hi there me and my family stayed at the ozukara 1 apt this july/august ,i have been holidaying in turkey for 12 years now and stayed in alot of places but i have to say ozukara was very basic the most basic i have ever stayed in , but wasn't a big massive problem as for only 2 weeks out of my life i stayed there . There were mixed ages in our group ranging from 56 to the age of 3 my parents found it very hard to sleep as the ozukara is right at the top of bar street and the music was played until 4.30am they eventually changed rooms were it was much quieter , the young children were not bothered by the music nor was myself or my friend , zak at the bar was nice and friendly but felt hassled from the ozukara restaurant to eat there every night we ate there once !as gumbet has many bars and restaurants to offer we did have a really good holiday and will be returning back to gumbet next year

  • Holiday Date:Aug 2011
  • Advice: expect very basic but if your young and want to party then fab location

We have just spent 3 weeks at the ozukara 1 apartments. We won't be going back. Although the apartments are spacious and we did have the only one with a pool view it was not cleaned during the 3 weeks other than to empty the bins and change the towels, these were clean but grey and hard and the sheets although changed regularly were often torn and ill fitting, by the end of the 3 weeks the bathroom was disgusting!! The pool area was dirty and again not cleaned and if the barman took a dislike to you you knew it. If what you are looking for is cheap and near the bars etc this could be for you.

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday in Gumbet, staying in the Oukara 2 apartments, the apartment was clean and adequate for our needs, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the pool was lovely, the hills were negotiable, (well we found an easy route where we could avoid the well known Cardiac Hill). Gumbet was very friendly and the beach beautiful, so all in all we have nothing to complain about, however, THE MANAGER of the apartments was a totally different story..... I have been to Turkey 4 times now and never before have I come across any one so rude, in fact considering his position, I have never come across a more ignorant, cross ackward individual ever. If he could make some thing difficult he would.
For example: a group of young lads and dads were watching football, the majority English, when in wallked the 'control freak' who turned off the English commentary and put it on in Turkish, which even the german visitors complained about.
How the staff stayed so cheerful and full of life is beyond me, but one did notice the change in them when he walked into the room.
The rest of the staff I would just like to say a very big thank you for a fabulous holiday..

I returned to Gumbet in June (this being my 14th time there) had a fantastic holiday as usual but no thanks to Ozukara, this was terrible. On arrival i was asked for £20 deposit, fair enough, also offered air conditioning at £35 per week (a months electric bill in Gumbet wouldn't cost anywhere near that - robbery) however, due to the heat i decided to take this for 1 week until i could get a fan from my friend who lives out there. On my last night i received a telephone call from reception asking if they could come to my apartment as i had my air conditioning on, they came in, climbed all over my bed, and accused me of using air conditioning, after a slightly heated arguement, they left. When i checked out next morning i was told they were keeping my deposit to pay for air conditioning i had usaed they told me i had got a key cut for the unit!! After a lengthy discussion and my request for them to get the police my deposit was returned!! The attitude of staff is shocking housekeeping amounts to bins being emptied daily and clean sheets and towels left twice weekly, it is also an idea to check your bar bill as often there are many extras added. Obviously i wouildn't go back but don't have a choice as i was told my god would no i was a liar and i was blacklisted from hotel, the guy at reception also told me he would have me banned from all accomodation in Gumbet!! My recommendation STAY AWAY

just an addemdum to my report, i forgot to mention bodrum airport and what an eyeopener that was, this was our second outward bound visit to the thinly disguised bandit they call the departure lounge which consists of two duty free shops amd a hot food outlet that could teach dick turpin a few tricks, namely 14 ytl for a single efes beer and 12 euros for a burger chips and soft drink and 5 euros for a standard can of coke. the afore mentioned so called food being just about edible what a total rip off and as your stuck with no other alternative you just have to [if youll pardon the pun] swallow it.

had a great holiday overall, just to give you some good and bad points, firstly the good, you cant fault the weather clear blue skies everday 35.. 40 degrees people are freindly, the sea is warm and clear, scenery fantastic.the food is very good in most of the resturants and not bad value, beach front being the the most pleasant ones to sit in.and now the bad pionts, beer and spirit prices vary bigtime in one bar 16ytl for two pints[mr.frogs] and another 6ytl for vodka coke and apint so shop around we stayed at the ozukara which was ok if you dont want to go to bed till after 4.30 which is roughly when the noise from the surrounding bars starts to ease up,we also was asked for 20 pound deposit 10 pound safebox 35 pound aircon as soon as we checked in when your on a tight budget is a bit of a blow.we found that generally turkey is catching up with the rest of europe and taking as much of your hard earned cash as they can.we are not skinflints but we do expect value for money which is slowly leaving turkey..will be looking for somewhere new to try next year as we have now been to turkey 5 times and the novelty has worn off..........

Went to Ozukara this year for 2 weeks (Aug 07) and had the best holiday ever. If I could I would give it an 11. The staff were really nice especially Zak who works at the pool bar. We had a lovely apartment with great views of the pool and these apartments are in a great location. I had no complaints. Can't wait to go again next year.

This was our 6th visit to Gumbet over the past 7 years; we stayed at the Ozukara 11 apartments which are really lovely apart from the numerous steps throughout the complex. Our last in Turkey as well, after the constant hassle for 14 nights in the resort centre.
We had a group of lads in the next door apartment that came in at 3am (very noisily) waking my daughters and 3 year old grandson practically every night. The security did nothing to stop this nightly racket even after many requests from guests. I got this acknowledgement from one of the bar staff. (how rude is that!) But get this, we couldn’t have the music on around the pool area mid morning because they were all still in bed, and because they didn’t pay for air-con had the windows and doors open and complained the music was keeping them awake!
My family prefers to relax around the pool rather than the beach and so always ate lunch there every day. We spent somewhere in the region of £375 on food and drink throughout the stay. We were approached by a member of staff asking why we didn’t also eat there at night; we explained we wanted a change of scenery and a walk into the resort. The reply was that we should eat there and then go into the resort centre later in the night. Then we were asked the same again! I know all businesses want your money but I felt pressured. After spending all that money we were not allowed any juice we had bought at the supermarket around the pool area. We had to pay 3 times more from the bar.
The Aloha restaurant was fantastic; first drink free and great menu and also the no name gift shop near the Red Dragon. The LMT Bar is brilliant, (Nicky the DJ is a great lad) The all inclusive boat trip is a rip off, don’t pay £14, pay £8 and take a big bottle of coke £1/ 3 TL. Unless you are drinking alcohol, then it’s a good deal. Love Turkey but the hassle this year was unbelievable. My relaxing holiday could have been better if you could walk down the street without the constant hassle.

Fantastic holiday - We have just had two weeks of bliss at the Ozukara Apartments.
The restaurant is fantastic and is the best food we ate the whole time. Richard, Met and Kerim couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable.
There was one night we had a truly awful meal at the restaurant opposite and so we went into the Ozukara restaurant and they have us free garlic bread and cheese!
Nice walk down to the beach (uphill on way back though!). Zak, the pool bar barman was brilliant and anticipated our need for a cold beer after a hard day on the beach.
The only drawback was when we arrived, we had to pay £65 for the air con (which our tour company told us was included), £20 room deposit and £20 for the safe - luckily we had enough sterling on us but that wasn't expected at all!
Overall it was a brilliant holiday and I would definitely go back.
