Center Parcs Longleat Forest Reviews
" We have just got back from Centre... "
Submitted By: Mrs S OrmesherIn our party were 6 adults and 1 toddler.
Our first impressions of the comfort plus villa were nice and comfortable. At closer inspection it is a bit grubby, the edges of the carpets were thick with dust, and the sofas were a bit grubby too. Some of the sheets had holes in.
The villa needs updating particularly the bathroom. All in all we were comfortable and that is the main thing and we had a dishwasher so that was a bonus we don’t even have one of them at home!
Longleat is very hilly, which isn’t made clear in the book. As you rely on cycling it can be a bit hard particularly for the children and the not so fit.
There is a land train that goes around every 20 minutes, we were lucky and got on it all the time, people who were a bit further on the route were sometimes left behind.
My parents went to get it one evening and it had been suspended, no reason why. Thankfully a transit van was going round picking some people up.
The food was good. We ate in Huckleburys, typical American food which was okay. We went to the Chinese banquet on the Thursday night, it was not worth £15.50, portions tiny and a pint of bear was £6! I wouldn’t recommend it.
We had Indian take away one evening, this was nice. They delivered it to the villa. Best to book when they open at 4 otherwise you might be limited or have no delivery slots.
Activities were all good; Tai chi breakfast was good breakfast was terrible - a muffin or a flap jack. I would go for the afternoon class and have something yourself for breakfast and a lie in!
Swimming pool area was good; some of the tiles on the floor had been broken so watch out under your feat. Clean and lots of staff. Wish we went there in the pool more than twice.
Pancake house ok, takes a while to get served, food wasn’t too bad.
Sports bar was a nice relaxing place in the night, compared to the louder plaza area.
One night they closed up just after ten not realising that it said on the board outside open till 1115.
All in all had a good time, and would go back. Might try Elveden next time, bit closer to home.

" We have been to Centre Parcs since... "
Submitted By: Mr RT TateWe have been to three of the villages in the UK. Elveden, Sherwood and Longleat.
Centre Parcs always has things to do for all ages and is very safe
The accommodation is excellent as usual with daily maid service.
Well what can I say about the pool, it is fantastic with waves, rapids, and many slides to keep you amused.
The wildlife and scenery is wonderful. be prepared to get a visit from ducks every morning at your villa and Sid the squirrel as my daughters always say.
Excellent place to go and relax (especially the spa!)
At Longleat village it is very hilly so it may be easier to use the land train to get around rather than bikes. Although there are some wonderful bike paths through the lovely scenery.
Recommend to all ages. Centre Parcs is very friendly.

" First time visitor to Center Parcs.... "
Submitted By: Ms S EI expected the villas to be a bit like Butlins chalets but was very pleasantly surprised. Stayed comfort plus.
Very clean and full of all the equipment you would ever need for a few days away. Very practical and safe for young children.
Plenty of restaurants and eateries around the parc, staff very helpful and polite, high chairs and children catered for everywhere. Average restaurant prices which represents good value and the Indian is a must.
Sports facilities good and the pool area fab for young and older children. Toddlers indoor and outdoor play areas are fab.
No cars, safe for children to run around, ducks, rabbits and birds to amuse the toddler for hours, plenty of fresh air and lots of walking.
Our children are one and two and a half and were made welcome everywhere.
Can't praise it enough, in fact we have booked again for next winter.

Submitted By: Mrs C JonesAround the pool areas and changing areas were play pens which is a great idea. In the pool changing rooms there was a dryer which up to 4 people could stand in which is definitely worth the £1.00 to use, it didn't dry us completely but really helped the towels not get so wet and made you feel warmer.
My 5 year old loved the wave pool and the children’s slide and sand area. We went in the outside pool and the water was so warm, it was lovely, we weren't brave enough to try the cold plunge pool though! The hot whirlpool was great!
I pre-booked the mini soccer school for my little one and he thoroughly enjoyed it, it was for an hour each day in the morning and would definitely book that next time we go.
We ate at Huckleberry's twice and the food and the service was superb. They had a really good play area for the children which keep them occupied while waiting for food etc.
We booked the comfort accommodation and it was fine and would definitely book the same again, it was clean and tidy and well equipped.
My children loved watching the birds, squirrels and ducks come onto the patio area. We hired the bikes and a trailer there for our 1 year old, even though you don't have to hire them its just as easier to get around on foot but it was fun cycling - even though I haven't been on a bike since I was about 12!!
There was free transport to get you around the park but we didn't use it. When we booked we paid about 30.00 extra to be in accommodation close to the main amenities which I would definitely do again as we were only a few minutes walk away.
There was a nice atmosphere in the sports bar, both my boys enjoyed the play areas and there were 2 in there for different age children, there was colouring/crayons in there to keep them occupied and a bookworm corner with plenty of books for them too, while you can relax and enjoy the delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows and really thick cream and a flake - it is so yummy!
We all had such a good time, we can't wait to go back again soon, my son didn't want to leave and keeps asking when we are going back and we've only been home a day!
Totally recommended.

Submitted By: GazmatazThe villa itself was lovely all the things you need were there including a bottle opener which is of the up most importance. We did find the beds very comfortable and the villa was very clean.
We had pre booked all of our activities to make sure the kids had things to do, which isn’t that difficult at such a child friendly place. Over all we loved it and cant wait to go back.

