1 / 10
Oct 2005, Mr K Chambers

No night time entertainment. Reps were appalling. Very unhelpful. Freezing pools. No one could get in them. Long waiting times for all inc. Drinks.
This was advertised as a holiday for children. I would not recommend taking children as there are severe safety issues. Also two members of our party got very ill (food poisoning) so I would not chance your children with that! As there were four adults in our party we managed to make the most of it but I wouldn’t go back!

On the plus side hotel staff were very helpful. Turkey is a beautiful country and perhaps this hotel will improve with time but I would have thought first choice would know when a hotel wasn’t ready for opening!

All the family were a bit worried...
7 / 10
Oct 2005, Miss J Cox

All the family were a bit worried about turning up to this holiday location after reading other peoples comments. But i don’t think it was as bad as we all imagined.
For one the food wasn’t up to much. My family survived on chips and pasta. We booked into one of the themed restaurants (Indian)the food there was nice but the main course you would think was a one of the starters. You didn’t get the source that curries come with you just got rice and chicken. And the main food upstairs and by the pool bars was mainly cold! But are family could stick it.
Most of the staff were pleasant, but not all.
The entertainment was good but could of been better. The mini disco starts at 8:15 and is all full of little children. It is not a disco you imagine. They play songs and people do the dances on stage and you copy them.
If you have been told you will have a sea view i can tell you now you wont! As the two rooms we had were both promised a sea view and we didn’t have them. We complained and then found out that there isn’t a single room in the building with a sea view!
But all in all my family quite enjoyed it!
The pools were fabulous and so was the palace.
Kids and teens will most probably meet people there and have a good laugh.
There’s a night club for over 18s that finishes at 2 in the morning.

But at the end of the day we all had a good time and have come back with a load of good mates, photos and memories.

