we decided to go to the marrietta after reading its excellent reports on holiday truths.the staff were very friendly,so were the locals.not for 18-30s or stag weekends, but great for couples, singles or older people.ideal for a relaxed holiday.the pool area wasnt too busy, which was nice.ten minutes from the airport.just a short walk into the village,or a bus ride into rhodes, which we did twice.couldnt fault it.

what a wonderfull holiday this was for us and our daughter. Marietta and her family cannot do enough for you , it was perfect, the food was wonderfull and the apartments themselves were very clean and comfortable. The complex was not too small but not massive either a perfect size to get to know the other guests there. Thanks so much to Marietta and her family for making our holiday so good . see you next year.

  • Advice: local transport available to surrounding areas, but a car may be easier, the village itself was stunning.

The accomodation is clean but basic and the staff are friendly and helpfull. The pool was excellent. We like to eat out in the evenings so cannot really comment on the food. The hotel is well situated, being 7 minutes by car from the airport and close to the best beaches on
the west side of the Island. I was surprised by the amount of traffic on the road outside the hotel-you are aware of it early in the morning.
The village square is only a few minutes walk away and is a hub of activity, especially in the evening when the local men sit outside their favourite bars, putting the world to rights. There are about 7 restuarants in the village. We went to 3 of them, but mainly the Skalkia and the one across from it-both in the square. They are
very good and reasonably priced. So if you don't wish to hire a car everything is on the doorstep. A very good holiday!

Just returned from the Marietta cannot recommend it enough! The hotel is spotlessly clean, has spacious rooms, fabulous home cooked food, lovely pool and best of all wonderfull, helpful friendly staff who cannot do enough for you. Our room had a very large balcony loads of wardrobe/storage space, a fridge, 2 ring hotplate & basic kitchen equip which we never used at all as the prices were fine and we ate out. The fridge was big enough for water, snacks etc. Air con was available at 45 euro's a week & was a must in the heat, safes were in the room at 10 euro's a week, the room was cleaned, towels & beds changed 3 times during our weeks stay. The room was basic but clean & spacious ideal for sleeping in. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel. Marietta herself could not help you enough and told us about the all the local attractions, customs etc knew all the prices where to get buses and taxi's etc never stayed at such a friendly hotel can totally understand
why people return year after year.

My family and I(husband and 2 girls aged 12 and 13) stayed at the Marietta last August(2009)for 2 weeks. We had a fabulous holiday! The apartment wasn't huge but adequate, very clean and we had hot showers every day. The cooking facilities were not great but as we never cook on holiday this wasn't a problem; managed to cook bacon sandwiches for breakfast some mornings though! Most nights we ate at the Marietta and the food was superb, even for my two girls who are two of the fussiest eaters ever! The owners, Marietta and Michael were the loveliest people, they made everyone feel welcome and were so friendly. We hired a car for 6 days which is advisable if possible if you're going for longer than a week because, although there are buses, the beaches are not that nearby. There is a small village 5-10 minutes walk down the road which has a couple of super/mini markets and a few restaurants. The Marietta Apartments were extremely good value for money and we spent at least half of our two week holiday just lazing around the pool relaxing, which was great! I would definitely return to the Marietta if I was looking for a low cost, relaxing holiday in the sun with lovely friendly people.

Booked a two bedroom apartment from 29/7/09 for two weeks for a family of four. It turned out to have one bedroom and two bunk beds squashed into the kitchen, for which there were no clothes storage facilities whatsoever. This was supposed to be an apartment for up to five people. To say it was supposed to be for people to self-cater, the fridge was tiny and it wouldn't even freeze an ice lolly. You could only fit in a couple of large bottles of water and it was full. Any food bought went rotten overnight. There was only one pan to cook with. There was no toaster. The only plus was a kettle. We had to eat every meal out because we couldn't store food. After two weeks, we still could not turn the cooker off after turning it on, and had to unplug it from under a cupboard to turn it off. Whether there were two people or five people in the apartment, toilet rolls were restricted to only 3 per week. The safe was also tiny, about the size of a purse so you couldn't fit in any other valuables such as camera, phone etc. If you wanted air conditioning it was a rip-off at 45 euros per week. Before I went I asked how much it would be to have a fifth person in the apartment and they wanted as much for the fifth person as it cost to rent a completely separate studio so I rented a separate studio instead - talk about greed!! I go on holiday up to six times a year and have been to the Greek islands many times, but this is the worse apartment I have had and would definitely not go again. I would also add that they are in a village in the middle of nowhere so you definitely need a car and even then, the other tourist centres are quite a way off.

  • Activities: There are only a couple of places to eat in the village.

