Don’t say you haven’t been...

Jul 2005, Mr J Peklivanas

Don’t say you haven’t been warned!!! Well I didn’t complain once, (well maybe only a few hundred times but what the hell I think the hotel management couldn’t wait to get rid of me), infact victor meldrew would of been very proud of me, what a holiday from hell, I think criminals should be sent here to do a long stretch, they wouldn’t re offend again, the best part of the holiday was a great relaxing bath in sewerage water that was piping cold!! And really, yes really smelly.
First choice idiots and tried to understand what I was saying even though I was speaking there own language, a few F words thrown in here and there, one has to say that the haven type entertainment was rubbish, until I arrived, I made everybody’s holiday being the entertainment I would have a queue of people stating he is off again!!
I was impressed by the cold burgers and hard rubbery chips, nearly deck the manager on a few occasions, didn’t like the fact that I could speak the Turkish language, every member of staff could speak English, they choose not understand English or there own language, first choice, you have exceeded yourselves this time, my friends had booked this holiday for next year to get married there, laugh out loud what possibly could go wrong!! I have also booked to see if things have changed let you know next may 2006, well I have been invited to there wedding, I haven’t the heart to tell them, so first choice if you read this you better get things ready for me and my friends wedding party and if things haven’t changed there will be trouble.

My husband and two young children...
3 / 10
Jul 2005, Mrs A McMahon

My husband and two young children arrived at the Pegasos tropical approx 5.30 am on the 15/07/05.
what a lot of messing just to get booked in.
The room we had was quite nice, although to the rear we over looked other apartments (circular ) also part baron land waiting for grass covering and plants to be planted.
Our first day was quite strange, as we spent the day walking about this huge complex trying to find a sunbed to relax on, or even a chair to sit on so that we could keep an eye on our children playing in the pool. (not enough sunbeds on the complex to accommodate even half of the holiday makers)
4.30pm, this was possible, as another holiday maker kindly offered me his sunbed.
The weather was fantastic, although quite windy. Sand and dried cement, was blowing in all over the holiday makers from an area that was still being built within the complex,
and this was just the beginning.
We would queue every mealtime for our meals, at the poolside cafe or in the main restaurant. This I know is expected as a rule, but not to the extent that we witnessed, it was quite disgraceful.
It was more like a canteen of starving people queuing all over the place, pushing and shoving each other just to get some of the under cooked food that was being served.
The under cooked food that also caused myself and two other members of my family to suffer food poisoning 4 days in to the holiday, and had to be treated for at my own doctors on the day I returned home.
In the evenings, I very rarely had a conversation with my husband, as he would queue for most of the evenings to get a child’s picnic beaker of larger.
As for me, I drink wine, and the taste of both of the wines provided was awful. It tasted like disinfectant!
You could buy the likes of Bacardi etc, with your very much conned in to tom watch, however they never had any stock.
The only stock that they did have was water vodka (water in a vodka bottle)
This was until midway through our second week, when they produced some sort of vodka concoction or this very disgraceful version of brandy, you could not even buy bottled water at the tropical.
The tom watch Aas told by our reps at the welcome meeting, we could use to spend on the complex.
What they meant to say, and should have said was that it was only for use behind the bar or for very expensive sweets.
You could not even buy a bottle of water, wine or gifts, which I would have been more than happy to use it for.
We spent another £600 on this holiday with this watch, and other supplies that we had to buy off the complex.
We even had our trip put off to another day for a safari excursion.
A card was put under our door telling us they had over booked, so they moved us to another day for a bigger party.
I cancelled it with some difficulty of getting my money back
Supplies on the complex were limited. I could not get an adapter, for my hair dryer which I had forgotten to pack, or medicine, for my at least over a 100 flee bites that my family and I had between us all, including a couple of mosquito bites.
People that we met had offered some medication while we went in to Sarigerme to get some.
Low and behold, this tint little village still pretty much a ghost town is relying on the money from tourism before they could even build something like a chemist.
Therefore medication had to be sought elsewhere in another village 30 mins away to ease these very itchy and insufferable flee bites we got during the night, either lying in our beds or on the bed settees.
Ear infections. This prevented my daughter from going in the pool all of the second week of the holiday.
It cost me £50 for the doctor on the complex to tell me what I already knew, that my daughter had an infection in the ear canal like most of the other holidaymakers suffered.
The actual medication that I paid for, was only a couple of pound. Its absolutely mad!
The slides were very dangerous, and not enough distance between water and land, causing people to fly off the slides missing the water and causing accidents.
Children and babies having little accidents in the pools, waiting for attendants to fish these out, you could be waiting for up to an hour or more.
Even the information telling the holiday makers not to use the pool took its time being relayed.
The toddlers pool with the hippo and four little slides had not been grouted properly.
My little boy had his hands and feet cut to shreds as did many others.
I made my little boy put his swim shoes on, they were also destroyed.
Other holidaymakers asked how they could get some of these shoes due to running out of plasters. I could not help them.
The shops on site were gold shops, carpet shops etc, not things that people might need.
We paid for a room with a accuse, and it did not work.
Our bathroom door completely locked and the handle had to be drilled, ripped off and replaced.
We could never close the door after that for fear that one of our children could get locked in.
We had a safe that did not work, even if it did, it could be picked up and walked off with.
On our second day the rooms had to be sprayed they never said why, but we guessed.
The football pitch had metal rods sticking up from the floor, also some of the grass verges around some of the pools had the same.
The entertainment was disgraceful. Some of the restaurants had not been opened and the ones that had we could not get a booking for.
The fish restaurant had not opened at all. The beach bar only opened in our second week but shut at 6pm.
Extra beer pumps were put in use mainly in the latter part of our second week ready for new arrivals.
Men worked on electric lighting by the pool area at night with water logged floors. With holiday makers walking past ,they were putting everyone at risk!
Workers were being injured, and pipes burst by the main pool and pool side cafe, showering all the holiday makers.
How was this holiday for me and my family, well it was a very tiring ordeal, very much a chore and we hated it!
Would we ever come back, never!
The complex will be fantastic next year as all these problems will have been sorted out and forgotten about, but not by my family, they ruined a holiday that we had saved up all year for, we need another to get over it!
We paid more for this holiday, than we did to go to the Dominican Republic last summer.
We had great weather value for money and a fantastic time with Direct holidays.
It was the first time that we had gone all inclusive, and why we chose this holiday complex, but never again.
I complained to the first choice rep at the end of the first week, the reception of this member of staff, well lets put it this way she needs customer service and people skills training.
As the events continued, we gave up.
The only good that came out of the holiday, was that we met lovely people from Glasgow, Wales, Workington, Manchester, Wigan and St Helens, however, this was only by the pool, as the evenings we still spent queuing.
Finally sunbeds arrived in the second week of the holiday, but you have to be up very early, and we’ll say no more other than you must be up before 5am, otherwise you know who will get the beds.
I watched one Dutch lady gathering up to 10 beds for friends that she had met with at least 2-3 sun brollies each. How sad is that!
I did not complete my holiday form on the return flight home, and first choice have sent out another to me in the post which I will also not complete.
Why? well what is the point we arrived the second week of opening, experienced all the same problems that people had in the first week.
Those people are being offered a very small compensation of 10% It is an insult to them, and would be to me.
I have always used first choice other than last summer, but future holidays with first choice, my husband has since said never again.
That was our holiday, and that was the real series of unfortunate events.

