First of all, they keep your passports for the whole of your stay (this is illegal actually, they're only allowed to keep them for 2 days at most). This is just so the woman at reception can threaten you at the end to pay up for something they find wrong with the hotel room! And trust me, they will find something wrong with it.
The hairdryers are usually already broken by the time you arrive, but she'll still charge you 20 euros. She'll charge you 30 euros for a dirty towel (bear in mind - it takes them 3 days to change them). She also tried to "scare" us by threatening to charge 200 euro's for a whole new balcony for a bit of chipped paint. If you refuse to pay up - she'll threaten to withhold your passports.
When it comes to the breakfast - don't bother getting up. A continental breakfast that consists of orange juice, bread, cornflakes and butter. Possibly some coffee...if the machine is turned on. And to be fair, the orange juice tastes like vodka, the coffee tastes like [--] and the bread is usually stale. You'd be better off getting something later on at the bar, which is run by different people.
The pool is cleaned often - but the man who does the nightwatch drowned a rat in it.
Also, when you come in, if you dawdle even the tiniest bit - he'll shout at you, telling you to get to your room. You're not allowed to talk to anyone at night and if you sit on your balcony having a cigarette - he WILL watch you until you finish it, and go into your room.
They kicked a group out a day before they were supposed to leave for no reason.
They kicked out another two people out for nothing. And they also kicked me out for no reason, until the barman and a friend persuaded them otherwise. But the problem was - I was DRAGGED OUT BY MY WRISTS...with no suitcase, none of my stuff, no shoes on my feet and no money. All because some people that were previously outside my balcony, talking to me, caused a bit of noise.
The people who own the hotel pretty much decide on day one if they like you or not. And if they don't - then they'll spend the whole time talking about you in greek to each other everytime you walk past, throwing you dirty looks.
Once, the bedsheets were changed...into dirty sheets.
When we first arrived, we had to wait TWO HOURS to be shown to our room, despite constantly asking if it was ready. And when we got there, a man was still grouting the shower.
As a result, I spent as little time as I possibly could at the hotel, and it could've potentially ruined my holiday.
Laganas is amazing for young people, but the Pallas Hotel isn't exactly the greatest place to stay.

laganas is a lovely place to go great clubs and bars but the pallas is a nightmare staff are very rude, 50euro for a fridge and 25 euro for air conditioning, very badly run, and very expensive compare to other hotel bars, would not recommend at all.

The distination itself was great! the nightlife is exciting, brilliant and fun. The area is beautifull and the wheather is fantastic!
but staying in the pallas hotel was a huge mistake.
the owners of the hotel are extremely rude and particularly the receptionist. i have never met such an ignorant and rude woman, it was clear that she did not value her guests. the way myself and my boyfriend were treated was a disgrace and our Budget travel Rep, Fiach was less then helpfull in the matter
the room we were staying in was also in bad shape, the first thing I noticed when I walked in was the hole in our bathroom door. Now, I am a very laid back person, i dont like to complain, but it the duty of the hotel to issue a paying customer with a room that is in order and up to scratch. it is also the Duty of Budget travel to insure that this is the case. i was let down by both parties.
we arrived on Friday 17th, and on wednesday we were approached by the receptionist. she told us that the cleaners had just reported the hole in the bathroom door, saying that it had not been there before. We told her that it had been there on friday, thinking there must be some mistake, when she wouldn't beleive us I was insulted.
How could the cleaners have possibly missed the hole from Friday untill wednesday?
she ordered that we pay 200euro for repairs. when we refused to pay, explaining that we had been nothing but polite and respectfull, we were theatened. we were told that the police would be called, we would be held and our passports withheld from us.
we rang our Budget travel Rep, tried to explain the situation and he refused to come to the hotel.
we were frightened, insulted and at a complete loss as to what to do. we had no support and our holiday was ruined. i felt harassed, treated like a criminal.
and what also bothered me was that they took the door away on thursday for repairs and left me with no door, no option or alternitive room.
i was shocked that these people would treat their guests this way. Paying guests.
and i would warn anyone who is thinking of going there to chose another hotel.

Staying in the pallas hotel was a nightmare.
Myself and my boyfriend arrived on Friday the 17th. we entered our room which was smaller then i had expected and unclean, infact the first thing i noticed was the hole in out bathroom door. but neither myself or my boyfriend are the type who like to complain so we did not mention the hole in the door to any staff.
then on wednesday the 22, the receptionist approached us and tells us the cleaners had just brought the hole in the door to her attention. she was convinced that we had done it and we argued our case, saying that we had been nothing but polite and respectfull to everyone and everything in this hotel. what reason would we have for kicking the door in.
she then had the door removed from our room, leaving me to use the bathroom with no door? i was in disbeleife that they didnt even give us an option or any alternitive room.
she continued to be rude to us and we refused to pay the 200 euro she theataned to call the police and withhold our passports.
i think it is a disgrace that they can be allowed to treat two paying guests who had done nothing wrong like this. and our Rep Fiach was less then helpfull in the matter, infact when we rang him for suppport he refused to even come to the hotel.
i can honestly say this behaviour ruined my holiday and i will never be returning to this desprate excuse of a hotel.

