After booking my holiday over the...
7 / 10
Aug 2005, Miss C Jones

After booking my holiday over the Internet I did a quick google on the hotel name and came up with this site. After reading the comments here I was a little worried and contacted Flyoo who offered to change my hotel at a cost. I decided to stick with my original booking as I didn’t know if the other hotels in the same price bracket would be any better.
Having got back from my holiday on Thu 1/9 I can say that the Mersoy Exclusive rooms were spotless with good air-conditioning (essential in 40 degree heat!!) and the bathroom had a sizeable power shower & towels & sheets replaced & room cleaned daily. The food was basic.. but to be fair, so was the price.. for what I paid for a week all inclusive you would have been lucky to get a double room for one night in a London hotel for. Although the food was basic it included some of the things I like best about Turkish food (and so much better than a typical Spanish all inc .. no burgers, sausage, solidified pizza etc). I think the chips were probably there to cater for the British palate as most of the restaurants included chips on the menu.
There was a choice of hot or cold buffet every day, which I believe, would cater for most tastes, and if it doesn’t it is dirt cheap to eat out. If you like seafood try coco beach on the main beach strip for lunch or dinner it is fantastic and really reasonably priced. If you are expecting a full English every morning served at your table you probably won’t be impressed... but if that’s what you want why go to turkey?... Blackpool’s much closer :0) In terms of entertainment there is the belly dancer and break dancing thing once a week.
The lack of "entertainment" didn’t bother me as I’m not one for sitting round waiting for some dodgy cabaret act when there are so many lovely places to go and eat and drink and look at the fantastic views over the bay. Enough rambling from me... I was really dubious about going to this hotel after reading the reviews but I gave it a chance and I am glad that I did. The staff are lovely, the hotel is ideally located close to the beach and shops without being close enough to hear the noise from the bars (2 min walk to beach 5min to centre) and Icmeler is a lovely resort.

We stayed at the Mersoy Hotel for one week all inclusive. It is in a central location and within reach of all amenities. The hotel itself was kept extremely clean with room service daily and the swimming pools being cleaned daily. There are mattresses provided with sunbeds, yet there are only a few of them. The food was adequate, yet did not vary much.
The staff were also very helpful.. I'd definitely go back to the Icmeler in turkey again and even the Mersoy Hotel, yet I would never do all inclusive there again, its cheaper and tastier to eat out, I’d stick to a board of self catering or bed and breakfast next time!

I have just read the last comment and...

Aug 2005, Mr C M Cleave & Mrs C E Cleave

I have just read the last comment and feel, after having just visited this resort that the rating is a little unfair.
The Mersoy Exclusive is rated as a 4 star All Inclusive. On arrival which was at approx 4 am we checked in to the hotel and were shown to our room. the Mersoy Exclusive is across the road from the facilities of the Mersoy, however this is a very quiet road.
On getting to our room the air conditioning was not working, and with temperatures in excess of 42c we needed it. The reception were very helpful and sent someone up immediately. This was sorted straight away and worked fine for the duration of the holiday. The Air Con was NOT chargeable!!!!!!! (we actually woke up most mornings FREZZZZING)
The food in the hotel was very basic. Having stayed all-inclusive before, we had high expectations. Most days we had chips, potatoes, a meat dish and a vegetable dish. There was also soup available as well as a wide range of salads and as far as we were concerned, these were faultless.
The entertainment was fairly invisible. The belly dancers were OK but the break dancers were amazing. I think holding a grudge at giving 1-2 lira for a show like that (40p-80p) is ridiculous.
The All inclusive drinks were very good. We heard of complaints about the water not being cold, and this was rectified straight away.
The rooms were cleaned daily and were spacious enough. The shower room was clean and again big enough.
Day trips out are very plentiful, with everyone and their granddad trying to sell you them. One thing to mention is, do not book the trips with your rep. You will find them for around half the price if you go to any of the local trip organisers.
Overall this holiday was in a wonderful place. The hotel was fine. The food was basic but fresh. The pool was clean, the beach is a couple hundred metres away.
Also sunbeds are available and although there are not enough for everyone, we had one each day. In fact we even put our towels out @ 1-30am one morning after coming back from the Oasis bar.
Also the Mattresses for the sunbeds are not charged either.

