Comments:  This hotel is beautiful and in a prime location. We were about the only English that we knew of during our stay. There's no evening entertainment to speak of, but if your after a chilled out hol then it's perfect. The food is plentiful with variety. We had to ask to be moved to another room (room great) but there was no view. Reception did not argue, I think the block 3 or 4 starting numbers are the furthest away, so don't be afraid to ask. The second room was fab overlooking the pool surrounded by flowering foliage. Aircon great, free safe, fresh towels and room cleaned every day. TIPPING - we gave the porter 5 pound coins to which he was grateful but asked if he could swap it for 50 EP at end of week. I understand the point cause their difficult for them to cash seemingly. Mohammed the head barman is great, polite and so helpful. In all we gave him 50 EP on three occasions totalling £15 in all, he see's you okay with the drinks then....:-) Leaving the hotel about 20ft outside is the duel carriageway from hell! Every other car has no lights on and the speed limit is out the window. You do get across but be careful if you have little ones/prams. NOW into Naam Bay - there's plenty shops, we wanted to check out as many as poss to compare quality and price. The main bug bare, was to be frank, the locals forever pestering you to come to their shop. They walk up to you and follow alongside - La Shok-ran 'no thankyou' should work but good luck - it's a shame really cause personally if they weren't so much in your face I would have hung around shopping till I dropped, but when I did need to go buying it was like take a deep breath - in and back - literally! Don't fall for being asked to come and write some good luck token for them, it's a ploy. Try and remember that their currency is 10x£1 - I was stung buying a stone ashtray and cat I paid £30 or 300 EP I wasn't thinking cause I wanted the stuff. EXCURSIONS - we arranged to meet the Rep to book a trip by air to Cairo to see the Pyramids/Sphinx. The price was £162 each. We decided to sleep on it cause he wouldn't budge with the price. Next day we were approached by an employee of the hotel if we were interested in the same excursion and that he could get it cheaper. He explained that there is 20+ company's all offering the exact same trip but all different prices. His price was £115 each, we gave our room number and names. The folloiwng day he came back with a receipt and were told to be in the reception for 4.30am! Hard going, however bang on time a suit clad tall handsome fella came and asked us our names, checking us on his list. Very polite and professional. We were taken to the airport to catch the 6am flight to Cairo. One hour later a bunch of us were met by a guy holding up a board with 'Sharm Voyages'. He divided us into two groups for an English speaking guide. What an experience from the get go - Cairo is mental. Three lanes of traffic holding six across at a time, road rage out the window! Peep peep language, but it works. Our driver/guide were great to which we gave them 50 EP each at end of the day. We also visited the Papyrus factory. Quite good really, interesting but probably over priced. I learned so much on the way to the Pyramids, approaching them and WOW jaw dropping - don't go all the way to Egypt and not go to see them as it's a once in a lifetime experience. The largest bricks are about the size of a Landrover! Approaching the Sphinx, again the sweaty hairs on the back of your neck try to stand up. I could go on but please see for yourself...I took germ gel which I used all the time, I still ended up with a jelly belly on the second last day. The chemist have these tablets, yellow in colour for a couple of quid. Sorted within a day. I would go back to this hotel, probably in the Winter time.

Comments:  Reading previous comments, it would appear that there is some confusion about the 2 Ghazala Hotels. The Ghazala Beach Hotel is the 3 star sister hotel of the Ghazala Gardens 4 star plus hotel - this was the hotel which unfortunately suffered a bomb attack in 2005.

I have just returned from the Ghazala Gardens Hotel and cannot praise it enough. The hotel is ideally situated and visually stunning. Everywhere is spotless with all areas being washed day and night. There is even a fake beach within the grounds at the edge of the most incredible pool which winds its way throughout the gardens and can be crossed via several bridges. We had a slight mix up with rooms on our first night but this was addressed and thereafter I found the staff helpful and very friendly. Things do take a while and service is not 5 star but they are trying and will get there eventually.

We went all inclusive which was ideal as eating out and drink is expensive. There are 3 inclusive restaurants with extras that you can pay for and 1 a la carte. All local beers, wines and spirits by the glass are free all day and night up to midnight. Once you get used to the local spirits, especially if they are in cocktails they're not that bad. The local beer is nice and if you are a white wine drinker either add soda or drink rose which is less of a shock to the system. The red is ok but not very good for the head! There is plenty of choice although the food would get a bit repetitive if there for 2 weeks.

