... airconditioning is 50Euro a week. Towels are hand towels so make sure to bring your own for after your shower etc. Hard to get food in restaurant as it takes soooo long ..... even getting water is hard!!! Restaurant is not very clean or tidy. There is no reception or anything like that...theres a farm next door to it and a rooster is screaming its head off the minute it starts to get bright which can be very annoying. Other than that people in the apartments were great crack. Corfu was good aswell..... full of italians no much irish. Defo not a holiday for a group of lads cos there are no girls over there just so you know.........

" I loved staying in the Antigoni... "
Submitted By: Miss AH
I loved staying in the Antigoni Apartments, myself and eight of my friends spent a fantastic week there. We had endless fun and most nights didn't get in until about six in the morning or later in some cases! We came in quietly and no-one said a word. It was just what you could ask for on a leaving Cert holiday. Lots of cheap drink and food and constant sunshine.
For dinner I would definitely recommend the Pirgi Palace restaurant located directly beside the Antigoni. The food's great and really cheap and the manager's a great laugh! We also all loved Lackos, the manager's brother, and even invited into our small parties in one of our apartments!
Lackos also works in the Phoevus restaurant located at the start of the seafront strip(the opposite end to the antigoni), the food's lovely but a bit more expensive.
If some Italian tries to follow you home to the Antigoni and tries to accompany you to your room, don't worry, the night-guard will not allow you to bring any guests in with you and will, consequently, get rid of any visitors! We felt extremely safe, at home and relaxed in the vacinity of the Antigoni!
The pool is nice, but a bit small! We did see that it was cleaned every night! We tried lying by the pool for the first day but it just gets too hot. As there is very little breeze flowing inland, your best bet is heading down to the stony beach for the day where there's usually a lovely afternoon breeze.
Definitely bring at least two towels with you. One shower towel and one beach towel. The towels you get in the Antigoni merely serve as hand towels. That would be my only complaint and I'm not even really complaining.
Demand free shots in every pub you go into and you'll get them! Also, definitely go to the foam party in Hectors Nightclub! It's unreal!!!
Also, our Budget Travel rep., was not very helpful! He's a liar and he's just trying to con you for your money! The Party night's rubbish! Don't go! Do the boat trip and perhaps water park but nothing else!
That's all I have to say really. Definitely stay in the Antigoni, it's a laugh!!!

Antigoni Apartments were nice. The rooms are basic, 2 beds, couple of wardrobes and a stove. The water from the shower is just protected by a little shower curtain which has to be strategically placed so not to drench your floor.

The only thing that annoyed me was lack of clean towels, we had to chase the staff twice about it. The apartments are mainly young Irish people, which we fund good fun. There is no reception but you can usually find one or two of the family owners wandering around who can help you.

Its well located just off the main strip of Ipsos night life. Pirgi Palace is the restaurant just beside the apartments who have the same owners, the manager is hilarious. Food isn’t expensive except for going for Chinese (which isn’t even that expensive). Local drinks, shots and cocktails are the cheapest and Smirnoff ice etc costs about €4.50.

I would recommend staying at the Antigoni if your going with a young crowd and not bothered by a bit of noise at night (or the flipping roosters who cockerel all hours of the morning). <br>

