We stayed at the Tropical for 11 nights the hotel was busy because it was the summer holidays but because it is a big hotel it didn't feel over crowded. The grounds are beautiful with well kept gardens and the place was kept very clean. We stayed in a suite which was plenty... more

The hotel was beautiful and clean. I have two children a girl of 8 and a boy of 3. And they loved it, there are so many pools to choose from and they are so clean to. The entertainment reps are excellent; they work so hard morning, noon and night. We had a family room, it... more

We booked last year as a late deal and we were worried what it was going to be like, but overall we were very happy. The taxi transfer is a must to take you to and from the airport to the resort - no sitting on a bus. We had a Jacuzzi suite which was rather misleading as we... more

The food at the resort was dreadful and we found it difficult to eat as it was so bad. For a supposedly 4* hotel the food was decidedly 1* if that. If you like mass produced over cooked slop that all tastes the same this is the place for you. Even the salads and puddings... more

great hotel
We booked this hotel, then made the mistake of looking up the reviews. We were a little worried after reading some of the reviews buit we need not have been. The hotel is in a very quiet area, but the local market had all the normal turkish bargains and trips could be booked if you wanted to go further afield. The only drawback with the area is the mozzies! take plenty of spray and keep applying it. The hotel itself is fab, the room we booked was a jaccuzzi suite, plenty of towels, comfy beds, good storage, view of beach and next to one of the quieter pools. The gardens are stunning and the food was fantastic - plenty of choice, a good selection of turkish and fussy friendly food. The entertainment was a little holiday camp in style, however there were plenty of bars to spend a few relaxing hours in. If you are looking for a family friendly, activity filled holiday or a relaxing adults break, then this holiday can offer both. I would certainly go back to this hotel.
Fab hotel
Right here we go.... I have been looking for a European hotel and resort to visit off peak for some time. I love the Caribbean but it is just too far to go for a week. All of the other European hotels i have been to, Bulgaria, and Egypt, Portugal etc, have not been quite what im looking for; this hotel was. Check-in-quick and easy, staff not very polite though, but who cares! Only problem was that the maids were still preparing our room and it was 5pm, this is not acceptable for a 4*!! Rooms-there was two of us and plenty of rooms. huge double bed, balcony, clean bathroom. No problems. We were room 3115, the only thing i would saty is that it is close to the entertainment, and the music went on till midnight. It did not bother us, but if you have small children who need sleep i would advise you ask for a quiet room on booking. Weather. Perfect, no clouds, 33-37 degrees all week! Pool-brilliant, one huge pool with slides.Slides open 10-12, 3-5 and monitored by staff, very safe. Three smaller quieter pools away from main pool, brill if you want some peace and quiet. We went offpeak 18-25th June wen there was not many kids, if you dont like children then offpeak its fine, not too many DONT go in peak season!! Food-breakfast was cooked (no bacon), omletts made to your choice, pastries, pancakes, continental, brilliant dinner(lunch)-buffet in restaurant with pudding, or at snack bar you can order;jackt potato (tuna/cheese), burger, Cheeseburger, hot dog, cheese/ham toastie, tuna melt, chips, pizza, chicken nuggets, fish fingers. Tea was a mix of cooked meats, grilled chicken, rice vegetables, cips, pizza etc, very good variety and good quality. I visited the Intercontinental in Egypt in March where the food was awful, so i was worried about turkey but it was 100% better. They use chicken breast for example! Shopping-Sarigerme is a 15 min walk or 5 mins in a taxi (£3) you can pay for stuff in £, Euro, or Lira. TAKE POUNDS!!!! We didnt realise u can pay in pounds, but u can, even in the market and it is much better value. Sunday market-GO GO GO!!!! brill!! make sure u haggle. Lots for men, 'designers' t-shirts, you cannot tell they are fake 5 for £10 brilliant!!!! socks, bags, purses, perfume, turkish delight Trips-we didnt do any but-DONT BOOK THROUGH YOUR REP-walk to Sarigerme, there is a trips shop there, exactly the same, they pick u up from your hotel, its much cheaper. Staff-i have to say this was the only downfall-they were quite rude at times but never mind! apart from animation staff who were brilliant. Also note-after u have used the bottles in the mini bar they dont provide any more-make sure u keep them to fill them up! Overall would definately go back for a cheap (forgot to mention we paid £250 each) out of season all inclusive break. Feel free to ask me any questions
Amazing - would reccomend!!
