very tired and dated hotel. situated perfect for bar street and beach. the staff (Eric, shamish, and the guy on the hotel beach) are very friendly and work very hard. we stopped b&b, the breakfast was ok but very basic. even though in the middle of a lively resort, you dont hear the noise in your rooms, would go back for location.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and loved it! We went back as a family in Oct and were soo shocked! The place has gone so far down hill there is no way back! Get a bulldozer or sell it to the hotel next door - The place was horrible. Small, tired and... more

Good bit first - The Baba itself has a fantastic location, right by bar Street & leads right on to the beach. It is a shame that it has deteriorated to this state, as we can see from older reviews that, once upon a time, it was one of the best in Gumbet - It either needs a... more

Lets start with the positives first. Gumbet is an awesome place to visit, everything for everyone here. Shops, nightlife, watersport, excellent restuarants, nice beaches etc. Really enjoyed the local area, and the only places I'd say to avoid are this hotel and the Indian... more

We only managed one night here before being moved to Bitez. This hotel is in receivership and appears to be running a scam; putting you in a really bad room so you ask to move and they charge you £30. We were in the 'best room', according to Thomas Cook and it was... more

Loved the massage!
The hotel was fine, a little dated but clean and the staff were helpful. The turkish bath and massage was something else! really good. Go on your first day for the soap massage - its only £7. Then go later for the oil massage - such luxury! Don't get ripped off paying the tour operators prices for trips - you can get them all much cheaper on the high Street. The swimming pool was lovely, and the free sunbeds and close proximity to the beach make this an ideal place to go. Personally I wouldn't recommend the food here, they would not allow us to eat at tables placed on the beach because we were mere half board guests, they reserved it for the paying customers, which annoyed me no end. There were no paying customers anyway, as the food isn't so good, so no - one sat on the beach, not a good advert! There are stacks of places to eat in the town, which is literally on the doorstep. Next time we will go B&B. Don't bother taking any currency either - they are all more than happy to take sterling or euros. The hotel exchange rate is just as good as the rate at home, anyway. We have already booked again for next year, you couldn't really do better than this for a town centre/on the beach holiday.
Basic but nice enough
We went to Turkey twice last year and we loved it both times, infact we are going back this year. Last August we stayed in the Sami hotel. Although we preferred the staff in the Sami the actual hotel was not as good as the Baba. The Baba is basic but nice enough. The rooms have everything you need apart from a mini bar. The staff are very friendly but we did prefer the atmosphere in the Sami. When we went in August we ate one evening at the Baba hotel and you could not fault it. When we went back to stay there in the October, lots of the staff remembered us. The hotel has a wonderful pool, two full size snooker tables and two bars. What i did like about the hotel was it was not very far from all the bars. Hotel Baba was only about 50 steps from my favourite bar and across the road was a supermarket, so not far to walk with the beer and wine.
Great Hotel!!!!
Can't praise this hotel enough! Although the rooms are basic they are cleaned thoroughly everyday and beds are changed every other day. The pool area is great with nice bars and restaurants. All the staff we met were very friendly and I can highly recommend the boat trip organised by ROY (of the hotel) and a game of mini golf or two.
best eva
i stayed in the baba hotel and i think it was amazing the people r great the service is wonderfull, and yes i remember muzzi and hassan. if i could i would live there. i met loadz of great people ova there. and i would reccomend the happy bar dwn bar street its absolutley brilliant.
Brilliant
I went with my friends in May, they favoured this hotel & went several times. It was brilliant something for everyone. I met Ercan & went back to stay in October for another 2 weeks with him. He worked there but this did not bias my opinion. It was central & near to all amenities. 2 Cash machines outside & plenty of pubs nearby. The staff are all really friendly & are always willing to help.
best holiday ever!!
When we first got to the hotel, we thought oh no whats this , but we were so wrong. This hotel was fantastic, the staff were amazing and friendly from the moment we arrived. The rooms were basic but clean and got cleaned thoroughly every day. All activities in the hotel were good and you will never be bored. I would especially recommend the boat trip to anybody travelling to this hotel, the captain and jesus were fantastic. We enjoyed the boat trip so much we went once again on our second week. We enjoyed the place that much we are going back again this year. From mel's family!! xxx
Fab darling
My friend and i went to this hotel last year in July and are returning without parents in August 2005. Although the rooms were small, and the hairdryers kept eating our hair, they were extremely pleasent for the amount of time that we actually spent in the room of a night, which was a whole hour or two. The rooms were cleaned every morning when we left for the beach and they even folded our clothes up and put them away for us. Air conditioning is a gift from heaven, as the rooms get very hot and stuffy. The terrace was a nice, peaceful place to sit and listen to music very loudly. There was even a washing line to hang your clothes on. There was a pool bar, disco bar, golf bar and then just a few minutes walk away there was bar street. The dj at the disco bar is a bit moody though. Some of the staff at the disco bar would come and dance with us when they were a bit quite. On our first night there we both got asked to dance by the two of the staff to a slow song. When fast up beat songs came on we would get Ozzy, Ercan, Argan, Ishmel, Chevic, and others to come and dance and they taught us their dance to the turkish kiss kiss song. every night was so different to the last and we had so much fun each time. Everytime the song Delilah came on, Argan would start singing into the Pumps and he was very good, but wouldn't do karoke. We made a lot of friends out there, as they were very friendly. all the bar staff are entertaining and funny. They always took care of us and attempted to keep us out of trouble. The watersports on the beach were amazing. We would definetly recommend the ringos for anyone who likes fun, adventerous activities. The boat trip is a must. You get a little speed boat out to the big boat and travel round Turkey islands, and end up at camel island where you spend an hour before returning back to your hotel. Lunch is included, and it takes the whole day, but its worth it. Afterwards you go for a free drink at the disco bar, then thats it. There are shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs everywhere you look. The best restaurants that we visited were tino's across the road from the hotel, and the sami beach restaurant which is on the beach with candles at night right next door to the hotel. The food was absolutely gorgeous and the staff are so nice. Just up the road there is a little kebab stop that do amazing kebabs. The cocktails are delicious. The tequila sunrise, titanic, baba cocktail, pink cadilac, pinacolada, and lots more. The staff make them very pretty and fun to drink. There are a lot of activities to do during the day for adults and kids. We would definetly recommend this hotel.
Lovely welcoming hotel,
Have gone to Hotel Baba in Gumbet since 1988 have only missed the odd year and have enjoyed every holiday taken there. Everyone helpful and courteous, would recommend to anyone.
fantastic hotel!!
Was in hotel baba in june 2004. 2nd time in turkey but the first time stayin in this hotel. brilliant hotel! enjoyed every min of this holiday. rooms are basic but comfortable. lovely pool . right on the beach and in the center of things. the bar on the beach with crazy golf is excellent. if any1 remembers kadir please let me know!!!!!!! all the people are so lovely. hope to return soon!
Great place, have been 7 times
I have had the pleasure of staying at the Baba 7 times now. the rooms are small but fine for the purpose of sleeping, the bathroom is again ok clean although a little dated. the balcony is small as it is classed as a French one and was never intended to be sat on. The views are exerlent, the food is not a`la`carte but is well worth the money when you go half board. The people are great, the hotel staff very helpful. The pool is great and has a nice little bar. I would and have recomended the hotel baba to my friends. I will be going there again.
