Center Parcs Longleat Forest Reviews
" cleanliness and repairs "
Submitted By: komoriWe have always loved Centre Parcs and cannot believe how far the cleanliness has fallen(I read the lady from Warminsters review and agree although I did not cleanit as she did.
I have always used the Parcs as a place to relax from my stressful business but the start of this holiday only increased it.The rest of the week I did relax but only because we put the cleanlines thing behind us BUT I will be passing on my fears to central office of center parcs.

" Take cleaning supplies with you! "
Submitted By: zekepesWe returned back a year later, paying extra for 'executive' accomodation, and arrived to find one of the toilets in our 'clean' chalet was covered in vomit! I then decided to clean the whole place properly myself whilst my husband took the kids out. Not a great start to a very expensive weekend!
I love the idea of center parcs and found it to be really enjoyable BUT the whole cleanliness thing has me really on edge. I would go back for the kids but I would also feel the need to thoroughly clean the chalet on arrival! I know they have sixth formers from the local high school cleaning there, which says it all really!
We have friends who live in Warminster itself who drive to Sherwood forest instead. Apparently it is much nicer and not as hilly.

" It was ok "
Submitted By: klesterInside I was a bit disappointed....I hated the restaurants at the Plaza as the food was a tad rubbish - clearly catering for the masses and not paying much attention to quality. The Pancake House was also a bit disappointing. We waited at the door to be seated for 10 minutes and staff walked passed us but just never acknowledged us. In the end we sat ourselves down and it took a good 15 minuted before anyone brought a menu etc. The staff looked miserable.
The pool is lovely and my son was mesmerised! There are lots of little areas that make it so much more interesting than your basic swimming pool. It was warm and there are lots of places to sit and watch.
We booked our son into the creche so that we could make use of the Aqua Sana (again lovely and very a great range of treatments). They were very secure and I knew that my son was safe. The room was lovely and well set out with a good range of appropriate equipment. However....when I collected him I was told that he had woken up 45 minutes previously and my husband asked if his nappy had been changed. The lady looked a little shocked and said that of course it had not as he had not been awake long enough! Thank goodness he did not have a dirty nappy!!! I am sure that 45 minutes is ample time to change a nappy.
The Woodland Lodge we stayed at was lovely too. Great location, all the amenities one needs and good space. My son and I delighted at watching the deer graze just outside our patio door. But the lodge was not clean...there were wrappers next to the bed from the previous occupants, crumbs on the floor and sofa, food under the table and the oven was so greasy that we had to dismantle the smoke detector in order to cook. That made me cross because we wanted to eat in as our son goes to bed early and we did not want to spend a fortune on over inflated outside meals. We were given a voucher for a meal and the lodge was re-cleaned but not to my standards or satisfaction...(the oven had a white residue from the cleaning products which was unappetising to say the least).
The pillows are like bricks too.
So mixed feelings......I would go again but I would ring in advance and ask that the oven be clean and the lodge too.
Advice: Visit Bath....it is lovely!

" We visited Center Parcs at longleat... "
Submitted By: Miss V BrittOn our first day we got there at approx 5pm, it tooks approx 5 minutes to check in (I had already filled in the registration form that was needed online) and we drove directly to our accomodation (1 bedroom executive) which was wonderful. The decor was a bit dated but it was very spacious. We also had internet access so we could book/cancel activities if needed allthough once we did try to book a couple of things on the day that we arrived there wasn't much available.
On our first night we decided that we were going to take it easy and get a takeaway from the Indian restaurant, which looked like green sludge and was horrendoulsy overpriced. My advice on this would be to stock up on essentials prior to your visit.
Since I'm not a very "sporty" person, I found the hills at longleat very challenging, going down was great fun, coming back up however was a different story especially as my partner had our daughter in a "child's trailer".
One thing that did rattle my cage was the maid service, they tell you no to leave your valuables on display yet when they came and supposingly "cleaned" our villa they left the curtains wide open with mine and my partner's laptop on show as well as his blackberry.
All in all it was a good holiday, the activities that we did book were brilliant and it did bring us closer together as a family. I probably would go again if the price was right.

