This hotel is by far the best!
We went just a couple of years ago and it was perfect! We're going there again in 3 days. Normally my family aren't big on doing the same things twice; we're all about experiencing different things and places but Club Alka was so great we refused to give up the oppotunity to go again! The staff were so friendly and never hesitated to make sure you were okay, the rooms were amicable but extremely clean and the pool was cleaned every day too so very hygenic.
Some reviews on here are slating this hotel because it wasn't very convinient for their young ones, so the fact is, don't go if you have anyone under 6! Simple. Even despite that, I believe that the hotel does cater for every age as I was quite young the first time I stayed here. At the end of the hotel bar is a massive flat screen television that YOU get control over and next to it is like a play-pen packed full of toys and play things. There is also a massive football table AND a pool table and even if you're not satisfied with that - the staff are entertainment enough! It was great for everyone. The only thing I can agree on is the fact that very loud music is played until the early hours of the morning but realistically, that's Gumbet for you.
Over all the hotel is situated in an area with great, cheap food places, fantastic bars designed for families and some really good tourist attractions. Really, you shouldn't knock it until you try.
At the end of the day, it's a matter of opinions. It all depends on what kind of person you are. If you're looking for hilarious, caring and professional hotel staff, great food, a partying atmosphere, clean rooms, a hygenic and fun pool, entertainment every night and a beautiful view, Club Alka is the one for you.

Enjoyed the holiday very much, didn't know about the hills or the stairs. Oh the stairs, so many of them no good if like my husband you have trouble breathing and walking, had to get taxi's everywhere,.Staff very friendly and cant do enough for you. Cleaning could be better. All in all a very nice holiday

Just got back from 2 weeks at Club Alka. On arrival we were shown to our apartment and it was basic but very spacious. It had a decent kitchen area with microwave, kettle, toaster, hot rings, sink and plenty of cupboard space and also a very large fridge freezer. Only the bedroom had air conditioning which you had to pay for so the other sleeping area in the lounge was extremeley hot. Due to the location of our room we were unable to have the window/door open as we were right above the hotel bar which plays EXTREMELEY LOUD MUSIC until 12am, sometimes later (which with a 2 year old who goes to sleep at 7pm- 9pm there time was not good!) We considered moving rooms but we had heard off others that there was road noise and also noise from bar street and as we had a beautiful view of the pool, hills and sea we decided to stay put.
One thing i cannot stress enough is how steep Cardiac hill is, I cannot believe this information is not in the Thompson brochure as it is NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITH WALKING DIFFICULTIES OF PUSHCHAIRS. Neither is the hotel for that matter, there are stairs to get to the hotel, stairs down to the rooms then you have to go back up stairs to come down some more to get you to the bar and pool!! We had a pushchair and my mum walks with a crutch therefore we were absolutley knackered for the 2 weeks we stayed.
The pool area was immaculate, it was cleaned everyday. There are safety mats all around to prevent people slipping and plenty of sun loungers available.
The food in the bar was average, quite a basic menu but okay for an easy dinner to avoid cardiac hill!. Also in the bar area was a childrens play area which had plenty of little tikes type toys to keep the younger kids entertained.
The hotel and bar staff were very helpful and always seemed to be smiling.
Overall i enjoyed my stay but the location was far from ideal. I really think this needs to go in the brochure as if we'd have known about it being on top of a hill (mountain!) we would not have booked this hotel. Also I just can't understand why they play such loud music when it is advertised as a family hotel, there are plenty of places nearby if you want to party.
Would I recommend this hotel? yes but only to families who don't mind keeping their children up till all hours, and also to young couples who are very fit! I certainley wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a pushchair or anyone who has health problems.

this was our 3rd trip to club alka, having stayed in various hotels in gumbet over the years including all inclusive.
this is far the best, you r treated as 1 of the family and it always has the same faces returning every year.
this tells a story of its self, nostress and boys are brilliant they really make your holiday.
the rooms r basic but r very clean and spacious with own balcony looking over gumbet and the sea,the pool is very clean, the food is lovely and u r very central to town.
All in all a vey good little family run hotel where nothing is a problem.
we have booked for next year already lol.

Have only just returned from Gumbet and our stay at Club Alka. In short we absolutely loved it. Our third visit to gumbet in three different hotels and Club Alka was by far the best.
I have read reviews here of late night noise and unless you have bionic ears I am not sure where that applies to Club Alka, its is far enough away from Bar Street not to be effected by it and to be honest if music or a party atmosphere bother you then simply do not go to Gumbet.
Club Alka is a wonderful family atmosphere with great staff, one in particular you just have to meet is No Stress (yes that is his name) what a funny guy, that man on his own made our holiday, what a lovely fella. If you go you will find out what I mean.
Apartments are basic but all you will need, we found them clean and tidy and cleaned every day. Pool area is great, bar is well stocked and they will always get anything you want. Food is of a good standard, yes you can find cheaper away from the hotel if you want the walk.
We loved it and will most definately return in the future.
Highly reccomended.

Club Alka is a lovely place to stay apart from the heart attack hill, but there is a longer route down the hill so not too bad.
Staff are very friendly and make your stay pleasant. Lots of stray cats about which we ended up feeding and they moved into our apartment! lol.
Pool area very relaxing and rooms clean and tidy. Would definately consider going back.

Club Alka was amazing, the staff are very friendly and help you when ever you need it. The apartments were clean and a decent size, they also have amazing views of the sea and hills. The apartments a well suited for different age groups, the food in the apartments is lovely and cheap enough. The only off putting thing about it was the hill you had to go down, its very steep but we did manage to find a easier way to go which was round the back.
Other than that really enjoyed it and want to go back.

Been to turkey many times, favorite place bodrum, first time staying in gumbet.Went with family and 11 year old daughter.Appartments nice enough, got brilliant balcony it was huge with stunning views of gumbet and sea.The pool is good ,bar area, reception, ect, clean and nice enough.Gumbet is nice in the daytime, beach is clean and plenty of bars and resturants, also loads of shops.Nightime is a completly differant story.I am a young 32 year old, like music ,bars, ect but this is a 18-30 resort.Bar street is sleazy and you cant avoid walking down it because Alka apps are on bar street!.Needless to say the noise from bar street goes on untill 4am .All we could see from our balcony when we back at night was half dressed women prancing arround with turkish lads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.When we went out at night we seemed to get non stop hassle from sleazy men. This is the worst resort for this and we have been to lots of resorts in turkey. The hotel staff seem pleasant but are only interested in your money,on the last day because we left no tip they left us to carry all our luggage up 2 flights of stairs. The reason we didnt leave atip was because we had hardley any money letover on the last day.I wouldnt stay here again due to the noise

Wasn't sure what to expect before we arrived. First holiday with my friends from college, group of six of us aged 18. The appartments are basic but very tidy and have everything you need. They were cleaned on a daily basis and we recieved clean towels and sheets regularly. The pool is brilliant, very clean and never too busy, meaning we didn't have to wake up early in the morning to claim sunbeds. The staff at the hotel are great fun, always up for a laugh and there to meet all your needs. Food at the bar is served until 10pm at night and is top quality. The bar stays open until everyone has finished drinking, theres a great atmosphere and i would definately recommend it to anyone. The nightlife in gumbet is really good, plenty of lively bars and clubs. Best place by far though is Chico's, staff their are brilliant. Only 5TL for a full english breakfast and put on some fantastic entertainment at night time. Club alka appartments are deffinately the place to stay in gumbet. There is a slight hill leading up to the appartments but their are steps at the side and you can eaisly walk around the other way to reach them.