I’ve just come back from 2 weeks at...

Aug 2005, Mr J I Bayram

I’ve just come back from 2 weeks at this unhealthy rip-off hotel ( I’ve been to turkey a number of times so I am used to they’re ways in fact I am the same culture) I booked into the Mersoy exclusive which was advertised as four star yet all our food and activities were at the mersoy which is classed as three star.
It was so bad I don't know where to begin, firstly was the food it was not refrigerated and milk had to be ladled out of a baking dish ( warm) the bread did not have a dish cloth by it so people were holding the bread with their bare hands and cutting it ( too bad if they’ve just been to the toilet) it was also the same breakfast everyday ( always check your melted butter satachet for melted mould this was only available in the morning so if you like butter on your bread in the evening tough).
Lunch and dinner was served outside under the two trees, you will often see things being ladled out of the baking trays in which they are served after falling from the trees ( leaves etc) and if you don’t mind being interrupted by wasps then the fact that for the first six days that we were there, of the four main dishes that are always available it was always chips ( reheated) rice and chicken with one other vegetable dish,( until enough people complained) this was along with the usual warm salads and bread.
As for entertainment they have a belly dancer ( who never smiles ) once a week for about 20 mins followed by some break dancers and they all come round with their hat after their performance.
During the day there is absolutely no entertainment and if your one of the 225 guests who did not get a lounger then you will have to use the dinner tables and chairs.
As for children there is a small play area for the children with a small pit full of balls and a small slide this is known as the children’s club. there is also 2 small pools (the size of 2 large baths ) for children. if you have children and care about their holiday this place is definitely not for you.
After I complained about this to my tour operator (among loads of other things) he changed the website as regards the children’s club to suspended for the rest of the season. ( by the way do not use Icmeler on line, we were promised heaven on earth by john and Sharon but were delivered to what I can say was the worst holiday of my life and when I complained to the head office, up the road from the hotel they were not interested I intend to find out if I can take action.)
then there are the pools 2 outdoors and one indoors. the indoor one was filthy and people had cut themselves a number of times on loose tiles in the pool, this pool only had three stained chairs to sit on and it was so stuffy and hot in this room.
of the two outside ones the first measured about fifteen yards by eight yards and the second was about ten yards by eight yards and too deep to stand in, there was less than 75 loungers for 300 guests. and no pool activities even if there was room.
As for a lasting memory we were awoken at 7am on our last day because they wanted our room this was followed by a phone call at 7.30 and 8.00 asking us to leave our room even though we were booked till 12.
On the bright side the rooms are cleaned regularly.
We stayed in the Mersoy exclusive and the bedrooms were a fair size but the bathroom was quite small only I could fit in the shower where I usually shower with my young son.
We then stayed in the Mersoy for 12 hours while we waited for our transfer these rooms classed as three star are similar to Butlins standard accommodation ( Butlins have bigger bath rooms).
I also heard that in this accommodation that the air conditioning was extra and you also had to pay to have a mattress on your lounger. oh and one more thing while we were there in the first week the internet access was free in the second week a charge of about £2.20 ( five Turkish lira) an hour was introduced. as for going to Marmaris the fare either was is 1.50 Turkish lira ( exchange rate of 2.3 lira to the pound) this makes it about 70p ( and do not be fooled it can be quite expensive in turkey if you can find anywhere decent to eat ( which I always do after all it's my culture).
the soft drinks are always over inflated ( about 3- 3.5 Turkish lira) this holiday was partly saved by the excursions which are always great especially the day out on the boat and the jeep safari.
as for this hotel it may be alright for a bed but nothing else if anybody says anything else then I have to say i believe they do not have very high standards in these matters or it may be possible they have an interest in this hotel.
I do not believe in getting up at 06.30 -7.00 to race for a sun lounger. and if you book this hotel expecting anything else I know YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Jul 2005, H Middleton

I’ve stayed at the Mersoy Hotel twice, and been to Icmeler 14 times hoping to go next year ,its a butt place and the people great, eating out is wonderful.
The boat trips are well worth the money, and Marmaris only 10 mins on the Dolmush about 40p.
