Excellent clean hotel
from Lloydy79
My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 1 week and had a fantastic time. The hotel rooms are clean and spacious and were attended every day by the maids. on arrival our air conditioning never worked so we mentioned it to recepition and sat by the pool, on returning to the room we found the hotel maintenace had aready been and fixed the air con so they got straight on the job which is good. The food at this hotel is above average, I didn't care much for the breakfast but found the dinner was fine. The hotel is situated right on the beach and the sea is really clear. The pool is fairly large and is great for kids, we only found problems getting a sunlounger on 1 day of our stay. The staff at this hotel are freindly and polite and always willing to help. Protaras is a very family/ couple orientated resort there are some fantastic resteraunts here, I recommend an italian place called La Strada Italliano, I had my best peppered fillet steak ever. All in all this is a fantastic place to go and you wont be disapointed.

Just spent 7 days at Rising Star, glad to leave. I and the "other Granny" were travelling with my daughter, husband & 3 children. Granny B & I had booked seperate apartments and I e-mailed months ahead & asked if we could have an apartment near my daughter & family. When we booked in we were put in the annexe & my daughter & family were put in main building - couldn't have been placed any further apart. However Granny B & I were glad to be in the annexe (a bit quieter than main building but only a bit quieter). Apartment was OK (have stayed at better)no tea towels or washing up liguid, kettle would not work in any socket in kitchen (had to use it in living room). Our apartment was clean but my daughter's wasn't. The floor was dirty and she informed reception - next day cleaner "wet" the floor but did not clean it. As my daughter has 3 young children, she could not risk them dropping something on the floor and then putting it in their mouths, she had to clean it herself. Reception staff and night porter were not that helpful. Daytime entertainment was much too loud, especially when you were having a snack at the pool restaurant, and on that note the staff there were the most helpful, pleasant and professionally crowd I have ever met. There was no supervision what so ever at the pool - grown ups with lidos in the shallow end, grown ups sitting in the baby pool reading books (how sad) and of course loungers pre booked with towels from very early morning and not by Germans but by English folks !!! SO DO NOT "KNOCK" GERMANS ANYMORE.
Fantastic!

My husband, my son and I stayed in these apartments from 1st August 2007 for two weeks, and were very pleased with them. Having previously stayed in the sister hotel, Golden Star, which is across the road, we knew we would have a great holiday anyway. I had e-mailed in advance asking for a low floor room overlooking the pool, which I got, and the staff were very friendly, as were the entertainers. Chris was brilliant with the kids, he deserves a medal as they really dive all over him in the pool, and my husband kept pouring ice cold water down his back during splashdance, although Chris did manage to get him back in the end! The pool was lovely and there always seemed enough sunbeds, even though they were all taken by 9 in the morning! there was always something going on in the evening if you don't like to leave your hotel, but we went up to the main street every night for our meals, as we love the restaurants in Protaras and there are lots of bars with entertainment. go to Sphinx bar and see the drag act, very good! The hotel is ideally situated at the bottom of a not very steep hill, and it is only a five minute walk from the hotel to the resort centre. the beach is only a minute away, and there are lots of amenities around, supermarket, launderette restaurants, etc etc. i would recommend this place every time, and we are going back in 2009 (would have gone next year but i had already booked a holiday to Menorca !)
don't expect too much

These apartments are just ok I wouldn't say they were bad they were just ok ,the location was near the beach which was quite shingly, and you have to walk up a hill to get to the resort centre, this is ok as in the centre it can be noisy where as these apts are quiet, the apartments are quite large we stayed in a 1 bed the problems are there are only 3 small drawers for your clothes also the fridge must be the noisiest fridge in any apartment I have stayed in this would be ok if there was only 2 people in a 1 bed but as we were a party of three we ended up drawing straws for who would sleep in the living area, even with copious amounts of cocktails you were still aware of the noise of fridge ,you were also given 4 glasses ,4 cups,4 plates etc ,maybe ive been spoilt but after reading other reviews I did expect more from these apts I woul give them 7/10.
Woow, what a fantastic place

Stayed here from the 6th-20th june 2007 2 adults 2 kids. Would say the rising star are 1 of the best places i`ve stayed, one bedroom appartment spacious spotlessly clean never saw a cockroach while in the resortand, beleive me i usually do! Entertainment with Christos and Airan in the hotel was fantastic for the kids always something going on and there not too pushy. protaras its self would recomend for family of most ages, found the place expensive but it would`nt stop me returning We dined out every evening some of the best places we ate are my favorite was Yianne marie resturant,me husband loved the steak in astoris, chi chi mexican, the rising star resturant had buffet nights we only did the bbq night but did it twice because it was good with a good illusionist on after the meal. weather was fantastic for the full 2 teeks we were there. We will diffenently return to the rising star hope this of help.
Great Self Catering accomodation

I booked our holiday just 3 days before we travelled as a last minute. The first thing we were greeted with was the amazing view from reception of the clear blue sea! The hotel is situated almost directly on the beach so if the pool area is a bit too crowded or noisy it is ideal. Staff were very friendly and spoke good english. Hotel is exceptionally clean, and the maid service was good. We didn't dine at the hotel restaurant but we found some amazing places to eat. I like to try as much local and national dishes as i can instead of having a 5 hour flight to eat steak and chips!! The best place by a mile is the Astoria which is found on the walk to the main strip. The staff are the most friendly, and the food is amazing especially the Kleftiko and Cyprus Meze. Also Chi-Chis is great if you like Mexican. Belles Bar is good for a bit of karaoke and a bit of Brit, while the Eden Square is best for Greek dancing etc. If you want to try an excursion, definately do the Troodos Jeep Safari!!! This takes you up to the Troodos Mountains, to a waterfall, to a camel park, to a wine tasting session, and to a little church that was ruined by the Turks invasion. It has everything, the guides are excellent especially Kris and there is nothing that they don't know about Cyprus. Protaras is very English, with endless pubs serving traditional pub grub, but you can find some amazing restaurants if you look around. I would definately go back, this holiday was excellent!!!
Excellent choice!!

