Myself(28), my wife(24) and our 21 month old daughter stayed for a fortnight at the Club Alka aprts. It was our 3rd time in Gumbet but 1st time at Club Alka. I'll break down the overall review into sections in order as follows:
Location: Firstly, the apts are far enough from the 'heart' of Gumbet, so we were not presented with any of the all night noise you would get in the centre. Although we found it quite difficult walking the buggy up the hill from the centre 3 times a day. The 'easier' way where you walk down past the windmill is quite easy if just walking but while pushing the buggy it made my legs kill and i work in a very active occupation! Apart from the hills, the location is okay.
Cleanliness: This was the major downfall to our stay at Alka!!! On entering our apartment, it seemed clean but when we inspected the bathroom, the toilet was disgusting, there was loads of brown sludgy build up all around the toilet pan and the shower floor was surrounded in sludgy crap! The floors had just been mopped and it only took a walk from the kitchen area to the bedroom and our feet were black!!! Not good when you have a young baby who's always playing with toys on the floor. When we had a shower, it leaked out from the cubicle all over the entire bathroom floor which made it a very dangerous slipping hazard, again not good with a baby and pregnant wife!!! We complained to reception about all of this in a nice manner and nothing changed. We complained again and still nothing! The bedding and towels were changed every 3 days in our 1st week but during the 2nd week, we went with no clean bedding or towels for 6 days!!! Complained again and again and......still nothing!!! On witnessing the floor cleaning one morning, we noticed that the cleaner turned up with a dirty bucket of water (obviously the same water used from the previous apart!) and she just proceeded to mop it, no sweeping first, just barely swooped the mop over the surface and any dirt that was in the way, she just flicked into the corners or under the furniture in the rooms! Disgusting!
Outside of the rooms, the complex was actually very clean indeed apart from the shared toilets located beneath the pool. They were hit and miss, as every public toilet is in the world.
Staff: All the bar staff were really great, couldn't do enough for you and absolutely love the kids and keep them entertained. They tried their hardest to keep people on the complex at night and did well, the bar was always busy with a good atmosphere. Tip: if you have a pram/buggy, exit the complex by the side of the bar to avoid the steps and on re-entering the complex, there's a doorbell by the gate which rings at the bar and they let you back in.
Swimming Pool: The main pool does have shallow ends with steps and ladders to enter it. There are also 2 kids pools that are exactly the same depth, just opposite one another. The water in the main pool was exremely cold (the sea was actually warmer!) but good if you were baking in the sun!
Food: The food at the aparts was actually very nice and quite reasonably priced compared to some places and the portions are very generous on most dishes.
As i mentioned, the cleanliness was our biggest moaning point and due to this, we won't be returning to Club Alka which is a shame as the bar staff were great but for the money we paid, we've stayed at MUCH cleaner aparts in Gumbet. On leaving the aparts, we left about
£35 worth of shampoos, deodrants, foods etc for the cleaners (Yes, the cleaners!!! as we had bought a lot and needed to reduced the weight of our cases). When we presented them with the dressing and kitchen table full of goods, they just turned their noses up at it!!! This peeved us off completely but we had no choice but to leave it. Can't please all folk eh?! Maybe they were expecting 100 YTL cash for all their good work!
If you fancy a boat trip, go to the Happy Pub down the hill past the taxi rank near the Windmill and speak to Joseph and ask for Halil (Joseph will phone him for you) and he does excellent trips for approx £10 each including food, excluding drinks. Halil is married to a Brit so he understands our culture, tallks perfect English and is the nicest guy you could meet and his trips are not packed like the tour operator ones!!! Also, Joseph and his family are spot on and make you feel very welcome in their karaoke bar! Enjoy!

Just returned from gumbet club alka these apartments are 1 of the best i have stayed in 6th time to turkey first time to gumbet.Every one was so friendly and helpful especially hasan on reception, and all the bar staff nostress so funny turkish nite was good the staff put on a show can't fault any of them. The rooms were cleaned every day and the maid would decorate your bed in flowers, bedlinen and towels changed every 3 days, the pool area was lovely and clean the only thing with the pool no shallow end,the setting and views are exactly like the pictures in brochure. To get to the main street there is a choice one is cardiac hill or just a bit further on is a smaller hill, the main street is quite busy and loud at times, one of the best restraunts was the windy bay which was along the beach front the steaks were the best. The only thing with gumbet is it quite hilly but apart from that a fantastic hol would recommend the club alka.

