" Fab location "

Just got back from the Aqua Hotel Icmeler, Turkey.
Impressive foyer. Quick check-in. Room was very spacious, bathroom was a tad on the small side, but adequate. Fantastic views from the balcony,of the small bay surrounded by hillsides. The beach is about 2min walk from your room, thru the gardens and across the promenade. The beach itself is shingle. Beds cost 3TL (unless you are fully inc, then they are free). Beds around the pool are free.
We stayed on a half board plus basis, which meant that local drinks were included with your evening meal.
The food on the whole was adequate and you certainly wouldn't starve, but the 'hot' food was never hot, more luke warm (not good for anyone with stomach problems). The salad bar was excellent, lots of choice here. I'm not a pudding eater but there seemed to be a fair choice, fresh fruit was on offer.
Breakfast was the usual for abroad, eggs however you wanted them cooked, frankfurters, tomatoes, beans etc. Limited choice of cereal.Pancakes etc.
The town is just 5mins down the drive. There is a great choice of bars, lively or quiet whatever you want, restaurants for all tastes, shops, markets etc.
Change the majority of your English money when you get there, their exchange rate is better than ours. We got 2.45TL to the pound there, some of the bars offer good exchange rates and no commission - we found that the rate they say is rate you get.
We had a fantastic night at Dream Boys International Bar,very energetic and enthusiastic show, very entertaining, definitely give this one a try. Sport Inn had friendly staff, quieter atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. Most bars had something going on, you'll be spoilt for choice. I would highly recommend Icmeler and the Aqua Hotel. Its for all ages from the young, to the not so young and the young at heart.
We went on the VIP cruise, it was very relaxing and good for swimmers, but the drinks and ices were a rather expensive. 5TL for ices (usually priced at 1.50 and can of coke 5TL usually 1TL)
I would have rated this a 9 but the food let it down just slightly.

Advice: would definitely go back

Activities: visit Dream Boys International Bar, near the market

" Fantastic!!!!!! "

This was a holiday of a lifetime for us as our daughter was getting married in Icemeler. 17 members of my family stayed at the Aqua Hotel, including the bride and groom. The staff were very nice and helpful, the food was wonderful, plenty of choices for every meal time. The rooms were cleaned and provided with clean sheets and towels every day, soap, shampoo, conditioner, sewing kit,and slippers were provided also, the rooms were fitted out nicely.Thank goodness for the AC. The grounds around the hotel were beautiful, lovely pool area and right on the beach. Good family entertainment at night, and lovely walks along the beach front It was a holiday to remember and I will be going back. Beginning of July was a good time, it got busier and hotter nearer the end of our holiday.

Advice: Lovely place for a holiday

Activities: Boat trips,Water sports and the Steak house.

Good for: Beach

" Aqua review "

We have just returned from the Hotel Aqua in Icmeler. We had a fabulous time. The hotel was really nice - although I would class it as 4 star rather than 5 star. We had a room overlooking the pool which was kept nice and clean. Towels were changed daily and sheets every other day. We stayed on a half board basis and were pleasantly surprised to find that free drinks were available with meals. Also, another nice touch was the free use of the safe - just need to ask for the key in reception. Icmeler itself is a lovely resort, nice for couples and families. It offers plenty to do, and boasts plenty bars and shops. The resort is also good for anyone in a wheelchair. You have Marmaris on a stones throw away, which is well worth a visit and should not be missed. I will definately consider returning to the Hotel Aqua

" Hotel was conveniently situated to... "

Hotel was conveniently situated to town centre, which was just a few minutes stroll away. We found the resort lively enough, however at midnight it does become very quiet. However, if you prefer more night life, hop on a bus to Marmaris which is about 20 minutes away.

Plently of places to eat out, and lots of choice. Even though we were half board we still ate out several times.

Don't be tempted by the "genuine fakes". We bought our daughter a Henley sweatshirt, it has only had one wash and all the colours have run into each other and it has sprung holes everywhere. However, we did purchase some dvd's which have been fine, and if you have children with a Nintendo, the games seem fine. Just make sure you take the console with you when you buy to make sure they are in English.

