My family and I stayed here for two weeks at the beggining of september and had a fab time,Weather was glorious and the overall accomidation at the Rising Star was good.Loads of Sunbeds to choose from, although we were not supposed to reserve, but as us british always do,we did anyway!!!!

We met lots of friendly people,Especially Jon,Elaine and Jack.

The staff were very friendly as were Matt and Sarah, the entertainers.I would not reccomend the Rising Star for entertainment, especially for children under 12.

The actuall apartments were always clean and tidy, but our room 518 was on the very top floor and you could aften hear the tanks and pumps, but this did not whatso ever spoil our holiday.

To buy In Cyprus is very expensive since we went to Protaras 6 yeasr ago, so watch the pennies

Def go back, prob next year, but will try out another accomodation

hi

just returned back from rising star , read all reports about the place thought all those people cant be wrong ,and they werent, staff friendly ,lovely views, sea and pool, linen very clean everything a person could want on holiday ,room 220. met a lovely family(allbeit they are cockneys only joking lindsay & trev ) who were in room 418 they thought exactly the same, weather 30 -35 degrees every day, the walk up to the strip is not far about 800 mtrs .then the walk along the strip ,by the time you stop for a drink at every bar the short walk back doesnt matter, lots and lots of eating places prices on a par with gud old blighty super markets prices arnt too steep either but did notice a difference compared to three years ago , back to rising star true about ear infections probably down to the fact that theres a severe water shortage in cyprus , and couldnt empty and refill pool ,pool was cleaned thoroughly every morning,(the infections might stop if perents would educate thier little mights from peeing in the pool as they can only put a certain amount of clorine in)

could probaly throw a stone in the sea from the pool met some lovely people whilst there, our five year old was well catered for by the thomas cook staff matt and sarah ,all in all a really nice holiday, would definetly go back

Hi

Just returned from 2 week holiday in Rising Star apartments and will def be returning.

Had perfect view from room 101 which being on the corner overlooked the beach and also the pool and was big enough for myself, partner and 2 children although not a lot of storage space. The maid service was excellent and she was very friendly, she did have a habit of laying my nightwear out on the bed as if I was sleeping which was a bit strange!

My daughter (aged 4) loved the entertainment and we had trouble getting her out of the pool most days, my son (13) also loved the pool and the polo matches in the afternoon. Sarah and Matt did the best they could but the kids loved them anyway.

Best places for food were Yianna Marie and the Anatolia with fantastic food and very friendly and helpful staff although my daughter didn't like the way they constantly touched her hair (she is very blond) and wanted to kiss her all the time. They even did food for her which wasn't on the menu.

Overall a fantastic holiday which we did not want to end, roll on next year.

Just got back from rising star apartments, our first visit to cyprus, and it wont be our last. Apartments were amazing, clean, good facilites, and a lovely view over sea, beach, and pool.

Kids entertainers were brilliant, although we didnt have any with us. Staff were very friendly, and what I really liked was the fact that if you took your own food and drinks down to the pool, it was fine, no one said anything, unlike other self catering apartments we have stayed in. This was a bonus as drinks round the pool are always double prices!

The best restaurant we found was the astoria, which is just round the corner from the apts, we ate in there almost every night, the food was amazing and reasonable price. They could not do enough for you, even went to market early for us some fresh fish which wasnt on the menu. How about that for service?

We will definately go back to these apts.

The weather was roasting, and we always got a sunbed even if we went to the pool in late afternoon.

Just returned from a two week stay at the Rising Star. We were travelling with 2 children aged 9 and 3 and our friends with children of same age. I can not fault the hotel. We arrived early hours of the morning and were immediatly located our room with a fantanstic pool/sea view. The location is perfect for families/couples. Situated right on the beach and a short walk to the main strip makes it more peacefull at the night times (thats if your like us and love your sleep!!). There is free air-con which is a big bonus as it can get really hot.

The hotel is very clean with maid service almost everyday. Although while we were there our children did pick up slight ear infections so I would recommend to wear ear plugs for the swimming pool.