2007 was our 2nd year abroad, 2nd year in Turkey and 2nd year in Club Alka. Guess where we are all going in 2008, CLUB ALKA!!
The Staff Erkan, Baki, Adem, Mehmet, Fahti, Mustafa, Muti, Yusef, and of course DJ Nustres were excellent. Friendly, Funny, Caring.
Last year in September it was my Mum (40), Dad (40), Big Brother (20), Wee Brother (14) and Me (17), there was stuff for all of us to do we were entertained during the day and at nights.
The apartment cleaners were in everyday sweeping, our bedsheets and towels were changed every other day. The cleaners were very friendly and chatty but kept getting mixed up, I tried my best to speak some Turkish which Baki had taught me, which was helpful at times!
At nights there was plenty to do at the apartments if you didn't want to leave them, and there were plenty of bars and clubs in Bar Street!! We mostly spent our time in Roxy's and Shakers, as we got on very well with the managers and staff!!
The Turkish Night at the apartments arranged by the staff was superb, we went to 2 of them both years and will be going again this year!! The staff who were part of the Turkish Night were great, got everyone to join in. The Turkish Dancers were great too, we all loved to join in with their Turkish Dance.
At nights when Mum and Dad didn't want to stay out as long as us, the staff at the apartments would take us out and look after us, very good!!
All in all our holiday's were GREAT apart from one thing CARDIAC BRAE, but there is another way to get to and from the apartments but takes 5 minutes longer but it helps!!
We went for two weeks each time and are going back for three weeks this year!! We all would recommend Club Alka to anyone, it is suitable for all age's!!!!!
We miss the staff greatly and we will see you all soon.
Love the Ney Clan xxx

Me and my family have been going to Club Alka for the past few years, it is 1 of the best holidays I've ever been on. All the staff are amazing and ever so friendly and we are booking for next year. The food was brilliant everywhere in Gumbet and I loved the nightlife as I am 21, I was clubbing every night with the staff and my mates, all the Turkish people are very friendly.

Hi, just came back from Club Alka and I had the best time there, it was a family holiday and it was the best I've had. The staff were brilliant made you feel very welcome and always made you laugh, especially Nostress, with his guitar trying to play Oasis Wnderwall song haha, he made me smile every day. The food was good out there, we ate at the Golden Dragon a lot and the food was amazing. I'd recommend it there, the hotel food is good to. I am going back next year and I cant wait, brilliant holiday xx

We visited Gumbet in September and stayed in the Club Alka apartments - our tour operator was Goldtrail who I have to say at first meeting at the airport which in itself was a struggle to even find the reps!
When we did there was three reps, one older lady who’s was very stroppy and very unfriendly and spoke down to the other two in front of lots of holiday makers.
First impression was terrible and I can honestly say I would see no point in travelling with Goldtrail on future holidays.
However that aside, when we got off the bus at the apartment Club Alka at 4am in the morning we were then greeted by a very friendly face, the security guard, who showed us to our room opened the shop so we could get water, milk etc nothing was too much trouble ! What a fantastic greeting!
The following morning when we headed down to the lovely pool area we were greeted by many more friendly faces - I can honestly say the staff at Club Alka made the holiday one of the best we have ever had. They are fun, friendly and go out of their way to make your stay so enjoyable and fun both day and night.
Food was great, rooms were great and pool area, bar area were brilliant - our special thanks go to Nostruss, metin, fati. Mustafa and all others including the chefs who made us feel so at home in just 1 week stay.
We will definitely return soon and would recommend anyone else to stay - many thanks Tony, Jane and Jordan.

