Comments:  I've now stayed at Hotel Baba for the last 14 years and already booked for 2008. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Every year there seems to be yet another change made in either a resturant or a shop. The staff at Baba are fantastic and will always be ready to help you. After going there for so long I am now quite an expert on the best places to eat. If its authentic Turkish may I recommend Divers Bar but if it's a steak your seeking - then the best will be found at Columbia which is always busy so they all cant be wrong! The boat trips with Roy are well worth the money and a great chance to keep the tan topped up - take a good book and CHILL - fantastic. The rooms at Baba are very basic but clean and kept that way by daily cleaners, who will also help however they can. A trip into Bodram harbour can be a very nice way to spend an evening - plenty of shops and boats normaly only seen in your dreams. You can either jump on a local bus outside the hotel or grab a cab - both ways are very reasonable . I have made many new friends there over the years and always meet up with a few of them every year. The pool is kept clean on a daily basis and childrens pool is ideal as it is kept separate from the main pool. The beach has plenty of sun beds - the sand is not that great but the water is very safe as it is not tidal [Gumbet is in a cove] and the water is very shallow for quite a way - so great for the children or just for the chance of a game of bat and ball. You can spend the day on the beach, knowing that you room is only a few feet away. There is a water park quite local - another good day out! The night life is in abundance - all within easy walking distance [ it starts as soon as you leave the hotel] - no need to worry about getting cabs back to your bed after a night out, but if you just want a lazy holiday - no problems, the hotel is situated so you dont get woken by the noise of the disco bars. In other words - FANTASTIC HOTEL AND RESORT - Love it!!!!

Comments:  This place is a dreadful, rooms are tiny, I can do basic but I expected a little more room than a coffin! the pool is filthy, broken glass everywhere, kids and adults cutting their feet - one girl spent the night in hospital on a drip for 12 hours due to the infetion from the cut on her foot - that she got at the poolside!

you get shortchanged and ripped off at the pool bar by the two most ignorant staff as they give the wrong change and overcharge you!

millions of stairs everywhere to the pool from reception and to the rooms from reception.

breakfast was stale and you have to eat with the cats and stray dogs around you - whom fight for food - another girl was bitten by these dogs that the staff simply let in.

all in all I think its an utter hole, kids from hell in the pool totally unsupervised by their parents are they sod off to the bar or bog off down the beach and leave their foul mouthed brats to run riot and for the other guests to try to deal with.

Great plae if your a chav on the pull or piss 24/7 - certainly not for the regular normal family at all.

Comments:  Myself and two friends have just got back from our first time in Turkey. We have booked to go back in September ! The Baba Hotel was lovely. Rooms basic but very clean. The cleaners, (all men) changed bedding and towels evey day and were very helpful and polite. Breakfast and Dinner were buffet style. The breakfast was the usual things you get abroad. There was plenty of choice for your evening meal and it was all delicious ! All the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The hotel is situated right on the beach and the waiters bring your drinks over to your sun loungers for you..bliss ! All sun loungers on the beach are free ! The sea is chrystal clear and slopes gently, ideal for children. Simbad sells the boat trips, he has a stand on the prom next to hotel gates, this was excellent value for money about £10.00 from 10.30am-5.30pm. It stops at five places, Black Island and Camel Beach to name but two. You can jump off the boat and swim, snorkles and goggles provided. Lunch included was excellent. Afternoon tea and cakes later also. The Turkish Baths are a must have, what a fantastic experience. There is nightlife in abundance, something for everyone. In all it's the best holiday we've ever had ! Try it you'll definately go back !

Comments:  My partner, myself and my 2 year old have just returned from our first holiday in Turkey and we stayed at the Baba Hotel. The hotel itself is nice and clean and the pool area is cleaned every night, as we went at the beginning of the season there was lots of sun loungers available and the pool was never packed.
Rooms are very basic but are clean, our bed linen was changed every day and the room cleaned and new towels given, rooms could probably do with abit of a makeover but overall they was nice.
The location of the hotel is perfect, out the back straight onto the beach and out the front there are lots of bars and restaurants.
All the locals were very friendly and made a huge fuss over our 2 year old, one restaurant that we visited alot Sunflower even bought him a tshirt on our last day. There was also another bar/restaurant that we visited alot called the Jasmine, both of these places were lovely and made you feel very welcome, also the staff in the Jasmine are very funny and will keep you entertained.
Both these places are within 2 minutes walk of the hotel (go left out of the hotel and turn left down the road and then they are both down on the right hand side. The sunflower is after the Jasmine and the food in both of them is lovely!)
Would definitely go back both to Turkey and to the Baba

Comments:  Went back to Hotel Baba for the second time and like the first trip as good as ever. We love the Baba, everybody was friendly and made the holiday even better. Don't think much of the ignorant staff member who ran the Baba shop but we avoided it after the second day but we will be going back. Everything you need while on holiday is on the door step. We have been going to Turkey twice a year for the last six years and can say that Hotel Baba is far the best we have been in and we haven't been to the same place twice till we stayed at Baba. Its better to go bed and breakfast as half board was basic and it is cheap enough to eat out. We will see you all next year hopefully.

Comments:  This was our first time in turkey, totally recommend The Baba Hotel, the location of the hotel is spot on and is right on the beach and close to the bars and restaurants.

