The majority of guests in October appeared to be of a mature age, so no riotous behaviour. Most staff pretty friendly. Good swimming pool facilities to suit everyone. Beds very hard in our opinion but may suit others. Bus stops outside hotel for short trip into Larnaca CY... more

Poor hotel....
from serena2007
Hi there, Just stayed at this hotel for a week, 3 star not 4 star as advertised. Ideal for families, couples and singletons/friends. Food is average, not much variety for vegetarians ... suggest you eat outside, hotel close to supermarkets and restaurants. Not enough sunbeds ... had to get up extra early to reserve one. Room decor poor, needs updating. Room safety box usage is charged on a daily basis plus there is no key hole security so you can't see the person who is knocking on your door ! City centre 10mins away, shops closed between 1-4pm. Hotel staff very friendly...
A relaxing time at the Sandy Beach Hotel, Larnica, Cyprus
from deano323
We got back yesterday from a weeks stay at the Sandy Beech Hotel which is situated about 15 minutes taxi ride from Larnica. The hotel has wonderful gardens surrounding the pool where guests can relax on sun loungers but we spent most of our time on their private beach which is secluded and affords great swimming and watersports activities. Breakfast was held in the Sea Breeze Cafe which is buffet style in which you can either sit inside or outside under a sheltered bamboo awning. At 7.30am at this time of year it was hot (30-35deg. C but not humid) so sitting outside was the best option. The staff were efficient and attentive. Lunch was again in the Sea Beeze Cafe and consisted of hot and cold buffet which was perfectly ok. Dinner was in the resturant and again was buffet hot and cold food although you could go al la carte if you wanted to. The 'Village bar' has a large patio and bar area which was where every one congregated for drinks before dinner and to watch the evening entertainment which consisted of a solo artist doing caberet type songs; brilliant fun to watch with the greek accent. The waitresses here were attentive and looked after us well. Alot of the Clients were Russian, German and eastern European which wasn't a problem as they were quiet and just wanted a relaxing time just like us. We went 'All inclusive' as we just wanted to chill on the beach and just relax around the hotel so this was perfect best option. The hotel is a favourite place for Greek / Cypriot weddings which we were lucky to see two. Great affairs with up to 7000 people filing in to pay their respects to the Bride and Groom. Now the bad points: The beds were very very hard so we got up early to go and relax on the sun loungers. Parts of the hotel needed decoration so were not pristen but i have to say that the maid service was excellent in your room and every morning they were cleaning the pool, garden area and beach. My main gripe was to do with a group of young British public school Rugger types that were loud and aggrevating and were staying at the hotel for a wedding. As predicted, when they came back from their wedding at 4am on Sunday morning (The wedding was thankfully held elsewhere) they decided to jump in the pool fully clothed screaming and shouting and completely making utter fools of themselves and of being British. If that's what comes out of our public school system then God help us. This obviously has nothing to do with the hotel it was just our bad luck. If you want a relaxing holiday to catch some late summer sun as we did then i would recommend this hotel.

A decent three star - no more
from BettingData.co.uk
In a stunning location with equally amazing pools just on the edge of Pyla beach. I did not find the menu's appealing and so did not eat at the hotel at all. The reception staff were polite and friendly. This is in my opinion a decent 3 star but no more than that. The air conditioning was so weak and ineffective that I spent most nights uncomfortably hot. The rooms are small and badly in need of a refit. Not somewhere I would rush back to

We have just returned from this hotel on the 26th Aug 2007 and personally would not return to it. As a faily of 2 adults and 2 children we found the rooms very crapmed - 2 single beds and a bunk bed for the children. The bunk bed was placed right over the balcony doors so we had to squash behind it to get onto the balcony. There are no drink making facilities in the room and we were not given a key for the mini bar after asking for one several times. The tv was broken and again we asked for this to be replaced and it was not. The rooms itself was very basic and could have done with a repaint and some sealant round the bathtub. The hotel grounds were though very nice. There are two swimming pools outside - one for laps and the other more of a play pool. There was also a small childrens pool. the outside lead directly onto the beach which was perfect. The rocky alcove msde it very shallow and warm ideal for children. Plenty of watersports available and the man onhis bike brings fresh fruit/ice-cream/doughnuts direct to your sunbed. The interior of the hotel is stunning with all its marble and soft furnishings, there is a basic shop (more of a gift shop) where you can buy daily papers & crisps etc. The restaurant is formal dress only and men must wear long trousers and females must be suitably dressed - the food i cannot comment on as we only had shorts with us and therefore not allowed in. The breakfast room is not air conditioned and the food is good but basic offering both englsih and continental servings. The hotel itself is located not in Larnaca but approx 15km (15min) drive from the town. There is 1 bar/2 restaurants and a shop opposite but nothing else. Aya Napa is approx 35km away (25min) which is fantastic. Overall if you are looking to nothing else but laze by the pool and swin in the sea then this hotel would be perfect. If you are travelling as a family then the hotel is ok but i would recomment hiring a car as there is nothing to do of an evening locally. I personally would not stay at this hotel again and would not rate it as a 5* but i travelled with a young family (the children are 4 & 6) and they preferred the aya napa resort.