We got this holiday for a bargain price - and with it being all inclusive we worried if the food would be any good, would the hotel be clean and would the beer and wine be drinkable!!! We needn't have worried!! Firstly the hotel was amazing - clean, modern and with every facility that you could possibly need for your stay. The entertainment programme was great, the range of sports and activities were fab! The reps were amazing - they couldnt do enough for you and were the life and soul of the resort. The food was fantastic and Im a really fussy eater but it was delicious with an unbelivable choice throughout the day. The alcohol was also great and although only the local beer and spirits were available they were very palatable and went down a treat in the lovely Turkish sunshine! It was my first time in Turkey and after hearing mixed reviews was a little sceptical but we had a great time and would certainly recomended the Iberostar Tropical.
Dont Go Here
This was the worst holiday of my life i went in 2005 , the gave you belly ache everytime we ate. the toilet fell off the wall after two days, it took them 4 hours to come and look at it even then the took it completely off the wall and stuffed the sewage pipe with toilet tissue ... so of course the hole appartment stank of sewage, it was the most repulsive thing ever, and to make things worse the rep and hotel manager wouldnt give us another room, it took over 15 hours for them to give us some where else to stay. The staff were rude unhelpful and always chasing you for a tip
tropical paradise!
what a fantastic holiday ! ive been to turkey a few times but this was the best hotel ive ever stayed in from the minute we arrived they looked after us with quick and efficient reception staff and bus boys taking our luggage to our room the room was was spacious with kingsized bedroom and sperate lounge area the air conditioning was quiet and welcoming , it was cleaned every day with fresh towels bath robes and slippers the food was plentiful and varied and even my fussy 3 yr old didnt go hungry he was especially impressed with the icecreams from the beach bar and at evening meal which consisted of vanilla , strawberry chocolate or lemon soft scoop icecream in a crispy waifer cone and also the fresh fruit including copious large bolws of fresh strawberries we never left the complex all week and spent the grand sum of £20 all week and that was mainly on a demanding 3 yr old who wanted water play toys the grounds of the tropical were amazing with peaceful spa gardens with beautiful smelling jasmine and palm trees the beach was a bit disapointing however as it consisted of a dark shingle with pepples near the waters edge there is also a strong under current in the water so we didnt feel comfortable for our 3 yr old to come into the water.T he beach is protected as turtles bury their eggs on the beach so there is no digging allowed but the sand wouldnt make sand castles anyway. my 3 yr old went to the kids club twice a day from 10 am till 12.30 and again at 3 pm till 5 pm it gave us some time where we didnt constantly have to look over our shoulder to see if he was ok and he made friends much quicker , they took him on the beach to collect stones to later paint they played by the pool and although he wasnt very confident in the water one of the animation team sat with him and made sure he was ok he had his face painted and played with the toys and looked forward to each session all in all a fantastic holiday and we look forward to going back there
Very Clean Hotel
We stayed here 21/05/07 for a week , had a very good time , The hotel rooms are very clean also the grounds are very very clean, most of the staff are more then happy to help you, The only person that was a moody sod was the lady serving the food at the snack bar by the pool, Very Very rude person, There was no pool side service , which i find hard to belive in a 4* Hotel . The Staff in the main Desk in the hotel are a joke, ask them a question about anything and they say you need to come back in the morning and talk to some one then???, We went into the village and the shop keepers are all very helpfull about 20min walk , road all the way, or a taxi will take 5mins or the dolmus(bus Service) . The food by the pool is limited but ok , The pools are great , Kids of all ages will like this Hotel things going on all day ,overall a great Hotel , food could be a bit better .