My family thought our entire...

Jul 2005, Not Specified

My family thought our entire fortnight was a complete joke. I am remaining anonymous, as I am embarrassed to have spent so much money for the worst two fortnights of the year. I will try my best to gain some of this back!
Food appalling and lack of variety: cardboard chips, undercooked burgers, flies, flies and more flies. Milk, coffee, wine, water, ice cream running out. Grubby table tops and baby chairs, water dispensers and crockery.
Power cuts, endless queues, lack of seating (throughout day and night). I had to set my mobile alarm for 6 every day to ensure we got two sunbeds the second week. Prior to this we had no choice but to lie on the grass. Ear infections and stomach upsets seemed constant. Slippery floors, miserable staff, inaccessible restaurants and the poorest entertainment I have ever witnessed. All the entertainment reps need shooting (sorry). The beaches were unusable and miles from anywhere.
The complex should never have opened. Who’s ever responsible should have waited another season as it has the potential to be brilliant. My children couldn’t wait to get home either and that’s a first. If you had a complaint the responsible reps just weren’t sympathetic. It is such a shame.

Jul 2005, Mrs CM Boffey

I think I must have been at a different resort to most of these people! I went with concerns having read comments on here prior to departure but was more than pleasantly surprised. It’s several years since I have taken a package holiday with children and I found the whole experience brilliant. The whole resort was clean and although the staff couldn’t speak a lot of English we had no problems whatsoever - a lot of hand waving got anything we needed. The food was fine very plentiful and varied and yes chips were on the menu every night but it doesn’t mean you have to eat them! I used the health spa (fantastic), bars (no long queues and beer and soft drinks were cold), pools (fab for all concerned) and the doctor - if anyone has any health worries - fear not - far better than the health service here in my experience! My son needed a drip, which was administered in the room within 15 minutes of my talk with the doctor.
Ok the entertainment wasn’t that great in my opinion - a bit too much “Butlins” for my liking but I was on a family holiday so the kids loved it and we sat around the bar area. I didn’t see any glass on the beach but it’s so hot that you can’t stay on it with children anyway. The market was an experience - taxi drivers a bit fast but no problems with the coach drivers at all.
If you are booked to go - enjoy - it was absolutely brilliant and we are considering another trip next year. PS Don’t take mosquito repellent - buy it there it’s only about £1 and take a drink to the airport for your return trip - they are seriously dear once you get through passport control - £21 for 2 small beers and 2 cokes!

