we stayed at the finas in august 09 and yes it is abit basic but its what you would expect. the staff, pool and food is excellent and make holidays so enjoyable. Pefkos its self is the nice part of rhodes with being both peacefull and also buzzing. i would reccomend it for anyone, the best resteraunt is:
Coralli- out of the center, on the way to lardos but is one of the best on the island, fantastic value and great food.
Eclips, the italian and two brothers are also great !!!
- Advice: calm, great fun, fantastic value for money
- Good For: Beach

My hubby and myself stayed at Finas apps. at the end of season and although severe weather conditions are an act of nature, we should not have been restricted to sitting on the bed for three days of our holiday because our floor was 1 inch high in water. The Olympic Holidays rep. finished for the season on the Tuesday and was totally ineffective, and the hotel staff said that they could not move us. After the first downpour the maid mopped up for us, for the next two days we were shown where the cleaning cupboard was and invited to help ourselves to towels and a mop and bucket. We could not sleep because we did not know what we were going to wake up to. Having arrived on the Sunday, we were finally moved to a smaller room on the Wednesday afternoon by which time the storms had passed. There was a dreadful smell in the new room, we could not work out whether it was coming from the fridge or the toilet because they were located opposite each other. Thursday evening we returned from a lovely day out in Lindos to find our room crawling with wildlife some sort of a cross between a centipede and a worm. I shook the curtains and more fell down. Some consolation was that the manager did allow us to keep on our room for our night flight on the Saturday for free although the staff closed the bar and restaurant at about 9.30pm, a good 3 hours before our pick up. Generally they were ok as long as you did that not present them with a problem, although the restaurant waiter was lovely. I think that they just wanted us to go home.
No sleep again. Hubby managed to. The apartments are clearly not maintained and the flooding was due to the threshold strip of the door to a large sun deck (which sloped towards the apartment not the drain!) having come unstuck. Although it was an end of season holiday it was a popular school break week so we paid full whack. Our advice is definitely go to Pefkos, a lovely resort, try the beach restaurants Phillosophia and Flying bar, but DO NOT stay at Finas late season. We sent Olympic Holidays a letter of complaint with pictures as evidence at the end November, but have received no reply four months later.

Went there for my sisters wedding.
My wife and i stayed at Finas
and my sister stayed at some fancy 4 star hotel.
Guess who had the best place ? yes us
Finas is a well maintained place, with great staff.
its very clean and is one of the very few to have lush green grass. the pool is great fun and clean with loads on beds.
we were there for two weeks and only 3 time we dined out to other restaurants, as the food was so nice there.
the evening were always great fun.
again we tried other bars but always ended back at the finas bar with the rest of the family who were staying in other places.
great if you have kids as there is a play area pool tables and also internet.
there is also a handy little supermarket right on the entrance which also were very nice.
I made some real good friends there, some of which im still in contact with.
hope this helps anybody who is looking
and thanks to all the Finas staff for making my holiday :)

If you are given the choice of death by lethal injection or staying HERE,then chose the needle. Apart from the Mould in the bathroom and the 2inches of dust, grime and rubbish under the beds, the broken Smoke Alarm and total lack of help from THOMPSONS REP or staff when a complaint was made. I was made to feel like leper when i enquired if it would be possible for the cleaner to clean my room as it was dirty. The THOMPSON REP told me it was the responsibility of the outgoing person to clean it!!! I think the red ants done a better clean up job and i would strongly advise anyone against staying here. And to charge me 40 euros to keep my room untill my early morning flight when other more up market complexes were charging only 20 euros was beyond belief, The weather was brilliant and the rest of Pefkos was nice, pity my holiday was spoilt by lack of support by Thompson rep or Skytours or whatever they go under these days.
I will never book througfh these operator again