Nice Hotel
Went to the Tropical Hotel on 21st May 2007, 6 adults and two infants. Arrived at the hotel around 1.30am and was checked in quickly and told where our rooms were. We were 3 families and had e-mailed the hotel previous to ask for 3 rooms together but was given two rooms together and one somewhere else, we were too tired and hungry to bother much We asked if we could get a snack and was told the only way was to order room service but all food would have to be paid for! Not good when the hotel is supposed to be all-inclusive). We had also asked for the rooms to be ground floor as two families have pushchairs and again this was not the case, all rooms were on the first floor with no lift so pushchairs had to be carried up the stairs endless times a day!! We went to our rooms and found they were lovely suites with a lounge, seperate bedroom and spa bath, fluffy bath robes and slippers which was a nice touch. The hotel grounds and pool area are wonderful, spotlessly clean and well maintained, you will always see someone cleaning or tending to the gardens . There are large water slides which are opened for a two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon and lots of games, ie football, volleyball, water polo, water arobics happening all day long. Because it was early in the season we never had a problem getting a bed round the poolside, not even at the baby pool. We were very worried about the mossies as all the reviews we had read stated the place is plagued with them but I can honestly say we never even saw a mossie let alone get bit by one!! We did have plugs for the room and repellent sprays but after the first day never used them again. We did walk into the villlage twice and had to pass the swamp and my hubbie got bit twice that day but never at the hotel. The food at this hotel is a bit mixed. Breakfast - there was not much choice for breakfast, never had bacon once all week, sausage was frankfurter style but there was cereal, fruit, bread, scrambled fried and boiled egg. You can also get a fresh omelette cooked while you wait. Lunch - Poolside Snack bar, The food at the snackbar was very limited. The menu consisted of nuggets and chips, burger and chips, pizza and chips or toastie and chips. It was all served on a small side plate so you would literally get a burger and 6 chips!! The food service people were the rudest people I have ever met never once saying please or thank you especially the girl serving she was just nasty, she barks YES when you got to the counter and then throws the food at you so you loose half of the 6 chips she gives you in the first place. Nobody could believe she was never pulled up about her rude manner and we made a complaint about the staff there as we were always polite and made sure we used our manners. We never used the upstairs restaurant during the day so cant comment on that. The drinks bar staff were altogether different and were always pleasant and polite. We have been to Turkey many times and always found the people to be friendly and helpful so what happend to the snack bar staff is anyones guess!! Main Restaurant - Evening meal. Again there was not much choice, plenty of salad and stew type stuff and chips every night but not much of anything else. There is one Turkish night which is quite good. for a 4* Hotel the food was absolutely rubbish and a complete dissapointment. The drinks on the all inclusive tarrif are just locally produced drinks so anything else had to paid for. To do this you have to buy what they call a Tom Watch which is 50 YTL (£20) from reception and then hand it over to scan everytime you purchase a drink. You even need one of these for fresh orange juice you can only get squash on the AI deal. when you use the watch it gives you a receipt telling you how mnay credits you have left and after we used it to get our third drink it went back to zero for no reason. It took us about 2 hours to get the credits put back on and had to speak to about 5 different staff before they could find someone who knew how to reset it so take a tip, if you buy one of these watches keep evey receipt they give you back so you can prove how much you have used and how many credits you have left or you may be ripped off. Also I had asked for Martini but watched them pour it out and saw it was not Martini but a local alternative so it was all crap anyway. The Entertainment - The team work very hard and are a really lovely bunch, they try very hard to get the shows right but could definately do with some proffesional choreograhy help, and the costumes are rubbish which is such a shame as with the right equipment and training they could do so much better but you cant knock them for trying, they have loads of energy and give it everything they have got. Sarigerme - the little village is lovely, the locals are very friendly and there a few shops to browse around. You can walk it in 15-20 minutes easily just out of the hotel and turn left past the security point. The local market on Sundays is an experience, loads of fake designer bags and jeans at great prices, make sure you leave room in your suitcase for all the stuff you will buy. A couple of small bars whre you can stop and get a drink, The Dolphin Bar is great and the fella who is runs it is lovely, we sat there and had a few drinks after walking round the market and he bought out plates of chips for the kids free of charge and when it started to rain a little he moved all the bean bag seats outside under the shelter for us, even when he ran out of Martini he phoned someone to run up with another bottle for us, cant ask for more!! The biggest problem we had was regarding checking out on the last day. We had a night flight and was not being picked up from the hotel until 9.30pm but had to be out of our rooms at 12 midday. On 3 seperate occasions we went to reception to ask if we could pay to keep our room for late checkout and were told they could not access the computer to call back the next day which we did. On the morning of checkout we went directly to reception after breakfast only to be told we could not keep ours or any of the other two rooms in our party and there was no other room available for us but it would not be a problem as they had a courtesy room we could use. I asked her what time we could use the room and was told anytime we did not need to book so off we went to sit round the pool for our last day while our cases were put in the store room. at 6pm we all (6 adults and 2 1 year olds) went to reception to ask about using this courtesy room only to be told there was a shower and a toilet in the spa area downstairs!! When I asked her what she meant she said this is the courtesy room!! I could not believe I was hearing right she expected all of us (babies as well) to get down to the spa area to shower and change for dinner and our journey home. I asked her if there was plugholes for us to use hairdryers and she shrugged her shoulders and said she did not know!! The First Choice Rep happened to be close by so I asked her if she could help and just get us one roon for 1 hour so we could all shower, change and sort the babies out as we were being told just to use the spa and the only thing she had to say was "AND". My husband was totally losing his cool at this stage but it made no difference whatsoever she just walked away and left us too it. Eventually we all had to make the best of the spa area and wash and dress the babies on benches outside and sit on the floor and plug the hairdryers in. It was a total shambles! To sum up this holiday, the hotel itself is very nice and the pool area and grounds are lovely. The beach is rubbish, the food is average with no choice whatsover. The A La Carte restaurants are a waste of time as the if you check the menu's there is nothing worth eating on them, most of the staff are wonderful who try very hard to make your holiday as much fun as possible, the village is lovely. You can go over to the Holiday Village on the other side of the complex but I am not sure if you can get a drink or food as they have different coloured wrist bands although I did see loads of people from the Holiday Village over our side having a drink so maybe you can. It is definately worth a visit but dont expect fantastic 4* treatment , we have been to other Iberostar hotels in Brazil and the Carribean and they are 10 times better than this hotel but too far to travel with babies.
