easter break

just got back from a week in the dedalos and had a great time. The staff were very helpful at all times but wont put up with others disrupting the majorities holiday. The weather was ideal and the greek restaurants in the old town were fantastic. The buses on the island were coaches and great value, well worth a trip out of town. Beach bar MIKES had very friendly and helpful staff who made us and my young son very welcome. I would recommend the resort and hotel to others and those with children (mines 22 months) but dont go in season if you want a relaxing quiet hol. A lovely easter break.

I would never go there again and i would advise anyone wishing to go there reconsider

I went on holiday to crete for a week in july with a group of 8 girls. We had a fantastic time in Malia, the weather was great and the hotel was quite basic but for the price that we paid worth it. Luckily none of us had to pay for room damages but we did see other guests - usually groups of lads - charged for their rooms being damaged/unclean. However, one thing i will criticise is that i would reccommend that you do not go for the bed and breakfast option - go self catering. I only made it down once as i found it pointless after the first venture - the choice was minimal and it was very unappetising. The food in general at the bar isn't very good - i survived on cheese and ham toasties all week, and its also quite expensive to buy drinks, but with the strip being so close it wasn't much of an issue. Last random point i bought a banana colada - and it tasted of lemon slush avoid at all costs!!

I went to Malia with three of my friends, the hotel is lovely and very clean. However George is not a ledgend he is a grumpy man, he shouted at us for talking when we came in at night. Marios is very funny, though we didnt really see him that much. Nightlife is brilliant. The beach is quite far away from hotel. Had a great fandango holiday, would definetly go again but at right time of the year as some bars were shut already for end of season! Watch out for sexy PRs on the strip.

Malia dedalos hotel is ideally...

Malia dedalos hotel is ideally positioned in the Malia Resort. My boyfriend and I are a young couple in our early 20's so we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere that Malia offered. The old village has some beautiful restaurants. Ideally Malia is for young people who are with there friends but there were families their so who ever you go with you will have a fab time.
Cant wait to go back to crete.

My husband and I stayed here for one...

My husband and I stayed here for one week at the beginning of September We really enjoyed it!
Was nervous about going to Malia as we had heard all the hype about the young kids getting drunk etc But we shouldn't have worried Perhaps with hindsight we would have chosen another resort, but we managed to find some lovely places The Old Village is great and the San Georgiou restaurant is a must We found some lovely bars and restaurants away from the main strip and the beach between Malia and Stalis is within easy walking distance and was beautiful
The hotel was lovely The staff - especially Koula, Charlie and Marios were really fab and made our stay very enjoyable The rooms were as expected fairly basic, but the shower was good and powerful and the bed comfortable The cleaners did a good job of cleaning the room everyday and we couldn't fault a thing
Overall we had a brilliant time and whilst we maybe should have picked a different resort, we have nothing but good things to say about the Dedalos!!

A really great holiday desitination....

A really great holiday desitination. At the Malia Dedalos you get all the fun of a holiday in the sun with all the bars and restaurants you could want just round the corner but a relaxed feeling at the hotel. Its is not luxury accommodation but there is everything that you could need. The pool is great and so is the bar and staff. Security are great and keep any drunk teenagers quiet after midnight so what more can you ask for!
I loved it and can no wait to go back!

DONT STAY HERE!! i cant believe all...

DONT STAY HERE!! i cant believe all the people saying this hotel is good. The staff are all violent, especially the security gaurd George!! When we went out everyone we spoke to knew the hotel and staff because they have such a reputation for being rude and swearing non stop. One night i came in and George started shouting "go to your room, im going to come with my friends and [--] you up"...and were 2 girls!! This went on every night without fail, whether we were staying in or going out. They have this rule there that after 12 you have 2 be scilent...not even quiet, scilent, which considering how close to the stip of clubs is pretty stupid.
Marios, the owner may come over friendly but he really isnt. One night he took his master key, unlocked our door and walked in on me and my friend when we were sleeping looked arounf and walked out 5 mins later with no apology...considering hes an old pervy man was not good. When we complained they just laughed and shouted at us???
Another rule is your not allowed anyone back to your room, which is fair enough, but your also (according to george and marios) not allowed to go in any of the other guests rooms aswell which is stupid considerng are other friends were there too!! I also warn you...they will try and charge you for everything!!!!! they have a list of prices for everything from the towels to the chairs, sheets to the lights!!! and there ridiculously expensive, like 30 euros for a glass!!! since they take your passports when you check in you HAVE TO PAY!!! even if its not really broken or the sheets are apparently stained!! luckily for us we were friendly with the cleaner!!
My advise is steer clear of this hotel....if you want to be close to the strip go 18-30's, they all seemed like nice clean hotels, if you want something quieter go to one of the hotels on the beach or in stalis....but DONT stay here....be warned!!!
p.s This is no reflection of malia...because i had a brill time in the clubs and bars....especially appollo and lush bar!!! beach is fun, food is pretty bad and if you rent a quad bike be warned...it may seem cheap at the time but the people you hire it off of will find your bike, break it and charge you for it, or steal it and make you pay for it, no lie, saw it happen!!

Malia Dedalos hotel is awesome,...