These Apartments are excellent and 5mins from everywhere plus good value for money. The apartments were spotless, the staff very helpful and friendly. Our arrival late at nite was around 1045pm Cyprus time and one of the waitresses[Paulina]literally brought us over to the Rising Star pub to get some hot food.We attended 2 regular events "on the Terrace" ,the International Food nite and Cyprus food nite, both very enjoyable. We liked the grassy area where sunloungers are located , being further away from noisy entertainment being provided for kids around the swimming pool!!. Protaras itself ,in the main ,is a good resort with plenty of variety for eating out.Recommendations would be Eden Square for entertainment and Georgias ,Princes ,Yianna Marie restaurants all located ,strangely enough 5/10 mins from the Rising Star.Downside?? too many Karaoke and theme pubs. We also hired a car for 2days visiting Larnaka,Paphos ,Nicosia etc.If you are into local history we recommend the World Heritage Centre in Paphos which has acres of recently discovered mosaics, houses ,ampitheatre, basillicas and a fort some of which dated back to the 1st and 2nd Century.Nicosia was also very interesting as we took a trip across "the buffer Zone" into the Turkish occupied area.If you are planning to do this bring your passports with you. Overall our Cyprus experience [unlike our first trip 3years ago due to rubbish accommodation and location in Capparis!!] was excellent with recommendations from work colleagues and reading reviews we definitely made the right choice this time!!
Best holiday yet
from 07lynchy07
class, best holiday yet. I would go again any day. The flight from newcastle was about 5 hours and a 40 minute bus ride to the hotel, where we were warmly welcomed. The rooms were well maintained and so was the pool and the food was good however it must be said the pool tables were old and needed replacing and the bar staff hardly understood a word of English and they were all romananian or polish and spilt coka cola all over me! Dispite this it was a great holiday with resterants near the resort and as fantastic water park a short taxi drive away. i would advise you to go in march - july or oct - november because the peek of summer would just be too hot. in june when i went to the Rising Star it was 30 digrees which is hot enough. Top class cant wait to go again next year. *****
Excellent Rising Star
from John Jeffs
Stayed here in Oct 2004 for two weeks and couldn't fault it. Location, staff, rooms were all first class and the hotel was spotless. We stayed in Room 104 which had a lovely pool /sea view. Went to Barbados last year and tried Paphos this year but will return to the Rising Star next May. Counting down already!
Loved the Rising Star
from DJS1962
This was a first visit to cyprus for my family and i, and i must say how thouroughly impressed we all were with the terrific and impressive rising star , it is located right on the beach in the gorgeous resort of protaras and provided all of us with our best holiday abroad to date, the room was spacious, spotlessly clean and full of all essential appliances required for a self catering holiday. the main room was comfortable and spacious leading to a balcony with great views over the med and the town, the bedroom was huge the biggest i have ever seen in a holiday establishment, we also had a bath and excellent shower facility in the bathroom. the rooms were kept spotless and clean by the daily maid service and the bedding and towels are changed on a very regular basis, the maids along with both the reception and bar staff are a credit to this great hotel, they are all so friendly and hard working to ensure your holiday here is kept to the highest standards, also the entertainment staff here do a fantastic job for kids and adults alike with both day and night time activities without ,it should be noted hassling you, you are encouraged to join in but not forced and if you just want to relax they respect that which i thought was superb. the hotel has a fantastic pool and bar area, again spotlessly clean as is the trademark all through this establishment, sunbeds are plentiful and extend onto the lovely grass terrace in front of the beach that give an amazing view out over the mediterranian, the hotel also has a large upper terrace and bar that is open in the evening, where you can enjoy an appetiser before a meal or a night cap later on, the hotel has a magnificent restaurant and poolside terrace for meals and lunches and breakfasts should you so desire to eat here otherwise the town just a few minutes walk away is full of lively bars and tavernas offering superb food and entertainment, the hotel also has an indoor pool ,sauna, steam room and very impressive gym, as well as pool tables a tennis court and table tennis room and a kiddies indoor play area. the hotel is located next to a magnifcent sandy beach the sea is safe ,warm and crystal clear. the beach to the left is of a different contrast with rockpools that shelve of into a rocky bay that is a must for snorkelling and fishing, and there is even a jetty here that provides daily boat trips to local points of interest along the coast this also compliments the vast array of watersports and activities ie, para sailing, jet skis peddalos , etc, available at competitive prices along the beach, the beach itself leads round to the fantastic blue flagged fig tree bay, everything you could possible require for a holiday is close at hand and a fully equipped supermarket (very well priced as well as the rising star pub again superb and the yianna maria, tavernas are all close by and part of this terrific complex this hotel gets booked up quickly and thats added proof of its excellence, protaras is a superb hassle free resort that caters for families, couples young and old alike the local people are friendly polite and very welcoming .and the weather here is amazing, protaras is a fantastic base for a holiday and the rising star is the jewel in the crown for money and value it cannot be beaten you wont be dissapointed, book and enjoy a wonderful holiday..........
