Close to the Medina
Spent two nights here and I was surprised by its value. Granted the rooms looked rather tired but I was impressed by mosaic work around the grounds, especially the centre fountain. Hot water is on from 6-10am and again at 6-10pm. Breakfast was a very simple affair and the choice needs to be extended, rush hour (8-9) needs to be avoided as I believe that French tour groups and parties use this hotel. Read much about the faux guides and the hassle you get outside the hotel so I arranged a gude for the day (150 dirhams) and a car... more
Very recommendable
This is a very well located hotel in 2 minutes walk from Bad el Bejou (or something similar) gate to the center of the medina (the zoco). The service in the hotel is very kindand as far as the price is concerned we paid 575 MAD for a triple room buffet breakfast included, and 800 MAD with dinner. The hotel indoor is very nice with a central "patio" with a fontain in the middle (I guess it must be perfect for hot summer days. I would no doubt recommend it.
Great location, average rooms
The hotel is conveniently located inside the old medina of Fes. It's probably the only hotel inside the old medina with good enough rooms and not crazily expensive (this one beign Palais Jamais). The rooms are small and it feels like there was some kind of sauna or similar before hotel rooms, the inside of the hotel is very nice with a two level central yard.
Fantastic location
The Hotel Batha is situated in an ideal place if you want to discover the old town of Fez. The rooms are comfortable, a little basic but have charm and character. If you are looking for a characterless, clinical modern hotel do not stay at the Batha. There is an amazing lounge area with beautiful mosaic walls, fantastic plasterwork on the ceiling, beutiful chandaliers and stunning stained glass windows. The bar area (the only place we found in Old Fez with beer!) is warm and welcoming with a roaring log fire which was great as the... more
Great location
I loved our room - with lovely green tiled parts. It wasn't really new and shiny but had a great atmosphere. The best part was coming out of the room and looking out over the courtyard and fountain - and also sitting and eating breakfast with this view. It's just by the Medina and it was fine for a small group of us to go exploring in the evening and for me to pop out alone to buy postcards and water from just opposite another evening.
What an experience
For price and location could not be faulted..... I found the breakfasts adequate and must say have had worse coffee in a lot of english hotels. The staff could not be faulted, most spoke good english and and always had a smile on their faces,, more than can be said in many english hotels. The Medina is a real eye opener to life in Morocco and there are plenty of bargains to be had, as long as you hagle and get the price right down. The weather in mid November was still hot enough to burn you so take your sunblock with you. All in all a... more
Closest Hotel to Ancient Medina. Great Value
Great location, just a stumble outside of the Ancient Medina, and with many Hotels being a taxi ride away, this is a significant bonus. Understand the Hotel looks modern, but has tiled fountains in the large central atriums. From 285MAD with a fixed menu at 115MAD (3 course - c.£8) and a licensed bar, I thought this stacked up as the best deal in Fes, and I looked at quite a few places. If you want old charm, smelly bed and cockroaches then there are other places at this price or less. I only stayed 1 night (meal was... more
You could be anywhere in the world, not exotic Morocco!
Hotel Batha fine for a basic, clean place to sleep in Fes, but really this could be a hotel anywhere in the world, not exotic Morocco! For a much more authentic and memorable stay in Fes, I'd definitely recommend a stay in a riad, for about the same price or just a little bit more - so worth it. Included breakfasts at Hotel Batha pretty missable - bad coffee, ok pastries & worst concentrate orange juice we tasted - why was this when everywhere else in Morooco you are served up wonderful freshly squeezed OJ?! Average.
GOOD ACCOMODATION, NICE VALUE
If you are a traveler for whom the highlight of a trip abroad is a stay in a luxurious hotel, then there are probably better choices . But if you are looking for a modern hotel that combines comfort, good value and unbeatable location, then Hotel Batha, in Fez, Morroco is the one for you. This hotel's main attraction is that it is the only modern hotel that lies within the walls of the Medina, where the main sights are. It is only minutes away by foot from the souks and the famous narrow streets of the old City of Fez. The rooms are... more
Pretty basic rooms, but cheap.....
Fez is a real eye opener, but well worth a visit. Hard to believe people can still live so primatively in this day and age, but they can and they do. I have never seen so many donkeys in one place at one time. A real culture shock. The hotel is right in the think of the action at the entrance to the medina. Rooms are very basic, but the hotel itself is nice. It has a pool and a lovely bar with big sofas so you can sit back and relax in front of the open fire and enjoy a glass of your favourite Moroccan drop. We ate at the... more
