We have just come back from our holiday/honeymoon in the gorgeous town of Pefkos in Rhodes and once again the town did not disappoint. Gorgeous weather, beautiful scenery and friendly people. The only thing that let the whole thing down was the Finas Hotel. On our arrival at the apartment the first thing we found was the broken chair in the corner (it was on 3 legs!). Then we had a bed-settee where the back was not level with the rest of it when laid flat so we woke up the next morning with a bad back. Then there was the kettle which switched itself of when it felt like it. If you weren't keeping an eye on it then it would boil for the rest of the day. On top of all that the room itself was a fire hazard as there was only 1 door and 1 window at the front of the apartment and nothing at the back so if there was a fire by those exits then we were goners. All in all the place itself was fantastic we just happened to get a crap hotel that did let it down a bit.

What a wonderful start to your holiday when you turn up having booked a One Bed Apartment for privacy for yourself and 12 year old son to be placed in a ground floor studio apartment. These apartments are currently being refurbished, unfortunately we were allocated one that hadn't been done yet. Olympic adverstised the apartment as being in the garden area or by the pool but the one we were allocated was by a brick wall and the side of other apartments with no view. I know facilities in Greece are basic but this apartment wasn't even that. There was nowhere to prepare food and the fridge and two ring cooker were grotty. The handle on the fridge was broken, the chair/fourth bread was also broken and couldn't be used, luckily there were only three of us. There was damp on the wall and inside the wardrobe and we had to ask for the bedding and towels to be changed. Some of the staff were polite and helpful however some of them weren't.
Overall the complex looks nice and the pool area is clean and tidy.
The resort was cheap with plenty of bars and restaurants. Overall the holiday was okay but the accomodation put a big downer on things.

Hi this comment may sound that is a bit late, but read on and you will see why its not.
My wife and myeself never had a honeymoon due to serving in northern ireland,
so when are children were old enough to be trusted we took are first holiday together/honeymoon. We went to the pefkos studios 13 years ago and had a fnantastic time, so relaxing and great staff, are room was overlooking the
sea from the window and from the door seconds from the pool apt 6 or 9.
The holiday was great and we had great times in pefkos, and the Bar we will
aways remember is the pefkos by night bar.
4 years later we returned, pefkos was still a lovely place with a few
developments, we again stayed at the Finas and they were having new buildings
erected, the noise was bad very bad. We tried to put it out of are minds as it
was due to lots of heavy rain falls had put the building work behind, but we were never told in advance of this, so we went to the pool to relax and do what we all do round the pool, then out of the blue music starts blasting out from the bar
and is was only 9.30 am and it was at the volume asto cover the constrution work.
We asked like other guests did, for them to lower the volume a bit, but it fell
on deaf ears. so on other days we went to other hotels and used their pools or
the beach.. BUT its now great to hear its got its act back and people are again ejoying them selfs. we are now thinking of returning there.

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Finas Apartments in Pefkos, Rhodes and found a poor quality of the studio accommodation (room 170) and low level of maintenance.
Our booking confirmed we could expect a 3 star studio with inland view and we quite expected the accommodation to be basic, no frills. However the accommodation was to our mind uninhabitable due to the strong smell of sewage which assailed our nostrils when entering the studio. And on further investigation we soon discovered that the studio had been less than well maintained:
No working smoke alarm
Holes in the curtains
Filthy floor and kitchen area (food waste and splashes clearly visible)
Thick mould on the bathroom tiles and shower curtain
Toilet seat stuck on with duck tape
Bathroom cleanliness less the acceptable
Rusty railings and table on the balcony
We might also add that there was rubbish and debris strewn around the external areas to the accommodation block.
Photographic evidence of some of the above can be seen at: www.flickr.com/photos/sufur/
Quickly deciding to return to the reception and request another room, we were told that nothing could be done until the Olympic Holiday rep return at 3.30 pm that day. We were told to have a sleep and wait! The condition of the studio made rest impossible - and we did not unpack as we would not be staying. The receptionist informed us that there were no other studios habitable and gave us keys to check this for ourselves. The other studios were water damaged and in a dreadful state.
We were informed that all other habitable studios were booked and our only option was to upgrade to an apartment - at a cost of 170 euro. To add further insult we were then informed that the additional cost would have to be made in cash and that this had to given to the Olympic Holidays rep in person. Being told that the apartment could be booked by others until payment was made we were left with a stressful 3hr wait before a rep arrived to take payment.
We liked Pefkos and have just booked to return to Pefkos but have booked with Thomson at the Pefki Islands Resort.