The entertainment was good but could have been better. I would say that the entertainers need to do more to cater for the younger children ie. 2-5 years. There is not much going on for this age group apart from the mini disco. We went out most nights, but know that not alot of people stay in for the evening entertainment. In fact some times they didn't bother at all because there was not enough people to join in the activities. The entertainers did the best they could and were good with the children in the day time. Our kids loved the club dance (cartoon heroes)

There is plently of bars and restaurants to choose from outside of the hotel. The Red Idian and the Anatolia were really nice. Zodiacs karaoke bar is a good night and caters for all ages.

Overall we had a fab holiday. We will be returning to the rising star next year. The hotel, atmosphere, food and of course the weather is brilliant.

Just back from Protaras, stayed at the Rising star hotel/apartments. On arrival our party of 4 x 40ish adults were allocated an apartment in the recently built seperate annex right at the side of the main hotel. I can honestly say that we must have had the best apartment in the block, the top corner floor (5th) with a fabulous sea and pool view as requested and the lift was always working. The apartment was huge, we did however booked a 6 bed aparatment for 4 adults but 6 adults or adults and children would be more than comfortable in these apartments. We had not one but TWO spacious & seperate balconies both overlooking the sea & resort. We had 3 bedrooms two twin/double and one single room and there was a sofa bed in the main lounge for a 6th person if required. There was a seperate very well equipt kitchen with grill/oven, toaster, kettle, utensils, fridge/freezer pots & pans etc. Towels were changed every other day and apartments cleaned very well. There was lots of entertainment on at the hotel if you wanted it but we tended to walk around the corner to "the strip" where you will find every cuisine and every style of bar were the service is great. Food is fabulous, we never had a bad meal anywhere. Had breakfast in the hotel on two occasions which was very nice. The hotel is situated at the end of the beach so you get a fabulous view or the resort, beach is literally 20 strides away from the hotel pool area so the choice is yours. All in all we were well impressed with the hotel & apartments. the only thing that I can think on as a minus was the fact that the air conditioning which is very much needed in Cyprus tended to leak a bit but it was no huge problem, a towel underneath sorted the problem. Overall an 8/10 is well deserved. Would stay here again.

Hi,

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a one week break at the Rising Star and have had a lovely, relaxed holiday.

This was my fourth visit to Cyprus and second time in Protaras whereas it was my girlfriends second visit to the island and first time in Protaras.

We booked the holiday a day before departure and got a really good deal with the Travel Agents although we wasn't too sure what the hotel was going to be like as we hadn't read up on any reviews. The lady that booked the holiday for us said she had stayed in the Golden Star last year and both of the hotels we're really nice.

After booking the holiday we returned home and read up some customer reviews on various websites, the most of which were really positive. With this in mind we had high expectations of the resort and was really looking forward to visiting this hotel.

When being dropped off at the resort we was the only two to get off our packed transfer coach which at the time was a little worrying! This quickly changed though as our first impressions of the hotel was really good. The reception area was really smart and the location was perfect for beach lovers. The pool was a great size and the area surrounding it was really spacious with plenty of sunloungers.

I probably wouldn't recommend this hotel (for its location not amenities) to disabled users as its slightly away from the Main Strip with a steep uphill walk to get to the main bars and restuarants. Even as an active couple in our twenties we found it tiring in the heat trekking up the road to get to the main area.

I found that the two ladies we dealt with on Reception over the week weren't overly helpful nor cheerful despite lots of reviews saying all the staff were fantastic? The bar and restuarant staff were really good though and they do a fantastic job. I can also say the same for the maids as they look after the rooms really well and provide you with clean bedding and towels on most days.

The hotel had two Thomas Cook entertainers, Sarah and Andy. They are both good at what they do and are fantastic with the kids. Andys' enthusiasm for the job is brilliant especially as he must have done the club dances everyday for the last few months yet he still puts everything he has in to them. Sarah is slightly different to Andy and probably interacts with the older clientel better so they make a good team.

On arrival we was allocated room 418 on the fourth floor. We took the lift up to this level and as soon as the door opened there in front of us was our room, literally two steps from the lift! We entered the room and immediately checked out the view from the balcony. WOW. We had a sea and pool view which made for some fantastic photos of Fig Tree Bay.