We ate out at the Hard Rock Cafe (good value) and Little Buddha (same prices as home although drinks expensive) for a change. With regards to upset tummies, 1 of our party suffered for a couple of days but is always out of sorts when away from home. The rest of us were fine and very few other guests had problems.

The entertainment was interesting, needs at bit of work but the animation team worked very hard between both hotels. We did go to their show at Ghazala Beach and spoke to some of the guests there who were less than pleased with their hotel - Several said they would return to Sharm but would stay at Ghazala Gardens.

We are already planning a return trip in March and will definitely return to the Ghazala Gardens.

Comments:  This was my first time to Egypt so didn't know what to expect, I was amazed at how beautiful the hotel was and being a fussy eater wasn't sure whether I would find much to eat, but it wasn't hard, there is so much choice.

The staff are so friendly (even without tipping them). Naama bay itself is a bit of an eye opener I couldn't believe how busy it gets at night. There were only a couple of things that let this holiday down for me and my partner, one of them being lack of excursion choice unless you want to pay a lot of money. We did book one excursion through the my travel rep, but it failed to turn up twice, even though we waited in reception for up to an hour on both occasions, we eventually had our money back. The other thing is the road outside the hotel is an accident waiting to happen, the drivers rarely stop at crossings, but they either flash at you or put their hazard lights on, some drive at you on purpose, my partner had to grab a little girl who's parents had already walked across, if he hadn't she would have surely been hit, so you have been warned!

Apart from those couple of little things I would highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely return.

Comments:  Have tried since returning home on 16/09/07 to book for 2008. Seems that Hotel is fully booked just about all year.

This was our first all inclusive holiday and can honestly say we were not disappointed at all, I felt that even a fussy eater could find something to enjoy as there was certainly plenty variety during our stay.

Our rooms were immaculate, thoroughly cleaned every day by the friendly, hardworking guys (another first - never had a male room cleaner on hol) we requested ground floor and even though balcony overlooked the fabulous gardens never had a problem with mosquitoes or cockroaches.

I Had my birthday cards up on the dressing table and when I returned from the Cairo trip at 1.00am the next morning there was a beautifully decorated chocolate cake all wrapped in cellophane and ribbons waiting for me, they had even turned the air-con up to keep it cool!

The bars staff were really friendly and although the glasses are small always made sure ours were always full! The Red Sea Special cocktail was my favourite.

We went on the hotel beach most days, as soon as the guy saw you step onto the beach he found you beds and insisted he put your towels on for you, we lunched at the Ghazala Beach restaurant whilst at the beach - still in the AI, and had some excellent meals there. The only downside was the lack of entertainment at night if you didn't want to go out.

All in all we had a fabulous holiday, well worth the money going All Inclusive and will be disappointed if can't get booked for next year.

Comments:  Just returned from this hotel on 4th October. Spent a week there with my husband and it can only be described as 5 star.

From the minute your coach arrives at the front door to the minute you leave you are waited on hand and foot by the excellent staff.

Food was good always something to eat that we liked, The Italian Restaurant which is also all inclusive was fab (bookings required at night). During the day good choice of food from the restaurants, including Italian and the grill bar for burgers, chips etc. Also you can have as much ice cream as you like from the Ghazala Cafe bar (also all inclusive)

Was a bit apprehensive having read previous reports of stomach bugs etc but can honestly say we never had a problem.

The Mango bar was a great place to relax and have a few drinks, served by Samir and Haytham, they are real characters as are all the staff who are extremely friendly. The drink is plentiful if sometimes the pours a little on the large side.

Not a lot of children around when we went and it was very peaceful around the pool area, however we are hoping to return next year with our children.

Can’t wait to return to this fabulous hotel. If you are going you will love it and the temp in Sept/Oct was 40 degrees + every day and not a lot cooler at night.

Comments:  The Hotel is really nice. Staff are excellent.

Food is not very good. OK if you like Tagin (stew), Chicken Beef Potato Fish every Lunch and Evening Meal. There are other choices but it becomes very boring when you can only have Pasta or meat.

