" just got back from le tivoli.
ok hotel, definately 3 stars! waiters rude and unhelpful.
beautiful country but full of CON men! all they want is your money. Taxi drivers on the whole ok to start off with, then they start haggling with the fare, despite agreeing on a price before getting in! they refuse to put the meter on - usually costs a few dirhams to go anywhere, but they charge you sky high prices. they will end up taking you where they want to go - ofcourse they get a commission from the places they take you to i.e shop/camel ride etc. we used 3 taxis asking them to take us to the Souk - they told us its not nice but you can go to this shop instead!
souk's ok, but more pricey than in marrakech. marrakech is wonderful but hot hot - 45degrees when we were there! good bargains, if you can haggle in the souk.
snake charmers etc will charge you money if you take a picture - usually 20-30 dirhams (2-3 punds) if you dont pay they become aggressive as we learned from another couple! so yes, take pics but make sure you pay. although its not written anywhere how much!
went to marrakech for an over night excursion. the hotel charges you £100 per person and local guides approx £40. we went for the cheaper option and regret it very much. they put us in a 2 star hotel with NO A/C and a ford transit van! our driver was great fun though!
overall, really nice place agadir, wonderful beach and food. pricey. locals will con you so take plenty of money. try the camel ride (again haggle and haggle more)
we will not be going back, as the people make it unworthy. country and culture really amazing.

Submitted By: Miss L WilcoxThe hotel had little form of entertainment, and the hotel had a very strict policy of not bringing any drinks or food into the hotel that wasn't bought outside. The water in the hotel was extremely expensive, I would advise people to pop across to the supermarket and buy your bottles of water there, as you get a 2 litre bottle for 1/3rd of the price of a 500ml bottle from the hotel.
Agdair, was not great, for a young couple there was not much too do, haggle everything, and be very aware in the Souks of people around you.
Overall it was fun, but we definitely would not go back to Agdair and not to this hotel........theres a lovely hotel in Agdair called the Sofitel though- We spent most of your time there!

Submitted By: Mr P ThompsonWe enjoyed staying in this hotel . The food was varied and although not always piping hot (they do have a microwave for clients use) it was varied enough for us to find something that we fancied .
The pool area is pleasant and the pool heated !
The staff were friendly and usually accomodated your requests , including moving to a room with a view of the Kasbar .
If you like beaches however forget Agadir for the moment as in January 2006 they started digging up the beach to build a new promenade.
This has and still does mean piles of sand, concrete sea walls and part finished hardcore paths.
The instigators of this construction have given little or no thought to the people like us who have been going to Agadir partly because of the very extensive and unspoilt beach.

Submitted By: Mr AK TearThe staff were polite and numerous. They were helpful and responsive and appreciated my attempts at Arabic. The staff made a fuss of the children which was nice.
The Moroccans are very friendly people as a whole.
The accommodation was clean, worn in some areas but not in any way that detracted from the overall 4 star impressions.
The room, a family room was enormous with fridge and TV, it was clean and comfortable.
We don't bother with tour reps generally so the lack of input didn't detract from the holiday.
A nativity was organised for Christmas day which involved live animals and live Mary and Joseph.
Christmas Dinner which was at no extra charge was lovely.
The entertainment was stunning.
Being a bit lazy we rarely managed to be up in time for breakfast, which was ok if a bit limited.
The hotel is surrounded by a wide selection of restaurants and shops. It is within walking distance from the beach.
I came across this web site whilst looking to re-book at Le Tivoli so yes I would stay there again.

Submitted By: yoohooThe hotel was nice enough, the bedroom was clean, but the bathroom was a little unpleasant with rusty marks around the taps in the bath and a lack of toilet roll.
Breakfast and dinner were buffet style, breakfast being lovely but dinner slightly bland and repetitive. This wasn't a problem though as there are many very cheap and delicious places to eat nearby.
Staff were extremely helpful and plenty of them about. Although this hotel was not as good a standard as I had expected it was still one of the best holidays I have ever had.
The surrounding area was brilliant and the trips that we went on were amazing.
Room was suitable enough for simply sleeping in which is all we really needed it for.

Submitted By: Miss Ej VestAgadir itself is not traditionally Moroccan and is set up as a tourist resort (which after going to Marrakech can be a welcome break).
Hotel was nice and very clean.
There was a problem with the pool whilst we were there, and they had to drain it out, but pool is large enough and there are enough sun beds.
The entertainment is fairly basic, but done with good humour.
The gym left a little to be desired, as none of the equipment really worked but liked the fact that there were tennis courts.
The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the beach, and there are a few shops and local restaurants nearby.
Breakfast were the usual buffet style - quite a lot of choice.
Rooms were very large and spacious - starting to show their age a little, but again very clean, and serviceable.