Our room itself was a studio apartment which was more than enough adequate for two people. We soon found it to have its problems though... The air con was more than welcome but if it was left on for any period of time, like overnight, it resulted in loads of water leaking from it and a pool of water gathering on the floor. The dripping was pretty annoying too especially as we was trying to sleep. We also had a faulty toilet too which leaked and made another annoying sound like the air con if not worse! Then there was the lift... Ok it was nice in one way having it right outside your door but it would be fair to say they aren't the smoothest of lifts and they make quite a racquet when moving and opening and closing. This again gave an added and unwanted sound when trying to relax or sleep!

I'm pretty certain that all of the rooms are not like this and we was probably a little unlucky as to where we was put. In all fairness you don't go on holiday to stay in your room either so we found that we could tolerate these problems for the short time we spent there. I would advise anyone (especially light sleepers!) who get allocated this room ask to be put elsewhere as I think it could really make your stay unpleasent.

Despite these small glitches, it hasn't put me off returning there for a future visit. As a whole we enjoyed our holiday and our stay at the Rising Star and would recommend this hotel to all ages.

On a slightly seperate note away from the hotel, try to avoid any canvassers on Protaras Main Strip offering scratch cards as a promotion for a nearby hotel... You really will have your fingers burnt if you get roped into their 'offers'!

Me and missus with our 2 kids (10yr old boy and 7yr old girl) stayed in the Rising Star between 10th - 24th August. Second time to Cyprus, the first time was 3yrs ago and we stayed in the Pernera area. Would definately recommend the Rising Star thought it was absolutely superb. We've already asked for a price from our Tour Operator for next year.

It's a very new complex, with a fantastic location. We were fortunate enough to have a sea view (room 410) looking out over Fig Tree Bay and the swimming pool.

Very clean hotel, with good amenities (gym, pool tables, table tennis etc).

Entertainment was pretty much the same day to day and is what you come to expect wherever you go (cartoon heroes and stuff). However, the kids loved it dancing in or by the pool at 4pm each day. You were not forced to join in any of the activities (which I was pleased about).

Weather was brilliant as you would expect but with a cooling breeze.

Nightlife in Protaras was geared up for families, with a lot of tribute acts in the various pubs. (The Welsh Elvis (from Barry) was a good laugh in the Square Pub).

Prices were not to bad, in general our evening meal with a couple of drinks were averaging out approx 45-50 Euros for 2 adults and 2 kids. You could find some pubs selling a pint of Keo/Leon for 2euros, but on the whole most were about 3euros.

Will be there next year

first time to cyprus but will def return and to the rising star hotel.found all the staff tobe helpful and polite.we had a studio apartment which was big enough for two adults and one child.the only down side was that the balcony was small which also only had two chairs on it .the only other down side is that the wardrobe was very small and not really big enough.andy and sarah the entertainers were absolutly first class, full of energy and did everything to keep the children and adults entertained.the yianna marie restuarant which is part of the complex was first rate especially the waiters called nick, maria and antonis and the manager leo.when we were there our daughter got an ear infection from the pool as did a few other children so as a precaution i would invest in some earplugs.the only downside to the whole holiday was the very long delay we had to get there and the very long delay on our return journey but that did not stop us from having one of our best holidays ever.

Hi,

had 2 weeks at the Rising Star, end of July to beg Aug. Really nice apartments, cleaned and sheets changed reg, pool area cleaned every day ( though couple of us came back with ear infections ).

Apartments average sized but with everything that you need, balconies really small, if you want a balcony with the sun in the afternoon then you need a field view, which isnt all that bad, better than looking out on a building site or a load of other hotels.

Didnt eat at the apartments much as self catering but the lunches are nice.

Bar staff on the whole are pleasent especially Danny , who has the misfortune to come from Bolton!

Protaras as a whole is pretty average really, looking out on the main road from one of the bars and you could be anywhere on the Med. Though there are some nice bars, Flora bar which is at the top of the road that leads you into town and Waves , which has the football on.

The best places to eat we found were Astoria and Anatolia though must admit that we did eat at McDonalds a couple of times being typically British.

The entertainment team at Rising Star are the best that I have ever come across. Andy is really funny and always up for a laugh with the kids and Sarah is lovely !

They work really hard to make sure that you have a good holiday, remember all the kids names and always have a smile.

My kids, 15 and 16 both had a really good time and made loads of friends !

Going to Spain next year , but wouldnt hesitate to come back to Rising Star in the future !