I must admit I was a bit aprehensive about staying at these apartments after reading some of the reviews but I needn't have worried, it was fantastic.
Although rooms are basic they have everything you need. I arrived about 4 in the afternoon and was shown straight to my room - although on my confirmation it said inland view I had an amazing view of the sea from my balcony.
I travelled with a couple of friends who were staying in a different apartment which had a lovely pool view and although it was above the bar area, was not too noisy.
The staff at the Finas are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble and if you fancy staying around the pool bar a few nights there is always plenty of entertainment and the bar staff are always up for a laugh.
The food at the bar is great for lunch time snacks or dinner and is very reasonable.
The resort itself is lovely. There is a bit of a steep hill down to beach so walking back up is a bit of a nightmare but think of those thigh muscles at the end of the week!!!
Taxis are also very reasonable as a form of transport. We went into Lindos a couple of nights and it only cost us 7 euros each way so between 3 of us it wasn't a lot at all.
All in all a fantastic holiday and I would definitely go back again.

Just returned from 2 weeks at Finas apartments in Pefkos. i had read loads of quite bad reviews and was dreading going!!! I needn't have worried it was fantastic!! the rooms we had were simple but modern, comfortable and sufficiently equipped - even had hair dryer in bathroom! We were v. close to pool on one side and overlooked beautiful gardens on balcony side. Cleaners came in every other day, clean towels and sheets provided. Pool very clean with good atmosphere. Poolside snacks/restaurant good value and choice. You have to have air con!!! 45 euros per week but you will not survive without it -and its so worth it after a day of heat in excess of 44 degrees!! Safe also available at 15 euros. The resort itself is lovely, you cannot imagine how many places to eat there are!! ( I recommend the Colleseum for all tastes, large portions and desserts to die for!!) There are plenty of free pools around resort so look around. Our party was there for a Wedding at St Pauls Bay - absolutely beautiful location! I would warn however that young children found heat really difficult to cope with, and also be aware that should you require a doctor the E111 cards are not valid and you have to pay to see Doctor then claim back on insurance ( 70 Euros plus cost of prescription- in our case another 70 euros- for simple ear infection!!). to sum up ..dont be put off by negative reviews you may have read.. it was fantastic and would recommend it to anyone!!

Just spent 2 weeks at Finas with my family (hubby, 2 children & my mum-in-law) and we had a wonderful time. We were originally going to stay in Afandou but changed our holiday a couple of weeks before leaving the Uk and only checked the reviews after we booked and were a little worried by some of them.
Accommodation (rooms 161 and 162) was basic (as expected) but the friendly reception staff, amusing bar staff and wonderful waiters made up for this. Food was fantastic and the location was great. Only a 5 - 10 minute walk to the beach with bars / restuarants etc on hand.
Will definitely visit Finas again!