The Bar B Q at the Pool bar is a great option at lunch time. The Beach Bar serves Pasta and Pizza which is very good.

The Restaurant is quite small considering how many guests are at the Hotel. The Waiters are really friendly and nothing seems too much for them. The Lobby Bar is great, the staff there are the best in the Hotel.

Entertainment very restricted, Twirling Man Thursday Nights is good, the singer needs to learn more songs, the Magician is quite good as long as you sit further away.

I was in Sharm when they bombed this hotel two years previously. The security at the Hotel is really good and I was determined to stay there.

Rooms are nice and clean and the Cleaners deserve a medal. Pool attendants are really nice, we tried to put our parasol up, but they would insist that it was their job.

The double Sun Beds did not have canopies over which was a nuisance as there was not any shade and the temps were in the hundreds. They could do with a few more sun beds but we survived. The Animation team are the best that I have met. Francesca and Eleanor were great fun. I played Volleyball and Water Polo nearly every day.

We had great fun with them and wish them all the best.

Overall the holiday was Great. There was an incident when we were there but the Manager dealt with the situation immediately in a very professional manner.

The legal drinking age in Egypt is 21 but one member of staff at the Mango Bar found it funny to serve alcohol to kids. There should be different coloured wrist bands for people under 21. Then mistakes would not be made. That is my main gripe.

The Hotel overall is great and I will return there.

Comments:  If anyone can say that this is a 4/5 star hotel is beyond me. It is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in nearby Naama Bay hotels in the past -next door the Movenpick for instance.

This "tip" is no more than 2 star or low 3 stars. On our first night we were given a room overlooking a side alley and dozens of black rubbish bags. We requested a move and got it, only after the inevitable "tip" required by the check in desk. Being divers we requested an early 4 am call to dive the wreck "Thistlegorm". No call was made to our room; it was only good fortune that we awoke in time.

The beds are rock hard and of an old type, our sheets were white but with the "bobbling" effect of constant washing, the shower wouldn't work, the toilet had a mind of its own when turning off. It was reported, to no avail, nothing was ever done.

Now in case anyone is thinking that I am a perpetual moaner, I am not, this is the first review I have written, and am only doing so to stop other people having the same experience as myself. The hotel is due a good makeover; have a look at the chairs in reception for instance, all threadbare and worn. If you are going to advertise as 4/5 star try and live up to that and tell your reception staff to start being cheerful.

I have only just returned and am still seething at the fact of what a rip off hotel this is.

Comments:  Just got back this morning. Hotel was beautiful, food was ok and I am a fussy eater and found something every meal. Went with my 3 children and husband, none of us were ill.

The only thing I would say is if you go out of season there is nothing for the kids to do. Entertainment was poor but the service was excellent.

The road near Naama Bay is an absolute nightmare; its a question of walking out and hoping they see you. If you just say ‘no thank you’ and walk off the shopkeepers will leave you alone.

It was very hot 38-40 degrees every day and the evening went down by about 10 degrees.

Would go back to the hotel again but with just my husband or in the summer holidays with the children. Would not fault the hotel.

Comments:  Ghazazla Gardens was totally amazing, when we pulled up outside my boyfriend thought wow!!!

The grounds were just out of this world and our room was faultless, would have loved to have been in the ones where you stepped right into the pool!

All staff were very helpful, fatti' the pool guy was a brilliant guy, we talked to him everyday, you do have to tip but it is worth it.

The only things we could fault it for was the food, we were both ill for 2days but went to the chemist and got some tablets and we were fine again. The road outside is a nightmare, you just have to go and hope they stop.

We would def go back to this hotel but would just be wary of what we were eating.

Comments:  What can i say.....the hotel was absolutly gorgeous! We was so pleased when we arrived it was definatly a 5 star in our eyes.
We were given our key and told our room number, which we had great difficulty finding as there are no signs with any directions to help, but we did get help in the end and our room was wonderful too! very large bed, lounge area and single bed, large terrace garden, large bathroom with shower.

The hotel was spotless all the time, staff were very helpful, especially with a tip! a pound or 2 is a good tip.