Submitted By: Mr N HuntThe swimming pool is brilliant and we went twice a day some days, and caters for every person in our family young and old. We booked our eldest son into a few toddler groups, but wouldn't bother next time because they are basically over-priced and very short, better off trying to structure your day yourself and use the free adventure parks littered around the site, which were fantastic, well equiped and well maintained.
As a few people have mentioned the food is not the cheapest, but because we had the kitchen area we only went out once during our 5 days and the food was good, we went to the Tapas bar in the plaza, it ended up around £20 per head inc drinks. My advice would be to bring your food and spend your money on the things like Tree Trekking!

" Our holiday at Longleat was a... "
Submitted By: Mrs C BurgessThe chalet was clean and comfortable - we had booked a "Comfort" level chalet - I know there are some super ones that come with hot tubs and stuff but really it was fine for us.
We had signed up for Aqua Sana and my goodness was that worth the money - a whole day of bliss - if you're going to do Centerparcs it's definitely worth doing this. The first night we wandered up to the Village Square and ate at the Grand Cafe where the staff were exceptionally nice. It was very quiet - principally because other newbies hadn't found their way around yet. So worth remembering - wander out of Plaza for a quiet meal away from the crowds.
The food was exceptional, if a little over our normal expenditure. There is, of course, the option to self-cater and the Parcmarket caters for all sorts of tastes and quickness in meals, but we had chosen to eat out because of the savings we had made on our ticket prices in the first instance.
Lavender Relaxation saw 55 minutes of the ultimate in relaxation classes - at the Jardin De Sport (the only landtrain stop without a sign as it turns out). I have to say that although we left plenty of time to get there, the Jardin De Sport was probably the least easy to find part of Centerparcs - but that might have been cos we did it in the dark!
The swimming paradise was lovely - the only thing I think would make it better is the aquisition of some loungers around the pool - it can be a bit much to sit up in a chair all day but there were some loungers down in the relaxation bit (a much kept secret I must say but absolutely brilliant when I discovered it on the last day) Go as if you're going to the pool where the outdoor rapids come in (to the left of the lagoon bar) and hang a left. It's worth finding!
Anyway - all of Centerparcs was a great experience - so much so that we returned and booked again for the same week next year and already I can't wait!

" My experience of Centre Parcs has... "
Submitted By: alphabetcastleFrom the moment we arrived we found the staff to be lively, friendly, and helpful. There was not a single exception to this through the whole weekend. The villa was lovely and comfortable with all the facilities you could need. The only problem was the distance from the central activity areas, but this was solved by a regular land train service from early morning till midnight.
Of course the swimming pool there was second to none, with 4 water slides, outdoor rapids and a wave pool, but also there was a wide range of other activities indoors and out.
However, I would recommend advance booking for many things.
There are many restaurants to choose from within the complex. We only ate at one but it was delectable, and there was live music to entertain. The only minus point is that last orders at the bar were at 10.45 and my friend and I were politely asked to leave at 11.15 being the only ones left there!
As far as I know there is not much better in the immediate area.
I would recommend Centre Parcs to anyone, as long as they understand that late night life is limited. If cost is prohibitive, holidaying out of season can be ridiculously cheap. Particularly mid week.
Top Class.

" We spent a weekend in Longleat end of... "
Submitted By: Mrs E DaintyI must admit we didn't make use of most of their activities/facilities - weekend is just not long enough. Ended up spending all mornings in the Swimming Paradise, down the rapids! Afternoons mainly at playgrounds and riding around. The plan was to get our 3yo to their Time Out Club but never bothered - so can't comment on that.
The bikes were all fine, we even rented a bike trailer for our 6mth old. There's plenty of bike parking space around the place so when our older son got tired we'd park his bike and sit him in a trailer as well.
Food-wise would recommend Huckleberry’s - food is fine and a big bonus is a playground inside the restaurant where kids can let their steam off while waiting for the order. And the Pancake House is absolutely yummy!
We also tried Indian delivery. I’m not a big fun of Indian but my other half seemed to enjoy it and they delivered within 30 min.
If you arrive just before 3pm (their check-in time) be prepared to queue for a while. It took us about 45 min to get in.
Their villa maintenance is quite good - first time we went to Longleat was February and the boiler wasn't working in the villa. After a quick call an engineer arrived within an hour. Considering the size of the place and how busy they must be on a Friday just after arrival time I think it's a good response time.
A bit disappointed about the state of accommodation - torn sheets, the carpets not looking very clean etc. Though we liked the Jacuzzi and both bedrooms had en-suite bathroom with toilets (on the website they warn you there's no loo in the second en-suite). The kitchen is reasonable size. We didn't cook anything substantial but it survived a major fry up.
Another negative point is their prices. They are not a 5* or 4* and a weekend accommodation (3 nights worth) for £750 (half term) is a bit pricey in my opinion.
Having said that it's still the best weekend break for family with kids in this country - at least I haven’t come across anything better.