I Went To Finas Apartments With My Mum & Dad For Two Weeks Starting On 30th July. The Morning We Arrived We Found The Room Very Basic, And Our See View Was Simply An Electrical Pole With A Bit Of Sea Peeping Through. We Arrived At Six In The Morning, And We Went Straight To Sleep. It Was Difficult To Sleep That Morning As It Was So Hot. We Found That Air Conditioning Was A Must. The Only Problems With The Room Was That The Kitchen Area Was A Little Small, And We Only Had One Small Table To Eat Around. We Only Had Two Chairs Too, But The Cleaner Gave Us An Extra To, So That Was Okay.
After The First Few Days The Basic Kitchen Was Not A Problem As We Only Used It Too Cook Small Meals, I Would Not Recommend Cooking Big Meals Around The Kitchen. The Cafe/Restraint Is Very Nice, And Is Very Reasonable In Price. The Staff Are Very Friendly And Helpful.
The Bar Gets Lively On A Few Nights, Mainly Karaoke Night, Which Is A Very Good Night. The Bar Staff Allow You To Dance On The Bar If You Feel Like It. Me & My Friends Did, And That Was One Of The Best Nights. The Drinks Are Fairly Cheep And In Happy Hour Even Cheaper!! On The Finas Site, There Is A Childs Play Area, A Sheltered And Well Lit Games Room, Including Pool Tables, Dance Mat Machine, And Several Other Games. In The Reception There Are Three Free Internet Computers With Are Very Useful! The Pool Is A Fair size, Although It Did Get Quite Crowded During My Second Week. There Are Plenty Of Sunbeds Around The Pool, With Shade If You Want It. There Are Also Many Sunbeds On A Higher Level. I Liked The Fact That At Night, You Could Sit On The Sunbeds And Watch The Stars, Whilst Listening To The Sound Of The Music From The Bar.
On A Few Nights From My Room, 106 I Could Hear The Hotel Down The Road Singing Karaoke Till One In The Morning. This Wasn't A Problem, But If The Person Was A Bad Singer Then It Was! The Local Beach Was Only A Five Minute Downhill Walk From Finas, And On The Way We Stopped At A Pool That Was Quieter Than Ours.
Me And My Sister Spent Alot Of Time Without My Parents At The Night Time, But We Were Only Around The Bar/Pool And My Mum And Dad Knew They Had Nothing To Worry About As The Finas Is A Very Safe Place. We Both Met Friends On The Holiday, Everybody Is Friendly.
There Is Plenty To Do In Rhodes, We Visited The Beach A Lot Of Times, Went To The Water park On The Local Bus, Booked A Trip To Symi, Which Personally I Don't Think It Was Worth The Money, As It Was A Small Island And You Didn’t Have Much Time There. We Also Hired A Car And Drove To Where The Two Sea's Meet, Which Is Defiantly Worth Seeing, And We Also Drove Up To Rodos Old Town Which Was A Nice Day Out. Most Days Me and My Sister Stayed Round The Pool With Our Friends, And This Day Was Just As Much Fun As Going To The Water Park. There Is A Lively Atmosphere At Night, The Bar Staff Make You Feel Welcome and Always Have You Laughing. If You Dance On The Bar There Might Even Be A Chance To Enjoy A Free Shot With The Bar Staff! There Are Many TV’s Around The Bar, Showing The Best Sports. Finas Is Not Such A Big Place, But Big Enough. The Local Shop Is Just At The End Of The Road The Pool Is On, About A Minute Walk From The Pool!
The Main Restraints In Pefkos Is About A 10 Min Walk From Finas, And I Would Recommend The Restraints That Have 3 Courses For 8.99, Very tasty And Worth The Money! There Are Also Lots Shops To Buy Little Gifts Or Souvenirs. There Are Also A Few Lively Bars Along That Main Strip.
There Aren’t Any Faults I Can Pick Out With Finas, Except There Are Many Cats Roaming Around The Complex, But They Will Be There Anywhere In Rhodes, Just Throw Water Near Them, And The Won't Bother You Again. I Would Advise That You Get Air Con, As Without It I Found It Impossible To Sleep! It’s 45 Euros Per Week. However, Do Not Have It On Too Cold, Because When We Had Ours On 17oC I Had A Cold For The First Few Days Of My Holiday!
Overall, Finas, Pefkos Is The Best Holiday Iv Been On, The Apartments Are Basic, But You Only Sleep In Them Anyway! My Family And Me Are So Happy With Our Holiday This Year, That We Are Returning The Same Time Next Year To Finas And We Look Forward To It Very Much!