Submitted By: Miss C WyattWe have read other reviews and have to agree with some that this is a 3 star hotel rather than a 4 star, having said that it is a very good hotel.
The rooms are very spacious and have a balcony, all have quite nice views. We stayed in block 4 which is a little tired now but we understand other blocks have been updated.
There was nothing terribly wrong with the room we had at all, it was very clean and well set out, and it just needed a little TLC.
The room was comfortable and had a TV, with only 3 British channels all news channels. A safe is included which you have to pay for to use. There is no fridge, you can ask for one but there are only 8 in the whole hotel so you may not be lucky.
The food was excellent, it was well displayed and a lot of time had been taken over the presentation. There was a wide choice and even vegetarians would not go hungry. There was soup and then main courses and sweets. Drinks have to be paid for at lunch and dinner. If anything runs out it is replaced very quickly. We were impressed.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I have read about the hotel being geared toward the French, well it is a French speaking country so that would obviously be the case, but most people spoke English and we did not have any problems wherever we went.
You can always change money up easily in the hotel. You get 16 dirham to the pound wherever you go that is the set exchange rate by the government. You need to get rid of most of your money before returning home as you can not even use in the airport shops, you can use in the toilets if need to tip though!
The pool area is very nice with plenty of sun beds. The pool itself is lovely not freezing at all. There is a food and drink place by the pool. It was lovely to swim in. There is also a small child’s pool.
The beach is relatively close by it is glorious goes on for miles and is a very wide beach. The sand is soft and clean. They a building more of the promenade but it really does not effect the enjoyment of the beach area. Lots of nice restaurants all along the front. All very reasonably priced.
Also lots of shops about, all more or less sell the same things but prices vary and you can barter. The Souk (market) is well worth a visit; it is huge and has many many stalls to look at.
There is a small animal park which is quite pleasant to visit. If they tell you they do not close the gates between 1230-1430 be careful as you can get locked in as they do in fact close the gates!!
The port is about 20 mins away and has a fish market and is a very interesting place to visit if you like to see things of that nature. If you don't want to walk the little red taxis are cheap. They only stay in Agadir. If you use after 8pm make sure they put the meter on as they charge time and a half after that time.
If you need to go outside Agadir in a taxis use the white Mercedes. 30 dirham minimum.
The hotel is in a very good spot to get around. We had a really good week there. The people of morocco are very friendly people, but be aware that when someone appears to be helpful and show you the way or take you somewhere, they do expect a tip, even if they say they don't want any money.
Tipping is very much a way of life out there as they earn very little.
We would recommend the hotel Le Tivoli and Morocco in general.

Submitted By: JRamsdenThe person who I spoke with from Bookable holidays suggested Agadir, and after a quick look on the net to see what it was like (plus the fact that we were slightly worried about not getting anything!) we booked into the Le Tivoli in Agadir for a week.
Not knowing anything about the hotel or the resort, we embarked on our journey with a mixture of excitement and in trepidation.
The hotel was perfect for what we wanted - it had a nice uncrowded pool area, the rooms were clean and a good size and hotels location was ideal for exploring Agadir.
The food, as is often the case in hotels, was a bit hit and miss. A safe breakfast consisted of pastries and coffee. We did have an evening meal in the hotel, which we found tasty but overpriced.
Overpriced is the key word for most of the amenities located near the hotel which cater for tourists in this prominent hotel area. We preferred to walk to the 'rue Du president Kennedy' district where you don't see any tourists and pay 15d compared to 70d for a great tasting tagine.
Its perfectly safe, but watch out for the beggars if you dine outside - they will have everything off your plate that you have left...before you have even left the table!
Agadir itself was interesting, with trips to the souk and the kasbah worthwhile. Again, watch out for people who appear to be doing you a favour and then asking for money afterwards.
Great beach, good bargains to be haggled for, and some good local dining experiences (no bad stomach aftereffects for either of at all).
On the whole it was a nice holiday, and I don't have any complaints about the hotel. I wouldn't recommend it to people who get easily annoyed by locals insisting you look in their shops, restaurants or excursion offices.
However, if you are like us and just have a laugh with them and say no (or speak in Estonian which really confuses them!) then you'll have a good time.
Not sure we'd go back to Agadir, but would consider having a three day break in Marrakesh.