A friend of mine and myself decided to go to cyprus for a short break,we really did not no wat to expect, we stayed for a week, and to be honest i have stayed in many hotels but this one really did take out breath away, the location was out of this world,(It was like MTV Cribs) the hotel has 2 large swimming pools and off them it leads you to the beach wich then looks on to the medeterianan sea.the view you get from your balcony is amazing and there are alot of water sport activities, i noticed that this hotel does mainly cater for couples and families whom are very plesant, the hotel itsself was nice, rooms come fully airconditioned and at a good size, there are many lifts within this hotel and the food seved is 8/10, We really didnt complain and wished that we had stayed longer, this resort is about 25mins away from agia napa and a taxi could cost you up2 £15-£20,there is so much to see and the beaches in agia napa are amazing, golden sands and clear blue sea,i recommend the fig tree beach , once again the staff are very friendly and helpful, i really do not have a bad word to say about this hotel, you really have to be there to understand my excitement, just type in sandy beach hotel on google and click on images and you will get a little feel of what im talking about, any other questions do not hesitate to contact me on akassijaz@hotmail.com
Beautiful, we could get used to this!

We landed here by default! Our holiday was at Golden Arches, Limmasol but they offered us 4 nights here at no extra charge so we thought why not! This hotel is right on the beach with all the water sports you could wish for. The decor was gorgeous. The pools were just beautiful. The whole hotel gives a relaxed air! We felt a wee bit out of our depth as you had to dress for dinner (no shorts) but the food was delicious and the puddings were to die for. We took the bus into the centre of Larnaca, and took another to Ayia Napa (daytime recommened). We found it very easy to get away from the hotel, the bus stopped right outside. There was also a karaoke bar across the road and a 10-pin bowling alley close by so your not confined to the hotel. Only problem - we had a power cut which lasted about 2 hours but it wasnt the hotels fault.

I stayed in this hotel for 6 nights due to business appointments in the area. This hotel caters mainly to UK and German pensioners and most people are on a full board basis (they have to wear yellow bracelets at all times to indicate they are on full board!). The pool area is very nice, beautiful swimming pools; however, they are not heated so you do not wish to stay in the water for too long. The outside temperature was 30C and that helped a little. The rooms are in need of redecoration, the dark wood and dirty carpet in the rooms and corridors are not very pleasing. The hotel staff is efficient, but have not learned how to smile, perhaps it is the hard life in the sunshine. This is not necessarily the issue only in the hotel, it seems to be the standard in Cyprus. The worst part of the hotel is the food, especially the buffet. You usually get pasta, rice and beans and then some fatty chicken, lamb or dry fish. The atmosphere in the dining room is oppressive and the horrible food does not help. They only serve local wines from Cyprus which are almost undrinkable. I asked the waiter for an imported red wine, but was told it was too expensive for me and I should not order it. (It cost about 30CYP a bottle). The service in the restaurant is almost non-existent, sometimes the only way to get the table cleared between courses is to leave the table for a while, come back and hope for the best. I will never go back to this hotel. They advertise it to be 4star, but the standard is certainly not there.

We went to Cyprus for the first time on April 11th 2005. We stayed in the Sandy Beach Hotel in a resort called Pyla on Dhekelia Road, which is in between Larnaca and Aya Napia. This is a lovely resort, fairly quiet - which suited us to the ground if like me you are in your early 50's. We went to a bar/restaurant called The Sussex. It is run by a family from the Isle of Wight. Very friendly with good food and excellent company. The food is priced quite reasonable and the drinks the same. Happy hour was between 5.00pm - 7.00pm. If you like Karoke then they have started this on a Wednesday night, which is great fun.
Do not go there if you are concerned about your safety
from liamoliam
Following an incident which affected me whilst I was a guest of the hotel I drew the management's attention to the regular indiscriminate parking in their car park. They agreed the car park was a problem but said it was not their responsibility! It was quite clear that in the event of an incident such as a fire or terrorist attack (bearing in mind the proximity of the Middle East) the emergency services would have no chance of getting adequate access to the hotel. I have advised Thomas Cook Ltd, who booked me into the hotel and they have shown sufficient concern to refer the issues to their Health & Safety Department. The management of the hotel have shown total complacency and one wonders about their concern about safety in the pool or elsewhere in the hotel. If you must visit the locality you should try the neighbouring Golden Bay or Lordos hotels which are better managed and have better facilities and take health & safety issues seriously.