If you want the "real Greece" experience etc, Pefkos and Finas will not be for you. So, know what you're booking and you shouldn't be too disappointed! If you want upmarket luxury, you pay (very) handsomely for this in Greece no matter where you go. Otherwise, on a budget package you will get basic. Finas is clean.. and basic. We stayed in a one bedroom aptment. Its fine. No TV, which is fine by us - who goes on holiday to watch telly? Kitchens are badly equipped. No sharp knife, no tea towels, basic pans. Very few sockets in the apartment, so if you have a few appliances, be prepared to swap over several items at one time! There is a two ring hob, kettle and..er..thats about it! No worksurfaces at all apart from the one draining board, but hey, Greece is ll about being resourceful. Get into the spirit, and you wont be sobbing in the bathroom! Bathroom is fine, small, but adequate. Towels etc changed every two days. Great. Having read other reviews about raw sewage running down the paths, it would appear there was a mother of a storm in 2008, which by all accounts did catch Finas by surprise, so maybe this is the explanation for that. Definitely no rats, sewage etc etc when we were there. The gardens are really quite nice so Finas - generally, basic but pleasant enough. The pool area seemed ok to me although we're beach bums so only there on the first day to get over the horrible Olympic Holidays night flight. Bit worn, but hardly dilapidated. However, you do walk around Pefkos peering into other places' pools and think .. ooh, thats nice, but you get over it.lol. Finas is set on steep hill, so dont go if you aren't up to hillwalking.
Olympic apartments are at the rear of the complex, and yes - are over the bar!! Not all, but I'd say about 6 - 8 apartments get the joy of the "lively" bar atmosphere - all night. Ah, the Finas Bar. What can I say? Karaoke Mon and Fri - very very very very loud till about 3am. My advice? If you like karaoke, join 'em, cos you wont be sleeping. If you cant stand karaoke, plan a night out in the village and dont come back til its finished, or you are so drunk you'll sleep through people murdering perfectly decent songs. we're not karaoke folk, so avoided it. Other ents include bingo, pub quiz .. like I said, not the Greek experience you may be looking for! However, I cant say we didnt have a few good laughs of an evening at the bar - friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks. Finas is a very English place, so expect to meet Geordies, Mancs, Brummies etc. Lot of football shirts etc. Whatever is your thing!
Pefkos is a purpose built resort almost attached to the very picturesque Lindos. Its really an overspill, as building in lindos is very restricted. So, Greek? No not really. Charming? No, not really. Lots and lots of restaurants, bars, cocktail bars etc. I found it all pretty impersonal, but thats me. Not surprisingly, lots of full english breakfasts on offer, ketchup with your moussaka and so on. Big screens in practically every bar/restaurant so the faithful can follow .. the footie. yikes. We eventually found great place, Greek menu, no screens called Hellas Garden, where they clearly care about the food and service and is well priced. bars etc .. couldnt recommend any, as they are all pretty much of a muchness. Went to Rock Bar few times. OK. Rest - same. But it was september, no SO busy, and again we're not big barflys, or clubbers so didnt bother us. Anywhere they'd serve me a havana club and diet coke was cool with me.
Beaches. OMG. arrived on 'Central Beach' - gutted. Small strip of sand enough for two rows of packed sunbeds! If you've been to Portugal beaches, you'll wonder why you didnt go back there! Not great. But, luckily, found the fab little Plakia beach (end of village, turn left to Lardos, its on left) Great, natural little cove, plenty of room, presumably because everyones packing themseives in like sardines on central beach. there are sunlounger in the first area of the beach, but if you walk two minutes further, you hit a decent sized natural beach, where you can just throw down your towel and hang out with the 10 or 12 other folk that like you, are happy to have found the little gem!! Btw, sunloungers are 8euro/day. For 14 days thats over £100!!! buy a parasol from one of the many supermarkets, and get on with it cheap and cheerful style.
Out and about - as there is really nothing to see in Pefkos, do the obligatory trip to Lindos(3K). It is very Greek style pretty and traditional, but after 10.30am, you will be fighting your way through the tiny streets, and elbowing your path through German tour groups, whilst trying to avoid looking at any goods for sale as this will invite a shopowner to start pulling out everything in the shop to show you, whilst you try explaining that you're actually just stuck behind the portly American lady! Acropolis - apparently worth the walk up - very old! (left the boyfriend to bring back photos, while I had a iced coffee.)
Lardos - erm. Not much there, but a good fish shop if you cooking in on one of your two saucepans (ha ha)
But do get a car if you have time (GAM Hire down from Finas - really nice guy, open to deals, reasonable and helpful) Do go to Prassonisi in the south, its amazing - if you have the energy, walk to the lighthouse and down to the little bay for a dip on the way back(you'll need it! _ Rhodes is hot!) Its gorgeous. We loved going up into the mountains, really amazing views. And a little place called Monolithos if you can. Very special. If you suffer from vertigo, Id keep my eyes closed on the way up there though!! Some gorgeous beached on the West side on the south, usually signposted from the road. Worth a look. we only hired for 2 days, so didnt get to Rhodes town etc, but it was enough to break up our continual hanging on the beach (Joy)
All in all, I loved it, but I knew i was booking a budget package - mainly for a total chill out and a tan with my lovely man! So it hit all my needs. But Ive travelled in Greece alot working, so have been spoilt for the real Greek stuff, which is fab, but Im long over backpacking these days. So Finas / Pefkos. Its OK. Would I recommend it? Yeah, if thats what you want, nothing too challenging. Would I go back. No.
If you go, enjoy...dont spend you're holiday moaning!!!