Submitted By: Miss F IqbalThe hotel is pretty but very dated and definitely not a 4*. More like 3*. Our bags were taken to our room for us and staff don’t expect tips. Rooms are clean but not fully equipped, however the sea view was beautiful. Furniture is dated and tatty. The bar area was disappointing and the hotel shop is tiny and very expensive but does cater for those essentials that you might need.
Staff in the hotel are rude especially staff at reception. Waiters are scarce and you have to wait ages to be served. Pool area was clean and tidy but there are never any sun loungers unless you get up really early and put towels out.
The food at the restaurant was awful the breakfast was repetitive and evening meals were bland and nothing like real Moroccan food. Everything was written in French and you've no idea of what is written on menus or signs. Staff speak very little English. The hotel will try and sell you a Moroccan evening at one of the restaurants. Don’t do it its absolute rubbish a total rip off and a mockery to real Moroccan culture. The are three courses of food provided a set menu, but if your vegetarian like me you'll go hungry.
The beach is nice but has loads of pebbles and some rubbish lying about. The Moroccan people on the whole are very rude and unwelcoming, (and I have been on similar holidays in Egypt where the people are fantastic).
The main shopping center called The Souk is fantastic for souvenirs (don’t spend you money in the shops across the road from the hotel.) is fascinating as it is so large and haggling can be fun at times, however some shopkeepers take offence if you don’t buy.
The excursions we took were rubbish and over priced. There is a place next door to the hotel on the right hand side that do tours to other cities. We went to Marrakesh with them its well worth seeing. A long drive but a beautiful busy city with narrow alleys and loads of hustle and bustle. More like the real Morocco. The best food I had had was in Marrakesh really nice restaurants well priced but most of all the best tasting food and excellent service.

Submitted By: Miss C MoranThe people are brilliant there, very friendly, kind, warm and generous. We had a fantastic rep who we ended up tipping +40pound (600 dirham) and the lifeguards were always up for a chat and good to talk to!
The worst thing about the hotel was the food, the breakfast was very basic and the bacon well what there was of it because most of it was fat was very dry and cremated! They had eggs, bacon, beans, bred, croissants but nothing too special. Dinner was a lot better but still not a wide enough selection so most of the time I ended up sticking with chips and bred!
Dangers: Outside of the hotel on the pavement are blue tiles, which are very slippery, ladies that like wearing sandals and flip-flops and shoes with not a lot of grip on! I slipped numerous times, so I always found myself dodging them!
Dangers: Taxi's are very, very cheap but still make sure that they put their meter on. The meter is in the car, every taxi has one and it tells you how much you have to pay them and as you are driving to your destination the amount goes up. They have to put their meter on, otherwise it’s illegal but some chose not to so they can get more money off of you! Don’t let it happen!
Dangers: Haggle until you hoggle! Really, you can haggle half of the price. If they something is 500dirham, start off with a stupid price like 150 dirham because then they are more likely to meet you half way, it worked for us!
Dangers: You'll see a lot of Mother's on streets with babies and asking for money. Its up to you if you feel you'd like to help them out with 50 dirham or something but its always nice to know you've put a smile on someone’s face. But beware and prepared!
A lovely day out to do: Wake up, have breakfast, sit by the pool for an hour or so and soak up some sun, then ask for directions for the petit train which will take you for a 30/35minute tour of Agadir and starts near the Kenzi Europa hotel. Ask for a map from reception. Once you have been around Agadir, cross the road (safely) and walk across for a stroll along the promenade where you'll find shops, cafe's, restaurants including a Pizza hut and McDonalds. Pizza hut is very good value for money, the staff are lovely and there is air-conditioning and TVs inside.
Danger: At the airport you have to keep your eyes open on the way there but the way back especially. Nobody tells you anything, you have to be aware. We saw people filling out forms, so we asked and they said "yes you have to fill out one of these forms" and also before you get past the passport control you have to change all of your dirham because you are not aloud to take dirham out of the country - its illegal. There are more things, but I just can’t remember. Sorry!
Danger: You may think its cloudy and foggy so you don't put suntan lotion on, dont do it, smother loads on still because you'll be surprised when you look in the mirror and your bright red like a tomato! Most of the days we were there the sun was shining much of the time!
Feed the stray cats at the hotel please! I did when I was there, every night we bought ham and milk and chicken and fish for them out of the diner, the waiters just smile, they don't mind. So just wrap it in some tissue and feed the poor things!
Thanks, that’s it! Happy holidays!

Submitted By: Miss L VineHotel was clean and fairly quiet - hardly any kids, which is great for us being a young couple.
We didn’t buy any of the tours offered by the hotel because they were about double what you pay in the local independent tour operators. We went to Marrakech for 350 dirham each, whereas the same trip via Tivoli was 710 each.
The beach was OK - clean and quiet, but hard sand apart from the private beaches where you're crammed in like sardines. We hired a car and drove up the coast to deserted beaches, but the toilets there were very primitive!
Despite having drunk bottled water, we both were glued to the toilet for the last part of the holiday and for a few days after - had to also buy Moroccan antibiotics. There was a queue of tourists in the pharmacy doing the same.
Food in the hotel is great if you love salad - juicy tomatoes and French bread. The orange juice was rotten one day - not sure how long it'd been in the dispenser...
People are friendly in the hotel and don't seem to ask for tips, unlike all other Moroccans.
Everything is a lot cheaper than UK, but watch out that they'll try and rip you off to start with - you can normally get them down to at least half the original asking price.
Night life - fairly dire! We're both in our 20s and there was nothing really to do. It didn’t' bother us too much as there was a TV in the room and we were always tired from the sun.
Generally, we had a great holiday but it was spoilt a bit by the gastroenteritis we both contracted.
