Stayed at Dennys Inn ! It was A last minute holiday cheap and basic . We did our homework before we went called the owner by her first name when we met her she then couldn't do enough for us. We only showered and slept there had no problems with moseys never got bitten once. As long as you do what you should do to avoid them plugs spray etc you should be fine we enjoyed the figs from the trees around our apartments lovely. We both absolutely enjoyed the relaxation the great location just off the main street . A great pool and bar next door , went on several excursions booked on the main street not too expensive. Restaurants pretty reasonable all very welcoming our fav HEAVENS KITCHEN . Please go with an open mind its not luxury it is basic we loved it going again next year !! Zante has something for everyone and most of all myself and 19yr old daughter felt safe !! WE LOVE ZANTE !!

First thoughts grim surroundings, inside even grimmer. Mosquito infested and dead ones splattered all over appartment walls. We went in August 45c all the holiday NO decent fans or air con we had no sleep for a fortnight, it would have been a little better if you could have opened windows and doors but the Mosquitoes were queing up outside! The owner came accross has quite scary and strict you didn't want to get on the wrong side of her! You get what your paid for and by the way you never see a rep the whole time your there. Kalamaki strip was soooo boring! Too many expensive restaurants wanting your money and serving up frozen meals with hairs in them (watch our for spag bol) No entertainment just FOOTBALL. Overall Denny's is okay if you like mosquitoes, sweating like a pig, and being claustrophobic.

My partner and I actually stayed in these apartments some time ago in 2005. Having checked the reviews the apartments were getting I felt I had throw in my tuppence worth. Firstly, from what I have read people seem to have unrealistic expectations about Greek accomodation and Dennys. The rooms are basic. The best you can expect is that they are clean, which we found these to be. More than likely there will be two single beds, no double, this is normal. We can't remember how often they were cleaned/beds changed but also don't remember it being inadequate. Yes, youre not going to be able to cook much on the little electric rings or get much use out of the handful of utensils, but in our experience they are all the same unless you pay significantly more. Are you really going to spend your holiday cooking? The most we used these facilities for was the fridge for cooling drinks/milk and having cereal in the morning. Thats all I ever expect from 'self catering'. Greek apts don't have shower cubicles/curtains/holders - the bathrooms are usually 'wet' rooms with a mixer and shower head in one corner - what more do you need - really? aslong as there's hot water. Also there were no drunken teenagers there and we could get a decent nights sleep when we wanted. We found the building looked pretty from outside and is set in a nice lawn/garden. There is no air con - not unusual at this level and yes a fan is not going to have much of an impact. The apts do not have their own pool but you have the use of the one at Scorpio Bar and I don't feel its OTT to buy a drink or two for the privilege. We found the lady who runs the place to be perfectly friendly, and if you don't want to leave a tip at the end of your stay, then don't. The apts are well placed for the bars/restaurants in Kalamaki, just behind the main road. We found it a bit of a walk to the beach (about 15/20mins?) but nothing too stressful. The beach is relatively narrow but we found it clean and quiet, ideal. If you're expecting to be in livelier Laganas much you'd be better off staying there, it's too far to walk and taxi fares will mount up. In a nutshell the apts are well located, basic but clean, quiet and overall the perfect base for a cheap, relaxing holiday. You get what you pay for. Dennys is much better than some other similarly priced accommodation we have stayed in (Billys Faliraki, ahem).

- Advice: Quieter, relaxing, good selection of bars/restaurants, good beach, close to lively Laganas.

Just returned from a weeks stay in denny's apartments and have no complaints. So the studio's were basic, but it does say that in the brochure and you get what you pay for.The studios were small, but adequate in prime location and the owner was always pleasant and could be found at anytime to answer any questions. We managed to have a hot shower everyday, something that never usually happens to us in greece, our beds were changed mid way through the week and the outside bin emptied everyday, also toilet paper was provided we usually have to buy our own.Not recommended if you want to spend your holiday cooking, but fine for making a snack, a kettle was provided which was a suprise. The Scorpio pool next door was a minutes walk away, did a great full english and a nice bar.Good eating places, would recommend Parthenon and The Olive Tree as our favourites and none of them broke the bank. For friendly bar staff try Drunks Corner directly opposite Denny's. All in all a good holiday at a good price, would definately have no qualms about staying there again.

