Karmi Studios & Apartments

We stayed here on a DIY basis and had a brilliant holiday. We had a total surprise as we walked into our studio because for 14 Euros a night for the two of us we had a huge studio on the ground floor, with TV, air con, large bedroom, diner, kitchen, balcony and lovely shower room. It was new so was lovely and clean. The pool was only a few seconds away at the end of the corridor at the back of the building. It was so clean with a small pool attached. The owners and his family were so friendly and even though everything was new and in the process of being up and running it was not like a building site. They had regular visitors from all over who kept going back. It was on a main road from Kolymbari to Platanais/Agia Marina/Chania bus route but it wasn’t noisy.
The main supermarket was about 10 mins walk away and the bigger supermarket and bakery was 15 mins. A couple of restaurants are on the way. Kolymbari is a small sleepy fishing village with fish restaurants on the sea front. The beach is pebbly, which we did not use very often. Although nearby on the beach was a lovely cafe/taverna for drinks etc.
It is a place that is 'between' restaurants, having to walk about 10 mins each way but we didn’t find that a problem. We would suggest hiring a car and touring around the North/South West area as the views are spectacular especially going down to Elafonisos through the gorge, visit the Caves of Sophia. The North coastline has lovely beaches with Falasarna being a favourite but it can get very windy and has lovely little coves to visit with small tavernas along the coast to Kissimos.
Because of the low cost of these studios (don’t be put off by that as they are exceptional value) a car hire would be very useful which you can pick up from the Airport, or even pick up a taxi to go to Chania and get a bus at the bus station which will take you right to the accommodation, approximately 45 mins and would make it even cheaper.
