Center Parcs Sherwood Forest
Life at Sherwood revolves around the continental Village Square with its whitewashed walls, pantiled roofs and leafy terraces. There’s an inviting cluster of eating places here, including our lovely contemporary Indian restaurant, Rajinda Pradesh. The village square is also home to the magical Leisure Bowl, with ten-pin bowling. The Sub-tropical swimming paradise is here and has now been extended to include a new scuba diving and lane swimming pool.

Well its the best holiday experience ever!!!! Loved it!! Used to go when i was a kid an loved it then went back this year an its still as gud now as it was then infact better!!!! The staff r friendly you feel really welcomed from the minute u arrive at the arrival lodge. The views u get everywhere you go are amazing and im not really what you'd call at one with nature but i couldn't get enough of it. If you get on the old internet and have a look for offers and deals a family of six can go away Monday to Monday for around the £500 mark and trust me its worth every penny. Activities are booked at extra cost which in some peoples minds are expensive but they're well worth it an if you dont want to spend alot on your holiday thats no problem just go to the massive swimming pool that you could easily spend the entire week in with its water slides an jucuzzi's and not forgetting the amazing outdoor rapids an its all FREE just a pound 4 your locker which you get back! Got back three days ago and we've already booked for next year when i have my 1st niece can't bloody wait. You don't have to be worried about wanting a quite or energetic holiday because you can do both here.
If your looking for an amazing holiday experience especially with children try here its really good!!!

Booked for Sherwood forest, been there whn I was 12, kids are now that age and wondered if it would live up to the great time I had had when I was younger, well it did got there around dinner and just drove through check in and got keys, cant go into room till 3 so parked up and had a wander, went to villa, we had a four bedroom, that slept 8 for £270 we were really impressed. We did plenty of activities while there the kids loved the tree treking and we all loved the laser combat and fencing, there is so much to do and the swimming pool is still really good, lost count of the number of times we went down the rapids, if you do some activities and love trying new things and the outdoor life you will love it

My family and I have been using Center Parcs for years and we always have a great time. We book for centre parcs as we like an active holiday and there's lots to do in the area.
I was disapointed this year to see how much the prices had increased for the activities. Also my husband always takes the boys to play paintball every year but they no longer use the same site they now have a small arena in the Center Parcs.
Thankfully we meet a few other people on the first day who told us we could book direct with Adrenalin Jungle who used to supply the paintball .
We booked for the paintball for the Saturday we could have also booked quads, archery and 4 x 4 off road with them but they were fully booked. We will book in advance next time.
We will continue to go to Center Parcs as we love the area and the pool is great when it rains but i will not be booking the activities with them again.

We have just got back from a mid week break and we had a wonderful time, the accomodation was fab (we where in an exec villa). The first day we just unpacked, collected bikes then went to huckleberrys the food was yummy and plenty of it and didnt cost us any more than we would have paid at any other restaurant. The kids booked into the time out club for one session on tuesday and thurs and both had a really good time doing activities and having there face painted and £15 per child for 3 hrs is not a bad price!!
The swimming pool was really good and we spent several hours there everyday.
We went to the robin hood banquet on the thurs night and it was entertaining for the adults and childreen and the food was good although they dont give you much time to eat!!
All in all we throughly enjoyed i would definatly go again

We have just returned from our third Center Parcs visit and we were VERY disappointed. The lodge was absolutely disgusting, it smelt awful in the lounge and one bedroom had mould growing up the walls. There were cobwebs in all the skylights, on the kitchen tiles and an ant infestation in the bathroom. My boys bunk room was full of spiders and dust and we took over an hour to clean it including removing mouldy biscuits from the radiator and dirty socks from underneath the bunks. The windows inside and out were filthy. It was obvious the unit had not been cleaned properly in a long time. Housekeeping did come out and steam clean the carpet but the smell was back the next day. The Parc really need to get housekeeping sorted as we were not alone in complaining. You pay all that money and are then expected to strip your own beds etc. Not on. A weeks Five star time share in Tenerife with maid service only costs a bit more. Come on Center Parcs get some decent cleaners in.

I've been going to Centerparcs for years now and have tried all of the sites several times but having returned for the second time to Sherwood recently I have to say I was very disappointed. Yes it is expensive but as the gentleman commented earlier you used to get what you paid for and I like to have a smart villa with as many extras as they can cram in. I'm prepared to pay for this and so I thought I would book one of the new 1 bedroom exec Woodland lodges. Considering this lodge was more expensive than an exec villa at Longleat (which are beautiful, spacious and with a corner bath) I couldn't believe firstly how tiny it was, little more than a studio with no door from lounge to bedroom despite the fact that the bedroom had its own TV about a metre from the lounge TV. The bathroom was so small the cabinet overhung the bath and there was no shelf to put toiletries. Whilst nicely decorated you could tell it had been done in a hurry. The front door had dropped and so wouldn't lock propery and had to be fixed. The patio door required a great feat of strength to open and when I complained a note was left in the villa to say no fault found with it!!! As soon as we walked in the lodge we could tell that it was originally part of a 4 bedroom/3bedroom villa with the end cordoned off and converted. I'm prepared to pay for some degree of comfort but I definately would not book this type of lodge again. The final straw was when we were seated in almost empty Hucks and nobody came to take our order. 15 minutes later we walked out. I'm going again next month but to Elvedon which is our favourite and I can guarantee I will never return to Sherwood again.