Just returned from a wonderful weeks' Honeymoon at the Denny Apts, May 10th - May 18th 2009. They are basic, clean and close to everything in the resort. Denise who owns and runs the apts is your typical greek lady!! She is a lovely lady, always happy, friendly and willing to help. Due to her limited English we found that she shouted a little, in order to get her point across, but it most definately wasn't rudeness!! When she found out we were on honeymoon, she was upset at Direct Holidays not letting her know as she would've left flowers in our room (she is very proud of her roses!). Each day we saw her, she gave me another flower!
We stayed in Studio 6 on the ground floor. The balcony got some sun in the mornings but none in the afternoon, which meant it was lovely and cool on our return from an afternoon out. All of the apartments and studios have wonderful views over the mountains.
The studios themselves are a bit on the small side (however if the 3rd bed had been removed this would've helped vastly!). They were cleaned daily and we were given clean towels and linen twice during our one week stay. The small kitchen had cutlery and crockery, larder fridge and a small electric stove with 2 rings. However, we do not cook on holiday so only used the fridge, to keep our water, drinks and ice in. The bathroom was adequate with toilet, wash hand basin with vanity mirror and a small shelf to hold some toiletries and a shower stall (as with most greek accommodation, there is no shower curtain and the shower head is hand held only). We were also given adequate supplies of loo roll!
Although there is no pool at the Apartments, the Scorpion Pool and bar is directly next door and is open to all. It was never particularly busy so there was always a good choice of sunbeds (which are free) and the bar was well stocked and provided light snacks.
Kalamaki itself is a long main street with an abundance of restaurants and bars depending on your preference. There are of course a few restaurants and bars away from the main strip, but most are predominately located on the main street.
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, we particularly liked The Ambrosia and the Parthenon and on our final evening discovered the Artemis. The waiters put the food service staff in our country to shame. They are friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Food is superb with a wide variety to choose from. There is also a couple of Chinese Restaurants and an Indian if that's what takes your fancy, however we did not try these during our stay.
Hello to Labaros at PnP Cocktail bar, he does the best cocktails by far in the whole of Kalamaki!!! We didn't manage to try all of his cocktail menu during our weeks' stay, it's never ending!!!
Also, Hello to Paula & Leigh at the Rose N Crown. They have entertainment all week long and again are friendly and welcoming!!!
We also drank in the Cronulla Bar, Drunk Corner, The Iguana (on the beach road) and various other places. No matter where you go, they always remember you and welcome you back like old friends.
All in all, we had a wonderful weeks' Honeymoon in Kalamaki and have no hesitation what so ever in recommending it or the Denny Apartments.

Cheap holiday so don't expect any extras.. despite the fact the owner doesn't speak alot of english she helped as much as possible. Looking for a cheap holiday, shops close and 10 second walk for strip of pubs, 2 min walk to beach this is the place for you. Seen one police car drive through in the week we stayed, off duty policeman started a fight with us for no reason. Two good things about the holiday decent weather and the sports pub across the road has the nicest bar staff on the island...

Having spent 2 weeks in denny's it is lacking on a few things, like a small saucepan, decent cups, lack of general room service, we only had our towels and bed lined changed 3 times, and the toilet bin emptied 5 times, the tip box appeared on the last day.I put in a euro or two, and put a great deal more in the animal charity box situated in euro travel across the road, and at the airport as i thought the stray animals need greater.I found Denise the manager of the apartments unconcerned about the welfare of the cats in her garden, and i actually went to her supermaket to buy food for them, also people left books on a bench for others to read, but she put a tin there for people to put money in for a cancer charity, but i am not too sure where the money actually went to. If you want a basic place to stay close to the town, then this is what it has going for it.

