Just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel and would never go back. The bar and restaurant staff were so rude. We had lunch on our second day and thought the restaurant was open until 3pm when in fact it waas 2.45, we were almost finished at 2.50pm (others were still inthere) when we were told to leave, no please or thank you! There are no parasols around the pools and the sun loungers are bear plastic with no adjustable backs. We were not given any information about the complex and although it says on the webthat there is a poolside snack bar we never saw this. It also says that there is Italian show cooking, we never saw this either. The food was very repetitive both at lunch and evening meals and the food that should have been hot was cold no matter what time we ate.
We were all inclusive and the bar opened at 11am and closed at 11pm, we felt we were constantly being watched when using the self-service facilities and as I mentioned bfore the staff were very unfriendly and rude. There was no hiring facilities for items such as hair dryers and irons. Not even the maids were friendly, which is very unusual.
We could not wait to get home and after day 2 were counting the days, which when you have wited all year for a holiday is very disappointing. I would not reccommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly warn people off if they were considering taking their annual break here.
They only good thing about this hotel is the facilities for children and the pools.
All in all very disappointing, never again!!!!!

The hotel is situated on a nice horse shoe bay surrounded by cliffs and buildings. Checking in was simple but we were not told at that point that it was lunch time and that we could go for a meal as there was only half an hour left for lunch we missed the sitting. When entering the supposed family room in Block B, just imagine a normal small hotel room with a set of bunk beds in it and thats what we walked into literally. When the ladder was put up there was no room between the bunks and the main bed to get about the room. However the room was fairly clean with the dirt swept under the beds so you couldn't see it.
On first exploration of the hotel and approaching the bar in block B we asked a member of staff what the procedure was for all inclusive guests and we were given an aggressive clenched left fist with a thumb stuck out pointing over the member of the bar staff left shoulder that the SELF SERVICE taps were in the direction he was indicating.
The pools were over subscribed with not enough beds for the residents. This was partly due to other holidaymakers from the surrounding resort using the facilities which did not leave enough beds for the hotel guests.
The pool was also devoid of any parasols and we were told this was due to excessive winds. However parasols were on sale in the hotel shop!!! and as far as seen none of which blew over during the time there, which included bad weather. They had to be jammed into seats and plastic guttering by guests as there were no bases available to stick them in.
The food was bland and repetitive, just like a school canteen, and there were so many people there cues and people bumping into each other were commonplace.
Entertainment was also bland with a couple of highlights, mini disco for the kids was ultra repetitive.
At the end of the night the bar closed at 11 o'clock and the outside lights were switched off in an implied instruction to go to bed. As an adult used to making my own mind up when I go to bed this was very annoying. If a continuation of the night was wanted then everyone had to go to a local bar, not the best.
When the all inclusive status was taken away at 11 o'clock at night it was not reinstated until 11 o'clock in the morning with the bar area closed denying all inclusive guests access, even to soft drinks and water until opening time. This was great if you had breakfast early and were at the pool for 9 o'clock enduring 2 hours of thirst etc before it opened, but there was a saving grace the hotel shop was open for you to purchase water and other drinks!!!
Very disapointed in the standard and service available at the hotel not worth the money. Never will be back not even if I won a free holiday there, I would give it away and warn the travellers accordingly.

My husband, myself, 2 children(6&10), Mum & Dad inlaw went at the end of June. Our only complaint was that we only booked 7 nights. We will definately be back. The Hotel is clean, staff are very nice, food was well prepared, with a selection to suit any diet(best to go all inclusive- saves a fortune on drinks for the kids). The rooms are small, but how many of us go on holiday to sit in our rooms? Pools are great, kids club every day- honesty, we all loved it!!