Great resort. Been twice now. Few problems though. Cleanliness of villa was really below a good standard on both occasions. The food in the fast food cafes was horrible and greasy and expensive and the manager was rude beyond belief.
In addition, Center Parks are not very aware of disability access and the booking process to allow our child full access to the activities was long and drawn out. For a large company, they need awareness training.
Despite this, would go again as great family environment.

I was taken to Sherwood Forest Centre Parcs for my birthday and all I can say is amazing amazing amazing!
It was my first visit to a Centre Parcs and it exceeded my expectations tenfold! We stayed in a one bed comfort villa for a mid week break, and although it was basic that’s all we wanted, it was clean, warm and welcoming when we arrived.
Food was fantastic if not a tad pricey, but then who goes away for a short break and doesn’t spend loads of money, besides aren't all British restaurants expensive now?! I think people need to stop picking hairs and realise how wonderful and beautiful these places are, sure beats a weekend in a smelly city!
The swimming pool was amazing and the hot tubs even nicer.
One thing you can say about Centre Parcs is that it is friendly, no-one bats an eyelid if your fat thin black white or pink, everyone is to pre occupied in relaxing and seeing how many more times they can get away with going down the flumes in as little time as possible!
People who make complaints about Centre Parcs need a reality check; the more people go, the more money they raise to conserve the wildlife that is there, so why quibble over a slightly more expensive steak!!
Wonderful wonderful wonderful, and if any of the staff are reading this can’t wait to see you in Feb. 2008!

A wonderful family short break but you could spend a lot!
Accommodation was superb - we stayed in a 2-bed, 2-bath executive lodge. The kitchen facilities were fabulous and we cooked all our evening meals. We commented on the card left in the accommodation about a blunt knife and peeler. These were replaced the very next morning. Very impressed.
We didn't eat at any of the places on site, as they seemed expensive and 'chainy'. Instead we walked to the pub just at the edge of the site (not Centre Parcs controlled) the Rose Cottage. The food and beer were fabulous (hubby is a real ale fan - the only hand-pulled beer on site is at the country club and is only average & pretty expensive). The welcome was warm and they did everything possible to accommodate our 1-year old. Thoroughly recommended.
We also bought some lunch items from the on-site supermarket, which isn't as expensive as we anticipated.
The swimming centre on site is amazing with incredibly well-thought out changing. This is mainly unisex with lots of cubicles of varying sizes for families. All cubicles are illustrated by a sign on the door (2 parents & baby, family of 4 etc) and all had appropriate changing benches, baby changing etc. A hook or small stool for a changing bag near the baby changing would be useful, but this wasn't a major problem. The large pool is a little chilly for small babies but there is also a series of baby & child pools which they can use.
You could spend a lot of money on activities (only swimming is free) but if you can take your own bikes or are happy walking, exploring, and looking at the huge amounts of wildlife then I'd recommend you book now.
All in all a very pleasant 5 days at the end of November. Pretty good discounts seem to be available if you book a last-minute break within about 6-8 weeks so keep an eye on their internet site. We'll be doing this next time.

We have just arrived back from Center Parcs today and it was fantastic.
I have been going to Center Parcs since I was 11 weeks old and I am now 13 and we go about 2-3 times each year.
There are great activities for people who like to have a go at things, also there’s the subtropical swimming paradise which is where we spend most of our time because it’s such a fun place to be. There are plenty of slides in the pool for all ages, if you don’t feel like that, why not go to the spa and relax.
Our villa was great, we were in a 3 bedroom executive which was great but our only problem was we were near to where they were building new villas and refurbishing them. We did go to the information centre about it and they offered us a new one but only comfort, luckily the work should be over soon but we are writing a letter to the head office.
That won’t stop us from going though... we will be booking a date for next year soon.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

As frequent Centre Parcs visitors (been to them all in UK) and booking our week's summer holidays we elected to go for the new upgraded 'Woodland Lodge' accommodation.
Worth the wee bit extra we thought as we could certainly concur that the accommodation had been getting a bit tired as mentioned by other reviewers.
Accommodation was disappointing to say the least - dirty, bad finishes to much of the work, remote controls missing, lovely substantial roller blind cords for our 21 month year old son to potentially hang himself with etc, etc.
Been told when booking there would be Wi-Fi in the villa which there wasn't...
Re the Village itself:
2 of the restaurants were closed for works which we only found out once we had booked.
We have been to CP as both a couple (pre-children), as part of a large group and now as a family and they certainly have something to offer everyone. We will go back despite this experience.
We have sent a letter of complaint via recorded delivery so we shall await the outcome.
We did note with interest the completion of some new villas while we were there which were being worked on up until 1440 ON THE DAY THEY WERE LET...

