never again!
from thejonoman
This is the most digusting hotel I have ever stayed in during my life. The bathroom was small and toilet didnt flush. I had to hold the usually cold shower. The breakfast was an absolute disgrace,if you could call two toasters, out of date milk, and stale bread a breakfast. The women on reception were the most unfriendly staff i have ever experinced, they would rather chat among themselves than offer a respectable service. The night porter was very unwelcoming and uncomprising. The view from my balcony was a main road. The swimming pool had green mould around the side. I would never return to this hotel as long as a live and i would advise everyone to stay away for this vile hotel.
Never again!

ummm where to start? The hotel was very dirty, i never once saw the pool being cleaned. The staff are rude( with the exception of the male who worked at recepetion at night ) and where not really interested. The room where very basic, dirty cupboards and the toilet had the loudest flush in history. You also have to pay for air conditioning and a fridge, surely they should be standard? Breakfast was a complete joke, not hot food. Only bread ( with one toaster ) , froasties, tea and milk..... mouth-watering, oh and did i mention you are not allowed to sit near the pool area in the evening unless ur buying a drink? ummm i think i bought a room. The only positive thing i can say is the location is pretty good , close to everything. Anyway, just dont go?
Hotel Ikaros never again
from mshiach
We arrived at the hotel early in the morning (7:30am) we were a large group of 8 people and we had booked 4 rooms 3 of which were together on the 1st floor and 1 of which was on the basement floor, unfortunetly this was the one i was stuck with. I walked into the room which had the most un safe lock on it i have ever seen in a hotel and was immedietly hit with the overwhelming stench of urine from the toilet which i then tried to flush and could not get rid of the choking smell, there was also a gap under the doors leading out to the balcony and the catch did not work at the bottom so it was extremely unsafe, we had to keep the safety shutters closed at all times which ment no light came into the room all day. I went and informed the American woman on reception that we were unhappy with the room and if there was a possibility that we move, she firstly seemed offended and then was extremely rude and baisically said that is all she had and we were stuck with it. The hotel would also take the opportunity to squeeze money out of you at every point they could, we were there for 2 weeks so the extra costs were 70 euros for the air conditioning 40 euros for the safety deposit box and 40 euros for the fridge that is advertised in your room in the brochure, also the sunbeds are extremerly uncomfortable so if u want to sunbathe in comfort there is a cost for a cushion at an extra 1.50 euros per day. The breakfast that is also included in the cost when you book is put on at a stupid time in the morning (8:30-9:30) so if you do not make it you have to buy something from the pool bar. Even if you do get up for it it is 2 toasters on the table, stale bread, warm fruit juice, dirty plates and if you sit down and are lucky they will bring you a bread roll and some cheese and ham. the rooms are also rarely cleaned and after 5 days of being there we still hadn't had our bins changed and when you are not allowed to put the toilet paper down the toilet you can imagine how unpleasent this was I had to go and complain at reception to get them changed. When the rooms are "cleaned" it was just a case of them changing the sheets which were sometimes dirtier than the ones they had taken off! There is much more I could say about this hotel but I really won't bore you any further as I think you probably get the point i'm trying to make. The good points are that the pool is a nice size however is never cleaned and has scum floating on top of it, and the pool bar staff are really nice and friendly, also the resort of laganas is a good lively young persons resort. After reading the reviews of Hotel Ikaros on this site before going I Thought it may be an OK hotel, however it is not!!!! do youself a favour and steer clear of hotel Ikaros you will thank me.
Nice resort, hotel dissapointing

Me and my friend visited Greece for the first time this year and were very excited. We are both 18 year old females and therefore were looking for a good nightlife and lots of sun. Lagana definately provided us with this as it has a great range of clubs and bars with very cheap drinks. It was also very hot. However, this hotel was a big dissapointment. Although we thought we were getting quite a good deal you have to pay extra for EVERYTHING! Sun mats are a cost every day, air conditioning is 7 euros a night, the hotel was also advertised with a fridge in the room however, this is not so and we were told we have to pay daily for the use of a fridge!!! Safes are also an extra expense. When we first arrived we didn't have a shower curtain and our balcony light did not work, we informed the reception staff and when we returned from a night out found our light to be working however, we also found that my I-iop and some other possessions were missing!!! When we informaed the hotel staff they were not interested and were very rude. We ended up having to visit the police station 3 times and pay 30 euros for a police statement!!! The rooms are not claened very often and you are lucky if you get new sheets and towels every 3 days! The pool area was ok as the pool is a nice size however, it also is not very clean and loud music is played from the pool bar with english adverts that we thought we were escaping! The holiday itself was great however, i would advise against this hotel espically for families with young children. If you are eating out the best restraunts are along the beach front. Very nice place called Med Version if you turn right along the beach at the end of the main strip.
An OK place to stay
from A TripAdvisor Member
We have just returned from a two week stay at Hotel Ikaros, Lagana, Zante, Greece (myself and my partner). To sum up the holiday, I would say that we had a great time, Lagana is a great place for night life and we enjoyed our two weeks. To sum up the Hotel Ikaros, I would say: It was OK. To be honest, I have stayed in Greece before, and always find the accommodations to be basic so I wasnt really expecting much. The rooms have all you need for a comfortable nights sleep but they are nothing to write home about. I was a bit disappointed with the pool though as I thought it was a bit dirty, but dont get me wrong, it was OK!! I would recommend this hotel to any gangs of lads or lasses who are looking to go away somewhere and enjoy the night life of Lagana with somewhere to rest their head! I wouldnt recommend it particularly for families as in the last week of our holiday the pool was over run with big gangs of lads, so from that point of view, if I had kids, I wouldnt take them there, especially when everyone (including myself!) was coming in very early hours of the morning. Only got up for breakfast once and it was pretty rubbish but the bar area had plenty of snacks and meals available. PS also, wasnt expecting it but we had to pay for air conditioning, 5 euros per night (you will need it!!) and 40 euros for 2 weeks for the safe. Also 30 euros for a late check out room. Kind of bumped up the price of the holiday! To anyone off to Lagana - ENJOY!!