Just got back from Aguamarina this morning. What a wonderful place, right on the beach, which was lovely, my 4 year old son saw an octopus in the sea and we saw lots of fish swimming around.
I also have a 16 year old daughter who joined in with the activities at the hotel.
So much to do, the entertainment in the day and evening was great for all ages, the Thomas cook kids club was also brill. My son went to 2 parties put on by the kids club, a chocolate party and jungle party, he also enjoyed the mini disco and watching the evening entertainment.
The pools were great and plenty of food to choice from, staff are friendly and our room was cleaned daily and we were given fresh towels every day.
There are shops within walking distance and a few bars but to be honest we only stayed around the hotel, pool and beach.
What a lovely place.

We are a couple aged 50 and have just returned from another fantastic week at the Aguamarina. This was our "6th" visit to this hotel. We love its quiet peaceful location beside a beautiful small horseshoe shaped beach which is very clean and great for children and can be accessed from the hotel. Hotel is great for young families. The new play area and kids swimming pool has just been refurbished and is looking good. We always pay extra for a sea view in block "A". The hotel is very clean, rooms are cleaned daily and towels are also changed on a daily basis. All staff are very friendly and helpful. Well organised daily activities for both children and adults. Great food with plenty of variety although a bit repetative and they cater well for children. Not much as regards shops in Arenal D'Castell if you like to do a spot of shopping but buses run frequently to Mahon which has a good variety of shops. What a lovely surprise we got on returning to our room on our 2nd night - a lovely bottling of sparkling Rose Wine in ice and 2 champagne glasses had been put in our room - complimentary from the hotel for our custom to them over the 6 years! Only downside of the hotel is the price of drinks - 7 euros for a Magners!

I stayed at Hotel Aguamarina with my sister and out partners. Ages 18, 18, 23, 20. The Hotel its self is very clean although I think is in need of an update. The rooms are very small, very plain, and basic but again clean. There were only two plugs in our room-one being in the bathroom- which was a bit pointless. Maids come to clean your room every day, they worked very hard!
We stayed all inclusive- the food was very repetitive, simple and easy. We found there was a lot of fish everyday. I am quite a fussy eater, and couldn’t really find anything I liked except pasta, which I ate twice a day for a week! There wasn’t a lot of fresh fruit, which was quite disappointing. For pudding there was the same every day, a green jelly, sponge cake with jam on the top, or rice pudding, eugh. The Bar was open from 11am until 11pm. There are snacks in the afternoon- one choice of one sandwich and two different biscuits- kinda rubbish.
The resort was gorgeous though! There were 3 large pools and one small one, which is a whirlpool. Unfortunately this did not work- and we was very disappointed as it looked great in all of the pictures we had seen. The water in each of the pools was very cold- but I can’t complain, as it was nice to have a quick swim to cool down as it was so hot. There were always plenty of sunbeds, the first place I’ve ever been to that you don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn to lay your towels on a sunbed to reserve them. Beware though- there were loads of ants outside which kept crawling on my sunbed and into my bag. I arrived home yesterday and discovered a few bites of my back- ouch! There was a kids club during the day and activities for adults. The evening entertainment wasn’t great every night, but we watched a couple of shows that were good.
In some reviews we read, they said that the Hotel had a laundry service and a wireless connection, but there wasn’t!
The beach was literally a 2-minute walk from the Hotel. There is a small path that runs from the side of the Hotel down some grass and straight onto the beach! It was stunning- the sand was clean and the water was clear. There were sunbeds on the beach as well; we were told you didn’t have to pay for them as they belonged to the hotel- but they didn’t. It was 5 euros for 2 sunbeds and 5 euros for an umbrella.
There were a few souvenir shops around the hotel that sells the usual tat, key rings, fridge magnets ect. There is a Spar and a supermarket where we stocked up on water- as you cannot drink the water in your room.
The bar staff were very friendly- watch out if you ask for an alcoholic drink as they don’t go easy on the alcohol! Unfortunately you didn’t get many drinks free being all-inclusive. You got the usual coke, fanta, juices, water and a few hot drinks- but no cocktails- very disappointing!
I would definitely recommend going to a Bar which is 5 minutes walk up the road. It is called Backgammon. The two main staff Alex and Jose were really nice and friendly and worked very hard!!! They also have a free wireless connection.
There was a tram, which stopped right outside the Hotel and picked people up and took them round the local area. You could chose to get off somewhere for a walk about, or stay on to go back to the Hotel. It was 6 euros each for a return. Would definitely recommend you do this- the views you got were beautiful. There was a market in Mahon nearly every day. We went to one of the main markets that you can get to via bus- which stopped right outside the Hotel. The market was packed and sold a lot of tat- but we got a few little souvenirs.
Wouldn’t rate the Hotel a 3 star + but would recommend this hotel for families, as there were lots of children running around and the Kids Club was always busy, and for anyone that likes the beach and beautiful scenery.