This hotel was great - very clean - staff always available and willing to help - what lets it down is the breakfast which truly is not worth getting up for. A tip - take your own coffee and you can add water to it instead of their coffee.
Location was lovely and peaceful. The strip is horrid but thankfully in May is very quiet. If you want good tavernas - turn left at bottom of lane and walk along - there are several which have varied menus and are reasonable prices. The beaches in that area are nothing to write home about but take the free bus to St Nicholas beach - it is fabulous and there is a hotel there whose facilites you can use if you buy a drink. Also a must must must for a relaxing morning/afternoon or all day ! got to Cameo Island at the end of the main beach - fantastic - only 4 E to get on it which buys you a free drink anyway.
Hotel is not far at all from anywhere and only took us 8 minutes to bottom of lane and about 13 to the beach.
Would recommend this holiday and hotel - but if you are over 30 suggest go out of season. Weather was beautiful and we went in the sea and the pool.
Enjoy!

We have spent two weeks at this hotel 21/05/09 to 04/06/ must be the friendliest/cleanest hotel in Laganas and will definatley go back again in the future.
just read this for service, on my arrival at the airport ,I relized I had left my wallet in our room, after phoning the hotel and explaining the situation I asked one of the owners wives if they could send it by taxi to tha aiport ,20 minutes later one of the owners arrived with my wallet with just a smile on his face . Where else on holiday would this happen.THANK YOU BABBI.
Don't miss the Bar B Q on Saturdays, for 10 euros what a night for quality and quantity of food and entertainment, and what a great way to meet other holiday makers. (You must join in). You may pay 40 or 50 cents more for some drinks but compared to the Strip you no you have had a drink so go for it. For 2.50 euros you can have bacon & eggs for breakfast very tasty (not british bacon) but if you want British stay home. Bar snacks for lunch very good value and very good.
this hotel is a must in all aspects.

We have been going to the Pallas Hotel in Laganas for the past 18 years and we simply love it. The hotel is spotlessly clean, it is situated near enough to the "strip" for a short walk, but not too near to the noise so that you cant sleep. There has been many improvements to the hotel over the years but its the warm and friendly welcome you receive when you arrive from the fabulous Xenos family where this hotel stands out from the rest. You are in a minority if you have only been to the hotel once - every year we are met by more and more friends by the pool bar or at breakfast - who come back year after year. Everyone is greeted with sincere friendship and the family can not do enough for you to make your holiday the most memorable and special time of the year.
The main public areas are glass, mirrors and local marble and the bedrooms are cleaned maticulously by staff who have been with the hotel for many years. Although safety deposit boxes are available, security isn't an issue. I was very disappointed to read another review about a theft from a room acusing a cleaner - I happened to witness a theft at the hotel when I was there one year - but the item was eventually returned by a guest!! Greek people are very trusting and this is very refreshing after having been all over the world - where you are followed around souvenir shops.
The bar food offered is of excellent quality and caters for English tastes as does the breakfast although there is Greek food available on the menu.
A must for any visitor is the BBQ night. The food is very good indeed, very tasty and the entertainment (Greek Dancers who get everyone involved with Disco to follow) is excellent value for money. There is also Kareoke night and Quiz/Bingo night.
Greek people are well known for their hospitality but the Hotel Pallas and the Xenos family make your stay with them unforgettable, special and you just cant wait to come back next year.

