Marietta Aparthotel, Pastida, Rhodes
Hotel Information
Hotel Description:
The village of Pastida, in which the Marietta Apartments are situated, is peaceful and unspoiled but is ideally situated for exploring the island. It is close to the north end of the island around five miles from the capital Rhodes town, and approximately midway between the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, it is also close to the new main road that links the east side of the island to the airport.Nearby Hotels Viewed by Other Travellers
Marietta Aparthotel Reviews
" Fabulous "
Submitted By: kirstijoThe apartment was basic but very clean and tidy. We arrived at 3.30am and were greeted by Michael who showed us to our room and put the air con on for us in the bedroom. Being 3 girls, he also carried our cases upstairs for us.
The food for breakfast was good, lots of choice, and we stayed at the apartments for dinner a few nights too. Also, Greek Night is a MUST for all the family! For a low price you get a starter, main course and entertainment from local Greek dances. A reat night all round.
The pool was very very clean and big enough to accomedate all the guests with ease. There are plenty sun loungers and umbellas around the pool also, incase you get a bit hot! The beach is also a short bus ride away if you fancy a change or the water park in Faliraki is worth a visit.
Marietta Apartments don't just cater for ''the age old regulars'', it has something for everyone, young and old! My party ranged between 21 to 25 and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
If you fancy a night out, Rhodes Town is a short bus ride away (or 15 euros in a taxi, set price, which Marietta will order for you) and is packed with quaint little shops and lovely outdoor seated restaurants and bars. If you fancy staying local, check out Champions bar which is a funky bar with cheap drinks (just around the corner from the Pharmacy in the village)There are also a few fabulous restaurants in the village which serve up traditional Greek food.
If you want a chilled out, relaxing holiday in a quiet little village, Marietta's is certainly for you. The family cannot do enough for you, and will cater for your every need. It really is a place for the young and old, there's certainly alot to do!
Advice: Love Pastida, very quiet and relaxed. Can't wait to go back!

Submitted By: howaythetoon1Cheap accommodation. Fantastic location. Pleasant family run properties, who are there to help and go out of their way to do so.
Not far from beaches.
Taxi return for 3 of us (airport to resort and back a fortnight later) only cost us £40
Great to get to Faliraki (only 8km away) etc.
Kids have so much to do here. Many kids around at this time of year so if you are having a family holiday, it's a great place to take the kids. If you are going for a romantic getaway holiday, then it's a great place to go, peaceful, far enough away from places like Faliraki (noisy) but close enough to get to for good nights out.
Pastida has great places to go also.
Kremasti is the nearest seaside resort, it boasts a stretch of shingle and pebbles with a fine selection of bars. It is a port town and ideal for shoppers.
Marietta Apartments:
Spotless, can't fault it.
Great air con rooms, free sunbeds.
Home cooked food by the family
Great atmosphere
Cooking facilities were perfect for small meals, breakfasts etc.. Not intent on staying in as we like to get out as much as possible, who stays in on their hols? Not us that's for sure!!
Cheap regular buses (1 euro 80) take you in to Rhodes town via the villages on the coast.
Car Hire via the Marietta, only 35 Euros for the day (very cheap)
I have read some bad reviews on different sites across the internet, and I cannot understand why.
This place is perfection, whether you are on a cheap budget, want to experience something different, go for a family holiday (cheaply), enjoy the local hospitalities, explore the island or take the opportunity to go on the catamaran over to Turkey for example, meet some great friends, a great family (who run the Marietta Apartments), basically have a fantastic time, then come here, you will NOT find better for the money.
I'd come here if I had all the money in the world, because it is such a wonderful place. We have already booked to go back next year.
To all those giving bad reviews, just grow up. You've obviously been spoilt your whole life. Well if you have the money, go someplace else, will a 5* hotel do you? I bet it wouldn't would it.
Advice: Cheap, stunning views, not far from Faliraki, great pubs, Marietta Apartments are fantastic
Activities: Faliraki, Lindos, Rhodes Town is a great sightseeing extravaganza (being one of the oldest cities)
Good for: Beach City Breaks