I have just got back from 1 weeks stay on the beautiful island of menorca. i went with my partner, my sister, her partner and my 2 nephews.
the hotel was exactly what i hoped it would be for a 3 star it was way above average.
rooms spotless and cleaned everyday, maid service brilliant.
the entertainment was good for the kids, as we were out of season not much on in the day but the pools and lovely walks round island keep you busy.
the satff were friendly, slight difference in attitudes of staff in the different blocks, howver all staff seemed to be friendly and genuine.
the all inclusive was a bit o hit and miss, were not big drinkers so didnt consume lots of alcohol, food is bufet style and more often than not was cold, however it was tasty and there was always something you could eat. my 7 year old nephew loved choosing his own food and going up for his own ice cream and drinks.
the animation/entertainment team wee great and my nephew loved the kids club.
the island is amazing, the hotel is 2 mins 9steep downhill walk too the oist beautiful cve, green clear waters, we went snorkling and could see fish swimming around. sea was warmer than the pools.
the weather was lovely however gets cold at night, which we enjoyed as it helped us sleep.
we visited the local zoo, which was fantastic 18 e from hotel.
the reps were nice however appeared to have little knowlegde of the island, and told us thewrong bus route however they were friendly.
reception staff were good as were the restaraunt staff.
overall hotel was good but the island was out of this world.
If i was to go again i would hire a car, it is such a small island, 90 miles long by 40 wide i was told, so you can easily cover it in a week, howver bus and trains are not brilliant. our resort arenal, seemed to only have hourly buses into the capatil mahon.
i will def visit the isalnd again, and hotel. hotel is perfect for little ones.

The fact that this was our second trip here this summer should go some way to reassure anyone heading to the Aguamarina that they really have nothing to worry about.
Once again check in was smooth and the room small and simple but spotlessly clean.
Its a valid point that the bar staff are a little brusque but every other member of staff was exceptional. The reception staff are polite and professional and the maids are second to none. The whole complex was immaculate during our stay.
The hotel was at maximum capacity during our stay in the school holidays so meal times were busy but providing you were at the restaurant by 7 our party of 4 adults and 3 young children were always seated together at one large table and never had to queue for more than a couple of minutes. We all found the food to be fine with plenty of choice, try the more typically spanish dishes and you'll be pleasantly suprised. The selection of absolutely delicious fresh fruit available was a definite bonus for our kids.
The area around the hotel is very quiet and the whole place is not ideal for those seeking wild nightlife but suited us just fine. Our kids(aged 6,8&10) LOVED the entertainment, the mini disco has the same songs each night but this simply means they get to learn the dances taught by the entertainment staff. There was a different grown up act on each night, some better than others but dont miss the Beijing acrobats, they were superb.
We tended to go to the beach in the morning and head for the pools about 4pm.The pools were fine but the beach is amazing. The water is calm, clear and safe for children. We spent everyday in the water and only saw 2 jellyfish.Head out from the west side of the bay for some astouding snorkelling.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a Quiet family orientated holiday, but its definitely not for those looking for a wild nightlife. I hope this helps you to decide.