Had a lovely stay, however, the hotel could do with a little updating. I stayed in a standard room with my husband and 10 year old daughter. The room had plenty of storage space, a free safe, and also a fridge (drinks etc payable). My daughter had a put up bed which was adequate for her, but I don't think it would do for older children. The bathroom was fine, bath, shower etc but it was a bit of a tight squeeze.

The room was cleaned daily, towels were also changed daily. The pool area was nice and relaxing, and George who looks after the sunbeds did a great job. You get towel cards on arrival, therefore it isn't necessary to take your own.

We stayed on a half board plus basis, breakfast had plenty of choice as did the evening meal. The only comment I would make is the lack of organisation in the seating. We went away with another couple and their daughter and found it very difficult to get a table for 6. This wasn't due to the lack of tables, rather that guests were allowed to just sit anywhere, and we found that 2 persons would take up a large table. The hotel would have been better allocating tables.

I used the indoor pool daily, but it wasn't heated as stated in the brochure. The gym was ok, however, the changing and shower areas of the gym could do with a good clean.

We all had the Turkish bath on arrival, which we all found completely relaxing. The staff in the hotel were very polite and happy to help.

We all went on the jeep safari which we booked through No Name Tours, don't be put off by the name, the day out was fantastic. Just make sure you all get a water gun, we hired ours, and be prepared to get wet and dirty.

We also went horse riding, which was about a 4 hour trip in total. Again, we all had a great time.

On the beach just behind the hotel you can have a go on a jet ski, or take a ride in the air, whatever you fancy can be arranged.

The only real downside to the holiday was trying to arrange a courtesy room. We had to vacate our room at noon, but we were not being picked up to go the airport until 1.30am the following morning. When the holiday was booked, we were assured by the travel agent that due to the standard of hotel, good courtesy facilities would be available, but we could not pay to keep our room in advance even though this is also offered in the brochure. We attempted to arrange this on a few ocassions prior to our departure, and also tried our rep, Laura. Eventually, we had to speak to the manager of the hotel, he firstly offered us the use of the shower room in the gym. As I pointed out to him these facilities were not up to scratch, they were not clean, and had little privacy. The shower room doesn't haven't any electrical sockets, so if you want to dry your hair they do have a hairdryer type blower on the wall, but to be truthful, I could blow out hotter air myself!

Eventually, we were told that if we wanted alternative courtesy facilities, we would have to move rooms on the morning of our departure. We took this option which cost appx £30, but we could only keep this room until 6pm due to hotel policy.

On the whole, we had a great holiday in Turkey and were reluctant to leave.

" We have just come back from this... "

We have just come back from this hotel, we stayed all inclusive. The room was cleaned every day and the sheets and towels changed daily. The rooms did provide us with free slippers, but not dressing gowns as stated on their website.

Overall we were very pleased with our holiday, the food was excellent and the location ideal, near enough to Marmaris for some shopping etc and far enough away from the 18-30 clubs. The majority of people staying at the hotel were turkish which says alot, most people were friendly and the staff pleasant and helpful.

The only thing that lets this hotel down is the entertainment in the evening, what can I say it was dire; the team of 'entertainers' showed no imagination, no coordination between themselves and the compere just kept shouting into the microphone. If this hotel could sort out a better evenings entertainment, rather than people just saying put your hands up in the air all the time then I would rate this a 10. I did fill in a questionnaire at the hotel this morning, so hopefully they will take some notice.

" Let me start by saying worth the... "