we were aprehensive about going after reading other peoples reviews but we were told by family members that marriettas was good as they had been around 5 times. when we arived we were greeted by micheal and marrietta who was very heavily pregnant at the time they showed us to our apartments. our apartments were very basic but very clean. but you dont spend much time in there so there is no need for the rooms to be fancy. The atmosphere in the place was always good we had our then 2 year old with us who was adored by marrietta. we spent a lot of our time in the pool which again was clean. the cleaner came in and changed towels and bed linen 2-3 times a week always cleaned the balcony and floors we found her to be very pleasent too. there was aircon which had to be paid for although we didn't use it. this family run place is fantastic for people of all ages who want a relaxing holiday although nightlife is only a taxi ride away. we spent a bit of time an gianni's who again couldn't be more friendly we met his wife and she brought sweets in for our son the next night. all in all i would recommend this place to anyone we enjoyed ourselves so much and marietta and her family couldn't do enough for us so don't listen to the bad reviews go and see for your self and i bet you have a great time and meet lots of wonderful people including g string man

Submitted By: Ms C BellAs ever we were warmly welcomed and loved every moment of our stay. All the family are very helpful and friendly.
We met people we'd met before and made new friends too. Not a place for wild parties tho' 2 of the bars in the village seem to stay open 'til the last person leaves, on one occasion 5a.m.!
Buses are reliable, it's possible to hire transport and there is always a taxi if you can't be bothered.
Looking forward to our next visit.
(One of these days I will see the mysterious g-string man, lol!)

Submitted By: Ms L JardineI stayed in the dreaded number 32 apartment and loved the fact that it stayed cool and didnt get overheated by the midday sun. It certainly was not too dark and was perfectly adequate for my self catering needs, having two hotplates, a kettle and a fridge. I didnt go away intending to cook 3 course meals every night! The rooms were cleaned to a high standard every 2 days and the family that run the place were so approachable and friendly that it was a simple matter to ask for anything extra I needed.
The pool area was truly lovely and very relaxing with free sunbeds, umbrellas and inflatables for everyone to use. The snack bar and restaurant was small, friendly and very reasonably priced and was available all day long. There were some lovely extra touches like a cupboard full of books to help yourself to during your stay. I spent some days just relaxing by the pool and walking to the village to sit with a drink outside Giannis watching village life go by. The locals are over and above friendly and the local bakers sold the most amazing chocolate croissants and cheese pasties for lunch!
The local bus service is regular and cheap and takes you into Rhodes town via the west coast villages. I also hired a car for a day via Marietta for 35 euros and spent a wonderful day exploring the south of the island-a highlight of my trip was swimming in a deserted cove in crystal clear warm waters with only fish for company-heaven! I also took the catamaran to Marmaris one day to visit the bazzaar-shopaholic heaven where although some things were overpriced there were still bargains to be had particularly with jewellery and the "genuine fake" clothing! (Stay away from the perfume though unless you want to smell like unleaded petrol)
My return flight was not until midnight and I had to vacate the room by midday but for 20 euros I had the option to keep it on for the day-however I declined this and was nevertheless welcome to use the facilities for the day, including shower to use before leaving for the airport. I met some lovely people and not once did I feel uncomfortable because I was on my own. Marietta and Michael-indeed the whole family-went out of their way to make me feel welcome and to make sure I had everything I needed.
All in all a fabulous holiday which I would thoroughly recommend to families and anyone looking to relax-however if you are looking for a lively holiday this would probably not be for you. So dont be put off by the bad reviews if you have already booked-I loved it and will be returning in the future with my whole family.

