Knew exactly what to expect!
7 / 10
Aug 2011, The Basher

I've read all the mixed reviews about this place before leaving and each has a decent point really. Rooms are pretty basic, beds plus bathroom but to be honest that's all I wanted. Travelled with a group of lads from 19-27 years old, and the biggest complaints were about the lack of a fridge, and the fact the shower didn't hang up. There are fridges around, you just have to rent them I think, we didn't even bother trying. Pool area was nice, bar was grand and people who worked there were all quite friendly. Did nearly get kicked out on our first nite but we did make quite a bit of noise and it was all the other party pooper rooms close by that complained...
As for location its pretty awesome, but if you want to avoid most of the people trying to hassle you into their bars just walk as far as the penalty shoot out, win a few if you want, and walk down the laneway right infront of it. This will drop you right into the middle of the strip!
Overall Laganas was class, hotel was just a place to rest and the club life is mental! Can't comment on the supposed free breakfast though, was usually finished when we arrived home....

Where to start with this basic prison hotel. Went into hotel an the reception aslong with its staff was awful, one of the receptionists actually lost my friends key an tried charging him 40 euros for another only to find the maid was using it... Constantly saying about 'fines' due to lack of money for the place to be spruced up. The guy behind reception also likes to spend more time on poker than helping you when needed. And uses a good old bat to keep the noise down when walking into reception. The breakfast is basically bread, ham cheese an juice. Needless to say we went once & that was it, you pay for B&B an you get
The rooms are as plain as can be, and even they need re-painting. 2 beds an a bathroom (Don't expect a fridge or anything fancy) No need to request sea view because lets face it its too far to see it anyway. Our shutter outside the balcony door could be opened even when shut! We also didn get our room cleaned til 4 days into it. Shower wasnt hooked anywhere and was usually cold.
Pool is decent but the 2 'jacuzzis' are stinking. Pool bar does decent food but paying 5 euro for a Kopparberg is such a joke.
Also the 'safes' are on display in reception and not even behind the desk so good luck!
Laganas is definately for anyone 16-25 bu whatever you do, don't book to go here its the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

You can't complain really as it worked out at around £15 pp per night. Yes, the rooms are basic but pretty much what you would expect. I did expect safety deposit boxes, fridges and air con too all be at extra cost, so there were no major surprises.
Only made it to breakfast once, and the "sweaty ham" was less than appetising but the rest was edible. Although we normally stuck to the hotel bar breakfasts where you can have actual fry ups! It is definitely an under 25's hotel, as is much of Laganas.
The nights can be pretty rowdy with many people (including myself) arriving back at the hotel at 6am or later.
The hotel staff were reasonably nice, Not too understanding about a lot of noise though as some of my party found out.
In the bathroom is a bath with a shower head (but nothing to hang it up on) a basin a mirror and a toilet.
A friend and I shared a double room which was on the second floor with a nice balcony overlooking the pool, while the rest of our party were in triple rooms behind the kitchens overlooking wastelands, but they did have rather large rooms!
Hotel is not far from the strip and not far from the restaurants and also not far from the beach! Best Restaurant was probably "Bocca" or "Island restaurant"
On the beach "blue waves" restaurant also does decent breakfasts.
Hotel pool is decent, no problems there, although at night around the pool is a definite smell of sewage!

We arrived with great expectation. The photos on their website showed well appointed rooms and it looked great.Reality kicked in as soon as we saw our room, which at best was a plain, white painted box full of very old beds and furniture. As the brochure stated it had air con, they failed to mention it was at an extra cost of 35 euros a week.I had stated I required a fridge as a medical necessity as I am diabetic (to store insulin)this was not supplied until I coughed up another 21 euros.Safety deposit drawer another 20 euros.
We soon found that the hotel was filled with under 25s and don't get me wrong we enjoy a good night out with the best but a constant stream of returning revellers from 4 am until 8 am every morning prevented us from any sort of decent nights sleep all week.
Breakfast was even more basic than the room, with one,two slice toaster available in the dining room for round about 100 rooms.
We enjoyed our time in Laganas but this hotel is certainly one just for the under 25s who just want somewhere to crash after a long, hard session in a nightclub every night.