Oct 2005, Mrs m barton

We, like many others were very sceptical about going to this resort after hearing so many bad things about it, we booked this holiday 18 months ago and decided that we would go anyway as there were no other hotels we wanted to swap to. It turns out that we had no reason to worry what so ever!
We arrived at the hotel at about 5am, after a quick check in we were told to leave the luggage outside as the bellboys would bring it up for us, we made our way to our room. This, I must admit wasn’t easy as none of the room numbers on the outside of the buildings were lit up and neither were the signs. After 10 minutes in the dark we found our room. We were very impressed, it was absolutely spotless. Our daughter is 2 1/2 and although she sleeps in a bed at home we opted for a cot just to be on the safe side as the only other option was the pull out sofa bed. and we were worried that she may roll off it.
The cot was a travel cot and it was absolutely HUGE, it was the size I would say of a junior bed and also very deep so she couldn’t climb out of it. We stayed in a Jacuzzi suite but we wouldn’t bother again, we always had showers rather than baths so it was wasted really (although you do get a nice sexy white towelling robe and stunning pegasos hospital slippers to use!).
We had no maintenance problems at all during our stay, our cleaning lady spoke very little English but we managed to communicate with her fine.
The hotel is surrounded by mountainous terrain, it is extremely beautiful and picturesque. The town is about a mile away and doesn’t have very many shops, a weekly market is also held there on a Sunday. One thing I would say is take British sterling with you, you get much more for your money than the euro or Turkish lira, we took sterling travellers cheques but were only allowed to change them into lira. Most rooms have digital safes which are programmed with a code of your choice, a bell boy will come round and set it up ready for your code, he’ll turn away and tell you to enter your code and press the button to set it.
It's all very safe and secure. We would have taken sterling cash with us had we known.
We never used any of the speciality restaurants as we never needed to, we thought the buffet restaurants were fine, a great variety of things every day, we did struggle one day but one day out of 14 isn’t bad. The food isn’t always piping hot but they do use the food warmers so this isn’t really their fault. None of us came down with any tummy bugs or upsets.
We found that the restaurant at the place side of the hotel was better than the tropical side so we used that mainly during our stay. They do a huge variety of items as breakfast, cereals, fruits, freshly cooked fried eggs and omelettes, pancakes, croissants, cakes, pastries, scrambled & boiled eggs, tomatoes, fried bread, sausages, beans, you really wont struggle to find something you like (the pancakes are very nice!) There are always chefs cooking freshly fried eggs, the pancakes and the omelettes. At every mealtime there is a very well stocked fresh bread counter, there are usually around
6 varieties or so and you just go and slice off what you want.
During the evening meal they also have a kids buffet, this is usually made up of a variety of chips, jacket spuds, chicken nuggets, breaded fish, past with sauce or cheese, veggies, grilled chicken or turkey breast, lasagne etc etc.
We were very impressed by the variety of foods available, in my opinion, those who complain it is all chips, chips, chips are VERY fussy eaters. If you don’t like trying different foods or are stuck in your ways with food then don’t go all inclusive. There were many nights when the queue (adults) for chips was large which I thought was very sad.
Apart from the main restaurants there is also the snack bar, this is open from about 10am till 4pm when tea and cakes is also served. The snack bar does the same foods most days, chips, burgers, hotdogs, salad, pasta + sauce, toasted cheese sarnies. We used the bar quite a lot as we were by the pool, my daughter was addicted to their hotdogs!
The pools are great, I think there were a total of about 14 across the two complexes. We mainly used the main pool at the tropical but be warned, if you want a peaceful time don’t use either of the main pools, they are full of kids screaming, shouting and having a good time. There are pools designated in quiet areas for those who want a quieter life. The water in the pools was freezing, it was like getting into a very cold bath, great in the peak summer time but not in the later stages of the season! The only other thing I would say about the pools is everyone seems so use inflatables for their kids, these are bought at the pool shop and cost around £10 upwards so it may be cheaper to take one with you as most people left theirs behind when they went home.
We used the beach a couple of times, we found no real problem with it, it is a bit pebbly and I would recommend some kind of swim shoes for in the sea as the shoreline is particularly pebbly, the sea was lovely and clear and much warmer than any of the pools!!!
Down by the beach is another snack bar, this also serves ice creams which are part of the all inclusive package. Any named brand ice creams are charged for.
Drinks included in the package are: beer (nice and tasty), local vodka, gin, Raki, coke, diet coke, sprite and fanta as well as red and white wine. These are free until midnight and are then charged for. There is also a selection of squashes available for the kids and bottled water.
My daughter was too young for the kids club so I can’t really comment on that but it looked like the kids were having lots of fun, they also held things like soccer school, swim kids etc.
We couldn’t fault the entertainment, we thought the first choice team did a fantastic job, some of them had very good voices. It always started of with a kids disco at 8.15pm, my daughter loved it, watch out for graham, he is a great kids entertainer! They also played games with the kids and taught them dances. There was usually a cabaret act done by one of the first choice team at about 9.30 or bingo, the bingo cost 2 lira a ticket and was always a cash prize.
The only problem is that you need to take your own pens with you as they don’t sell them with the tickets. At about 10pm there was always a show of some kind, the wizard of oz, snow white, jungle book, grease, songs from the musicals etc etc. They have a 2 week programme so you wont get bored. Tuesdays was Turkish night and the dance troupe are amazing, they also do a varied programme from week to week, they are well worth watching. The entertainment is usually held outside in the amphitheatres which is great in the height of the summer but in October is gets quite chilly in the evening so make sure you pack a jumper or cardi to take with you.
We had a great time on our two weeks, we are planning to go back next year but earlier in the season. Our only complaint was with some of the other holiday makers, rude isn’t the word for it, for instance, the ice cream bar closes around 4.30pm, when it had closed one man went up with his son and started bawling at this poor girl that he was on holiday, he’d paid his money and told his child that he could have an ice cream so get and one NOW! I couldn’t believe it, they are lovely people and don’t deserve to had brash people with no manners or common courtesy shouting at them!! I felt ashamed to be from the same country as him.
One other warning for you, take food and drink with you to the airport, there is a burger king there and they were charging 18 lira for a whopper meal (about £8!!!!), 6 lira for a small coke (£3), once your in the duty free hall that’s it, you are literally held to ransom!

