Luxury in Fes
Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of July 2007. We got a nice last minute deal on the room on the net (130 Euros a night - normally 260 for the same room). The hotel is very good, 5-star service, 5 star facilites, great food, included fantastic breakfast, amazing location. Overall, I have very little bad to say about the place. The only complaint is that the air conditioning in our room didn't work very well, but other then that, everything was top notch.
Awesome hotel
I stayed there a few night last week at the hotel with my wife It was incredible. It's very clean and very well staffed. They somehow didn't have our booking through our travel agency but that was quickly fixed. After that, it was just nice. Our room was with the view of the front of the hotel, which was fine as if you really wanted to view the back of the hotel during the day or at night, you can just go to one of the common public balconies in the back to watch or take pictures of the Old Medina. The room was clean and... more
A very nice oasis, very comfortable and great service
The Palais Jamai is a great place, the staff is very helpful, and the location couldnt be better. The rooms were just fine, especially when compared to other similarly priced hotels and riads we stayed in during our trip. Be careful of some pricing, as it can be outrageous, however, in the spa for example, is priced about 1000x more expensive than the local, very clean and safe, Hammam... so ask some staff and locals, they will let you know. Restaurants were very nice, with a very friendly and accomodating staff. Highly... more
It's Tired
Our Morocco stay was about 12 days. This hotel was a major disappointment. It is certainly grand but the rooms are tired. I was shown 4 rooms before accepting one. The carpets were all stained, beds had body depressions, marble toilet floors stained. At check in, the front manager introduced himself to me, I met with him after I had to walk around to calm myself down. I showed him the room I was in and told him that I was extremely upset with its condition. He upgraded me to a junior suite, which was better. Breakfast was a feast but the... more
Fabulous
Absolutely fabulous, friendly but unintrusive, very informative staff - cannot understand reviews which say this hotel has slipped. Beautiful property. Except for the barman - who is evidently famous for his surliness but which frankly did not add character - this was in every respect a five star property with five star service. Ask the concierge to recommend a guide, we had absolutely THE best guide either of us has ever had anywhere in close to 70 years of combined world travel experience! (and we are not "guided tour" types, to say the... more
Deserves its five stars
Wonderful position & views & gardens. Very good food. Porridge for breakfast (& everything else). Excellent rooms, with big bath, shower a little tricky & lights above bed could cause glare. Service very good, & when something went wrong (the safe) engineers came within half an hour. Cannot understand some of the negative comments on this site.
Fantastic view
We stayed 2 nights as part of a tour/package. Great facility & clean. Our Medina View room had a great view of the old city. Food was very good with good variety. The service however was mediocre. Not very swift, not very attentive, and generally not interested in serving. In spite of the service, we would stay there again just for the view and the location.
Amazing panoramic view, disappointing service
The hotel was recommended to us by relatives living in Fez. So we decided to trust them, despite being slightly worried after reading mixed comments here. We stayed there for four nights at the beginning of September 2006. Our deluxe room was on the fourth floor, with a great balcony facing the Medina. Room are nicely decorated and are relatively spacious. Both the carpet and the furnitures looked a little bit tired and old (hotel is said to have been renovated in 1999?), but the room was overall very satisfactory. What a pleasure... more
beautiful hotel concierge let us down
We stayed in an excellent suite facing the medina, the grounds and hotel were beautiful and very well kept. A few serious flaws: 1. the shower would not maintain a constant temperature= scalding/ freezing and back again 2. laundry was not returned in time for our departure and had to cancelled and returned unwashed 3. worst of all, we asked the concierge to get us a guide, but emphasised that we did not want to go shopping. The guide duly arrived and pretended to take us on our requested list of items. It became apparent that... more
you'd better be in good shape
if you don't get a room near the elevators you could be in for a lot of exercise since the place is on a hill and the rooms can be quite far away.why they go up and down and down and up i never understood and most of our group needed a map as well adding to the exertion. the acclaimed restaurant is quite beautiful as is the entire hotel but the food is only so so...certainly not worth the price.I have had much better moroccan food for a lot less.the belly dancer is a joke. I would definately not stay there again.
