We flew out on the 10th of August the day of the foiled terror attacks so the start of the holiday was a bit rough but we soon forgot about that when we arrived at our hotel. The room was lovely 4 star plenty of space and the best part was the staff they were great. They... more

Great hotel - nice and quiet but close enough to I Drive. You will need a car as no free transport. Staff very helpful at all times of the day, and it is very useful to have the Business room. Breakfast - lots of options and suite superb. Very spacious after budget... more

OK place to stay - great staff!
I would not have picked this place but they offered the govt rate and was close to the convention center where our conference was. This is an OK place to stay. The rooms are fair, clean and provide for some eat in capabilities (e.g., microwave, fridge). The location is good in that you can walk to quite a few quality restaurants. Pointe Orlando which is usually a great place to walk around, shop and eat is under some major renovations right now and is NOT a place to go (don't waste your time there right now). The hotel provides for a hearty breakfast (waffle maker included) and I have to say that the staff is outstanding. This is where this property shines - the staff. The pool is small and not very enticing. The game room and fitness areas are weak. The gift shop provides for the basics but it is some tight quarters! All in all, this is a fine place to lay your head at night. The staff really makes this place and the breakfast is tough to beat. The location is convenient and the price is reasonable. If you think that you'll be spending considerable time at the hotel, give this one a pass. Go higher end and spend more money. If you need a place to shower, sleep and get a solid breakfast - give it a try. You may also find some cookies on the counter in the late afternoon too.
Excellent location
Our main reason for choosing the Springhill Suites on Universal Boulevard was because of its proximity to International Drive and all the restaurants and amenities that the area has to offer. As it turned out, it was almost an ideal location - far enough away from the I4 and I Drive to be quiet enough to get a good night's sleep and yet only a gentle, 4 minute stroll to the nearest restaurant. (Make sure you find the gap in the hedge towards the back left of the hotel, or you'll be wandering around the maze of car parks forever!) The room is divided off into a sleeping area, with 2 queen sized beds and a living area with a sofa bed and desk. The beds appear to have been recently upgraded and, as someone who struggles to find a decent hotel bed, the mattresses were wonderfully comfortable - Sealy, pillowtop posturepedic.... I know, because I'm tempted to buy one myself! The dual headed shower is just incredible and very welcoming after a long day at the parks. Unfortunately the bath isn't long enough for an adult to lie down in, but I'm sure it's perfectly adequate for young children. We were provided with 4 large towels, and 4 small towels, between the 2 of us. I wouldn't really call it a kitchen, but there is a sink, fridge, cupboard space, small microwave and a coffee maker. The room did lack a kettle, but we got by just using the microwave. Also, there is hot water and coffee available in the lobby throughout the day. The rooms have free wired internet access which came in very handy for checking out park hours and restaurant menus; you just need to get an access code from reception. There are also a few laptops in the hotel lobby for customer use and apparently there is also wireless access in the lobby. There is also a 'free' continental breakfast every morning which was ample for us. You are given a choice of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or fruit juices, accompanied by cereal, eggs, sausage patties, muffins (of all varieties) bread and bagels. Ooh and not forgetting the make your own waffles! The only reason I imagine they call it 'free' is that it's very much 'help yourself' and you're provided with plastic plates and knives and forks. The hotel is very clean and well maintained.
fantastic
we stayed at this hotel for14 nights in may 2006. ( 2 adults 4 kids) we go to florida most years and never before have i felt compelled to write a review of the hotel we stay at.this hotel was fantastic. everything from the room to the breakfast to the staff were just absolutely first class.
Average Rooms... Great Service
I recently stayed at this hotel while on business. The rooms were very average in comfort, but were clean and acceptable. The free breakfast was nice... waffles, fruit, juices... it had a nice variety of foods. The on site gym was terrible; however, the hotel will give you a pass to the local YMCA if you ask for a pass. There is no fee and the Y was nice. The Y also has a great swimming pool for those wanting to swim laps. The hotel is perfect for family vacationers. It is not within walking distance of the convention center.
It was fine.