Just got back from our week in Turkey (1st time there) and club Alka. We had a great time there and would definitely recommend it.
The staff were absolutely brilliant! We went with our 14year old daughter and were worried that she wouldn’t like it but she loved it so much, she cried on the way home. She even went out with the staff one night and they really looked after her and I wasn’t at all worried as they are such great guys.
I didn’t rate Gumbet much as the shop keepers and the restaurant staff were always badgering you so made it slightly uncomfortable but we got used to it eventually!
The hill that runs up the side of the hotel isn’t called 'heart attack ' or suicide hill for nothing - it was so steep but was good fun. The hotel itself was really nice and the pool was a lovely temperature - which was good as the weather was scorching!
There are plenty of sun loungers so no need for saddo's to run and put towels out at 6am! We had a great room and our balcony was huge - we seriously could have played football up there.
We couldn’t have managed without the air conditioning though and the downside was its only in the bedroom and not the rest of apartment so whoever sleeps in the other two beds in the lounge area will be hot at night.
All in all I would recommend the Club Alka and would definitely go back again, if only to see the staff!!!

First time abroad in 15 years, and as an 18 year old I loved it! Nostress the DJ-cum-barman was brilliant and the central location of the hotel was fantastic! I adored all of the staff and they made my night throwing my parents' friend into the pool for his birthday! I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Turkey now, I have given my heart to the place and I'd urge anyone to do the same.

Fantastic holiday enjoyed by all eight of us, four adults and four boys. The staff are fantastic, the maid comes in every day, the pool is clean and food everywhere is good. Try a mixed grill at OZUKARA(opposite the Windmill) for two people, you will never feel hungry again. CHINA TOWN for breakfasts for a pound, delicious, YUMMYS for the best kebabs ever, opposite the bar with no name, and Aloha also excellent, food on site ok too but chips with everything!
Everyone works really hard to make sure you have a wonderful time, we all loved our Scalded Cat DJ Nostress, Turkish night a scream and lovely food, nothing is too much trouble for the staff especially, Nostril, Mehtin, Faith and Musstafa. We miss them all xx The Crowder and Wild Families, Derbyshire

I visited Gumbet with two of my girl friends and it was the best week of our lives.
Club Alka was amazing! The apartments were spacious and comfortable, the staff were so fun, and the weather was great.
We loved our time there and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The swimming pool was really big and was surrounded by deck chairs.
The staff made it fun by playing music through the day and at night time which we thoroughly enjoyed. (However I can imagine this could annoy some people).
We rarely ate the hotel food, but what we did was fine, however there were a lot better places to eat in Gumbet.
I very much recommend Club Alka and hope that everyone who goes enjoys it as much as we did.

Had a wicked time with my 2 mates at Club Alka.
It is mostly families but us three 22 year olds had a brill time, mainly due to the staff, Mustafa, Nusret, Muti, Metin and Mehmet, there such a laugh, we even went out to clubs with them a few times.
Rooms were nice and clean although we didn’t get clean towels very often. Food was good but they will give you chips with everything even spaghetti bolognaise, and in town they put chips inside the doner kebabs!
Didn’t rate the bars much, well there were 3 that were quite good and always busy but they played exactly the same music every night!
It was funny watching the Turkish guys dance though there hilarious and there chat up attempts are even funnier, if you’re not easily offended you will get most jokes from them.
The way from the hotel to the town is quite creepy at night and me and my friends got followed several times by creepy Turks trying to come back to our hotel, so girls don’t do the walk alone.
The beach is nice. All in all I wouldn’t go back, if I did it would just be for the staff but if you are going you'll def have a wicked time.

Just returned from a great week and would definitely go back. The hotel staff were a great laugh and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. The whole of the apartments was spotlessly clean and the food was great. My only complaint would be that due to the solar heated water system the showers were often cold!
The hassle from staff outside shops drove us mad but we found that we could buy souvenirs from the newsagent type stores without any hassle. The Dolmus minibuses are great and we would recommend visiting Bodrum and also taking a day trip to Kos. The water park also provided us with a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Well. What can I say? This is not only the first time that I have ever been to turkey, but it is the first time I have ever been abroad.
If every time I go abroad from now on is as good as this, I will not be spending any time in England from now on.
Nustress, Yusef, Fatih, Ismael, Mettin and all the others were all fantastic. They make you feel so welcome and are so friendly. The only bad point is the hassle that you get in the town from restaurant owners and shop owners but you learn to deal with that after a couple of attempts of walking into town. The boat trips and the water parks were amazing and are certainly recommended.
For myself and my girlfriend Kate this was our first time away together and now we are keeping our eyes open for a late deal to go back this year to Club Alka. I would recommend it to anyone. From old to young this is brilliant. Love to you all in Club Alka. We'll see you soon.
