I stayed at the Hotel Rio Athens –metro station Metaxourghio-for a week in May 2011 and enjoyed both the hotel and the experience of Athens in the less busy spring season. My family room was very comfortable, well furnished, spotlessly clean and with a spacious, modern bathroom. What you see on the hotel website is what you get. Overall, great money value. The hotel also has a terrace with even better views.
The hotel is well located in the citycenter next to the metro station - also called Metaxourghio - with cafes, shops, pharmacies, banks etc nearby. I particularly enjoyed two meals at hotel restaurant - its delicious modern Greek and Italian food was more interesting than the tourist-oriented places. The area is interesting and safe, with lots of people out strolling until late. From the hotel, you can walk to the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, Omonia square and Syntagma square and the main shopping areas within minutes.The night life area PSIRI and GAZI are very close too.
All the hotel staff I encountered were friendly and very helpful. The room was very well serviced and the hotel breakfast was excellent. The Hotel Rio Athens management and all its staff deserve congratulations. . The hotel also conducts tours and trips in and around the city for visitors. We will be back again!!!

Stayed six nights in the beginning of March 2010 with my family and the hotel turned out to be the perfect choice. A pleasant experience right from the start. Excellent service from check-in to check-out. Quiet rooms with all necessary amenities. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel's at the heart of the city. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The location of the Hotel Rio is great! From the bus/train stops, everywhere is within walking distance. The room was clean. Staff is always on hand to give good recommendations. The bar is a cool place to chill out. Everyone who worked at the hotel spoke English, it made everything easier. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent location in the heart of Athens. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by their friendly staff. The service was excellent; the facilities of the room were plenty. The rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable and very clean. The rooms as well as the hotel were well-designed and well-appointed.
It’s just a short walk to the metro station “Metaxourghio”. We plan on revisiting Athens in the near future and we would not even consider another hotel. Very friendly with pets.

Great location very smart hotel for rating quite simply after running the best and hardest marathon in the world a delight to use the best shower ever! Staff really helpful and about 50m from where the buses pick you up in Karaiskaki sqr. Well handy for all major sites and a short walking distance to Acropolis. The restaurant serves delicious greek and Italian dishes and the café serves the best cappuccino in the city. We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel and we highly recommend to everyone.