Great Hotel!
I was worried when i realised this was the old "pegasos palace" which did not have great reviews but i was pleasantly suprised, the hotel was the cleanest i have ever stayed in, they take a lot of pride in this, the pools were great, my 2 boys (aged 4 and 8) loved the kids pools and kids clubs, the only let down was the food, it wasn't great, maybe we have been spoiled before, we stayed in the Iberostar in Zante and the food was amazing, there was supposed to be a kids buffet every night, after the 3rd night, it was never to be seen which was quite annoying, the turkish night was good fun and the food was probably the best we had there, all in all the holiday was lovely and the animation team were great especially the kids club reps, they had so much time and patience with the kids.
Enjoyed my stay at the Iberostar Tropical,
Have just came back from the Iberostar Hotel Tropical, and can honestly say that we fully enjoyed ourselves. I was a bit nervous after reading reviews but need not have worried. The staff are very friendly and the hotel and its grounds are kept immaculate. We had a jacuzzi suite in which the bedroom is separated by sliding doors. The jacuzzi was just like a normal bath but worked fine. In the bathroom there is a hairdryer. Also in the room you have a tv (sky channels), mini fridge, safety deposit box (this is free of charge). The all inclusive alchoholic drinks are efes lager, fosters and grolsh, red and white wine, peach, melon, tropical and bannana snapps, brandy, whiskey, gin, vodka and raki (no rum), also soft drinks include fanta orange, coke, sprite, tonic water. The food in the restaurant was good and you could always find something to eat if you are a fussy eater. The hotel is next to the holiday village and you can use the facilities there but cannot get a drink or eat at the village as part of your all inclusive. The pool areas are really well kept and there is a life guard on duty at the main pool. The main entertainment is outside although we only went once but it was good (what you would expect from a hotel animation team.) Every week on a Friday there is a turkish night (my only warning here is that camels are brought to the hotel and there owners will tell you that you can ride the camel and not to worry about paying, they will then insist on charging you 10 lira). Sarigerme village is about a 20 minutes walk away or you can get the dolmus from outside the hotel for 1 lira. The next main town is Ortaca. There is a market at Ortaca on Friday which was excellent, and there is a market at Sarigerme on Sunday although this was not as big. It will cost you £20 for a turkish bath at the tropical but we used Varollar Travel Agency in Sarigerme and it cost us £9 each. They picked us up from the hotel and brought us back and we felt that this was really good value. They also do alot of other tours alot cheaper that with First Choice. The beach is not very good next to the hotel so we did not use it but we did go for a nice walk. There were mosquitos around but not many although this could be due to the time of year we went. I would definately go back to this hotel again. One further warning, There are no cash machines at the hotel or in Sarigerme you have to go to Ortaca about a 20 mins ride in the dolmus (cost 2.5 lira each)so it might be best to bring cash.
Fantastic resort, great reps! Love to go back!