Oct 2005, Miss L Baxter

Got back from here on 15th,and could not wait, the weather was the only nice thing about this place, the hotel its self was ok but you can see how rushed it was, the toilet in our room was leaning to left, the air con did nothing but let mozzies in the fridge did nothing either, and the mozzies are bad don’t let anyone tell you different, my friend was there before me as I met them there for her wedding, so I was warned. the food was always cold and nothing went together.
I know people say the brits moan but come on there was something to moan about, the scrambled egg looked like lumpy custard full of water, I was ill with bad stomach for two days, I was not surprised by that, when you see the amount of flies on the food, I can say the place seemed clean, and our room was done quite well, and clean towels left, it was quite hard to get a sunbed unless you went early but you get used to that, so don’t expect a lie in if you want a bed, god help those in peak times, the beach was black sand, but so is Tenerife who cares, a lot less people down there and the sea is warmer.
If you get hold of a orange and white cushions keep hold of it, as they are like gold dust, there was a lot more to do for kids, I am glad I never had mine with me, my friend did and the food choice was not good either, the ice cream bar is by the beach no wonder no one could be bothered to go, you think they would have put one next to the snack bar at the pool (but that would have cost them lots in ice-cream) they are not stupid, I did not bother to complain to rep, the poor man did not no if he was coming or going so left him to it.
I have sent an email to first choice as I paid £420 for a week and feel quite cheated I also got charged £32.00 on the way over of excess luggage but not on the way back and I had more stuff what with pressies, work that one out, anyway cant say anymore expect I would not go back.

4 / 10
Oct 2005, Mrs J. L Rowberry

Got back on the 14th October and I couldn’t wait. It was like a concrete jungle with no feel of the real Turkey about it, so do not let it put you off. The hotel itself has been built around swamp land so you can imagine the mosquitoes are rife, my husband looked as if he were growing extra limbs!!!
The rooms were ok, nothing special and not cleaned very well. Our air conditioning did not work for three days and then when it was fixed after several days of asking the temperature changed by a few degrees, to be honest it was not worth pursuing as when you complained they just looked at you as if you were an alien!!! The language barrier was a real problem it certainly made me feel guilty that I could not speak Turkish. Overall the rooms need a really good clean and this business of putting your toilet paper in the bin not down the toilet hello this is 2005!!! Watch out with all medications in your room, one maid got the sack for stealing tablets. The reason she did this is because the cost of tablets over there is astronomical so hide them, just as an example one of the kids had chicken pox and a bottle of calamine lotion cost them £34.00!!!
The food was hit and miss but lets face it the people that have the food contract now have lost it for next season so it was hardly surprising that they had no incentive to serve decent meals, having said that though the food at The Palace was better. If you do not have kids do not go to this hotel, my husband and I were on our own and to be honest if it weren’t for the friends we made there we would have been bored to tears in the evenings. In the daytime we found one of the peaceful pools to lounge by and the weather was superb but the pool certainly woke you up outside it was 30 degrees the pool was 10 degrees.
Went to the beach once and that was enough, words cannot describe the black gritted sand all I can say is that it looked like a volcano had erupted on it!!! Where the mattresses for the sun loungers are concerned do as we did take them to your room that way you get to lie in the sun in comfort. All in all it felt like I was in the middle of a cattle market but as I said before do not let this hotel put you off Turkey there are many beautiful places to visit where the people are really friendly and they would not build a hotel less than a mile away from a sewage works!!!

Oct 2005, Mr E Perkins

What can you say? Facilities are excellent, Turkish staff fast efficient, friendly 5 star. First choice staff adequate and helpful. Food in abundance and more than enough choice as long as your main diet is more than just burgers and chips. 7 meals a day (if you want ). Weather excellent, pool fantastic though a little cold. Not that the greasy slobs round the pool would notice.
Entertainment at night needs some work but amphitheatre venue great. Flat excellent shower, toilet and air-conditioning great. Mossy screen on patio windows a great idea. The resort is going to be great next year when the planting is established. If that is the kind of holiday you want, then recommended. If you want to see turkey, go somewhere else. Mozzies major problem - sin kov £2.50/50ml in the shop works well but the little beggars will still get you. Give the "free lunch" on the boat trip a miss as i thing that led to the only stomach upset.
Dalman airport can't cope at present but they are building a new one. £10 for an entrance visa is the start of the rip off and the market traders and taxis do the rest

Oct 2005, Mrs Angela Rollinson

I went with my friend and left the families at home!
We went for a chill out week and the Pegasos was perfect for this! The Turkish bath wasn’t the best I’ve had as they didn’t exfoliate for long enough but the massage was lush!
Food was nice especially the Turkish in the main restaurant.
There could of been more adult entertainment but we were only there for a week and were lucky enough to have a great singer (Carley) for two nights a very funny and entertaining Hypnotist on another and a beach party on another -Gr8 fun!
There were lots of children but it was good to see that they were having a good time! The hotel was immaculate and the staff friendly. I would recommend this hotel to families with young children. As for the mozzies got a few bites but people need to remember that Turkey is in Asia I have a house nr Fethiye and when I stay there I also get a few bites!