The rooms were fine. The pool is a bit small. The hallway smelled musty. Rooms have refrigerator and microwave. The breakfast is good with great service. Easy access to the hotel since it is NOT on a busy street.
perfect
just came back from a 14 day family holiday, 2 adults 2 children, staying at the Springhill Suites and would highly reccomend it. Its location is excellent, right in the heart of International Drive area yet off the main road so peaceful as well. Coutesy bus service to take you to Disney and a cheap taxi ride to Universal while a short walk to I-ride stop can take you to Orlando's other attractions. Rooms are spacious and well equipped and are very clean, maid service everyday, with good air-conditioning. There is a wide and hearty choice at the free buffet breakfast, however breakfast time at certain times can be a bit of a free for all with no available seats but we would just take ours up to our room so this was not a problem, if your up early there are less people at breakfast. Basic pool, but it is clean and kept at a comfortable temperature. Hotel staff are very helpful. All in all a very clean and decent hotel in an excellent location
A little Gem
Stayed here for four nights Apr 30-May 4th 2006 and was very impressed. The suites are roomy and very clean and comfortable and we had a mini fridge and microwave. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast, which was complementary, was the best I have come across. The choice is fantastic and the quality very good. Tea, coffee and water is available from the breakfast area 24 hours. Internet access is free. The pool area was nice and very clean. It is quite small and there maybe a problem getting somewhere to sit in high season but you can always pop next door to their other Hotel. However, whilst we were there the pool was very accessible. There is a small shop in the lobby area where you can buy essentials. The location is quiet but very central and International Drive is just the other side of Universal Boulevard. There are plenty of shops and resaurants in the area. Would without a doubt stay here again.
Fantastic
Our stay was 12/16 thru 12/18 (2-nights) We are so pleased with our stay. We were able to get a 10:AM check in. We asked for a king bed on our reservation (online) and got it. We were even asked which floor we would like. ( a first at any hotel we have stayed at) Customer Service was the friendly and wonderful. Once in the room we were pleased with the size. (6th floor, room 615). All new and clean. 2 TV's fridge, sink, ceiling fan, desk with internet conection. Bed was confrotable and the pillows were down pillows. Decor was very modern and nice. Then we get to the bathroom......AMAZING! Clean and great size. Shower curtain even has a clear center to let light in the shower area (other places you shower in the dark) Shower curtain rod was bent out to keep curtain away from you as you shower. And then the shocker of all shockers....DOUBLE SHOWER HEADS. After a day at the theme parks...this really helps your back. It was great. We usually stay inside Disney property or in the near area...but can tell you that this is just a 10-15 min drive north on I-4. Not hard at all to get and near International Drive. Will stay here again for sure.
Highly recommended
We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the springhill suites on universal boulevard in orlando. We have nothing but positve things to stay about the place and particularly about the staff there. The location is excellent - at the lower end of I Drive - and the rooms are first class. 2 Queen sized beds, 2 large tv's, lovely decor, an area to relax and a kitchenette. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The rooms are cleaned every day and fresh towels left. The power shower, with 2 heads, is also a very welcome extra. The hotel has a nice pool, games room, small gym, and an ATM. The breakfast was also excellent, with a wide choice of foods, and served between 6.30 and 10.oo weekdays and 7.00 to 10.00 at weekends. Whilst the rooms and other facilities are worthy of praise, the real difference for us was the quality of service. These people would do virtually anything for you. They were all very pleasant and courteous, but 2 people in particular stood out as real assets for this hotel - John and Rafael, both of whom work on the front desk. They were just brilliant. We highly recommend this hotel, and will certainly go back there when we next return to Orlando.
Springhill is great
I rated this above average because of the comp breakfast buffet. Included were yogurt and make-your-own belgian waffles. Staff in serving area were very helpful. They even have nice little bags to take your breakfast and run. The bed was very comfortable. The only thing lacking for me was the availability of a rubber non-skid mat for the bathtub - most other hotels I have stayed in provide them on request. The trolley stop is right in front of the hotel - very convenient. They do have a couple of shuttles a day going to Disney. Staff was very helpful. Needed new batteries in remote; it was taken care of immediately. I was there for business, but would stay there again for either business or leisure.