This was our third time back to the rising star apartments. Was lovely, rooms are extreamly clean, maid service everyday. All the people that work there are extreamly polite and can't seem to do enough for you.

In a fantastic position on fig tree bay and within 200m of bars, shops and places to eat out.

Weather was fantastic... 40 degree heat everyday and some days 45/ 46 degrees. (And this was in the first two weeks of July).

Would recomend the boat trips to everyone... good value for money (15 euros each) for a two hour trip up to famigusta... not only is it fun but you get to learn a little about the islands history...

Wouldn't say the entertainment was very good this year (Sarah and Andy). Chris and Aeron who worked there last year were much better.

Have allready booked to go back to Cyprus again for next year... absoloutly love it!!

HI

i stayed at the Rising Star apartments from 30th july- 13th aug, and i had a fantastic time!! met some great people, if you remember me i was one of the only people from london, lol was with my son Brandon and partner Kingsley.. find me on face book lol

sorry......

well we had a studio for 2 adults and a 5 year old. which suited us fine, plenty of room, and was very clean, great cleaners, linen change and towels nearly every day! we had fantastic sea view room, not alot of storage space but suited us fine. the evening entertainment went on till about 12, it wasnt a problem with the apartment door shut to balcony you couldnt really hear it!

entertainment was great, for both kids and adults!

i no my partner got envolved with water bingo, water polo, mr rising star, he loved it. so did my little one with the evening entertainment, all the dances cartoon heros, etc.

if you didnt want to join in they didnt force you, andy and sarah were great!!!

the pool area was great, cleaned every morning and the cleaners cleaned all showers emptied bins and picked up all rubbish, there is alot of sunbeds to go round, the ones around front of pool do go early, as i must admint i got up early to get one, only so i could see my little one from my lounger and not have to restrict him going in the pool because i couldnt see him..

in summer months i think you may find people from other hotels and locals using the pool which can be pain..

only bad thing about the pool to beware of is ear infections, must be something they use in pool, but my son got one after 4 days of being there, but managed to get ear drops from local chemist, then used ear plugs. i would advised anyone who is going to be in pool alot adults and children to use ear plugs at all times,, id say 80% of kids had ear infections or were using ear plugs..

the beach was great... but can work out expensive if ur going to go there alot and use the sunbeds, worked out for 2 loungers 6 euros..

hotel in great location, 5 minutes walk to main strip with lots of bars and resturants and shops.

astoria resturant is great, also red indian, and a must try is mr cod!

worst meal was Raj indian, expensive and tastes like a boil in the bag indian.. wouldnt recommend there!

the mini golf is great its just past the flintstones resturant, and its cheap to play aswell..

the weather was fantastic, 40 degrees every day!

all in all holiday was great, would def go back to the rising star again, met some great people, had a great experience..

its not as cheap as it used to be in cyprus, its not much different in price from living in london, so didnt notice it, i didnt think it was to bad..

10/10

Our 3rd year in Protaras 2nd year at the Rising Star. We have been spoilt by coming to this resort and especially this hotel because its very difficult to decide where to go next year.Everything you need is on your doorstep. beach, supermarket, restaurants and bars, even walking to the next resort Penera doesnt take long, and its a lovely walk with brilliant views. We were lucky enough to get same room as last year with a bottle of wine in room which was a lovely touch. Great view over the bay which is fantastic. Entertainment for kids is great with Andy and Sarah plus bingo and quiz for adults. The only gripe i have (and only one) is the sunbeds, i think management should but a time limit on when people can put towels down. i got up around 7 am one morn and looked out and beds were taken already (saddos). All in all we had another great holiday and im sure we will be back. Keep up the good work Alex and staff.

Me and my partner got back from cyprus 3 weeks ago. 3rd time to cyprus second time to protaras. Reading the other reviews i think we stayed in a different hotel. This is the noisiest hotel i have ever stayed in. You could here everything from scraping of chairs to people walking or running of footsteps above you and also banging and clattering of water pipes and boiler room. This went on from early hours of the morning to very late at night for 2 whole weeks! This spoilt our holiday.

Didnt think the people were very friendly. The reps never spoke to us once.

Protaras has risen in cost since we were there 2 years ago. Still a nice resort.

We wont be going back to Cyprus and definetly NOT to the Rising Star.