Oct 2005, Miss C Ward

We have just returned from the Pegasus tropical hotel. We have had a lovely holiday. The accommodation was excellent, the rooms were very clean. The pools are lovely and the slides were great. The food was not great and it seemed to be the same thing every day, the best time to eat was midday in the buffet restaurants.
The Italian over at the palace was lovely. This is a great holiday for a family with young children but I wouldn’t recommend it to young couples. There are lots of evening shows and plenty of activities for young children. Overall the hotel was beautiful and very clean, the only thing people were complaining about was the food but I believe first choice are bringing in a new catering firm so hopefully that will improve things.
I would recommend that you take lots of mosquito repellent as there are lots of them although I wasn’t bit myself. The beach nearby is lovely and very relaxing if you want some peace and quiet. The weather was absolutely beautiful as were the surroundings.

Oct 2005, Ms S Morris

having also read all the bad reports I was a little hesitant about going.
The resort itself is great cant fault it, food was ok there was always something you could eat.
I had taken advise from the reports and stocked up on 3 bottles of mosquito repellent which did not help in the slightest.
My memory of the holiday will be of mosquitoes, I had over 80 bites within the first two days and spent the rest of the holiday in alot of discomfort. I was informed that the resort is built on a swamp, someone did have a great idea there!! so the way I see it unless they do something about the mossies (who by the way are on the all inclusive - for free) then they will have a job getting people to go back.

Oct 2005, Miss A C Harrison

Don’t Panic it’s not as bad as people make out!!!. We also booked last minute and had a reasonable time, thought we’d get away from the busy family times by going away in early October but alas full of families with kids of all ranges(don’t know what ever happened to school?) but as people have said there are enough pools that you can usually find somewhere quiet, if not just tut and moan and the kids soon get bored and go back to their families.
Alas the comments about food are true very basic and predictable and no choice if you’re a vegetarian, but great entertainment to watch the families persuade the kids that there was no fast food restaurant available so they either eat it or starve.
Also true about the mossies am still being plagued a week after returning.
The staff are very professional and helpful and the entertainment not bad , all in all a good week of lying by the pool soaking up the sun and relaxing.

Oct 2005, Mrs I Thompson

Had reservations about going to this resort after reading and hearing reviews. We had a brilliant time the weather was perfect and the hotel was better than we expected.
There was plenty of everything, busy pools and quiet pools so you had a choice whatever age group you were in.
The food was plentiful, plenty of healthy fruit and salad, the dining room was a bit like Butlins but the staff were excellent in clearing the tables.
Turkey is a lovely country and we look forward to returning although we will choose a different resort as we would like to see more of the coast.

Oct 2005, Mrs C Shattell

We booked this holiday back in Jan this year and was not looking forward to going after hearing all the bad reviews. Well we were very surprised. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were quite spacious. The pools were quite cold but this didn't seem to put the kids off. The resort was very clean and I didn’t see any rubbish about. The restaurant was like going to Butlins but with so many people there it was no surprise. The food could have been hotter but there was a variety every night. The Themed restaurants were a joke, the portions were tiny and the food wasn't that much different to the buffet restaurant, but we didn't go hungry.
The entertainment wasn't as good as we were hoping, we have been on a few holidays with First Choice and the entertainment has been excellent. The kids disco in the evening was always rushed, it should have been on for an hour but most nights the kids only got 20 mins or so. The professional acts were good but the sound systems didn’t do them any credit. The beach party is worth a visit, the kids loved the laser light and foam party, there was also fireworks.
The excursions were ok would highly recommended Dalyan, excellent day out well worth the money. Markets are all fake clothes and bags, I was hoping to come across more traditional items but no luck.
The doctor on site is very good but English is not to good.
There is not any Non Smoking areas, and for some reason people tend to smoke themselves silly on holiday, so be warned if you are a non smoker sit outside.
The beach is ok, but we were told by the reps that it couldn't be cleaned up due to the fact that the turtles nest there.
Overall we had a great time apart from the evening entertainment, but we made plenty of our own as a family.
Would I go back......maybe in 5 years time when the rest of the town has been developed...beware you are in the middle of nowhere.
If you have young children and like to stay in one place then this would be ideal.
