We stayed for 1 week at Center Parcs Oasis Whinfell in July 2005. A lot of the enjoyment of the holiday may have been due to the excellent weather.
Pros:
- The lodge was stunning. We stayed in the 4 bedroom Forest lodge and it was set in a cul-de-sac.
- Sub tropical paradise, or swimming area is exemplary. Clean, open all day until 9:00pm (unlike Haven!).
Cons:
Additional activities very expensive. Disappointingly they don't publicise the costs on their website - they only let you know 2 weeks before. (Example £4.25 for 1/2 hour parachute play for your child!). £10 per person for the evening show. £12 to get kids into kids club for 1 session.
All in all, a great holiday, but couldn't afford too much other activities.

This place is excellent! I really enjoyed my time at Centre Parcs for two main reasons. Firstly, it is lovely and peaceful. You can go for long walks around the park and look at the wonderful plants and animals. Secondly, you can have an adventurous time due to the wide variety of activities which you can do! I found the Archery very exciting and the bowling is great too! The restaurants there are also great and the food is very tasty.
At Centre Parcs you can find something to suit every type of person because there are so many different things you could do. You can come back every year and still find something fun to do!

We stayed at Oasis Windfall for a long weekend. On arrival we found the accommodation to be okay but in need of refurbishment but we had kind of guessed this as we had only booked a standard villa. We headed straight to the pool on the Friday night a very good time to go nice and quiet .The next day after to waking up to rabbits and pheasants just outside your patio window we went for a really long walk just the way to de-stress. Later to the pool but very busy . Really good fireworks display that evening as it was bonfire weekend.
Next day more walking as we had booked our daughter a pony trek which she really enjoyed later pool meal out. I recommended taking all your own food as the restaurants are poor very expensive. plus if you have older children a credit card as you could spend a small fortune on activities. Would we go again? Yes for the walking and relaxing no for the slight Butlins type feel and over priced everything.

Fantastic break overall, very relaxing and serene. The room was fantastic
However I do have a few small complaints:-
The "double" bed was actually 2 lumpy single beds, which resulted in myself and my boyfriend waking up in rather a bad mood!! The gap in the middle was also not conducive to "snuggling" as we call it!!!
The "welcome BBQ" did not come at a "welcome" price, I found myself in a state of dismay when the bar tender announced the cost of this and my boyfriend had to be picked up off the floor! The selection available was not comprehensive and for £15 a head I was certainly not "welcomed"!!! I would not recommend that anyone attends this event.
As I had "overdone it" in the day drinking the overpriced lager watching England unconvincingly beat Wales 1 to zero, by a deflected shot from Joe Cole. we decided to purchase a take away Pizza from the great "lucianos". I myself was laid up in the luxury apartment needing some sustenance to soak up the overpriced lager so I sent my fella out to gather food!
he was gone some time and I was beginning to think he had come to a terrible fate. 2 alka seltzers later and he walks in carrying a rather small and lets face it cold "pizza" .He informed me that the "staff" had not signalled to him when the pizza was completed and therefore he had sat there like a lemon for nearly 1 whole hour while our evening meal was releasing its heat to the surrounding area.
Finally my biggest gripe is "rock Legends"! Boo Hiss!!!!!
Prior to attending this establishment I had quite fancied eating there whilst the unenthusiastic waitresses danced to the YMCA however the reality was very different ...
After being seated for nearly 15 minutes I was gasping for a glass of Vino! we had started to wonder if the place was indeed self service ( I now wish it was!!)
When finally presented with a member of the waiting staff I was shocked to discover he did not in fact speak a scrap of her majesty’s English!! I myself have a rather particular pallet and wished to explain that I merely wanted chicken breast and fries. He looked at me in a rather vacant way and then decided I was having a chicken burger whether I liked it or not!!!! I then asked for a glass of medium white wine to which the fool responded by saying that they only did small or large glassed of wine! I mean what on earth??!
My "chargrilled" chicken was frankly anaemic and seemed more sun dried than char grilled! in fact I’m sure that bird had not been anywhere near a grill!!!!
The highlight of my holiday was the "hits from the flicks"
This show was fantastic and I loved singing along to all the old classics!! it was great!!!!!!!
Finally I would like to say that they should provide more toilet paper in the lodges, it was nearly a disaster on the last day if you get me!!!
I hope you enjoyed my review
Kind regards
Regina Felangie.

Very poor experience. The lodge was very dirty as were most of the public cafe and bar areas.
The lodge had a number of defects but maintenance managed to sort out most within 1 hour. The lodge was however in need of a major refurb. Not what you’d expect at the price.
Our children only managed to go on half of the activities they wanted to because of over booking. Demonstrates poor planning and organisation on the part of the management . Only eat out once and was very disappointed with quality and price.
Overall low quality and high prices. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

We had a great time! Our little one was only just a year old but she had a fantastic time, she especially enjoyed the Burley rides. As for the place its self.. the apartment was lovely and big and better equipped than i had expected. We found that there was so much to do as a family. Also the spa visit was amazing.
The only thing I have to moan about was the last night we thought we would treat ourselves to a takeaway. We ordered a Chinese that was not cheap... when it got to us it was cold and there was stuff missing, when I rang and complained they said the refund would be waiting at the main desk the following day.. needless to say it wasn’t and I have still not received it.
But all in all it was a great holiday.

Very good holiday and good value for money. Relaxing and energising at the same time. No cars so therefore it involves walking or cycling (hire available). Accommodation is spacious, warm with relaxing touches e.g. open fire for which you can purchase special logs.
Supermarket not really well enough stocked to ensure good family meals for duration of holiday - but some supermarkets nearby in Penrith.
Two keycards per apartment, which is not really adequate for a 6 person chalet.