If you are looking at taking Roy's boat trip, then make sure you take a snorkle as this is not confirmed when he tells you that you can go diving and snorkeling, i was annoyed that i missed this opportunity.
The boat trips are good though, but you can haggle for cheaper excursions than his.

Hotel was great, only bad point was the awful poor air conditioning, and that a fridge wasnt supplied in the rooms.

Comments:  I have been to this hotel 6 times now and have just booked for june this yr and september!
i have been with my partner and it is fantastic for couples and families and i have also been with my friends the nightlife and the fantastic beach and location make this hotel perfect for a girlie holiday! the hotel is pretty basic but its to be expected for the price and the location certainly makes up for that!!!!

the locals are very friendly and there are many fab choice of resturants my personal favorite is milleniums (turn right from the street entrance and follow the road to the end i would reccomend the steak) and the bars are so much fun and the cocktails are the best i have tasted!

i would definatly recommend the baba gumbet!!

Comments:  Came back from staying at the Hotel Baba on Tuesday and I am depressed to be back home. Everything was great. The hotel was very nice although when we were taken to our room when we first arrived we saw that we had no balcony and no view of the pool or beach but we only booked a standard room anyway and that is what we got.

After a day or two you learn to get used to it, my last grumble is that there was no fridge or anything to keep your water cold so it was necessary for us to keep buying some as you don't want to be drinking hot water in that heat.

These are minor grumbles anyway the hotel and everything else cannot be faulted. As from other people's reviews I also went on a boat trip which was very good we stopped at five different places one being black island (I think) where you can pay 3 Lira for a mud bath, we also had other stops where you could do some snorkelling or jump off the boat or just lay there topping up your tan.
You also stop for about 45 minutes while they prepare lunch for you which was pasta, chicken, cold potato and other things, oh and watermelon. You then go to camel beach for an hour where you can pay to ride a camel. I did this as I have always wanted to ride a camel, as someone else commented; it was short but worth the money. This trip was from 10:30-17:30.

I particularly loved the staff at this hotel they are all so friendly, especially one who works in the disco at night called Ahmet. All the staff are always around while u laze around on the beach asking if you want anything to drink or eat. I don’t have anything negative to say about my holiday except that it wasn't long enough.

There are plenty of nightclubs/bars and restaurants to go to and plenty of shops, although the bag shops in particular are quite similar and you are always stopped and dropped a line to try get you to eat/drink in their bar/restaurant. Does become quite funny.

I have made some friends from my week stay out there and will keep in contact with three of them, everyone is just so nice. I am experiencing post holiday blues!

Comments:  I had a marvellous week at the Baba! Bar street is just outside the Hotel and that's where the clubs, karaoke etc are. I loved Xbar and Shakers Bar, mad!

The room at first was disappointing but after all its only for SLEEPING in! The beach is just outside the hotel along with bars and restaurants which was very convenient. The pool is very clean. The pool bar was my favourite place to be! The staff were very friendly and spoke fantastic English.

I really enjoyed this holiday, that's why i'm going for 2 weeks next year, one week wasn't enough GO FOR 2!

JAMAL AND VEYSI, (staff at pool bar) SEE U NEXT YEAR!

Comments:  Overall the Baba was a nice hotel. However. whilst booking the holiday we were promised a balcony and sea view, we received neither. The rooms were EXTREMELY basic but did not really concern myself and partner due to the little time we spent in there.

The rooms were kept really clean throughout our stay due to being cleaned everyday and supplied with fresh towels and sheets (which were rather tough on sunburnt skin!). The air-con is a must and only costs £3 per so it is well worth it.

Breakfast was also basic but sufficient. Evening meals were also basic and at times repetitive. Nevertheless, the money saved on accommodation and food was obviously lavished on the exterior surrounding the pool, which was absolutely breath-taking. It was a large pool surrounded by palm trees and a bar. Even though the hotel consists of 5 bars there is only one that you notice as a guest at the hotel, which is the pool bar. The bar staff are friendly but at times annoying when they are consistently 'full on'.

Overall I believe I would recommend and consider going back to The Baba. It is family orientated and ok for couples as well.

Comments:  Whilst trying to book a different Hotel within the same resort. The Hotel Baba was recommended as 'a place where people return time and time again'. The operator was not wrong! As we met and talked to couples of all ages that were on their 3rd, 4th time of staying.

As per the general description for the Baba. The Hotel is situated within easy reach of beach, bars and restaurants. Rooms are basic but not crappy, and have a fantastic air con system that will cost you an additional £3 per day. Safety deposit box also £3 per day.

I found the comments left by previous visitors of both Hotel and this site invaluable, as excursions were booked through individuals and shops at great savings.

Gulet cruise to five bays, including a delicious lunch. £10 (25 lira) - See Roy at the rear of the Hotel (Beach-side). £25 with tour operator.

2 day excursion to Ephesus and Pamukkale with overnight stay in Hotel and a variety of meals thrown in with the price. £30 (94 lira) with Queen Travel. £61 through tour operator. A word of warning though. The tour guide Farti has a degree in Turkish history, and boy does he know his stuff! But, still he's a cracking bloke.

Overall. Hotel, Resort and people were great, and I hope to see and do it all again within the next 2 years.
