I had the time of my life at the Finas Hotel and anyone that states different are just stuck up! The staff were wonderful, the entertainment was great and the complex was completely family friendly. Pefkos was amazing, the sea water was so clear that you felt like you was in heaven and it was unreal. I met some fantastic people at the Finas Hotel that made my holiday complete. I would recomment it to anyone! If you are planning on going to the Finas hotel you will be amazed. It is FANTASTIC!!!!
Do not stay at the Finas!!!!!!
We have just returned from an "olympic" holiday staying at the Finas in Pefkos on Rhodes. It was the worst holiday experience we have ever had and here are the reasons why - 1. The room smelt extremely musty on arrival 2. The room was dirty – the floor had not been cleaned; the skirting was very dirty; the chair in the room was stained with an accumulation of sand, dust and hair around the seat; there were cobwebs strung between the walls and furniture; the lampshades were dirty 3. There was insufficient cutlery for 4 people, despite the accommodation being self catering and the room being for 4 to share; there were only 3 glasses 4. The crockery and pans were unwashed and grimy to say the least, with some plates being covered in what appeared to be egg and grease 5. The two single beds were not made up and no bedding supplied for them. We finally received sufficient bedding 3 days later on the evening of 16/6/07. 6. We were supplied with towels for only 2 people. We finally received sufficient towels 4 days later on 17/6/07. 7. Despite the advertised rooms being “either in the lovely garden area or by the swimming pool” our room was neither. Our only view was of the apartment block in front and a patch of bare soil to the side. In addition we were overlooked by people leaving and entering the rooms in front of us who had a full view of our balcony and bedroom area. 8. Privacy was only afforded in the back of the room which was extremely dark due to a lack of windows and poor electric lighting 9. If the bathroom window was open, people on the balcony to the side of us had a full view of anyone on the toilet or in the shower 10. The balcony was unusable for the most part of the day due to being afforded no shade at all, with nowhere to attach a parasol. This meant that we had to eat our lunch indoors in the bedroom while the sun shone outside. Surely this renders the apartment of limited use for self-catering. In addition, the balcony furniture was metal framed which was totally impractical due to the heat 11. The balcony railings were very dirty, making it difficult to dry towels etc 12. There were multiple bags of rubbish left around the complex on a regular basis, and not removed until the following day. This was the case on our arrival, when some bags of rubbish had also been left open. 13. We woke in the mornings to find the floor literally covered with ants that seemed to be making their way to the bin in our kitchen area 14. There was what we believe to be a cockroach in our wardrobe ( we discovered this when we came to unpack after speaking to our rep on the 16th June) . This again suggests a cleaning requirement. 15. The apartments are advertised as brand new, but infact are several years old and our room was shabby with cracked tiles, and musty/unclean upholstery and curtains 16. The internet site states that the Finas apartments are “situated in a quiet part of Pefkos” and suits those who “wish to unwind”. However, while the location of the apartments is in the quieter part of Pefkos, there was noise from bars closer to the town at night. Furthermore, the Finas complex itself is infact very noisy in the evenings sometimes until 2am, with people returning to their apartments as late as 4am. While the information does state that there is karaoke entertainment on site, we feel that the noise levels and lateness of the entertainment is contradictory to advertising that the apartments are in the “quiet part of Pefkos “, and is not conducive to unwinding. Neither is it suitable for families as stated, with children who are trying to sleep. We did not expect noise of anything like this extent when staying in a quiet location. We had hoped for some peace and relaxation and feel that it was reasonable for us to expect this from the advertised information. 17. At our Welcome Meeting, our representative Samantha Allen likened Pefkos nightlife to that of Falaraki. This is not what we were led to believe from the literature about the holiday, and is not the kind of holiday we were looking for. 18. There were two male peacocks on the complex, and we had received no information to this effect. The peacocks were very noisy throughout the nights, and seemed to be quite rivalrous towards each other. During the day they were menacing at times, strutting around and on the balcony, and also racing together towards our balcony when they heard food being opened/brought out. We are a family of animal lovers, but were very off put by the intimidating behaviour of these birds, particularly as they refused to be ‘shooed’ away. In conclusion, the room was unacceptably dirty and was not prepared or equipped to accommodate four people. Despite being sold to us as a self-catering apartment, it was not suitable for self-catering as there was nowhere to prepare food or eat in the apartment other than on the balcony which was intolerably hot and unshaded for most of the day, and was equipped with metal furniture which became very hot and impossible to use. Further, the complex was noisy during the evenings until the early hours of the morning, despite being described as being in a quiet part of Pefkos, which is very misleading at best. We spoke to our representative at our Welcome Meeting on the 14th June, and requested a move. We were told on the 16th that this was not possible. We spent the first 3 days living out of suitcases as we hoped to move and did not unpack. These first days of our holiday were stressful and miserable, and our time taken up with viewing other potential accommodation as advised by our rep. We therefore feel that in addition to the points made above, we lost the first 3 days of our holiday. We would not recommend the Finas to anyone.