Submitted By: Mrs JC EdwardsStandard of cleaning of villas going down the tubes as well-found knickers in bathroom from previous tenant. Most of the waiters are now Polish and their command of English is not good enough. Pool grouting is well worn now.
But the children do love it and that of course is the secret of their success

" We had a three bedroom apartment,... "
Submitted By: Miss V S HandWe had chosen where to stay and would highly recommend this as some of the apartments are very far away from the main complexes, and the train shuttle service only runs from the complexes, it does not go all around the apartment blocks, which is a shame. The swimming pools are amazing, especially the rapids. The Indian restaurant is one of the best I have tasted in England (and I’ve been to India to compare).
Only negative, Center Parcs state they cater for coeliacs, but sadly, they don't, and made it awkward when eating out. We did receive a refund for one night they had ruined, but it put a damper on an otherwise great weekend.

" This is the 4th time we had holidayed... "
Submitted By: Mr A HWe had a very enjoyable mid week break staying in a 2 bed executive villa. The villa was a little tired could have done with a good spring clean as the roof lights etc had some cobwebs. But the villa was really the same format as we have stayed in at the other parks.
The park is on a hill but easy to get around. The restaurants are the same as all the other parks, but some are in the dome area and actually under cover which is different to the other parks.
The pool area is very good and on par with Elvdon with the exception the children’s area which is not quite as good. The rapids are probably the best out of any of the UK parks. It lacks a tube ride like the Sherwood site.
We have two daughters one is 3 years old and the other 7 months. My oldest daughter really enjoys the beach area and the outdoor play areas which there are plenty of within the park. She also enjoys thee soft play at the sports bar and the play area at Huckleberry’s. Always plenty of kids seats when you go out to eat. And my wife really likes the quality of baby change and feeding areas. Very Kid friendly which we like.
Another good thing about Longleat Center Parcs is that it’s just down the road from Longleat Safari Park which we visited on the Wednesday and there is plenty to do there to fill more than a day. We managed to get round most things but could have done with another half a day there.
I have noticed that some people have commented on the car crime and break ins that occurs round there. We had no problems and did not witness anything but the local radio station did comment on the problem that is currently happening round that area especially Longleat Safari Park.
Would happily go back again for another holiday.

Sure the foods a bit expensive, but what can you expect. There are plenty of tennis and badminton courts, there are also pool and snooker tables. In the pool there are plenty of slides including the white water rapids which aren’t white...

Submitted By: Mrs A AllenThe three bed roomed villa was spacious for the six of us and clean and well equipped. We were situated near the lake which was fabulous for spotting wildlife including land and water birds, squirrels, deer and rabbits. The super market was well stocked and the leisure facilities fantastic.
Beware of the hidden extra cost as the sports and activities worked out expensive but there's plenty to do that doesn't cost extra.

Submitted By: Ms K WooAll activities were extra, we paid for our children to attend the football training which they enjoyed very much. We also played table tennis, ten pin bowling and also went on a paddle boat in the lake. Swimming in the indoor complex is included in the price, we found the various water slides a little bit too scary for our young children. Be aware some popular activities have to be booked in advance.
The supermarket on site was well stocked and very reasonably priced, but we ate out every night trying all the different restaurants. The Italian restaurant was newly renovated and served good food, the children ate for £1. The American restaurant was also excellent with a great children adventure play area. The pancake house was awful, service was non-existent. We had a lovely brunch at the Sports cafe.
The accommodation was clean and very nicely decorated, the executive villas have the benefit of a daily maid service. There was a sauna and a BBQ in the patio area but we didn’t have time to test it out. All the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and towels were provided.
It was a lovely long weekend in the tranquil environment. <br>

" I went to Center Parcs at Longleat... "
Submitted By: Mrs C BrownWe arrived at Longleat at 12pm and were able to use the facilities prior to the 3pm check-in. We booked an afternoon session in the spa, where we could have saunas and go in steam rooms etc…. It was a lovely start to the weekend.
When we got our keys we cycled to our 4 bedroom standard villa, which was about 30 minute walk from the main square. The villa was spotless and comfortable, and was just what we expected.
We booked a few activities, that included a Horse Riding afternoon and also a Saturday Night Party. I couldn’t fault any part of the weekend. Although it was chilly and a little wet, it was great to be out in the fresh air. We all hired bikes and nearly killed ourselves by cycling up and down the massive board walk!
The food was nice – selection wasn’t too bad. The Aqua Dome was fantastic. I could have spent all weekend going up and down the rapids and slides!!
Most of my friends had been to a Center Parcs before, and those who hadn’t thought it was a great weekend. I will definitely go back.

The kid’s schools (football, kids clubs, etc.) are excellently run and enjoyable for the kids and my son had a fantastic time with the other children. It also enabled us to do the adult activities when he was looked after, like archery and horse riding.
There were 11 of us, including 1 child and 2 infants, with pushchair, and entailed a lot of walking. Thank god for the mini train that takes you around the park.
Bike hire is a must, as this is prob the easiest and quickest way to get around.
There are so many activities to choose from, something for everyone, 4 days just wasn’t long enough, even though we planned what we were doing before we went.
The staff there are friendly and efficient, and the villas spacious and clean.
The only negative is the cost of the food in some places, so it’s best to take your own food, or buy from the reasonably prices shop on site. (This closes at 7pm, so make sure you have everything).