After going for many years to Rhodes and staying in various locations across the island ( including Pefkos ) I have found the Finas to be the best hotel we have stayed in. Our studio ( 133 ) was spotless and adequate, it had everything we needed for our stay. Plenty of drawers, cupboard space and coathangers. The essentials eg. toilet, sink, linen and towels were cleaned spotlessly 3 times a week. The restaurant serves fantastic food and is very cheap. We did try a few places in the town but after a while decided we could not get anything better or cheaper around !!!
The pool was very clean, suitable for any age and open 12 hours a day ( 8 - 8 ) which made it accessable for all.
Most nights there was entertainment and the quiz night was especially enlightening as we only got 24/65 !!!!!! ( bearing in mind there was 3 of us and about 10 on the winning table !!!! ) All the staff were very funny and friendly and there was a receptionist on 24 hours a day which made us feel very safe and comfortable. There were safety deposit boxes in the reception area which made life a whole lot easier ( 10 euros per week ) and also a laundry but we didn't try that. We went on excursions to the water park at Faliraki for a day and Tsambika beach and also a Catamaran ( which was fantastic !!!!! ) Our First Choice rep ( Rachael ) was lovely and was extremely helpful and friendly. DO NOT be put off with bad comments as after we had booked we started to wonder what we had to come !!! But we still have much much more to do so we have booked for even longer next year and can not wait to go again !!!!! :D

First time we have visited Rhodes. Booked in January BEFORE we read some of the negative comments and we did get a bit nervous about going.
Room 103 - first impression, very small, but it was enough for two of us. Laminate floor, wardrobe, bedside draws, dresser and 2 draws. Cooking was on 2 electric rings, toaster and a kettle. Just enough pots and utensils, we did manage to cook some very nice meals on that. The verandah is overshadowed slightly by the stairs to the higher blocks, this did not stop the light from getting in, worked to the advantage in that direct sun did not flood the room keeping it slightly cooler than most of the other rooms. In fact we managed a week without air con, before buying it (45 euros a week).
Room was clean, and we had fresh linen and towels 3 times a week. Cleaner was cheerful and thorough.
The verandah also has its own little family of birds - 4 chicks and parents. Empty during the day, but kept us entertained at night!
Reception open 24 hours, found all the staff friendly and very helpful. Three computors with free internet, though you do have to battle past the youngsters to get on! It also has a laundry - though did not use that.
Bar staff VERY friendly, entertainment most nights, food at the restaurant was fantastic and resonable priced. Fair sized pool and plenty sunbeds on 3 levels, did not have a problem getting a bed on the days we wanted one. As mentioned - it is a family resort and the pool area gets quite busy during the day - if you just want to swim leave it till after 5.30pm.
Tour rep was friendly enough, when she was around and she did sort out a problem with noisy upstairs quite quickly. Tours are a bit on the dear side, but the Rhodes afternoon tour with evening meal and boat trip was excellent. Reccomend that one - especially if you are lucky enough to get Anthony our Guide - he was very helpful, full of knowledge.
We would come back to Finas again.

I travelled as a single parent with kids 16,7 and 5. It was a last min booking £1000 for a fortnight in July. The review were not great but we were pleasantly surprised, our 1 bed apartment was nice, clean, basic but comfortable at the back of hotel. Air-con was a must and was 45 Euro a week.
The hotel is on a steep slope and paths uneven could be problem foe older travellers and push chairs.
There was no kids club but the pools and play ground were clean and safe The restaurant was reasonably priced with freshly made food and was better than a lot of other places. A BBQ Twice weekly was popular at 7 Euros(free kids) The staff were friendly and helpful.
It was a 5-10 min walk to the town, slightly longer to the beach so location in the heat a minus point.
Overall for the money I thought it was good value, we left as the school holidays had started and it was very hot and the pool seemed small for the number of people there then which I hadn't previously noticed,it was a good base for a no frills family holiday, if your looking for a little luxury pay more, you get what you pay for?