We have recently returned from Pefkos having stayed at the Finas Apartments. Our room was very comfortable with great sea views and the staff were all very nice and friendly. The kitchen area was very small and basic but adequate to pull a breakfast together and as this was the extent of our intended self-catering that was fine. The sink could have been a bit cleaner but we had clean towels/sheets every couple of days and the bins were emptied daily. The bar was lively but if you don't like that there are lots of other places to go. I would recommend Philosophia for the food and the crazy owners and Kavos Mare for the more relaxed atmosphere and good quality fish. My absolutely favourite restaurant was Kyma beach restaurant. The food was beautifully presented, delicious and cheaper than a lot of other places in Pefkos. Don't be put off by the 'all day breakfast' type cafe downstairs (Lee Beach), they also have all the authentic Greek food you might like. Having said that it was always busy so the English food they served must have been good too. All in all we had a very relaxing holiday and I would recommend the apartments and the resort. I should add it is a very steep walk to the beach and a killer on the way back but after 2 weeks we feel much fitter!

After reading other reviews after I had booked, I admit to being a bit worried about these apartments. And with reason. we were allocated room 102 and it was awful The room was dirty, with mould in one corner of the bedroom and along a side wall. A chair in the living area only had three legs and the toilet seat was broken.Complained to the rep but 2 weeks later they were still broken. It was dark inside the room and we had to have the lights on all the time. Outside you didnt have your own space like the other rooms (balcony or small patio) so you felt on show every time you sat outside. We have been going to Greece for 20 years and this is the worst apartment so far.
- Advice: Pefkos is brilliant great beaches good restaurants
- Activities: All the restaurants we went to were really good we didnt have one bad meal

After booking the holiday at last minute through Olympic Holidays I was horrified to read the reviews... I was expecting a holiday from hell... We arrived in the middle of the night to be met by a sullen receptionist called Stretch, he checked us in, gave us the keys and directed us where to go. We lugged our suitcases up steps and slopes and arrived at our apartments - we had booked two 1 bedroom apartments. The apartments are your typical Greek apartments - basic, but clean. There is only a sink and 2 cooking rings so if your looking at cooking i dont recommend it. The cleaners emptied our bins daily and cleaned twice a week.
The next morning we awoke early and decided to spend the day around the pool, on arriving at the pool the only sunbeds available were the ones by a water feature which was pretty enough - but it smelt bad !! So the next day we decided to get up early and put our towels out on the decent sunbeds on the far side of pool away from the shallow end as the kiddies pool is what we wanted to be near by. Early is 8.30am so not so bad ! and plenty of beds available around this time and no towels out the night before....The water polo is great fun - Clare Bear the Rep involves all the kids and adults and everyone gets involved..
The nights at Finas are great if you like a lively bar - Karaoke on Monday and Friday evening which goes on til Midnight and then the bar plays music until the early hours (2.30am), Quiz Night, Mamma Mia Night - so this bar is not for the light hearted. Our apartments both backed onto the bar, I spent my time in the bar enjoying myself most evenings with my children (teenagers) I did experience an early night once, and was kept awake for a few hours, but I eventually nodded off.
The entertainment for children is basic, 3 computers with internet access which you pay for - 1 euro for 20 minutes. 2 PS2's and you rent games for 2E each for an hour, 3 pool tables which were 1E 50c for a game. And some slot machines.
The food at Finas is ok - not memorable, but nice enough and cheaper than alot of places in town. I dont recommend the BBQ as it was awful. I can recommend the pukka pies and fish and chips though :) oh and the cooked breakfast was great at 6 euros and the toasties were ample for lunch at 2 euros and they did them as you liked them - you just need to build a rapport up with Stavros and he is more than happy to please.
The staff at the Finas are great, quite hard to work out at first, but once you start a conversation with them and say good morning etc, they soon warm to you. Stavros and Arthur who work the restaurant are both very friendly, Rachael and Aris who run the bar are great and Campbell (aka Tigger) just loves working - he laughs and dances all night behind the bar and loves hitting his cymbals which hang above the bar...
The walk to the beach is down hill and takes about 10 minutes - I recommend going to the quietest part of the beach which is straight down the hill and passed the supermarket at the bottom of the hill.. the sand here is not at all shingly and the water is gorgeous. For lunch or early dinner to watch the sunsets I highly recommend the restaurant overlooking the beach "Philosophia" the owner is English and the views are breathtaking.
The Eclipse bar is somewhere where you can go and jump off a cliff into a pool - not for the faint hearted, but great fun. I recommend "Nostalgia" for food - all our meals were faultless and the staff helpful. Enigma Restaurant looks amazing, but the food was disgusting, I sent mine back and refused to pay. Zorba is good if your on a budget as you can have 3 courses for less than 10 euros - and the menu is extensive. The Glass Bottom Boat is a must !! 20 euros for 2 hrs at 1pm - but definitely worth every penny.. Avoid the Waterpark if you have any children under the age of 8 years old as there is not much there for you to do if you have a child under this age - irrelevant to them having a kids section as there are so many restrictions...
ALL IN ALL - I would definitely go back to Finas Apartments if I was on a tight budget as it has everything you need - but, it is not for those who want a romantic get away or those who like early nights or those who just think they can get 5 Star treatment for under £1,500 for 2 weeks !! its basic, its clean and its a holiday I enjoyed and so did my children (Aged 17,14,12,5)

