Like last year my 15yr old son and I finished our holiday in Greece with 2 weeks in Marietta's. (This was our 7th. visit in 10 years). We wouldn't want it any other way. More changes both at the apartments and in the village but all to the good - tho' the village is beginning to get more "modern".
As ever we were warmly welcomed and loved every moment of our stay. All the family are very helpful and friendly.
We met people we'd met before and made new friends too. Not a place for wild parties tho' 2 of the bars in the village seem to stay open 'til the last person leaves, on one occasion 5a.m.!
Buses are reliable, it's possible to hire transport and there is always a taxi if you can't be bothered.
Looking forward to our next visit.
(One of these days I will see the mysterious g-string man, lol!)

I have just returned from a week at the Marietta apartments in Pastida having booked it just the week before. I was very apprehensive having read the poor reviews on here after I had booked, particularly as I was travelling alone for the first time. Well all I can say now is that some people must have impossibly high standards which could never have been met in a village appartment-frankly I cannot understand why they didn't book a 4 star hotel instead!
I stayed in the dreaded number 32 apartment and loved the fact that it stayed cool and didnt get overheated by the midday sun. It certainly was not too dark and was perfectly adequate for my self catering needs, having two hotplates, a kettle and a fridge. I didnt go away intending to cook 3 course meals every night! The rooms were cleaned to a high standard every 2 days and the family that run the place were so approachable and friendly that it was a simple matter to ask for anything extra I needed.
The pool area was truly lovely and very relaxing with free sunbeds, umbrellas and inflatables for everyone to use. The snack bar and restaurant was small, friendly and very reasonably priced and was available all day long. There were some lovely extra touches like a cupboard full of books to help yourself to during your stay. I spent some days just relaxing by the pool and walking to the village to sit with a drink outside Giannis watching village life go by. The locals are over and above friendly and the local bakers sold the most amazing chocolate croissants and cheese pasties for lunch!
The local bus service is regular and cheap and takes you into Rhodes town via the west coast villages. I also hired a car for a day via Marietta for 35 euros and spent a wonderful day exploring the south of the island-a highlight of my trip was swimming in a deserted cove in crystal clear warm waters with only fish for company-heaven! I also took the catamaran to Marmaris one day to visit the bazzaar-shopaholic heaven where although some things were overpriced there were still bargains to be had particularly with jewellery and the "genuine fake" clothing! (Stay away from the perfume though unless you want to smell like unleaded petrol)
My return flight was not until midnight and I had to vacate the room by midday but for 20 euros I had the option to keep it on for the day-however I declined this and was nevertheless welcome to use the facilities for the day, including shower to use before leaving for the airport. I met some lovely people and not once did I feel uncomfortable because I was on my own. Marietta and Michael-indeed the whole family-went out of their way to make me feel welcome and to make sure I had everything I needed.
All in all a fabulous holiday which I would thoroughly recommend to families and anyone looking to relax-however if you are looking for a lively holiday this would probably not be for you. So dont be put off by the bad reviews if you have already booked-I loved it and will be returning in the future with my whole family.

After arriving at the Marietta at 5:30 am there was no one to meet us, only A4 bits of paper stuck to the walls all round the pool with our name and arrows pointing the direction to room 31.
After a sleep we woke to discover that the room got very little daylight due the very small window. The only way to get any daylight was to have the front door open. We asked to be moved as the room was inappropriate to be told that there was no more rooms but they would see what they could do the next week. Even our 8 year old grandson named the room the DUNGEON.
After a week we were given another room (14) but there was not much improvement there either. Anytime we were in the room during the day we had to have the lights on, the shower tray was cracked in the middle and resealed with Silicone Sealant and the balcony was overgrown with trees to the point that there was no sunlight on it.
There is nothing in Pastida and a hire car is almost a necessity to get around.
Overall I wouldn't recommend this especially if you have children.