Great location - shame about the staff
This was our fifth time staying in Pefkos, but the first time at the Finas. As we had visited Pefkos before, we knew where the apartments were located and from the outside they looked fine. I had read some reviews of the hotel and they seemed ok - apart from a few people mentioning the noise at the bar in the evening. When we were allocated our room I was disappointed to note that it was over looking the bar - but we thought it would be ok... The first night was fine - but not the second. The music from the bar was very loud when we arrived back at our room at about 12.30am. We thought it would die down - but at 1.45am I went to reception to enquire as to when the music would be turned off. The man behind reception was not interested - he said that this was what people complained about the most and there was nothing he could do about it! He asked who our rep was and I mentioned her name - "She's in the bar" he said - "there's a hen night going on - I'll see if I can find her!!". Off he went to the bar - when he came back he said that she had just taken the hen bak to her room and would be back in a couple of minutes. Sure enough - in she staggered a couple of minutes later. Poor soul - I accept she was on her night off and she did her best to sober up when I spoke to her - but you would think that the reps would have more sense than to be part of a loud party within the accommodation they are representing!! She said she would do her best to get the music turned off - and by the time I got back to my room, it had been turned down a little bit! But it didn't go off until 4.30am!! Next morning we asked if we could change rooms - no way - said the rep. I pointed out that there would be a change over on the Saturday so could we not swap rooms with someone who was leaving? No - all those rooms have been allocated!! I pointed out that people would not know which room they had been allocated - the reps reply - "well I do"!!. I couldn't believe it!! Her attittude was not the best. Eventually she agreed that she would speak to the hotel reception and see if we could change to a room away from the bar. They agreed but it would be late change over. Fine we said and on Saturday went back at the allocated time of 10.45pm. A different receptionist said he knew nothing about the change, plus the people in that room had not left yet. (They were due to leave at 10pm). He said it wouldn't be a problem but he was leaving now - and left us in the hands of the third receptionist (he of the previous comments on the noise). Surprise surprise - when we went back half an hour later - he knew nothing about the move either!!!! Anyway - we eventually changed rooms - in terms of the noise it was slightly better. All in all I would say that these apartments were fine - clean, spacious and in a good location. But the staff are not interested in you - unless you are spending money in their bar. The reception staff obviously do not talk to each other at all - and even after the trouble we had not one of them, including the Olympic rep asked whether we were ok once we had moved rooms. If you are staying here I'm sure it will be fine - and you can always buy ear plugs from the pharmacist in Pefkos!!!
