My wife and I stayed at the Albani arriving on the Saturday and leaving on the following Wednesday. We had a room (No 419) with balcony overlooking the dense trees of the park opposite. This room has recently been renovated and was very comfortable. Bathroom immaculate.
Facilities like any other large hotel and with generally helpful staff. I’d single out the restaurant staff particularly as being exceptional. The bartender and (just) one of the reception staff less so. Nonetheless this isn’t a real criticism.
Quality of food was excellent too. Breakfast was self service but from different island tables rather than the insane one line arrangement one can find in places. Dinner was a three course meal with second helpings of the starter dish always offered. Jugs of water always provided. House wine at the table was about 9 Euros a bottle. Drink in the bar is expensive (4 Euros for a small beer and house wine 4 Euros a glass). Astonishingly beer in the room’s fridge is cheaper than in the bar.
We had trouble with the in-room digital safe (my mistake not theirs) and that was fixed whilst we were at dinner. Our toilet seat became loose and this was fixed during cleaning without us having to ask. Towels all changed daily.
Ordering a taxi at reception was incredible - it arrived within seconds! The TV worked well - CNN in English available - with all controls working except (in our case) the sleep facility. Only possible criticism was that the room uses an American style lobby-ceiling aircon, heater system which is set to be one or the other according to season and, now October is here, ours was set to be a heater. Even with the thermostat turned down the room was rather warmer than I like. Opening the balcony ‘patio’ like door fixed that but there were some mosquitoes about even in October so we preferred not to do that.
The balcony was small (triangular in shape) and contained its own table and two chairs comfortably.
A good few minutes walk from the Metro stations but with relatively few bistros nearby in which to eat. Incidentally there is a bistro in the street behind the hotel that we only saw as we left - it looked nice. There is also a bank machine 50 yards up Via Adda at the corner with a side street. The hotel will cash Travellers Cheques too. A very nice hotel for a city break and we’d certainly go back.
