Unlike the last reviewer we found the staff very helpful, especially when we need to change a tour we'd booked and being allowed to go back to our room when our transfer didn't turn up, they even phone to chase it for us. The bar staff were also great. The location was good... more

NASSIM HOTEL IS A NIGHTMARE... If you are looking for a take it or leave it kind of hotel; a place where concerns and issues are apparently never addressed or communicated by any of their staff - then Nassim is your ticket. Perhaps our multiple room request changes were... more

Dont Bother
Although staff were very friendly and helpful the hotel itself was far from ideal. The rooms were dark and dingy as was the bar area, not for swimmers the pool area seemed to be permantly shaded and the water very cold. The food in the restaurant was nothing special, on two occassion we had to return the meals because they were cold. Must improve before i would even consider going back.
You pay for what you get here
We have just returned from Marrakesh today. We had read the reviews before we left but we were on a budget so we still went ahead with the above hotel. There were 3 receptionists - all who spoke very good English. Avoid talking to the really young male receptionist, he literally made prices and times up! We wished we had listened to the person who did the review beforehand when it came to booking the trips. We booked 2 trips with the hotel. THIS WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. The first trip was to the Atlas Mountains. We were not told that we were going to be in the minibus for 4 hours. We were not told that food was not included. We were also not told about the additional payment of having to pay the guide when we got to the waterfalls. The second trip was to the big Morrocan extravaganza show which was £50. We were told that this was the main thing to do in Marakesh and would be the highlight of our trip. We were told that the whole evening included a wide variety of food (which was suitable for vegetarians), all alcohol and transport. However, when we arrived, none of the food was suitable for vegetarians other than the bread and all the drinks (alcoholic and soft drinks) were not included. All the drinks were vastly over priced and the cheapest bottle of red wine was about £15. Basically I paid £25 to eat some bread and see 10 mins of belly dancing by some overweight women who should really think about a more suitable profession. As for the actual hotel, it was ok. If you are a sun seeker, this hotel is not for you as the outside area only gets the sun for 90 mins in the afternoon. Breakfast was really nice and had a range of food for all nationalities. The rooms were advertised as having a minibar, but our room did not. We found the room to be clean, but it was a bummer having to push the beds together every evening, even though we had booked a double bed. Nothing major. Decor was dated and was not a traditional Morrocoan hotel.
Don't botherwith the Nassim!
Hotel Nassim is ok if you want to stay in the new part of town (the part with little atmosphere and the part that doesn't look like the pictures and postcards) and useful if you want reception staff that speak reasonable English. However, BEWARE!! Do not go on the excursions that the hotel book for you...the cost an absolute fortune and are VERY different from what they describe them to be. You will find yourself stuck on a minibus for almost 8 hours worth of driving just to have 4 hours at your destination. (Hint - this took longer and cost four times more than just getting on the public bus in central Marrakech) The rooms at first glance are quite pleasant but on closer glance you will see the flaws: lipstick coated towels, cigarette burns, filthy floors (don't even think about putting the white shower mat on the bathroom floor) and things 'hloding things together'. Breakfast is supposed to be served form 6am to 11am but go down at 6.45am and the room is in darkness and no food available. Go down at 10.00am and all the food has been eaten and the waiters won't put any more out. One day when I did get breakfast I got a thick, black hair in my butter and a piece of plastic in my roll. As I say, if you have more money than sense and are not a 'confident' traveller - go to Nassim, it is new-town central and sort-of English-speaking but not one I would recommend anybody go to.
Not quite 4 star! But well located to see the sights.
Stayed in Marrakech for 4 days and LOVED IT! As always you need to be organised and have done your research on culture and local do's and don'ts. Use the Tourist hop on hop off bus to get your bearings and help you decide what you really want to see. (the market is a must!) Hotel Nassim has a kind of faded glory decoration - not dirty just not well kept. ie: Towels were ripped and carpet well worn. Staff were friendly and helpful, room service was basic but quick. Be aware that the hotel has a policy of no drinks or food purchased outside the hotel being brought into the rooms. This includes bottled water. The bar area was pleasant with a little dipping pool in the middle. We did half board as we've not been to Marrakech before, hotel restaurant was clean and service was good but the food was faux french and not so good. Would probably not go to Hotel Nassim again but only because we'd like to be based nearer old town.
Dated hotel, in need of refurbishment
Stayed for one night in July 06. Having previously stayed at the Medina and Spa Hotel in Marrakech, this hotel was very disappointing. Rooms were poorly lit with dated decor and furnishings. The rooms and corridors reeked of stale cigarette smoke. In fact, even the tiny lifts had ash trays. Rooms and bathrooms are in need of refurbishment. The room and bathroom were not very clean, with various stains on the carpet and toilet. The rooms were very dark and made it feel depressing. (Pictures I took had flash enabled so rooms look brighter than they were). Compared to other 4 stars this was not of the expected standard. For only £2 more per night, I'd much rather recommend the Atlas Medina and Spa hotel which is a far superior 5 star hotel.
loved it !
We stayed here for a weekend break, and were pleasantly delighted with the cleanliness, service and prices. The staff could not do enough for us, and were very helpful regarding tours, taxis, restaurants etc. Although the hotel is situated on the busy main road, the double glazing ensured peace and quiet, but also much entertainment was gained by purely watching from the window down at the street below. Although there was no mini bar, room service was reasonable and quick. The pool was small, but very clean, and the terrace was very well maintained, ideal for a beer to relax after a days sightseeing. We would definitely return here again.
Nassim was great
We stayed in Nassim hotel for a week in May 06. I would highly recommed it for the price. The hotel is in a good location in the new town but in reasonable walking distance from the centre of Marrakech. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was pleasantly decorated and very quiet with the double glazed window shut dispite being on a main road. There was a fridge and much needed air conditioning. The pool/roof terrece is small, so if you want to spend your holiday next to the pool go somewhere else, but we used it a couple of times during our stay and thought it very pretty. Marrakech was a brilliant city for a holiday and I look forward to my next visit to Morocco. There were no problems with the vast difference in culture and neither of us even got upset tummies from the food. A brilliant holiday all round.
We liked Hotel Nassim
We stayed at Hotel Nassim for 7 nights in February 2006. Our room was modern and well designed with satellite television and a good ensuite bathroom. Airconditioned. The hotel is situated in a busy part of the new town half an hour's walk from the old medina, or about 1 euro or 1 US dollar for a taxi ride. The rooms are double glazed and quite quiet. There is a small pool and a small pool area, no loungers, and a roof terrace. Not a place for a pool holiday, you would be better in the Hivernage area, but would probably pay more. We paid about GBP60 a night for the room, bed and breakfast. Take your booking vouchers, as reception could not trace our booking! Many restaurants nearby. Good value for the money, good choice unless you want a large pool and pool facilities, or pay more for a ryad in the old quarter.
Better than expected
A gleaming, modern little hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Our room was small, attractively decorated, clean and quiet (on the top floor). Care was taken on details such as the presentation of our nightclothes. The dining room was roomy, light and nicely furnished, providing an excellent breakfast and dinner. There was a first floor bar (rather dark and with loud music ), enticing pool and sitting out area outside the bar. It is a mile and a half from the centre, walkable if so inclined otherwise a 10 DH taxi ride. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Would definitely recommend
Not as expected
Whilst our room contained a minibar it was completely empty(it was not ramadan). The carpet in our room was very dirty and the bathroom drains smelled really badly on and off throughout the day.The curtains for the room were also missing.