I did read lots of reviews before i went and most of them said about the same food served all the time and about the upset stomach everyone seemed to get, which didn't worry me - but boy was i wrong not to be! Please read this and take notice - YOU WILL GET DIARRHOEA AND/OR SICKNESS, CRAMPS ETC.... my partner got it first after being there for 3 days, then my little girl, then i had it coming out from both ends, at first we were not sure what we were doing wrong, until we started starving ourselves, then trying a tiny bit of chicken or rice or potatoes, but it soon makes your stomach bad. We lived on packets of crisps, and bread for most of the 2 weeks we were there, we didn't drink alcohol try any cocktails because we were all poorly, so you diffinatly dont get your moneys worth being all inclusive!

We asked nearly every English guest if they were ill and every single person said yes, some went to hospital for drips etc.. Please be careful when eating ANY food, most is not cooked properly or the food has not been kept at the right temperature, hands are not washed much either, and they like to use there bare hands when serving food. Drinks were nearly always served warm too, in that heat it was like drinking bath water.

Naama bay was an experience, the shops look nice when all lit up in the evening, but the locals hassel you like crazy, i went in about 2 shops all holiday, they do not leave you alone its very annoying and makes you walk away - not go in!

We went on the camel excursion, the red sea snorkling cruise, and dolpinella show, they was all great and i would recommend these - but do not eat the food!

The bad things - if you are going or thinking or going to naama bay please be extremely careful regarding food everywhere - even most retaurants outside hotels, money is dirty, locals hassel you, road is a killer to cross!

Good things - the weather is so gorgoeus, very hot I love it, but some find it too hot - approx 45 every day and 38 night time - lovely tan! hotel / pool great and staff.

I did find the bad food a real shame it does spoil your holiday, which is sad as the weather and hotel were great, you pay all that money just to be ill. I would have liked to give this a rating of 10/10....... but this was a big let down for us.

Comments:  I wrote a review for this place earlier last year. I just want to make a little addition regarding the confusion over Ghazala Gardens Hotel and the Ghazala Beach Hotel. Currently, the photo that is in place for these reviews is actually the ghazala beach and not the ghazala gardens.

Comments:  Ignore all bad reports this hotel was out of this world. From day 1 right through to day 14 we all had a great time. The only down fall was the poor entertainment.

All the staff was very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help you especially the staff at little Italy bar and restaurant.

The beach at ghazala hotel was amazing and the massages at the life spa are gorgeous worth every penny.

I defiantly plan on going back and would recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone.

Comments:  I and my partner arrived at this hotel at around 10.30pm. On arrival we were advised that food was available in the restaurant if we wanted to eat.

So we checked in and our cases were taken to our rooms. At the restaurant there was a Chinese buffet with was ok. Waiters asked us if we wanted a drink. When he came back with our 2 lagers, he tipped his tray by mistake and a glass of lager went all over my boyfriend. Very embarrassing. They were very apologetic and my boyfriend went and cleaned off. Poor thing.

We then went to find our room, which was impossible. So one of the staff showed us to our room and said we had a beautiful room. When he opened our door we were quite impressed, large bed and a lounge area.

He opened our balcony door and I now know why he said we had a beautiful room.

Spacious balcony and steps that went straight into the pool! I have never seen anything like it at a hotel.

Anyway, after that he was just sort of pondering about, and we realised that he wanted tipping, so we did, and then asked where our cases were. 2 minutes later, another member of staff arrived with our cases and we had to tip him too. The room was great, never seen a bed so big. We had a TV in a large cabinet and a small fridge in a cupboard.

The bathroom was very big too; the toilet was kind of separated from the bath area with a phone next to it! We later found out that not all rooms were as big as ours.

I think people only get these rooms if there is a special occasion or if you ask for an upgrade. It was my partner’s birthday whilst we were there, so we think this is why we got this room. We saw one of the normal rooms which are still big enough, but the bathrooms are a lot smaller and so are the balconies. The air conditioning in our room was not cold at all. And after speaking to many other people, they said the same.

Housekeeping was everyday and they did a very thorough job every time. We left a £1 sterling every other day and then left 40le when we checked out.

All of the pool areas were great. But if you want a sun bed you need to get up early. I had to set my alarm at 6.15am just to put our towels out, then go back to bed for another hour or two. It sounds sad, but on our first day, we didn’t look for sunbeds until around 9.30am and we only got a couple by chance.