Stayed at Marietta apts 2 weeks. Very disappointed with standard of accommodation.
Arrived at 5am pitch dark the only way we found our room was bits off paper taped to the wall with arrows on them along the wall to our room. I would call it a basement or as my 8yr old grandson said the dungeon; it had the smallest window ever 3 single beds in 1 room 1 single bed in other room with dining table kitchen sink.
In the morning we asked to be moved to another room and was told it wouldn’t be for another week, don’t ask for room 31(the dungeon) or you won’t see daylight. 2nd week of holiday we were given room 14, it was that dark and gloomy we just wanted to go home, we even looked at other hotels in Rhodes but prices to high, 2 bunk beds small kitchen table and sink as soon as you walk in door, the toilet was disgusting cracked shower tray all stained, toilet pan seat that would not go up you had to sit on toilet with the lid resting on your back.
The bedroom had double bed that had your balcony door to the balcony and public path 3 feet from your door so you can’t leave your door open for air, and you don’t get any privacy. you had to put the lights on as soon as you woke as it was that dark in the rooms you didn’t know if it was night or day, the trees 3feet from the balcony door didn’t help.
We went to the beach every day and to see friend at Afandou just to get out of the hotel, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you are over 60 70 as they seem to cater for their regulars who go every year and are retired.
Nothing to occupy the children apart from a pool table and the smallest swimming pool ever who the older generation seem to frown upon if they get disturbed. G string man still as ever parading about the pool.

Just come back from a wonderful holiday in the Marietta apartments. It was just perfect. The family and staff couldn’t do enough for you, nothing was a bother for them and we met and made some lovely friends.
I will definitely be going back. The rooms are basic but clean and bed linen, towels were changed every second day.
The food in the restaurant was well cooked and well presented, drinks were also big measures and cheap.
So all in all a perfect place to holiday in.

This was our 6th visit to Marietta's, although the first in the last 4 years. As ever there had been structural changes to improve the site, e.g. new bar area. My son and I were thrilled to return.
The rooms may be basic but they are always clean and regularly serviced, every other day. If there are any problems, (we had none), they are quickly remedied. Self catering equipment is minimal but sufficient. The pool is adequate and always well maintained by Fotis.
Pastida is a small, inland village which is growing and therefore the facilities are gradually increasing, eg. there is now a rather larger supermarket as well as the original two little corner shops, there is also an Italian restaurant which I was told was rather good. We never quite made it as we are addicted to Debbie's cooking, if there is anything not on the menu that you fancy all efforts are made to provide you with the desired food, in my case octopus! There are several traditional bars in the village as well as one internet cafe called Champions.
Marietta and Michael are in charge of dealing with the customers and do a fine job of making you feel especially welcome although some nights, (or should I say in the pre dawn hours) Michael must be aching to go to bed. It's not the place for loud party making as the hotel is surrounded by local residences; however there are late nights with convivial talk and the supping of alcohol.
Being centrally located in the north of the island it is easy to reach either the east or west coast or Rhodes town by taxi e.g. Rhodes to Pastida 14Euros. Marietta will arrange for taxis upon request. There is a bus to Rhodes which takes you down the west coast past Kremasti and Trianda etc (1.90Euros), it goes round the houses but as it is air- conditioned it is quite a pleasant journey and you get to see one or two other villages en route. (Should you wish to hire a car that too can be done through Marietta).
Marietta's is a fairly quiet venue that is suitable for all: it is a safe and pleasant environment for children. On every visit I have made friends and by the end of the stay there is usually group camaraderie developed.
Well done to the family, they have established and maintained a welcoming and pleasant environment for a laid back holiday: it's wonderful to return to Marietta's after a day in the hustle of Rhodes.