. Stayed at the ikoras hotel for two weeks in september and will not be back been to zante three tomes already and thia time this hotel has been the worst we have ever sayed at. rooms were supposed to be cleaned daily which they were not very clean sheets werent changed very often. breakfast was nothing to write home about beans and toast most mornings with the rare time of you getting rubber scram egg and toast or roll crossian with cheese and ham. you cuold make more toast as toaster was there but didnt work only cooked one side at a time. items went missing from room and perfume etc got used. when complained nothing got done about it. seemed to get ignored. other guests said they had stuff taken also. rooms were advertised with fridge. well if the room had a fridge it must have been invisable cause we didnt have one when asked about fridge got told all rooms do not have fridges only small amount have one well in my opionion it should not be advertised in brochure. hotel pool was nice thats the only thing nice about the hotel. hotel bar was average staff were not very polite but food ok if you were hungry and couldnt be bothered walking far. over all holiday was good but hotel was not..
Wonderful Ikaros

I have just returned from 2 weeks at Hotel Ikaros and I had a wonderful time. The hotel was really nice, run by a Greek family, mainly Mike and Pete (brothers). The hotel itself was cleaned daily and the room was quite spacious, however the bathroom was a bit on the small side, but the shower was good! Watch out for the mosquitos though, as I was eaten alive at night as I had to sleep with the balcony door open! The balcony was a fair size, with table and chairs on it so I sat out and enjoyed a drink at night before going out after a hard day in the lovely pool. The snack bar/ restaurant was lovely, especially the 'Chicago special pizza' and the Crepes! The bar was also really nice, with the 'Cheapest Cocktails in town', starting from 1.99 Euro, with the most expensive being 2.5 Euro from 7pm! The bar staff were really friendly and kept the bar lively until late, 5:30am some nights! The cocktails were really nice too! In a good location and no trouble with noise at night time. Only a short walk to the beach, 10mins max and about the same distance to the main strip in Laganas, where the night life is very lively. Situated in a good location for the restaurants, mostly better on the Kalamaki road and the area near the hotel, rather than those on the main strip, which I didn't like as much. Don't go to the 'Garden of Eden' though as the food was awful here and put me off Greek food for a few days! I know someone who found a hair in their food there! Overall though I had a great holiday and would definitely go back to Hotel Ikaros, booking independently though rather than through a holiday company as its cheaper!

Good hotel with friendly staff
from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Ikaros last year with my parents and aunt. My other aunt and mother in law were in the hotel across the road and the Ikaros was much nicer in both amenities and looks. The staff were brilliant, its a family run business. The family used to own a few diners over in America before selling up and going back home to Greece to start the hotel. The main family members who work there are Mike and Pete (brothers), sometimes their father comes in for a while and on some days Mikes family come down from their house in the hills, the kids playing in the pool and his wife helping Mike. The bartender/chef is also friendly and is good for a laugh (or a game of pool), Niko. Reception staff are also helpful and friendly, rooms all have their own bathroom and moderate balcony. Do however watch out for mozzies, i was eaten alive by them until i figured out why, do not shower right before you leave, leave at least a hour or so between showering and venturing outside. Peaceful at night as they have to take in outside speakers after midnight, and planes arent allowed to fly because the turtles come up on the beach to lay eggs (for this same reason you are not allowed on the beach at night). easy to get a taxi into main town although when we were there, wasnt a lot of good shops. hotel offered good food at good prices. they offered a mixture of cocktails and drinks (you need to try the kamikazee or the 77 sunset strips). we used to get free drinks from mike or free desserts, althought part of the reason may have been due to my parents 3rd returning trip. we didnt go to the Ikaros because of the free food and drink - but how often do you get something for nothing these days? A real family feel to it and once again........friendly and nice staff/owners. If you go.....ask Mike about his Harleys. he's harley mad.
I've read all the mixed reviews about this place before leaving and each has a decent point really. Rooms are pretty basic, beds plus bathroom but to be honest that's all I wanted. Travelled with a group of lads from 19-27 years old, and the biggest complaints were about... more