Jul 2008, Miss K Rumbelow

Malia Dedalos hotel is awesome, couldn't have had a better hotel to stay i Malia.
The hotel staff are great especially Marios, he made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived!
Don't listen to any bad reviews, its in a perfect location just literally 2minutes away from the main strip, the security guard is on watch all through the night so it's very safe and help is always at hand!
We didn't have muc time to get up for breakfast but the one time we did it was pretty basic but the food in the snack bar was nice and quite cheap! Overall Dedalos hotel definitely helped make our holiday and would recommend the hotel and Malia to any young people up for a good night out with friends!!

wouldnt recommend anyone staying in...
1 / 10
Jul 2008, Miss J Irons

wouldnt recommend anyone staying in this hotel, not unless you want to be assualted by the hotel staff. The room doesnt look anything like it is in the brochures. The furniture is really old, the bed is about 2cm thin and they dont even provide you with toilet roll! The handle fell off our balcony door so anyone could walk in coz we were on the ground floor. The hot tap didnt work in the sink, but we were ok as we would just get a wash in the shower, until the hot water went off in the shower aswell! i ended up using a courtesy shower across the other side of the hotel. This hotel just seem to want to take your money. They made me leave my passport with them for the whole week. When i went to get my passport back at the end of the hol the woman on reception said she needed to check our room. Apparently we got a bit of make up on the towel so she wanted $20 or no passport! I said it was just a bit of makeup and would come out in the wash- what do they expect when then only changed the towels once in the whole week. She was very aggresive and pushed me and also called us putanis in front of all the other guests, i later found out this means slut or slag in greek. We asked to complain to a manger, the manager just laughed in our face. We ended up paying $10 for a manky grey hand towel which wouldve came clean in th wash and was worth half a euro, but atleast i got my passport back. Lots of people told us they had taken money of them aswell. Wouldnt stay in this hotel if you paid me.

Myself (21 years) and my boyfriend...
10 / 10
Jun 2008, gemmagilb

Myself (21 years) and my boyfriend (22 years) stayed for a week in Malia at the Malia Dedalos Apartments. We had such a great time and loved everything about the Malia Dedalos.
Our board basis was self catering. The rooms are spacious but typical Greek (very plain and basic). There is a radio in the room however i suggest you take a cd player if you're like me and need music around 24/7. The cleaners come every day (excluding sundays) and do a great job as the rooms are spotless. In the apartments you get very basic cooking equipment but we only used the fridge for the water (DO NOT DRINK THE TAP WATER).
There are safety deposit boxes in the rooms which are available for hire (can't remember price but worth it). Also air conditioning is available at a cost (again worth it) and all rooms have either a balcony or terrace. If you have a night time flight you can pay to have your room until 7pm as opposed to 12 noon. You will not be able to find out though until the day before....ask at reception.
The location of the Malia Dedalos is perfect as it is close to the strip but set back enough that you DO NOT get the noise of the bars and clubs. It is literally a three minute walk. If you're in a group and make noise through the early hours as you arrive back prepare to face the wrath of the security guard....however this is good as those who are sleeping dont get disturbed.
The pool area is small however there seemed to always be enough sunbeds to go around. The bar at Malia Dedalos is open 24/7 and the drinks, cocktails and food there is priced well and delicious!!! So its great if you're having a lazy pool day. The staff are also great and make you feel welcome....nothing is too much trouble.
The beach is a fifteen minute or so walk. Turn right out of the hotel and left down the 'strip' and carry on until you come to the end.....it does get busy though and you have to rent the sunbeds. The sea is gorgeous and warm (well it was when we were there) and the water sports on the beach are great (we did the parasailing).
The restaraunts aren't that great and you'll be fed up of chips!! So go to the old town if you like nice authentic meals. Also there is a lovely romantic restaurant just off the strip....at the cross roads (you'll see McDonalds on the right) go left and its one of the first ones on the right hand side....the name escapes me but it begins with 'D' Theres a lady with curly hair stood outside entising you in...go in there as its lovely.
The nightlife is AMAZING and we had a ball......the bar staff are brill and you'll have a great night (it does get a bit wearing though when the 'reps' stand in front of you and bribe you to go in their bar) But all in all brilliant. The pub on the corner 'union jack' is a good laugh and Nikos is a legend!!!! He'll make you feel welcome!
The weather was great in May 27-33 degrees.
Malia Dedalos seemed to suit everyone as there were groups, younger couples and older couples. Everyone seemed to be having a great holiday.
We do have one complaint thought and that is with the Thomas Cook flights. I think they crammed as many seats in as possible and if you are tall (I'm 6'0") then i suggest you book extra leg room. I dont get claustrophobic however was so squashed on the way there it almost made me vomit....also the air con wasnt working (or if it was they didnt put it on) and everyone was frying!!!!!
On the way home we decided to buy extra leg room. We decided that as the plane was so hot coming that we'd not wear full length jeans....what a mistake that was as the heating wasn't working!! Ha whata joke EVERYONE was cold and the cabin crew were more than happy to SELL blankets to passengers!!!!! I think they made a mint!
So moral of the story is if you're over 5'8" book extra leg room and prepare for all climates!
Malia Dedalos is great....we highly recommend and would go back!!!!!!