I have recently had a week away at Marietta's and I've got to say, it was brillient This was my secod time there, and the whole holiday was perfect.
The apartment was basic but very clean and tidy. We arrived at 3.30am and were greeted by Michael who showed us to our room and put the air con on for us in the bedroom. Being 3 girls, he also carried our cases upstairs for us.
The food for breakfast was good, lots of choice, and we stayed at the apartments for dinner a few nights too. Also, Greek Night is a MUST for all the family! For a low price you get a starter, main course and entertainment from local Greek dances. A reat night all round.
The pool was very very clean and big enough to accomedate all the guests with ease. There are plenty sun loungers and umbellas around the pool also, incase you get a bit hot! The beach is also a short bus ride away if you fancy a change or the water park in Faliraki is worth a visit.
Marietta Apartments don't just cater for ''the age old regulars'', it has something for everyone, young and old! My party ranged between 21 to 25 and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
If you fancy a night out, Rhodes Town is a short bus ride away (or 15 euros in a taxi, set price, which Marietta will order for you) and is packed with quaint little shops and lovely outdoor seated restaurants and bars. If you fancy staying local, check out Champions bar which is a funky bar with cheap drinks (just around the corner from the Pharmacy in the village)There are also a few fabulous restaurants in the village which serve up traditional Greek food.
If you want a chilled out, relaxing holiday in a quiet little village, Marietta's is certainly for you. The family cannot do enough for you, and will cater for your every need. It really is a place for the young and old, there's certainly alot to do!

  • Advice: Love Pastida, very quiet and relaxed. Can't wait to go back!

Having just returned from the Marietta Aparthotel with my friends I thought I must congratulate the whole Michalakis family on running a genuinely great and value for money hotel. The family are so lovely and cannot do enough for you. The food is all home cooked and home grown! Olives from their trees, eggs from their chickens etc and is delicious. It was inexpensive compared to eating out in other areas. The accomodation is adequate and extremely clean. Marietta is an absolute darling and works like a trojan from morning til night always with a smile. We all felt like part of the family and didnt want to go home. I have stayed in some very expensive places but this hotel shows you do not need to spend a fortune to get good value and service with a smile.

Couldn't have asked for much better. 3*, i'd give it 4*
Cheap accommodation. Fantastic location. Pleasant family run properties, who are there to help and go out of their way to do so.
Not far from beaches.
Taxi return for 3 of us (airport to resort and back a fortnight later) only cost us £40
Great to get to Faliraki (only 8km away) etc.
Kids have so much to do here. Many kids around at this time of year so if you are having a family holiday, it's a great place to take the kids. If you are going for a romantic getaway holiday, then it's a great place to go, peaceful, far enough away from places like Faliraki (noisy) but close enough to get to for good nights out.
Pastida has great places to go also.
Kremasti is the nearest seaside resort, it boasts a stretch of shingle and pebbles with a fine selection of bars. It is a port town and ideal for shoppers.
Marietta Apartments:
Spotless, can't fault it.
Great air con rooms, free sunbeds.
Home cooked food by the family
Great atmosphere
Cooking facilities were perfect for small meals, breakfasts etc.. Not intent on staying in as we like to get out as much as possible, who stays in on their hols? Not us that's for sure!!
Cheap regular buses (1 euro 80) take you in to Rhodes town via the villages on the coast.
Car Hire via the Marietta, only 35 Euros for the day (very cheap)
I have read some bad reviews on different sites across the internet, and I cannot understand why.
This place is perfection, whether you are on a cheap budget, want to experience something different, go for a family holiday (cheaply), enjoy the local hospitalities, explore the island or take the opportunity to go on the catamaran over to Turkey for example, meet some great friends, a great family (who run the Marietta Apartments), basically have a fantastic time, then come here, you will NOT find better for the money.
I'd come here if I had all the money in the world, because it is such a wonderful place. We have already booked to go back next year.
To all those giving bad reviews, just grow up. You've obviously been spoilt your whole life. Well if you have the money, go someplace else, will a 5* hotel do you? I bet it wouldn't would it.

  • Advice: Cheap, stunning views, not far from Faliraki, great pubs, Marietta Apartments are fantastic
  • Activities: Faliraki, Lindos, Rhodes Town is a great sightseeing extravaganza (being one of the oldest cities)
  • Good For: Beach
  • Good For: City Breaks
  • Board Basis:Self Catering

My husband and myself stayed here for...

My husband and myself stayed here for a week just to relax and enjoy the sun, which in all fairness we did. The apartment was fine but we had to pay £35 for the air con which was in the kitchen area and not in the bedroom where we would have like it to be, and it was not on all the time as when the key was turned off on the electric to lock the door going out, the air con was off all day, until your return. People were friendly and the guests made the holiday for us. Unfortunately we were half board and on hindsight, we should have gone self catering as there was lack of choice and lack of fish or non meat dishes for me as I don't eat meat. We thought that h/b would include cereal, cooked and toast, but not so. My husband had a cheese omlette with 2 pieces of toast each day and I had cornflakes or scrambled egg on toast. The evening meal was very disappointing, as we were only allowed to chose from the specials menu, No starters or sweet were included, also No coffee. We were always left feeling hungry. Definately DO NOT go there on h/b basis when the food in the village restaurants is much nicer, cheaper and larger portions. We would not go back to these apartments, but Rhodes was lovely as was the weather.