FINAS IS FANTASTIC
Have stayed at the Finas 7 times. Have had boozy weeks with friends and family and quiet breaks with the Mrs. Its a great place for a cheap sunny holiday. Good staff good prices good little town. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that doesn't like going to bed too early. YAMAS. Mike. xxx
great time at the finas
weve stayed at the finas 3 times my boyfriend and i are getting married at st pauls bay in oct and we have 35 people staying at the finas with us we are also having a wedding reception there afterwards the rooms are basic but cleaned every day and staff are very friendly
Basic
We booked a group holiday to Rhodes and decieded to stay at the Finas Apartments. Holiday was cheap but i now know why! Rooms are very basic and ours was stuffy with no ventillation. Aircon was expensive 40 euros per week so we went to one of the nearby supermarkets and hired a couple of fans for 10 euros for the two weeks! We had Mould developing in the Bedroom on the ceiling and some plaster coming off the walls. Shower rail was not fixed and easily fell down. If I had a crystal ball and knew truly what the hotel was like I would of spent £50 more on my holiday and stayed elsewhere in one of the nicer hotels in Pefkos. Reception was spacious and clean and bar food simple and was perfectly edibale. Couldn't make up my mind on the staff most were ok but I cant say they were the friendlest of staff if I compare them to my other greek holidays which I have been on. Pool area was nice and pretty with lots of sunbeds although some were in need of repair. Overall if your after a cheap holiday with no frills then stay at the Finas otherwise spend a few quid more and go elsewhere in Pefkos as it is one of the nicest resorts in Rhodes. Can recommend Rodos cars for a car hire company - Excellent service with a good choice of well presented vehicles.
Excellent
Excellent time was had by all at this great hotel. It offers excellent value for money, and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. This place offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, particularly the bar and restaurant staff.
Top holiday
Having never been to Greece before, I would definately go to the Finas again. Very friendly and helpful staff. There were 21 of us out there for a wedding aged from 5 up to 70 and everyone had a ball (some more than others I might add). It took until the second night to get the holiday beer head on but the bar staff AND residents commented that hadn't had a night like that for ages (a couple of fishbowl cocktails did the trick). The restaurant at the Finas was very good value and left us feeling stuffed, as did most of the places we ate at. The greek house restaurant was excellent, even when 17 of us turned up. Can recommend the kleftiko here. Enigma (ate here 3 times), also nice, but took a while serving the food (maybe as there were 17-21 to serve). Mixed grill is massive!! The Indian/Chinese (yes, mixed) was also good. The ribs in the Pefkos by Night Chippy (oh yes!!) were quality. This is the only meal I've EVER had where the food did look like the photo of it in the menu. Vinos didn't do it for me, but if you ask nicely you will get a free glasses case. The taverna you can see from the Finas bar (I can't remember the name) I would give a wide berth next time, but it may float someones boat, but not mine. The beach was only a five minute walk away, with a choice of the busy big beach or the cosy small beach. I would also recommend the Go-Karting at Lardos, the 'maze' that is Lindos (lovely town) and the cheese pie from The Pefkos bakery. Yammas
i agree with Don`t stay Here
i have to agree with dont stay here particually if you want to sleep at night. the music from the bar was extremely loud. it sounded like it was in our room, we stayed below the bar!!!! for 3 nights we had to put up with the noise and loud shouting from the bar. we were told "this is how it is" from the reception. no one seemed to have the authority to deal with this. all the mangement and owner seemed to care about was putting money over the bar. there were plenty of guests like ourselves who found the noise objectionable. if it would have stopped at 12 or 1 am that would be acceptable or kept the music to a reasonable level. one night it was 4.40 before it stopped. The rooms were reasonable. the location was good. but they clearly want to think about all thier Clientele.
great holiday resort-family of four from scunthorpe
the finas was a superb base for what we wanted in a family holiday. the resort is full of good quality restaurants and nice friendly bars (no amusments, thank god). we only ate once in the finas at night, although the food was ok we found very good quality food elsewhere. most nights we ventured out to eat then headed back to the finas pool bar. which was on most nights, nice and relaxed, but on some occasions went crazy with drinking games, singing etc... "aris and his babys eh". this was more so on change over days. the rooms at the finas were basic and clean. the pool area was clean and we had no problems getting a poolside sunbed (without getting up at dawn). the beach was nice and clean and the sea was great with good snorkling (if your into that sort of thing). i would recommend the glass bottom boat trip from pefkos, well worth the money. a trip to lindos day and night is worth it. costs 6 euro in taxi. we met some good friends through are stay here and would go back to the finas sometime in the future.