Submitted By: Mr N AllanAfter a sleep we woke to discover that the room got very little daylight due the very small window. The only way to get any daylight was to have the front door open. We asked to be moved as the room was inappropriate to be told that there was no more rooms but they would see what they could do the next week. Even our 8 year old grandson named the room the DUNGEON.
After a week we were given another room (14) but there was not much improvement there either. Anytime we were in the room during the day we had to have the lights on, the shower tray was cracked in the middle and resealed with Silicone Sealant and the balcony was overgrown with trees to the point that there was no sunlight on it.
There is nothing in Pastida and a hire car is almost a necessity to get around.
Overall I wouldn't recommend this especially if you have children.

Submitted By: Mrs S SpaldingArrived at 5am pitch dark the only way we found our room was bits off paper taped to the wall with arrows on them along the wall to our room. I would call it a basement or as my 8yr old grandson said the dungeon; it had the smallest window ever 3 single beds in 1 room 1 single bed in other room with dining table kitchen sink.
In the morning we asked to be moved to another room and was told it wouldn’t be for another week, don’t ask for room 31(the dungeon) or you won’t see daylight. 2nd week of holiday we were given room 14, it was that dark and gloomy we just wanted to go home, we even looked at other hotels in Rhodes but prices to high, 2 bunk beds small kitchen table and sink as soon as you walk in door, the toilet was disgusting cracked shower tray all stained, toilet pan seat that would not go up you had to sit on toilet with the lid resting on your back.
The bedroom had double bed that had your balcony door to the balcony and public path 3 feet from your door so you can’t leave your door open for air, and you don’t get any privacy. you had to put the lights on as soon as you woke as it was that dark in the rooms you didn’t know if it was night or day, the trees 3feet from the balcony door didn’t help.
We went to the beach every day and to see friend at Afandou just to get out of the hotel, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you are over 60 70 as they seem to cater for their regulars who go every year and are retired.
Nothing to occupy the children apart from a pool table and the smallest swimming pool ever who the older generation seem to frown upon if they get disturbed. G string man still as ever parading about the pool.

Submitted By: Mr J LaughlanI will definitely be going back. The rooms are basic but clean and bed linen, towels were changed every second day.
The food in the restaurant was well cooked and well presented, drinks were also big measures and cheap.
So all in all a perfect place to holiday in.

Submitted By: Ms C BellThe rooms may be basic but they are always clean and regularly serviced, every other day. If there are any problems, (we had none), they are quickly remedied. Self catering equipment is minimal but sufficient. The pool is adequate and always well maintained by Fotis.
Pastida is a small, inland village which is growing and therefore the facilities are gradually increasing, eg. there is now a rather larger supermarket as well as the original two little corner shops, there is also an Italian restaurant which I was told was rather good. We never quite made it as we are addicted to Debbie's cooking, if there is anything not on the menu that you fancy all efforts are made to provide you with the desired food, in my case octopus! There are several traditional bars in the village as well as one internet cafe called Champions.
Marietta and Michael are in charge of dealing with the customers and do a fine job of making you feel especially welcome although some nights, (or should I say in the pre dawn hours) Michael must be aching to go to bed. It's not the place for loud party making as the hotel is surrounded by local residences; however there are late nights with convivial talk and the supping of alcohol.
Being centrally located in the north of the island it is easy to reach either the east or west coast or Rhodes town by taxi e.g. Rhodes to Pastida 14Euros. Marietta will arrange for taxis upon request. There is a bus to Rhodes which takes you down the west coast past Kremasti and Trianda etc (1.90Euros), it goes round the houses but as it is air- conditioned it is quite a pleasant journey and you get to see one or two other villages en route. (Should you wish to hire a car that too can be done through Marietta).
Marietta's is a fairly quiet venue that is suitable for all: it is a safe and pleasant environment for children. On every visit I have made friends and by the end of the stay there is usually group camaraderie developed.
Well done to the family, they have established and maintained a welcoming and pleasant environment for a laid back holiday: it's wonderful to return to Marietta's after a day in the hustle of Rhodes.

Advice: Pastida is not a tourist area it is a village.
Activities: There are only a couple of places to eat in the village.