Let me start by saying worth the wait. I had a fantastic time.
The transfer company were very attentive and helpful; the journey to marmaris from the dalaman airport was quite long due to other stops before us.
On arrival at the hotel my initial reaction was one of un-organisation as the staff were extremely busy because of late check out, so it wasn’t their fault, but then the check in mounted back and we had a two and half hour wait until our room was ready. This gave us time to explore the hotel and quickly catch a bite to eat in our all inclusive stay.
The food was available in mass, salads, bread, drinks, and main dishes freshly cooked in front of you in a self buffet style cooking area.
I personally found the tastes a bit repetitive, but as I am a vegan there was not much choice for me which is normal, apart from salad, However once I explained that I was a vegan to the head chefs they straight way accommodated my needs. Needless to say there was a wide variety to fulfil a meat eater’s taste.
The all inclusive drinks is brilliant, the wine was a bit weak but you could drink as much as you wanted and they have 24 hour night bar, very worth the price I paid for three of us all inclusive. £300 approx each for 9 nights.
The bungalows we stayed in were to me not 5 star but more like a three and a half star but with all of the extras around such as the view and the other services such as food, it was still worth it.
I wish they had a kettle and iron in the hotel room, as in London that is what you expect from 5 star but that’s just my preferences. They did serve hot drinks in the bars all 24/7, but it’s not the same as the comfort of your own room. A friend that I made out there had a room in the hotel which was 5 star in the sense of decor, so a little extra money the luxury and quality of a 5 star is there.
All the staff were top class and worked very hard.
Entertainment team for adults and children were amazing dedicated, friendly, polite even when not totally being able to speak English,
They put on a show every night for children and adults during the day activities were vast, horse riding which I done, swimming with the dolphins, boat trip, water fun such as ringo, I did all of these for very good prices, not all of these run by the hotel, but available within the resort location, from very friendly representatives of other business.
The hotel did offer the spa treatments which were great, but the prices were still like over here, but the staff there also were amazing and accommodating.
For the teenagers or ravers, they was a beach bar that went on until four in the morning which wasn’t that far from my bungalow or the main hotel, also the entertainment team took you out every night if there was enough people on a bus/coach to the main harbour in town to bar street clubs etc, which I enjoyed a few nights out, you have to pay for drinks, but entry and fare on bus there and back was around £8. The entertainment team organised this and looked after you.
The view was amazing from the hotel in all direction and I will definitely be returning.
Everyone was very attentive and made me feel special, with special thanks to all of the team at Grand mares Hotel for looking after me. I made some great life long friends.

" Absolutely wonderful hotel. Gorgeous... "

Absolutely wonderful hotel. Gorgeous gardens with little bridges, bar area with entertainment... No karaoke or bingo.. Just lovely Turkish themes and loung singers etc.

Very classy. Food fantastic, lots of choice, pool great and children's pool very good. Views are fantastic, very friendly. Would definitely return. We found this hotel by chance as had originally booked at the dreaded Juniper.... But that's another story.... After 2 days we moved to this hotel. So glad we did.

" Having read some poor reviews of this... "

Having read some poor reviews of this hotel after booking it, I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived.

The rooms were very clean, air con worked well and maid service was daily without fail.

The food was excellent, so much so, that we did not bother to dine outside the hotel for our evening meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly, particularly the chap looking after the pool and sunbeds.

The drinks at the hotel were more expensive than local shops and bars which was a shame as this seemed to impact on the attendance for the nightly entertainment.

In general, English holidaymakers were quite rare, the main residents being German, Turkish, and Israeli's - all very friendly. The location was also very close to the main part of Icmeler.

Overall, I would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to others.

" This hotel is first class, both for... "

This hotel is first class, both for accommodation and staff.

The pool area is kept spotless plenty of sunbeds, although a little short on parasols, despite the repeated request from the pool staff that more were needed.

The food selection is vast, maybe not to everyone's taste, but you do not expect pie & chips while in Turkey. The sweet section was just wonderful, 12 -14 different ones plus several different ice cream's.

This was my first visit to turkey, as I have always gone to the Greek islands, but I fell in love with it and we are returning this year next month. The views from the outside lifts are great, and if you get a room overlooking the pool the views are breathtaking.

The rooms are spacious, bathrooms a good size and clean fluffy towels every day, and the beds changed 3 times a week has got to be luxury.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a wonderful relaxing time in beautiful surroundings.

" It was the first day of the season,... "

It was the first day of the season, the hotel looked great, nice rooms and service.

Meals could have been to a better standard for that class of hotel. Marmaris was on the cool side with not many shops open. It was great for a bargain for those that were. One visit there was enough for me. The tours which you could pick up along the harbour were great. I took a boat trip around the area and went swimming.

If you find a nice sheltered spot, you can get a sun tan but as the sun goes down, its just like being in England so pack jumpers if your planning on going in April.