It was my first holiday abroad with friends and I was only 16.
Ikaros is a perfect location for the shops, restaurants, beach and main strip where all the bars/clubs are.
I would try and bargain for deals with the different restaurants, because we would be getting main courses, cocktails, shots, garlic bread and 15% some nights.
The best places on a night out to go out I would say would be Cherry Bay, Plus, Rescue and Oceans.
Eventhough our hotel came with breakfast we even tried but didnt make it to breakfast at all. The safety deposit boxes are in the office and I'd recommend you to put your valuables in there. Air Con can be messed with so you dont have to pay for, by just lifting up the front of the Air Con and pressing the button on the right.
I never went to the white party, but I didnt hear very good things about it, so I wouldnt bother if I was you.
The holiday is suitable for young people who want to go on holiday for a good nightlife.
Oh and be careful of the gipseys on nights out and on the beach. They just want your money. Be Careful

Prison Cell Bock

1st o all the staff at the hotel were very friendly and always helpfull. I can not complain about them. I would also like to say a big thank you for their help and service.
However the hotel leaked during the heavy thunderstorm and was a severe health and safety risk. The floors were tiled and this did not lessen the noise of people coming in at 2,3,4 am from clubbing and this was added to by the slamming of the doors. No kettle or drink making facilities in the room. Fridges cost extra to rent, but when you left the room the power supply turned off automatically. Showers were very basic and dangerous, the sink was hanging off the wall, the bathroom light was hanging out of the ceiling. The staff adressed all the issues when they were raised but it still left you wondering
No television in the room. Breakfast was very limited in choice. Air conditioning cost extra. Towels were changed every 2 days and the sheets every 3 days. The pool had slim on the walls. The hotel was in genuine disrepair. Laganas was a total eye sore, dirty grotty and expensive.

We booked our holiday last minute, I read the reviews and thought we'd risk it. We were arrived at the hotel around 8pm and were welcomed by a friendly girl on reception. The room was very basic but it was a fair size, comfortable and clean with a balony looking over a garden area and pool. We went out soon after arriving and found that the location was ideal, just a short walk to both the strip and the sea. Noise at night was a slight problem if we kept the window open, so we choose to keep it shut and be a little too warm but this we thought was better than paying for air con.
The pool area was lovely, the pool was a good size and there were plently of sunbeds and shades. It looked well kept, clean and tidy.
The reviews I'd read didn't make much of the breakfast but we thought it was fine, the eggs were good and so was the greek yogurt and honey. We thought the staff were friendly and helpful and overall we enjoyed our stay. If you are disappointed with this hotel you must remind yourself that you get what you pay for.

As there is a varied mixture of reviews with regards to the standard of the Hotel Ikaros, I hope you find this review unbiased and helpful.
We arrived at the hotel at 1100 on the first day of our holiday to be confronted by a nice pool, we went to the reception to book in and although the staff where very helpful, we did have to wait for the room to be prepared. When we finally arrived in our room we opened the door to find what can only be described as a Greek prison cell with twin bed(when we ordered a double) and a dirty run down bathroom, the room was that bad that on walking in there we knew we had to get out.
My boyfriend went to the reception and again the staff were friendly and without much fuss they changed us to a double room on the second floor. At this time all we wanted was a nice shower and a clean double bed to rest in after our long journey. Luckily the rooms on the second floor appeared to be of a better standard of those downstairs we also noticed there seemed to be more Greeks and Italians upstairs, and the British wre put on the bottom floor.
The second floor rooms were of a better quality this was confirmed to speaking to other British guests. After some rest, we ventured into Laganas , the resort is great with brilliant food, beautiful beaches lots to do for families and young couples. One word of advice avoid the "Garden of Eden" Restaurant the food is microwaved and the kitchen has a rat problem. STAY CLEAR AT ALL COSTS.
Overall the hotel Ikarous is run down, and really should not be a working hotel. It is dirty, shabby and unsafe, with loads of hidden extras. You have to pay 20 Euros for the safe and 35 for the air conditioning and 1 euro for a sunbed by the pool. The breakfast is edible but I suspect visitors to HM prisons get a better menu.
To conclude we don’t want to come across as your typical bad review, we are both in our mid twenties and went for a cheap week in the sun, we had a good time but were happy to leave the hotel at the end of our holiday.

