Submitted By: Mr A SandersBehind the door (that jammed everytime it was opened or closed) was a big open plan kitchen/dining/living room with a big puddle on the floor. We dropped our suitcases off and went to reception and told them of the problem, they didnt seem too surprised but said they would send a maid over to mop it up, which was promptly done. A towel was placed under the door to prevent further leaking. We later learned we had arrived in the middle of a bad storm and they had received alot of rain over the past few days.
The apartment had 2 large sized twin rooms each with the beds pushed together. Both rooms had plenty of storage and the dressing table with mirror was a nice touch. A separate sink room with mirror led through to the bathroom with a bath/shower, toilet, sink and bidet. The apartment also had a large 2-part balcony with 2 sunloungers and a table with 3 chairs.
The kitchen had a 4ring electric hob and fridge-freezer, but not enough room to cook unless you used the dining table to prepare food. Plenty of cutlery and plates but only 5 small tumblers.
After more storms through the night we awoke to a bigger puddle in front of the door, surprisingly the towel used to stem the flow had not worked. Another trip to see the grumpy receptionist, who again, wasnt surprised. She added our name to a list for the maid to visit and dry up. This was dealt with promptly once again. After this there was no more rain so we had no further problems.
Apart from a lack of windows, the apartments overall were good. The bedding was not changed in the 7 days we were there and the towels only once. Bins were emptied and the apartment given a quick clean everyday.
The pool was pretty big although it had no heating and was pretty much unuseable being the end of season. There was also a serious lack of sunloungers, which were customarily reserved from early in the morning for the whole day. If you arrived after 10am you had no chance of getting one
The bar was typically overpriced, 3 euros for a large beer (Tagus). A 30 second walk from the hotel was a cafe selling San Miguel for 1.20 euros. And dotted about were bars selling them for 1euro all day, although some increased the prices at night time. Food was also expensive. snack bars dotted around offered better food and much better value.
Overall it was a good holiday, the apartments were quite good but the 'we are only interested in your money' attitude spoiled it a little bit. No matter where you stay in the vacinity, definitely watch one of the weekly bullfights, they are well worth the price.

Submitted By: Miss S BainWe really liked these apartments couldn't fault them at all, was rereading back some of the previous reviews just now, and some people are just out to fault anything!!!!
The room was very spacious, we booked a studio room, but the bedroom was seperate and was very spacious with a big wardrobe and desk with mirror and chest of drawers at each side, there was also a cupboard in the hall. The rooms were very modern and up to date. In the kitchen there were 2 hobs, and a small oven, not that we really used them, found it quicker to heat up the water for a cup of tea by boiling the water in a pot, as the whistling kettle took too long, but that wasn't a problem!
We had a room overlooking the pool, the pool was massive and there were plenty of loungers, the pool got the sun the whole day, and there were still people lying sunbathing at 6pm.
We didn't go down to any of the entertainment, but there were things on every night.
The main strip was a 5 minute walk from the apartments, but well enough away that you couldn't hear any noise.
Would definitely recommend these apartments to anybody!

Submitted By: Mrs HensonPool snack bar excellent service with good selection of food on offer at a reasonable price. The pool was cool but refreshing and of an excellent size. Children's pool was also good for those that needed it.
We ate out every night at a very reasonable price and the selection of food available was good. Can highly recommend the mexican restaurant located approx 20m from hotel (on the main road) Very friendly...freebies too if you visit frequently!
Beach was advertised as 1km away...felt like 5 and not sign posted. However, there is no need to leave the complex as adequate facilities there. We joined the fitness suite for the 2 weeks we were there.Basic but the jacuzzi was well worth it..really nice to relax in after a day in the sun!
Looking at returning this year but only as a last minute deal again. Dom Pancho does exactly what it says on the tin...cheap clean and very affordable. Great holiday!!