Let me start from the beginning, all the connections worked well, and we were duly met at the airport by the cheerful agent, employed by Spirit of Greece, or whatever your arrangement is? We were taken by taxi to the apartment, and when we arrived, the owners were still inside, and appeared to be still cleaning up? We said very cheery hello's and they left us alone. We first noticed the terribly stained carpets / mats? and then looked at the beds, that had clean linen on, but the towels were threadbare and looked about 30 years old. On my inspection of the bathroom??? It is probably the wrong word to use, but the shower curtain was very badly stained all around the bottom, and the antiquated hand held shower was exactly that. No attachment that you could stand under, just a very old hand held shower and so small. It all looked very tired, and in need of a complete overhaul, and the toilet did not flush, and the interior of the toilet, really needed a good bleaching, so it was not nice at all. One of the bulbs by the side of the bathroom mirror, was not working and I started to get a bad feeling about it all.
As the owners were still in the vicinity, I called them to sort out the toilet, which they did, and then they left. They had placed a welcome loaf on a bread board as a welcoming gesture plus orange juice, bottle of red wine?? and a carton of milk. I phoned the rep straight away, to tell her about the towel situation, mats etc, and she said that she would be up to check it all, but she did not arrive. We took the pillow cases off the pillows just to check, and our worst ears were confirmed, there were stains all over the casings, and again these were so so old. No pillow protectors here, and these things should all be in place, as you really should look forward to a nice shower in a clean environment, but the curtain and towels did not fill me with any desire at all, it made you feel yucky and unclean. All the plumbing had to be turned off nightly by the mains, to prevent a continual dripping sound from occurring throughout the night, and easily preventing a sound sleep, as it really is so quiet there, which is brilliant, and exactly what we were looking for, but the dripping could have driven you crazy, especially if you were not aware, or able to deal with the appliances.
I went to use the bread, and there were tiny ants all milling around it, and inside it so straight away I threw it outside onto the balcony. When the owner came back she found the bread etc outside, and started howling at me in Greek, and through sign language told me that I should have put it in the bread bin provided above the fridge. I held my hands up and said ok. I went down to the bakers to buy bread and on the nighttime I wrapped the remaining loaf in two polythene bags, and placed it into the bread bin on top of the fridge like she said. In the morning I unwrapped the bread and to my amazement it was infested with ants, and on inspection of the bread bin, It confirmed to me that that was indeed where they had come from, so that got thrown out straight away onto the balcony along with the bread board. They arrived that morning and she started remonstrating about the bread bin, and I told her it was infested, and I did not want it in the apartment, but she was shouting in Greek, and we could not understand her, as she started holding the towels etc and saying in English...Its ok, Its ok, and I said firmly No..it is not ok, and then I started to show her the honey stained plate, that had been just placed on top of the remaining plates by the previous occupants I guess? and it almost made me want to throw up, as I was just going to use it, and subsequently had to look at every item in the cupboards, just to make sure that they were all clean. I showed her into the bathroom area to ask where the smell was coming from? and to show them that there was a really dirty coloured tissue covering a hole where this sewage smell was appearing to come from into the toilet, I pointed out the stained shower curtain in the bathroom, the broken bulb, the badly stained mats that were in both bedrooms and the kitchen, the disgusting grease stained hob and interior, which had been used to roast or toast stuff but had not been cleaned, and as I started cleaning it, and the black grease that came off of it onto her washing up cloth ...she really did not like to see that at all. Again Health and Safety would have had a field day, as the electrical connection to the hob/grill was open into the wall, mobile, and very live, and indeed an accident waiting to happen. I showed them outside the barbeque, which had not been cleaned at all, and it just looked disgusting, even the family downstairs left it alone, and bought mobile barbeque trays from a supermarket that were easily disposable. I pointed out the disgusting and badly stained table downstairs, that is supposedly for use, to eat the said barbequed food on, once it is cooked. I showed them the broken umbrellas, and the mobile ladder for entry into the pool, and also how dirty the pool water was.
When we got back into the apartment the male owner really changes and he takes over and asks me, how much money I paid for the week? to which I replied 630 pounds, and he humphed, and started to shout at me that the previous weeks had paid over a thousand, and did not complain, and if I do not like his house? I should just go. Leave my house now, he shouted, and his wife was remonstrating in Greek trying to placate him, as he was clearly losing it, and he was certainly no diplomat, and if he had handed me the money there and then, please believe me I would have walked straight away. You do not need this at the start of a holiday and we were stuck there. The Rep was duly informed, and by the morning newish mats had replaced the old stained ones, also newer towels, and they had replaced the badly stained tissue that was covering the hole in the bathroom, but that was all. The broken umbrellas were removed, and the bases were taped over, so that they could not be used from that moment on, so really we were at the mercy of being burnt by the sun, but there was bad weather for the next three days, and to be honest, we did not use the pool, as it was too dangerous, and indeed dirty. To reiterate I have photographic evidence to back all this up. I spoke to the rep about moving but apparently there was nothing available, and that would have wasted at least another half a day, maybe more?
We did not receive another further change of towels during the week, and they did not collect any rubbish from the apartment, which they did on the first two days. A nightmare of a holiday for us, in conditions that were totally unacceptable. A real shame, as the views were stunning, and it was so quiet and Loggos was a charming little port. I will send you through the photos, if you require them? and I am sure that I will post this up on the two sites that you mention on your website, to allow people to know the real truth about this place, and to let people, especially elderly ones, know just how difficult they would find it, getting up and down, that badly lit donkey trail very late at night? We are both fit and in shape but we even found it tough, especially after three visits up and down during the course of a day. Your descriptions on your website of the apartments, compared to the reality of the situation are so far apart, it has to be changed, as you are misleading people, and we are not at all happy, as with flights and spending money it is a very very expensive holiday. I cannot see how you can pay any compensation either? as you can guess I am not at all happy with this whole situation and maybe this is only the tip of the iceberg?
Something else we noticed, that certainly did not affect us, as there were only two of us, was that a family of four would not have enough room on that balcony, to sit around the one table that was there, as there simply isn't enough room. Spirit of Greece as a company know that it is their business to sell these villas/ apts and make them sound and look so attractive and we fell for it, and it just is not fair, so I am doing all I can to bring it to the notice of unsuspecting visitors to the Antigoni Apartments.
Advice: beautful and quiet
Activities: well there are only about 6 in total
Good for: Beach
We are very sorry that Warman did not enjoy his stay at the Antigoni Apartments (in Paxos not Ipsos). They are simple two bedroom apartments in a lovely position with gorgeous views and a large pool. We have featured them since 1996 and have had many positive reviews, some of which can be seen on the testimonials page of our web site. The apartments are cleaned three times per week and the pool every other day. Unfortunately Paxos endured a spell of bad weather before and during Warmans stay and storms had broken the umbrellas and also blown dust, dirt and leaves into the pool. The bad weather continued for much of the week making it difficult to keep the pool clean and we were unable to replace the umbrellas that week for which we apologise. There is, however, plenty of natural shade provided by surrounding trees. Shower curtains, bath mats and towels are easily replaced and should be automatically when they fall below a certain standard. It was the last week of the season and maybe it was thought they could last just another week. The towels and mats were replaced when asked. We disagree that our website description and photos are misleading but are confident that they paint a true picture of what clients can expect at Antigoni. Our agents have an office on Loggos harbour front and are there to sort out any problems with any of our Paxos properties should they occur. Don’t be put off by this review – there are many, many more couples and families who have had a lovely holiday at these apartments.
