Awful service from someone called Maria. Rude and nasty. The rooms are so basic that we left!

  • Advice: nice place awful Maria in charge!
  • Good For: Beach
  • Board Basis:Room Only
  • Tour Operator:Booked Independently

Apologies for not writing sooner,...

Apologies for not writing sooner, wanted to keep this one quiet. A truly relaxing spot with the best of hosts in Maria and Andreas. Rooms very clean and tidy, plenty of sunbeds around a spotless pool area, snacks and drinks available whenever you require. Beach is a few mins walk, shops, bars restaurants all within easy walking distance. Very quiet at night - guaranteeing a good nights kip. Mopeds and quad bikes can be a pain during the day. Car parking facilities at the rear of the complex. We have been twice to Sunset, spaced over 4 years, will definitely visit again.
Best wishes to Andreas Maria and the family, and thanks for a great stay.

A great family run hotel very...

A great family run hotel very friendly and helpful people, swimming pool clean & tidy at all times, and rooms basic but cleaned every day and sufficient for our needs as we spent very little time in our room. Andréa’s & Maria and their family run the whole complex personally and you get the best of attention.
No outside noise at all at night as the rooms are away from the main road so you will get a good nights sleep, complex is ideally located turn left out of complex and you are in Stalis with many good tavernas & bars try the Marmaris which is part of the Alexander beach complex. About 5 mins walk, turn right out of complex and you are in Malia more lively but lots more tavernas & bars try Zorbas or made in Greece.
Locals are very welcoming and friendly the beaches are great and only 5 mins walk. Look out for scooters and quads as holiday makers seem to favour these as forms of transport between the two resorts and whiz past you with little regard.
Breakfast is continental but sufficient if you want English breakfasts try mamba in Stalis great value and run by a Scottish couple. Weather was great 70 to 80 every day with a light breeze, we would certainly go back

We stayed here on our first visit to Crete and i am pleased to say we couldn’t have chose a better hotel.
The hotel is conveniently located, with just a short stroll to the fabulous beach and 5 mins to the left takes you to the centre of Stalis and 5-10 mins to the right takes you into Malia. There is just one long road which takes you from Stalis to Malia so you cant get lost. The hotel has a nice pool and the snack bar has a good menu. All food is cooked by Maria and Andreas makes fabulous cocktails.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. There is a wide selection of pubs& restaurants both Greek & English and we enjoyed every meal. The Greek are the most friendly people, without a doubt I will go back to visit again.

A lovely little hotel. We have stayed here two years running in May / June time. The hotel and pool are very well maintained as is the lovely flora and fauna all around. The owner Andreas and his wife Maria are very pleasant, Andreas makes the best cocktails in Stalis, using fresh fruit for all the drinks.
Stalis itself has a lot to offer, nice eateries and shopping and of course the beach. A lovely place to stay all in all.
PS. Breakfasts are very basic, the only reason I don't rate at 10.