Submitted By: Mrs M LaughranWe had to pay 30 Euros 15 for a TV remote and 15 for the air conditioner to heat the room which only kicked in after 3 days so in the meantime we huddled under blankets, as the weather wasn't too great. We ended up in a second room as the first room had single beds and we were on honeymoon (easy enough mistake) but when we told the reception next day about the single beds we were told we should have said the previous night on arrival and threw another key at us and in broken English we were told to try this one.
Which we did but the room hadn't been prepared for us (once again we didn't have a problem with this as we weren't expected there) however when the maids were asked to tidy the room a heated debate broke out between them in front of us which was rather uncomfortable.
Our new room was at the rear end of the hotel where the bins got emptied almost every day(of our four day stay there as we couldn't take any more and found alternative accommodation)at 3 am in the morning and when we did eventually get to sleep the toilet cistern put paid to that with its constant whining.
Right outside our front door were two hand towels catching drips of water coming through the roof and were still there when we left. When we couldn't get hot water for a shower we were told to run all the taps full for 10 mins until the water got hot but it only ever got warm, and when I took a shower the shower curtain pole decided to fall onto my head, and when we complained once again to reception we were told" well we have hot water down here". We met other people there who were less than happy with the service and were trying to escape. On speaking to a local apparently the attitude of Dom Pancho staff were to put pensioners and elderly there and they were less likely to complain.
When we checked out 4 days later we once again voiced our complaints to the reception only to be greeted by a frosty attitude by a rather rude abrupt Portuguese lady saying we complain too much. I would never recommend these apartments to anyone in fact I would advise strongly against it never mind Portugal as in whole I found them quite rude and arrogant. If it’s a great holiday you’re looking for avoid here by all costs and either stick to what you know best or try USA or somewhere. A HUGE THUMBS DOWN FOR DOM PANCHO. Ps flyglobespan weren't much help either.

Submitted By: Miss L PagetThere had been some excellent changes to the apartment. A lovely new massive entertainment room with comfy sofa's and chairs and a stage and a lovely new bar.
Also a lovely big snack room serving lovely food. We had excellent weather (the best October for 6 years!) pure sunshine every single day!
The only downfall was drinks and snacks around the pool were very expensive (£1.50 for a can of coke!) but there is a supermarket opposite so I suggest you stock up from there as its cheaper.
Also towels only changed every 4 days and bed every 8 days, apart from that room was cleaned and moped everyday with bins emptied and bathroom cleaned.
This apartment is in a great location. Very quiet but 2 min walk to the lively strips. 10 min walk to the beach (bit of a hill though bring your walking shoes)2 min walk from ball ring. 20 min from zoo marine ( which is excellent highly recommend going there it’s amazing!).
Overall lovely apartments to stay in make you feel welcome and have a great karaoke on a Thurs, sat and sun! Would recommend for anyone any age!

Submitted By: Miss S HornWhen we first arrived we were told our rooms would not be ready for another 3 hours so we had to leave our cases in the lobby and go and sit in a local cafe for a few hours after a long day travelling.
Although I never tried the hotel snack bar or restaurant I heard the snack bar did not have much to offer, we usually just ate on the main strip which is about a 15 minute walk away, although there is a handful of shops and restaurants on the street where the hotel is situated.
The rooms themselves were really nice and had recently been refurbished with new modern furniture, new kitchens and bathrooms and were cleaned almost on a daily basis.
The apartments were quite a walk away from the beach which was mostly down steep banks which meant on the way back it wasn’t something to look forward to. We found it was quite hard getting taxis in the area as there was always long queues at the ranks and we were often told by the hotel that there was none left when we asked for one to be booked.
Also the biggest issue for us during our stay was the sun loungers around the pool area. There was not nearly enough for half of the guests staying, so it was a dash at around 6am to get a couple. We only had some for 1 day while we were there, so we ended up on the grass most days which was swamped with mud for the last 3 days after a full day of rain unfortunately.
The entertainment of a night time was very poor especially for children there was nothing for them the whole time we were there!

Submitted By: Mrs M WhitworthWe arrived late on a Sunday night to an Elvis tribute down in the hotel bar and it didn’t improve over the two weeks.
The rooms are comfortable and clean, pool area well maintained but a bit short of sunbeds so need to get down early if you want one.
Snack bar food very good and staff very friendly.
Out and about loads of restaurants close by with very good prices on both food and drink.10 minute walk to main strip with shops restaurants and bars, some very lively but something for everbody.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Submitted By: Miss T HutchinsThis hotel is in ideal location for the lively strip and other bars that are along same road as hotel, some of these bars were run by Portuguese so were cheaper for both food and drink.
On arrival we only had to wait 20 minutes before getting room considering we got there at 11:00hrs this was great.
Overall great 3 star hotel, and it is even being refurbished this winter so will be even better next year.

No frills, cheap as chips but well positioned for a short walk either to the strip or to some quieter bars immediately in front of hotel. Would recommend noddy bus to old town for 3 euros - travel all day. Kilt and kelt pub on way to strip serves chicken pie to die for. My husband had the haggis and neeps and loved it too. Some great bars on the strip - watch out for ticket sellers, but you get them anywhere.

Weather was 30 degrees and dry every day. Great restaurants in old town and steps bar had fantastic singer on every night but Tuesday. I could go on. Dom Pancho is exactly as it says on the tin. Cheap, clean and ideally situated to travel on foot to bars etc. Brilliant. <br>