" We went as a family of 7 to Centre... "
Submitted By: ShortbreadThe whole Parc is absolutely brilliant and packed full of activities for all ages. We enjoyed horse riding, canoeing, fishing, tennis, trampolining, swimming and much much more. We took our bikes along as it such a huge parc and is not on a level land. There is a land train which can commute you to all areas of the parc so is suitable for those with walking difficulties.
The chalet was large as said previous but wasn't what I would call clean, so we got our scrubbing brushes out to give it a gleam.
I would definitely recommend a short break to centre Parcs, Longleat. The kids will love it.
You also need to take quite a bit of money as unfortunately you have to pay for almost everything you do and the restaurants don’t exactly come cheap...... but still worth a visit!

Submitted By: Mrs C PowellLots of activities, including large indoor and outdoor swimming pools with slides and jacuzzi. recommend the aqua sana Spa for couples, saunas, and steam rooms of varying temperatures and humidity’s in a very tranquil setting, lots of spa treatments available.
Dining there is a small supermarket on site, prices comparable with local Sainsbury, and plenty of restaurants with a superb choice of menus. Our favourites were the pancake house and La Sapiniere. The only disappointing meal we had was in the Indian restaurant, which was lacking in choice and flavour and expensive for what it was.
Tips: Take waterproof jackets and comfortable shoes as you go everywhere on foot.
plan your stay and book your activities before you go to save disappointment.
It's a family resort, if you want a quiet romantic meal (no screaming kids) eat after 8.30pm.

Submitted By: Mr MJ RileyWe did push the boat out where meals were concerned, 3 course meals plus drinks for all of the four nights we stayed there. So we can't complain about the cost even though some of the quality of food could have been better.
We enjoyed all of the activities we tried but we feel Centerparcs 'Big-up' some of the activities to make you think you are going to experience something out of this world.
The villas were great, very spacious and cosy. The only let-down was the maid service, and we did go for the VIP package and might as well have gone for VNP package (Very Naive Person) with the way we were treated.
Overall we would go again but would do things a little bit differently next time around.

" Well I'm amazed at some of these... "
Submitted By: Miss SmithIt's good for kids, and there are plenty of organised activities, a decent swimming pool that's got slides etc. and there's a very luxurious, if pricey, spa. It's set in a nice forest.
It's also very expensive, staff are a bit rude and offhand - as though they're used to dealing with tattooed chavs - and the accommodation is very basic and shabby.
Essentially I don't think this is somewhere you'd want to stay unless you had a reasonable number of children you want to kick out of the door in the morning and tell them to go entertain themselves while you go back to bed. It's very much like Butlins to be honest, except it's in a wood.

" Holiday generally fine however:
(1) Actvities were cancelled due to wet weather. We were told by the information desk 15 mins before the activity started that it was running but when we got there and got drenched in the process the activity organiser was not there to meet us. After 15 mins I rang Centre Parcs booking only to be told it was cancelled because the course was 1 metre under water. A WASTED AFTERNOON.
(2) Also beware if you use the outdoor pool and rapids. We were greeted by a snake swimming across the water. It slithered up the smooth edge of the pool and disappeared into the rocks at the side. The lifeguard's comment (to my young child) was OH F**K

The lifeguards also seem to ignore the rude guests who choose to push everyone else out of the way on the rapids, don't point out that there are signs everywhere advising feet first or manage the flow of people entering the rapids. Some people also chose to sit in the outdoor hot tub for very long periods making it very difficult for others to use it. We also disliked being asked everywhere what our villa number was - this is very obviously a cheap way for Center Parcs to gather marketing data. All in all not very impressive and the place is starting to look rather tired. We won't be back.
Advice: See the county but give this place a miss
Activities: None during this stay
