Kalina Gardens Hotel

Good points: Big rooms, clean enough. Rooms cleaned and towels replaced daily. Good location. Pleasant pool area.
Bad points: . Bathrooms need cleaning up, grouting all black, toilets leak onto floor constantly. Only one bar open and only offers about five drinks on all inclusive. Lobby bar never open, gym never open. No BBQ available. Lifts break two or three times a day. Food is awful, cold, sloppy and repetitive. Milk was off twice. Canteen atmosphere. No drinks available during meals unless you go to bar and queue up yourself. About 60 sun beds for a hotel that can have over 700 people in it during high season.Reception where jeans and dirty jackets and never smile. Big sign says about booking your room extension for departure day, hotel wouldn't let us have one even though not full, advised didn't have courtesy room we could book either and luggage room not big enough for everyone so we had to check out at 12 midday and keep luggage until we were picked up at 1am.
4th trip to sunny beach in four years. Will never stay at kalina gardens again. Very disappointing and ended up eating out elsewhere and didn't stay at hotel bar because no atmosphere minimum staff and a list of about three drink options. Spent a fortune even though had already paid for all inclusive!!

got moved here from the wela because it was over booked but This hotel was horrifying!!! not one good thing i could say about this hotel!! i dont know how anyone could ever say this hotel is a 4 star!! i would NOT advise anyone to ever stay at this hotel!!
There was definately NOT enough sunbeds around the pool,i had to get up at 7am to get a sunbed.
the food was standard,very repetive and VERY cold!
The bar kept running out of vodka,wine and coke and it closed at 11pm.
Alot of drunk young germen men coming home at 5am in the morning,running up and down the corridors, banging and shouting.
downstairs they were mopping the floors with dirty mops at 9pm when it was busy and slippy, with no wet floor signs!We were lucky to have the cleaner empty the bin and the ash tray!! she did do the towels and that was about it !
Well we also got robbed while we were stayin at the hotel!! One day we double locked the door and went out for the day to the beach,when we returned back to our room the door was unlocked and our case had been cut open and £350 had been stolen!! it wasnt a forced entry either so somebody had a key !! The hotel mangeress didnt care and did nothing about it!
The receptionists had an additude that stinks and didnt really care about any problems or complaints.
Definately the worst holiday i have ever had, prefered turkey alot better!
To much crime and noise around in this area aswell.
DO NOT stay in this hotel unless your a young germen person, that doesnt mind noise and doesnt mind taking the risk of a robbery!
RUBBISH!! NEVER STAY IN THIS HOTEL.

For a start this hotel doesn't deserve a 4 star rating. The receptionists were rude and dealt with complaints like zombies. Air-conditioning were poor, one of the receptionist said it takes 2 hours to cool, yeh right....during the night, everyone woke up with sweat dripping off us so we had to sleep with the patio doors opened, impossible as it was so noisy by drunks coming back from clubs at 6am and 24 hour supermarket across the road! Even tho we had complained about the air-con it wasn't done until we requested for 2 electric fans (after day 3) that's when they must've turned it to cool setting. The rooms were clean and bathroom spotless, a job well done by the cleaners. Although we did encountered a beetle strolling across the room and armies of ants on the balcony, but thats minor probs only because it was our fault for attracting them in the first place with dropped crisps on the floor! Luckily the balcony's were cleaned daily.
Food were bland, bland, bland. Totally inedible, overcooked and lack of food particularly ice creams and watermelons. People rush to get these thinking there's going to be a food shortage and they're not half wrong! Although I must commend the baker for his/her excellent desserts and the restaurant staff for being helpful.
Don't expect entertainment! Karaoke night is very quiet, if you want live shows in the open air go across the road to Iberostar, top quality entertainment for everyone.
Finally Sunny Beach is a lively place for everyone, beach right outside your doorstep, loads of shopping, eating out is cheap, fantastic price for watered down beer at 1 lev a pint!! Hope this review helps!

moved to this hotel because Wela hotel overbooked. large clean room,excellent air con,excellent bathroom and cleaned daily. very good hotel apart from the dining room service and poor quality food, never enough cups at breakfast and food sometimes barely warm. still you are getting a value for money as it is a very cheap holiday. tried eating out in resort and we generally were disappointed, poor quality and not a vegetable in sight

Just returned from Sunny Beach for 1st time and felt it necessary to add a few comments - never done this before.
Whilst the resort itself has so much going for it, fantastic beach and so much to do, please everyone bear in mind the food may not be to your liking!
We stayed at the Kalina Gardens, located in a good position with excellent prices at the bar and in their shops.
However, the food was pretty dire - same thing every day and never hotter than luke warm and fairly disinterested, untrained staff. Unfortunately this led to fraying tempers, mostly by the German guests, when there were no cups, coffee, hot water etc which was met by shrugged shoulders, apathy and, for the guests, poorly stomachs.
I've travelled all over the world and can honestly say I've never felt the need to make such comments. Having ventured out one night hoping for a decent meal, again we were sadly disappointed. But, we were very lucky in that we were neither robbed nor mugged.
This seems to be a very common occurrence in Sunny Beach and must be stamped out before all the thousands of other rooms currently under construction, are filled.
Most of the bar staff were more welcoming as were the girls in the Optic shop and the Doctor was brilliant!!! We have since spoken and met many people who've recently visited Bulgaria but will not be returning - majority of us preferring the hospitality in Turkey.
Please Bulgaria take note - you have a bit more work to do with staff training to include smiling and get rid of the crime, then and only then will we think of returning.