A good location if you dont like walking to far for the local shops bars and resturants, basic accommodation, sheets and towels only replaced three times in the two weeks, bin emptying and room service random! very basic kitchen and cooking facilities, with one large stew pot and a frying pan, plastic plates and tiny cups that you cant get your finger in the handle, so worth taking some mugs with you, as I had to buy one just to get a decent size cup of tea, sadly the weather changed the day after we arrived, they had had no rain for 5 months, however on our second day the heavens opened and from then on it was hit and miss with one good day and one not so good.
The two main beds I found to hard, however for some reason our room had 3 beds and the third one (a bit like the story of the three bears) I found soft enough, the weather change required us to use the blankets, these seemingly are not cleaned that often as I found a corn plaster stuck on my one, and other unidentifiable marks were apparent!
The lady who ownes the apartments seems very friendly, if all is going her way.
We also had the benefit of her famous tip jar appearing on the second to last day, with no security, this required the hire of the safe, this cost 20e for the two weeks.... easy money for the owner!
The beach not the best but ok, as Turtles use it as much as the public, you are restricted where you can sit, within in 5 meters of the sea, and this is policed by the Turtle brigade who monitor the beach every so often, and fire a verbal warning shot if they think you have strayed!
As the £ is now worth less, its worth taking teabags and other light food items as costs are now rising year on year... good luck to all who go!

the apartments are just off the main road opp drunk corner & behind Denise supermarket. We found them basic but clean , although we could have had a little more maid service
Denise was lovely - very friendly but beware the tip jar which miraculously appears on the last day!
We were quite happy overall given the price we paid and would consider staying there again

My partner and I booked for 2 weeks at the Denny's Inn in Kalamaki, be warned we thought we were staying at the Denny's Inn but we ended up in Dennys Apartments. These are not the same as we found out. Our travel operator had shown us the Denny's Inn which looked beautiful but the Dennys Apartments were the opposite.
There was no reception and no pool. We had to wait for our room as it was not ready, this was at 6.45am after travelling on a night flight. We were then told to pay 40 euros if we wanted to hire a fan as there was no air conditioning in the room. The fan was rusty and didn't touch the surface on the heat. The room was extremely basic even for Greece. We would say it was 'dingy'. Denise cleaned the room when she could be bothered and emptied the bins this way as well. The beds were very uncomfortable, one was actually broken with all the springs sticking up.
We were not flying til late and asked if we could keep our room on and she said no it was none of her business. This was relayed to many other guests. We too were left with a tips jar, we could have given her a tip or two but not a financial one. We had then to find alternative accomodation and we were astonished in the difference in quality. After spending little time in another hotel we did not want the holiday to end, this was the opposite as after 10 days at staying at Denny's Apartments we were wanting to go home. I would recommend no one to book here. Make sure you have the correct accomodation and it has not been mixed up between the Denny's Inn and the Dennys Apartments.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at denny apartments in kalamaki, we were very nervous about the standard of the apartments having read some of the other reviews posted, however on arrival were very pleasantly suprised. The apartments were set in very nice gardens and were bright and well decorated, the owner denise met us on arrival and was very nice and helpful, the apartment itself was big enough for us(2 adults and one six year old!) the balcony was big and the apartment looked newly decorated. there were a few cracks around in the bathroom but nothing unusual for greece! we have stayed on various greek islands and would say that these apartments compared just as favourably to any of these. the only thing i would say as a down side is the problem with mosquitos, which is a widespread problem on the island, we did get bitten a lot, despite having a plug in repellant and spray on as well. however if you do go to the local pharmacy which gave us a great cream to help with the itching! the apartments are set in a great location in kalamaki, being a minute away from the main strip with the majority of bars and restaurants, but are still quiet, and if you carry on down the road you can walk to the beach past a great restaurant and bar, the pool next door which you can use was also great and had plenty of sunbeds which you didnt have to pay to use, all they ask is that you buy your drinks from the very nice bar there.dennys has had some bad reviews but i dont think you should be put off, go and make your own mind up like us and hopefully you will have a great time like we did.