Well what can i say about the Pallas hotel! stayed here for 2 weeks in july 2008 had my 19th birthday here and my partners 20th birthday absolutley loved laganas as a resort just not the pallas hotel.
The hotel itself was lovely very clean and tidy rooms were very nice considering its greece and were cleaned everyday noise is kept to a minimum at night and if you even make the slightest noise when cuming in after a night out you get wrong, ironic how it is laganas known for nightclubs and groups of young people think the oldest person on the resort must of been 40.
The hotel breakfast isnt up to much just continental, bread, jam, cereal, however there is a nice british bar which charge 5 euros at the end of the country lane the hotel is situated on which is not lit on a night time so i wouldnt walk up there alone also opposite the hotel is cockrals and two donkeys.
We hired a safe to put our valuables in like jewellery and phones ect but wouldnt trust the cleaners as far as i could through them after going shopping into zante town buying a couple of gifts for my niece (a bellybar, earings and watch) leaving them beside the bed amongst other gifts when it came to packing me suitcase the day before we were due to go home noticed they were missing so emptied everything out of my case and room checked my cousins room who was right next door they were knowhere to be found after asking the cleaner nicely if she had seen them she picked up the phone and told me to speak to reception after being told to go down to the reception as they didnt understand what i meant i was accused of being a lier this has never happened in this hotel before and i was the only one to be saying stuff like this and this was very hurtfull as you can imagine i was very annoyed by this point at the fact i was being called i lier and that is defo one thing i am not we had an argument.
After feeling so uncomfortable after that in the hotel we did not stay during the day went to my friends hotel up the road and just went back to sleep, on our last night waiting for the coach to pick us up we had a couple of games on the pool table and being a family owned hotel they were all there looking at us and talking about us in thier own language when asked if they had a problem with myself and my group she started shouting at me again which lead to another argument between myself and her.
So i advise anybody staying in this hotel to keep a close eye on your belongings oh and sweets because they get eaten aswell but apart from that everything was fine and laganas as a resort is fab going back in sep 2009 not in the same hotel obviously. If your looking for a quite night kalamaki is good and there is a god kareoke bar there.

I went with my boyfriend for my 18 for two weeks and its was our best holiday weve been on. The hotel was defently the best in the area because it wasnt far from the main strip and was out of the way of the drunken noise that went on till al least 8am. We never had a problem with the hotel, it was a little pricey though. But we brought our water from the shop just down the road. We ate out everynight due to all the amazing resturants avaliable. Bocca is a lovley mexican resturant, (try the fijitas)
The staff were lovley and always wanting to help. The only shock was we were told no groups but that was all that was there, the odd couples and one family.
The hotel were very nice to give me a free bottle of champane for my 18 and written 'happy birthday' on the mirror of out studio for when we arrived. We asked for a studio when we booked it, i dont know if it was extra but the price was good. So we got a fridge, oven and cooking equipment.
the hotel was very clean, shower tiny and cold but that really wasnt a problem for us because it was so hot.
We went on many excursions and loved everone of them, the best priced was for 6euros to zante town and a winery. One tihng we found out its not worth doing the glass bottomed boats for 20euros each to see the tutrles, take a pedelo for a few hours and smoe snokles, we saw so many tutrles and got to swim with them where as the people on the boat could bearly see. we went out with a pedelo about 5 times and saw 3 turtles each time.
Over all the Pallas hotel is deffently the best hotel in Laganas and i stronly recomend it. It deserves more than 3 stars.

Just got back from Hotel Pallas. 2 words never again!! The hotel is about a mile from resort and if you like being woken up every morning about 5.30 am this is the hotel for you as the local cockerels were our alarm clocks!!! Breakfast consists of dusty cereal and toast we didnt always bother. The staff were not very friendly seemed as though they couldnt be bothered!! They serve snacks during the day but everything stops about 6pm. It poured with rain one evening but we still had to brave the weather if we wanted to eat. They charge 80 cents for a small bottle of water which is 30 cents at the shop if you can be bothered to take the mile hike to get it. If you want to be pampered do not use this hotel. We need a holiday to get over the holiday!!!

Stayed at the pallas for a week in August 2009, didn't have any serious concerns if i'm honest, especially if you're on an 18-30 holiday then i don't think theres anything wrong with a hotel that's a bit basic! everywhere very clean, breakfast was rubbish however, we only woke up for it on one day, go self catered! didn't have any problems with 'having to keep the noise down' or anything like that, we went out every night and had no problems returning in the small hours either. bar staff were lovely, cheap snacks on offer aswell.
the only person i wasn't too sure about was the woman at the front desk as many people have said, not the nicest! also the towel on the floor of bathroom spent the whole week really quite damp, only hung out to dry some days and felt awful. bedding was basic but clean, and in such weather you don't want much - the air conditioning was incredibly pricey so we spent 7 nights in extreme humidity. then again, if youre going to zante at the peak of summer then you should know what you're getting into!
hotel is in a fantastic location, close enough to get to the strip within 3-5 minutes but means you can easily get away from it all if you want to. the road to and from, however, is not well lit at night and on either side are fields/trees, i would have been running if i had to walk it alone!
our rep from thomas cook was fantastic, although we missed one of our day trips due to being told the wrong meeting time, slightly disappointing but it was dealt with brilliantly, we received a genuine apology and full refund with no hassle.
hotel did not seem to have a problem with groups, there were a few when we were there but mainly couples i found, and one or two families. all in all, if you're looking for luxury this isn't it, but if you want to actually get out and experience the resort (surely what a holiday is for?) then the pallas is great, it serves its purpose and i would return.