What can I say about the hotel Ikaros, I went with a group of 26 friends in June/July 2009 and it was absolutely fantastic. Firstly when we arrived at 6 in the morning the receptionist man welcomed us to the hotel and gave us a sheet of paper explaining health and safety and prices of extras such as air con, fridges and loss of room keys. He then gave us all rooms and told us where to find them. Now after reading other reviews when I found out we were on the ground floor I was a bit worried, but, our room (Number 8) was amazing. Although we had no shower curtain and our sink was hanging off the wall it didn't matter everything else was fine. The cleaners came in every day to give us clean sheets, but if u wanted clean towels you had to ask for them. Even though the breakfast was included we were never up early enough to get it, however u can get an excellent full english breakfast in the hotel bar for just €5. The hotel overall was very clean and all the staff made us feel very welcome and the pool was brilliant, plenty of sunbeds, and lilos to use. The bar area had free pool and table tennis all day and very good, cheap food as well. The hotel is just 10 minutes walk from the good beach and 15 minutes from the main strip. Also on the way to the strip the street is lined with plenty of great restaurants, where you can get great deals for large groups. I have to recommend the Robin Hood Restaurant just 5 minutes down the road, the food was fantastic and the staff were wonderful we went there 5 times out of the 7. The street also has the quieter bars for those who don't like the clubs. So overall our holiday was amazing and I thank all the staff at the hotel and bar for making our stay one that me and my friends will remeber forever. We will definately be going back in the future.

This hotel was exactly what you can expect from any Greek resort. We stayed at the Ikaros for 1 week and it was great, the pool is lovely & clean and the rooms were cleaned daily and were perfect. The breakfast was ok but a bit early 8.30 -9.30. I travelled with my daughter who is 3 and although there is a kiddie pool, there was nothing else for her at the hotel, this didnt stop her becoming friends with everyone who spoke to her.
I would recommend this to young couples and not families as people tend to go out late and come home in the small hours. ( I am jealous)

Firstly, ignore the reviews below, the hotel is brilliant! When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel looks (we paid pennies for a week B&B so I wasn't expecting much!) The pool is large and very clean. There are plenty of sunbeds for everyone. The bar is lively, has good music and food and offers on drinks day & night. The staff are really friendly we made some good friends while we were out - Tommy the PR- Swindon/Elena/Lampard/Nikki- Bar staff - Mike & Angela the owners. Anna the receptionist & her son Miheal (the DJ) they are all AMAZING!
The rooms are basic - BUT- if you have ever been to Greece before this is normal! You can't expect it to be like the UK! Yes there are a few ants but not swarms of them! They will only come into your room if you have food or drink lying around and if you don't keep it tidy! Our sheets/towels were changed 4 times while we were there and if you are REALLY fussy, you can ask for some clean down at reception!
The location is great, literally 10 mins slow walk to the most gorgeous secluded beach ever! Its really quiet and hardly anyone there. Just over the road there is a quad hire shop and loads of bars and restaurants on the way to the main strip which is about a 15-20 min walk depending on what shoes you have on! ;)
The weather was scorching and there' lots to do. Turtle boat trips, scuba diving, horse riding, watersports, shopping & loads more! The only thing I would say is, MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR SPECIAL OFFERS ON DRINKS AT THE MAIN STRIP! Some places charge 7 euros a drink if you don't push for offers. You should get free shots with every drink in every bar. If you don't, ask for one!
All in all I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Ikaros, its brill! Love Emma & Danielle xxx

Unclean

This is, on the surface a small pleasant family run hotel. The owners and staff are friendly, but, the rooms were the most disgusting we've ever had on a holiday.
The bedding was changed once during our 1 week stay and we had to go shopping to buy cleaning products to clean the bathroom before we could use it.
Laganas as a resort is geared for the Club 18-30, it was packed with drunken teens.
I would go back to Zante, but not Laganas or the Hotel Ikaros.