The room at Marietta Apartments was quite small and pretty basic, it was clean but there was the occasional cockroach, but if you let the staff know they will come to your room and spray the areas where they are.
The pool is quite small but clean. The drinks are very reasonably priced and of course you get nice large European measures. We only ate here once but what we had was very nice. Marietta and Michael were very friendly and helpful.
Lookout for regular visitor Mr G- String especially in June. We hired a car which was good as you can see all other parts of the island. Lindos town is very pretty. Pastida is quite a small quiet town, but other livelier places aren't far.
Faliraki was a nice chilled out place, we were expecting it to be people throwing up in the street, lads fighting and girls getting their baps out, but when we went it wasn't like this at all, and was a lot quieter than we expected, we recommend the Jamaica Bar (cocktails).
Golden Sands beach(Agaitha or something like that) was very beautiful and not too crowded with pasty brits, this beach is off the main road from Faliraki to Lindos.
Faliraki Water Park was really good. Go on the kamikaze slide. Rhodes is really beautiful and would definitely go back.
If you like Chinese food, go to Golden Fish just outside Rhodes Town.

This was one of the best holidays my wife Eileen and I have had in many years.
The Staff where so helpful there was nothing they would not do at any time of the day and night.
The room was spotless, the beds where great, the Food was perfect in taste and presentation.
The beer was good the wine was better.
Anything you wanted, the staff would organise for you at know cost to you. They will order a taxi at know cost.
Mum does all the cooking
Michael looks after the running of the Hotel and Marietta looks after the customers and Papa he looks after everybody tourist or Greek.
Lovely place and lovely people.
Marietta and a peace of heaven on earth layback and Enjoy, I will be back!

Have been going here for years. Child friendly. Lovely food. Basic apartments, but how much time do you spend in them?
Very Very clean. Very friendly owners who cannot do enough to make your stay great, and who welcome many people back year after year.
Quiet, but centrally placed for a short taxi ride to more lively spots if that’s your fancy.
Don't go here if you want wall to wall drunks, noisy parties, overpriced and bad food, late nights and tourist shops.
My children love it and cry every time we come home. They always make friends, and the whole complex is safe for them.
It is not luxurious, but it’s other characteristics more than make up for that.

A last minute decision to take a week's break landed us in Pastida at Marietta's. I agree with one other reviewer that some of the rooms are very basic-but who wants to cook food when the hotel, as well as local bars and restaurants do it better and comparatively inexpensively? My friend's bed was pretty uncomfortable but Michael provided some blankets for padding and I bet they renew the mattresses before next summer!
Michael and Marietta could not have been more lovely to every guest, and as a sidebar, if there are any beautiful girls of Greek origin looking for a lovely man - Michael is currently unattached.
The food they provide is good, the drink [at 2 euros a big measure] is very affordable. The sun loungers and the pool kept scrupulously clean by Marietta's papa and the rooms are also scrupulously cleaned and linen renewed by a squad of lovely efficient people.
The guests were a mix of couples families and friends, and everyone was pretty chilled out-you could always find someone to chat to but you could also have a good amount of personal space.
Make sure you take a good mosquito/other biting beasties deterrent as sundown is a voracious time and you are not the only one with an appetite!

ABSOLUTLY FANTASIC
we were aprehensive about going after reading other peoples reviews but we were told by family members that marriettas was good as they had been around 5 times. when we arived we were greeted by micheal and marrietta who was very heavily pregnant at the time they showed us to our apartments. our apartments were very basic but very clean. but you dont spend much time in there so there is no need for the rooms to be fancy. The atmosphere in the place was always good we had our then 2 year old with us who was adored by marrietta. we spent a lot of our time in the pool which again was clean. the cleaner came in and changed towels and bed linen 2-3 times a week always cleaned the balcony and floors we found her to be very pleasent too. there was aircon which had to be paid for although we didn't use it. this family run place is fantastic for people of all ages who want a relaxing holiday although nightlife is only a taxi ride away. we spent a bit of time an gianni's who again couldn't be more friendly we met his wife and she brought sweets in for our son the next night. all in all i would recommend this place to anyone we enjoyed ourselves so much and marietta and her family couldn't do enough for us so don't listen to the bad reviews go and see for your self and i bet you have a great time and meet lots of wonderful people including g string man