We went with our 2 children both under 8.
We have previously stayed at this hotel a number of times in the past although this was over 3 years ago. The hotel used to be used by Direct Holidays and I can only presume they no longer use is as it is not up to their standards - it has certainly gone downhill.
I was concerned before going by some of the earlier reviews about the state of the rooms, however our apartment was fine, fairly typical of Greek hotels i.e. basic but it was clean and there were no issues with it other than its location but I will come on to that.
The room was located immediately behind the bar, and as they had Karaoke twice a week which went on until late - followed by loud music, sleeping was an issue for us while this was going on until 2am.
I didn't use the toilets in public area but my wife did and said the ladies were filthy!
The hotel has grown over the years with new blocks of apartments being added, while there are plenty of sunbeds around not all of these are right by the pool. The ones by the pool are at a premium and as a result these were being reserved either at the crack of dawn or in some cases by people putting towels out the night before - very annoying when these people show up at lunchtime and stay for a few hours!
If you do manage to get a bed by the pool you can look forward to the afternoon water polo game organised by one of the staff. If you join in its fine, if you want to relax and sunbathe you can look forward to the ball being frequently knocked onto you or your beds if you are by the shallow end of the pool. It can get quite annoying.
Food at the hotel was OK, but nothing special, reasonably priced in general but be careful if you want orange juice with your breakfast - we asked for 3 glasses and were given fresh orange and charged 3 euros a glass. We didn't go to the BBQ night so I can't comment on that but while it says kids eat free there is no choice for them - its sausage and chips!
All in all the Finas has gone downhill since we last went and all the staff are new, some were OK and some were sullen unless you spent a lot of time (and money) at the bar. The hotel is showing its age now and the pool is too small for the number of rooms and in my oppinion needs renewing, it is showing signs of being patched up in places and some of the marble surrounding it was worn and had some sharp edges.
If you want cheepish beer (compared to bars in the centre), late nights, karakoe/loud music and you dont mind either getting up at the crack of dawn or not being by the pool you will probably enjoy it. If you want a relaxing family break it may not be for you. We would not go back again.

just back from pefkos will return next year as it is a nice place, nice and relaxing, but not the finas apartments. Run down shabby rooms, very noisy bar till all hours, even though law seems to be 24.00 music off, if you want to sample greece this is not the hotel to book, british staff, except for aris, who thinks he is scottish, if you dont get drunk every night in their bar they are not nice people to you. Been to many greek islands, know what to expect, but can honestly say this is the worst ever!