One morning at 1.30am, we were sat on our balcony and saw some people putting towels out! How ridiculous is that? I felt stupid getting up early to put the towels out, but, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. They also had what looked like 4 poster beds on the manmade beach area which was bizarre, but different I suppose.

All of the staff at the bars were helpful, but the drinks they give you are in tiny tumblers which they only fill three quarters full! And they don’t clean them properly. I was getting a drink one day and they quickly put it under some COLD water and then dry it with the same t-towel that they use all day, so this was probably a quick way of spreading germs and illness that everyone seemed to have.

Everyone we spoke to had bad stomach cramps and diahorrea. Then after our first week, it started with me. I was in absolute agony! My partner went to the chemist and got me some tablets. The people in the chemists are very helpful. After a while I felt better, but the smell of food knocked me sick, so I barely ate for 2 days.

The food in the restaurants was very repetitive and I didn’t think it was very nice. On Saturday nights they have "British theme.” There was not one thing in the restaurant that was British. I tried the veal and it was disgusting.

Every 3 days they have a "Ghazala Special Buffet" and all this was, was the left over’s from the past few days! We went out to TGI Fridays twice which was yummy and very cheap. And 2 other nights we booked ourselves in at the "Little Italy" restaurant in the complex. The food is nicer but not much choice. The meals are free but also have ones you can pay for too.

The waiters are much friendlier in there so we weren't begrudged to tip them. You have to make a reservation at this restaurant even though most nights it was only half full.

The food in the day time was a bit nicer. One of the outside bars served fries and burgers and fried chicken. And the little Italy also serves pizzas and pasta dishes (no need to make reservations in the day time). We had spaghetti bolognaise here for our last day time meal and it was probably the best one out of them all. The bolognaise in the main restaurant isn’t that nice.

On my partner’s birthday, there was a knock on the door, so he answered and found 2 staff there with a birthday cake. My boyfriend tried to say it wasn't his birthday and they kept repeating our room number and pointing to a price at the bottom of the cake. He eventually got rid of them. He said he didn’t want a cake and even if he did, there was no way the 2 of us would have eaten it all and there was nowhere to store it.

A couple of days we went to the beach and bought the gear for snorkelling. They have a part of the sea sectioned off for snorkelers and you can see some amazing fish. I have never been snorkelling before and I loved it. I definitely recommend it and to take an underwater camera.

No matter what time you go to the beach, you are guaranteed you will get a sun bed, there's loads free. And you can use the bar to the sister hotel for free drinks if you are all inclusive. The first time we went to the beach there were loads of small purple coloured jellyfish!! But they don’t sting; my partner was picking them up and everything.

Even though they didn’t sting, I still didn’t want to be near them. After that day we never saw them again, don’t know what happened! To get to the beach you have to cross a very busy main road, there's hundreds of cars and taxis constantly hassling you, but we just ignored them. You then walked through the sister hotel Ghazala Beach Hotel.

Didn’t really see much entertainment at night time. But we did have a few shishas. These are fancy pipes that they put flavoured tobacco in. Costs 10le which is just over £1. We had the apple flavour.

The night before our last day, my partner went to reception and asked if we could keep our room on, so we didn’t have to check out at noon. He was told this was not possible. So he asked if there was a shower room and told there wasn’t. When he came back and told me I was absolutely furious. We weren't being picked up from the hotel until 7pm so we wanted to sunbathe around the pool and get showered.

Anyway, we went for tea then back to reception. We were told yet again that we could not keep our room on, but this time, we were told that there would be a place for a shower. I felt better after this and enjoyed the rest of my night.

The next morning, we went back to reception to enquire on where we have a shower, the receptionist said that we cud keep our room on for a fee, so he went to book it for us, then we were told that we couldn't, but told us where the shower room was.

All the shower rooms are, are rooms that people have checked out of the day before and haven't been cleaned. The room we were let in was disgusting. Dirty towels everywhere and messy beds. Awful. But we just got on with it as I didn’t have the energy to argue.

All in all this was a great place to stay and would stay again, the rooms were great, and it was all very clean. You couldn’t go 30mins without seeing them clean something. But I would probably eat at the "Little Italy" most nights or go out of the complex to TGI's or Hard Rock.