Jul 2005, Mr Lee Taylor

I have seen some comments about the Pegasus Tropical. I must say, I have just got back from there and couldn’t wait to leave this message (sad eh?).
Well I took my wife and three daughters aged 14, 11 and 17 months and we had a brilliant time. As the hotel is very new, there were some minor problems, which I can only call snagging, which you get with any new buildings, even in this country. The staff could not do enough to help, the food was first class, although I will never eat another chip again. But I expect that in an all inclusive resort.
The beach was described and long golden beach, it is a long beach but the sand is that volcanic type sand and in the water it is shingle, so best to wear shoes in the water. The beer was always flowing and it was chilled to perfection. The pools were plentiful and very clean with plenty of slides for the older kids and shallow pools for the toddlers.
The main thing the resort was missing was that there were no shops within walking distance, and the hotel shops were quite expensive and very limited. The gymnasium and health spa area was very well equipped with a sauna, Turkish bath, massage and many other feel good treatments. There is a games room with two pool tables, video games and Internet access. I would recommend this resort to my best friend, and I am already seriously thinking of booking up again next year.
The cab drivers are nutters and you take your life in your hands every time you get in, the coach drivers aren’t much better. The flight was brilliant, and the cabin crew did everything they could to help us with our young daughter.
Well we loved it, and would go again.

Jul 2005, Ms D Burton

Having read the previous review, I can tell that nothing much has changed at the Pegasus Tropical, nor as far as we could gather at it’s sister hotel the Pegasus Palace.
We went forewarned, as there was an article in the Sun newspaper just before we left, talking about, and glass on the beach, sunbeds, no Jacuzzi’s, no air conditioning, staff attitude, and poor food. However, we went and thought we would make the best of it. It was dreadful, in the article, First Choice had stated that all of the issues brought to light in the article, had now been resolved and were no longer a problem, this, is just not the case.
It was the most awful holiday I have ever experienced, the food, is disgraceful, little choice, especially for kids, badly cooked and presented, the dining rooms are like a cattle market, grab what you can when you see it kind of thing,. The bars are still the same one pump at each of the two, long queues, both day and night. Warm and flat when you finally get it.
The part of the complex that has traditional style apartments (don’t be fooled by the “JACUZZI SUITE” bit in the brochure, it’s just a normal one bed apartment, with a sofa bed in the lounge, area, and a Jacuzzi bath, I hasten to add that I didn’t meet one person, in the whole week that we were there, who actually had a Jacuzzi that works, but that part of the complex stinks of raw sewage, quite disgusting in that heat and not what you expect of a 4 * hotel.
The entertainment is an absolute joke, very poor standard indeed, pathetic infact. I could go on and on about incidents that happened over the week. I think the most depressing part of it was that at any given time of the day, if you went to the reception area, there was a queue, of angry holidaymakers, all trying to get their problems sorted out and not getting anywhere at all. I heard men threatening to “deck the manager!!!”. The whole experience was one I’d rather not repeat and if you’re going there this summer be prepared.
The bottom line is, it’s too big, they weren’t ready to open this year, the Turkish staff pretend not to speak English all the time, I guess because they are so fed up with people moaning. The first choice staff are trying to put a brave face on it, but its so obvious that they have just about had enough, infact I had a conversation with a really nice rep who was going home, midseason, as she told me that she loves her job but if she had to stay there a day longer, she would be in another profession next year!!
My advice, take plenty of money so that you can escape for days out, it was what kept us going. Typically British, we all moaned about it while we were there, but laughed too, what else could you do?, People were asking each other “how many days have you got left to do!!!”, and lots of smiling faces in reception on the day you were being picked up for your return flight.

This was a nightmare holiday there is...
3 / 10
Jul 2005, Miss S Ludlow

This was a nightmare holiday there is still building work going on all around. Hotel was not ready when we arrived and lots of people believe that it should not have been opened this year.
All though we paid all inclusive lots of things were not included such as towels, sun bed cushions and ice creams although these became free after ten days of our holiday. There are also not enough sunbeds for the amount of guests if you did want a sunbed you would have to get up at 6am. The entertainment is very poor. The advertisement also mentions some free water sports but this is untrue and has to be paid for and most of the time there is no staff working. The rooms are not ready i.e. beds not made no towels leaking air conditioning units and baths, fire alarms and emergency buttons taped and covered. No evacuation details anywhere.
As for "golden beach" this could be no further from the truth it is dirty and covered in broken glass.
There are only two pool bars with one pump at each and no staff so queues are at least 30 mins long during the day and 50 mins of an evening. when you do get a drink they are warm and flat. There is no hygiene as cups not cleaned just rinsed under a cold tap and used again resulting in many people getting cold sores.
As for the first choice reps they are so rude and unwilling to help, this is the last time I will be going with this company.
Cant believe there are no other reports on this hotel there were so many people complaining about the place whilst we were there saying they were going to put reports on these forums. There are many reports on the holiday truths forum about this hotel. NOT CONCIDERED A 4 STAR HOTEL.