We stayed at the Aguamarina between 12 and 19 September 2010 and after reading the reviews i was a little nervous at staying in Block B but on arrival i was not disappointed. We were in Block B but i can honestly see no difference between the 2 blocks. Block A had much prettier views over the sea and the restaurant was smaller but both seemed to be decorated the same through out! Our room was small but we weren't planning on spending lots of time in there, its plenty big enough for me, my husband and my 3 year old. The room and bathroom were spotless and the maid service was daily and they did a great job. The pool area was clean and safe as each pool had a vigilant life guard on hand to help out if nessesary. As we visited out of the school hols it was perfect for us as the majority of children were toddlers or babies so the pool area always seemed quite relaxed. The beach is stunning and the sea is perfect for playing in, we didn't worry about renting sunbeds so the cost of those wasn't an issue and we were given a parasol by someone who was leaving the resort (theres always lots left behind for you to use before the hotel staff dispose of them!!) The food was lovely and varied each day, obviously same salad and bread option each day but lots of variation on soups, meats, pastas and sauces, potatoes and veg! Breakfast was lovely too with a choice of hot and cold each day! The restaurant was busy but didn't have to queue long at all at the buffet, that may be different during the school hols. The entertainment at night was varied for the adults although i didn't see much of it as our daughter was ready for bed after the disco which finished at 9pm.The childrens disco was perfect, yes the songs were the same each night but that gave the children chance to learn each dance so by their last night they looked like pros!! The bar staff could have been friendlier but they were always very polite to my daughter when she went to ask for her ice cream! They do work very long hours though so not sure i'd be smiling so much at the end of a 10hour shift!!! The entertainment finished at 11pm most nights and then the hotel went quiet which was great to keep the youngsters asleep. The only problem i had was that the corridors were very long and echoey so when loud families were walking back to their rooms, you could hear everything. All in all though a great holiday and would def recommend! We were all inclusive which was perfect for us but i imagine half board is just as good!! ENJOY!!

We,ve just returned from our holiday here and have had a wonderful relaxing ten days. The hotel is lovely with beatiful grounds and the the most stunning views. As we were here just outside of the school holiday season it was quite peaceful.
We couldn't understand where all this A & B block nonsence came from.
We only have two critizisms, and that was the food,it was good quality but far to repetitive, would like to have seen some dishes of different nationalities. And the other was the uncomfotable beds.
We were hb and this worked fine for us as not big drinkers.
A trip into Mahon on the Glass bottom boat is well worth a visit,we caught the bus in , 2euros&10 each way and 10 euros each for the trip, a really lovely way to see Mahon.

Just returned from this hotel, i believe it's the hotels first couple of years in the "all inclusive" basis. From what i heard from previous travellers to this venue it has had an impact on how standards have slipped as a consequence. The hotel is in two blocks A & B we were in A, there's 2 main pools, a childs pool & an "Adult" only pool some sort of jaquizzi thing !!
The location is in a quiet area & the steps down to the beach can be a bit of a challenge to those less mobile !! The beach however is the most child friendly i've encountered, a gentle slope so no depth problems for those who aint strong swimmers.
The quality/quantity of food was of good standard, although be prepared for queues at peak times. My main gripe was the attitude of the bar staff who at times looked like they were chewing a wasp, i know from my own job that at times it is hard to keep up the "jovial" appearance when dealing with members of the public. It's their down right rudeness when applying the 2 drinks per visit rule & the ice cream "allowance" for the kids that irked me, the fact that the AI board has an impact on their "tips" might have something to do with it!!
The entertainment does need addressing, in our week we had 3 dance acts out of the 7 nights ! There are a few local bars, shops & restaurants nearby & some small chidrens play area's (take plenty Euro's tho') all in all i wouldn't have any qualms about a return but i do believe they can do so much more

we booked this hotel one week before we went we were assured there was plenty of amenities it was ideal for couples as there was two couples that went .when we got there everywhere you looked ther were preschool children we only went half board most of other guest were all inclusive the staff werent intrested unless you had magic bracelet on . The actual location of the hotel right on the bay was lovely but there was nothing there Great for children well catered for but if you went to bar for a drink you were only given a paper cup even in the evening . So we had no choice other than a good walk to one of the two pubs in the resort centre every night We had to hire a car as ther was nothing to do in the day certainly would not go back there