With out first visit to Turkey, we couldn’t have chosen a better resort to stay in. The Iberostar Tropical in our eyes was a superb place and one we long to return to at the end of the season. We paid £678 for a family of four, so we perhaps didn’t expect the best hotel going...except when we arrived we knew it was something special. The room we were allocated was massive, with a double bedroom, a living area and sofa bed and a lovely bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. The room was spotless and the decor very nice indeed. We also had a balcony overlooking the quiet back pool which was very nice, while out front you could see the main pool, so we had a nice room position! The entertainment is superb IMO and I’m 18. Morning sessions begin at 10.00am and end at 12.00 while afternoon starts at 3.00pm-5.00pm and between those hours a variety of things take place. The Iberostar Star Friends team are fantastic, really passionate about talking to you, learning things, they are all mainly Turkish or Bulgarian but they do a great job. So big hello to Bayram, Anna, Yoiuns, Svetty, George (Omur), Mevlut and all the others! Meet them, greet them, enjoy being with them, because you’ll treasure them once you leave! The kids club is fairly standard, perhaps not as organised as next door in the Holiday Village, but the kids have something to do and this is run by Svetty who is very sweet. The main activities are run by various other reps including water gym with Anna who is very athletic and really nice, Rifle Shooting, Archery, Bowls, Volleyball, Water Polo, Cocktail games, Darts and much more. Winners from the games get ‘Diplomas’ for winning on the night in front of the audience which is fun. There so much going on each day, you don’t really need to leave the complex! On the night there are a variety of shows/entertainment which culminates with the big show on Saturday where the reps perform dances from various musicals and Friday is Taste of Turkey night where they bring in Turkish dancers and a belly dancer which is superb to watch. Friday they also have camels, a market and Turkish food in the buffet. It was all very good. Moving onto food, this was excellent. Meat thoroughly cooked and good cuts at that! Plenty of salad, a variety of main dishes (although some would be a bit lukewarm), but those meals cooked in front of you were warm and tasty. Each table receives a big bottle of water too which comes in handy! Pudding there is something for everyone, but this seems to be let down by a lot of products containing nuts which I hate. This is made up for it though by the superb Algida (Walls) Carte Dor style ice-cream which is lovely, especially in Lemon. There is a kids buffet from 6-8pm which features the usual chips and nuggets which is nice for children. There are three A la carte restaurants which need to be booked earlier in the day; at this time in the season booking was fine as the hotel was ¼ full. We only went to the Italian but it was nice to be dined on, and the food was very pretty albeit perhaps not feeding your stomach to the max, hence moving onto the usual buffet after for us! The hotel itself is spotless, there are cleaners 24/7, the rooms are great, the lobbies and main areas are constantly cleaned, the toilets are cleaned every half hour (which is your a lad, can be slightly embarrassing when a female walks in while doing your business), and the pools are tested/cleaned nightly. The pools are fantastic; the main pool is huge, while there is a smaller pool to chill behind some apartments. The slides are turned on certain times each day and are excellent. In May the pools are slightly cool mind, but jump in, take a dip and you’ll warm up! I can imagine in the height of season the hotel caters for a huge amount of guests judging by the amount of sun beds and tables, but it was nice early in the season, quiet and peaceful in places. The grounds are stunning, and the beach bar where the ice-cream was, was lovely. You can order food freshly cooked as well during the day which is great, although only once did the ice-cream cart move up to the pool bar following a complaint. The rest of the time it was down by the beach, slightly annoying, but a nice location never the less. Drinks wise, no queues, all the staff were friendly, Fosters and Becks was only on tap during the latter half of the week and this was perfectly fine to drink with Efes. Peach Schnapps was lovely and they had real Fanta and Coke! Other spirits available and wine, but some were payable which wasn’t clear at first, but was made clearer by printed menus later in the week. The beach is fairly wild, sandy but dark, it’s huge and peaceful, nice to walk along but no one goes there. The sea is quite deep too and un-inviting, but the pools are suffice. The hotel is in a lovely location overlooking mountains and hillsides and the village is a must visit especially market day on Sunday where you can pick up lots of great fakes! Visit Sarigerme Tours and speak to Oz who is superb at English and other languages and is a friendly chap and the Jeep Safari is a must, the best thing I’ve ever done probably! The biggest issue, mozzies. Although not a major problem to me, with the right preventions, you won’t get bitten. We had a mozzie alarm with us at the table and in the amphitheatre and this worked, while we also had Jungle formula and took garlic capsules prior to leaving. I was bit once, my sister twice (on the last night when we had no preventions on us as they were in luggage) and Mum seven times again mostly on the last night. Besides they don’t really bother me, and even my Mum who reacts badly to flies biting her in Britain, was fine with it. So don’t let it put you off too much!! All in all the resort is fantastic. While next door caters for families the Tropical now has a more relaxed couples feel about it with some other families too, and there’s not just British, which we prefer. The staffs are great; food is great, facilities and activities great and it was nice and hot for May! Well worth a visit, the past few bad years are a distant memory, Iberostar are here to stay!