Very enjoyable Fitness Motivation weekend at Sherwood Forest Centre Parcs.
Excellent guest instructors, we had aerobics with Kevin Adams and a talk on make-up by Armand Beasley.
The rest of the facilities were very good too, the aqua dome with the shoots, and wave machine were wonderful, even for a grandmother like me! The spa was so relaxing, with everything you need to pamper, including robes and soft towels.
The site was well organised and clean. The only issue we had was the price of food and drink purchased at the resort.

I have been going to Centre Parcs once or twice a year since Sherwood Forest opened, and I am never disappointed, I have been as a kid and as a parent and it is great!
Generally we have gone in the winter, as it is cheaper and there is loads to do inside, both kids and parents occupied.
I have just returned from a midweek break in Sherwood Forest and it is the first time we have gone in the summer and it cost us about 3 times as much as normal!
But as usual it was a great holiday but an expensive one. Centre Parc is not weather dependant unless you like watersports, so we will be sticking to low and mid season next time.
The sports facilities were great, if only my local sport centre was this good! Everything was clean, we had no problems getting activities booked, Spa was out of this world!!
The only thing I would quibble about is the villas, we had a basic comfort villa and it was showing its age, I would definitely next time be upgrading to the new woodland lodges which look fantastic.
All complaints were sorted quickly with no problems.
Drinks and food are pricey but you have everything you need to self cater, so stock up before you go.
If you can take your own bikes, save on the hire charges.
The best time for us to go in the pool was 5pm when all the little ones were out to have their tea and it was a little quieter.
If you can do this holiday in a large group, as then there is always someone around to play tennis with or take the kids down "Jungle River.”
In all it is a very safe holiday for the kids, I was happy to let my 6yr old have a little independence while promoting an active lifestyle and for us adults to have a holiday as well without being a slave to the kids.
My daughter described this holiday as "WICKED" and I have to agree, as we have already booked for next year!

Having been to Centre Parcs Longleat we already had high hopes for our holiday, however with two small children under 2years, our eldest cannot walk far, and the other is in a pushchair.
At Sherwood Forest everything is close by there is not far to go to any of the facilities and all are of an amazing quality. The swimming complex was amazingly clean even when it was extremely busy and everything was in good working order we never saw a broken anything.
The play parks are safe and children are very well catered for parks suitable for all ages.
There is a beach on site and it is amazing safe clean no nasty rubbish or obstacles that were any cause for concern. The food is not too expensive and the quality of the food was outstanding.
The only negative thing to say was that the decor of our standard villa was a little dated but as there was so much to do this was not too much of an issue.
In all we had an amazing time in an amazing environment. Can’t wait to go back in October!

Ok things are expensive. That's the first thing to know. More or less whatever you want to do you'll be paying a high price. A coke and a beer cost £5 something, cocktails £5 and the activities isn’t cheap.
Sure the accommodation isn't going to win any prizes for interior design, but why does that matter? I didn't go away to marvel at interior design. The villa wasn't pristine but it wasn't dirty by any means.
You can't get your room till 3 which it says in the info, but you can go earlier, park up in the car park then go and do your own thing.
The swimming place is awesome, hot whirlpools, wave machines slides, and stuff. The raft ride can be a long queue, I did it once and it was good, you really do need to hold on, but after that once I didn't queue again. The lazy river/rapids thing is awesome and you don't have to queue.
When the wave machine comes on get to the deep end in the left hand corner that's where the waves get highest. The cold plunge pool will look rough, and it is. But it's worth jumping into the cold water, because when you get out and get back into the warm water it feels awesome.
ALSO if it's raining or cold go to the outside bit cos all steam comes off the water and it looks great.
When doing your activities be careful that you dress right, I went fencing and had to go back and get trousers, even though I couldn't remember reading anything that said I needed trousers. The fencing is really good fun, although you get hot doing it. We also did badminton which was only £7 for a hour I thing which isn't that bad and it was good fun.
The nature walk sucked because the person who ran it didn't know squat about nature, the high ropes thing is not for the feint hearted. If you like a bit of adrenalin then go for it.
There were kids on it who were either really brave or really stupid, but I ended 30 foot in the air on a 2 foot by 2 foot board that shook with 2 kids grabbing onto me (stupidity and bravery all spent) when you come off of it you do have a bit of an adrenalin high but good fun.
The quad biking was good fun, yes it's expensive but I’ve never done it before, and it's nice and safe and was good fun. The dancing was good, I didn't do it but someone in my group did and she enjoyed it.
If you have bikes take them, because it has a big cycle culture which is fun, it isn’t too hilly, and it isn’t hard to cycle.
