Firstly the pricing for the holiday should be in 4 groups :-
Block A -with a sea view - Most expensive as also includes air conditioning.
Block A with view of road -Second expensive as includes air conditioning.
Block B -Overlooking swimming pool.
Block B -Overlooking dirty car park, above kitchen.
This was the downside as the brochure did not mention the difference between block A & B. We were advised by other holiday makers that we could upgrade at a price. In fact it was practically impossible, as many holidaymakers found out. Block B has no air conditioning , refrigerator or views. This was not mentioned when booking nor was the fact that there was an A block And B block, or that we could upgrade at a price.
We could hire a fan at 3 euros a day, a fridge at about 6 euros a day. Felt let down by the Tour company with a lack of information. The other down side was that the hotel appeared to be over run by ants. Our balcony, overlooking the car parks and delivery bays (deliveries seemed to happen every day at about 7 and were very noisy-especially garbage collectors) was infested by ants, the pillars in the entertainment area were alive with them. During the day we took refuge from the searing heat, on the pleasant 'hill' overlooking the pool in block B - again this was infested by ants. We went to the snack bar in Block A and found this to be infested with ants.
The other thing we noticed about block A was that the apartments, in the main, were 'reserved - or allocated' to Spanish, Italians or Germans. The British were certainly down the pecking order - even notices were in Spanish, Italian and German in Block A -with no English notices. Air conditioning and ants were the biggest down side. On the positive was the entertainment team of Animation -who provide activities for most of the day and should be applauded on their stamina and enthusiasm.
There is also a kids club team which keep the little ones happy. This is an ideal holiday for families or for people that just wanted to sun bathe and relax. The evening entertainment was good with tributes to Robbie Williams excellent as were Queens of the Night. Others featured were Foundations, Bee Gees, Four Tops, Blues Brothers. We went for 2 weeks and found it a struggle to find enough to do to keep us amused. We went on 2 trips - Discover Menorca and Eastern Delight. Basically both took up a day but were not really good value. Discover Menorca started with a trip to the highest point on the island - church run by nuns, went on to a lovely beach for lunch (not included in price),to a cheese factory, Black horses show and ended in a Gift supermarket.
Eastern Delight starts at a gin factory in Mahon (tasting local gin), then a boat trip round Mahon Harbour, then 90 minutes around Mahon, on to a lovely Beach for an hour, on to caves of Xiori and finishing at a Fashion Show. Why? We were shown, and encouraged to buy leather coats & suits valued at between £400.00- £800.00. What is the point of this on a tour itinerary? The tour guide, Derry, made the trip as informative as possible and was knowledgeable but really neither trips were value for money. We found it difficult to find enough in and around the resort to keep us reasonably occupied and interested. Neither of us like overdoing the sun bathing. The beaches that we visited were absolutely brilliant and picturesque -ideal for kids and sun worshipers.
The train was a complete waste of time at 6 euros each. It goes all around the houses and ends up at a quaint little Spanish fishing beach. After spending half an hour you become bored. The other negative was the high costs of everything. The hotel Aguamarina only served 1 type of lager-which is quite rubbish-but charged something like 3.50 euros (about £2.50). The other bars in the area were also expensive. The Outback bar also has the same entertainment (different nights) as the Club Aguamarina.
We also agree with other reports regarding the blandness of the food complete with lack of variety in the desserts. Overall, whilst the holiday for us was relaxing- although became tedious with the lack of local interest or transport to go to different villages etc, we would recommend it to families and people that like to laze by the pool with a drink or two. We will not be going back as the lack of air conditioning, adequate transportation and ants did not leave us with a positive impression.
We would also question the actual positivety and helpfulness of the reps. I really do not know what they do. The welcome meeting was long, boring and generally not informative. A final little quirky thing was that the local children and families appeared to be able to use the hotels facilities free of charge!

Let's start with the positives. The weather was hot, in the mid 30's and the hotel staff were pleasant and courteous. However the hotel itself was poor and is in desperate need of its planned renovation. There is no excuse for a hotel in this climate not to have air conditioned rooms! This alone should prevent it from being awarded 3 stars.
We were also unfortunate in that our balcony overlooked the rubbish bins and as such were awoken each morning by a unique morning chorus!
We were half board. What a mistake! The food was truly appalling, especially that served in the evening. I wouldn't have given it to our dog! Tinned vegetables, tinned fruit and the same unimaginative desserts every single night! To further compound their culinary disasters I cannot comprehend how the hotel, which prides itself on catering for children, has the audacity to switch off the water and coffee vending machines in the dining room. I did speak to the holiday rep regarding my observations but found her to be remarkably unconcerned.
I have read the other reviews and am especially surprised by the person who admits to returning to the hotel for the third time. Me? I wouldn't return for 3 hours. Very, very disappointed.

We really enjoyed Menorca, we had great weather and Arenal den Castell Bay is absolutely beautiful, the hotel was good, plenty of food and good choices, with lots of activities for children to do, there was entertainment on every night which could be rather noisy as the stage is outside near the pool.
There was two pools and another one just for children, also a Jacuzzi, from the back of the hotel you could walk down to the beach which is lovely. The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant, and altogether it was a lovely holiday.
The only down side is the bus service, the buses are non existent on an afternoon and apart from Mahon its not easy to get about unless you hire a car and they should realise everyone doesn’t drive, we would have liked to see more of the island but couldn’t through lack of transport.

Hotel is great for families, not so great for couples. We found it very noisy and walls are like paper. We upgraded from Block B to Block A for 10 Euros a night, which was worth it as you get air-con and a better view.
Food was great if you are a meat eater but awful if you're vegetarian. We lived on salad and rice for a week! And despite the fact we were on half board we had to pay for our own water with meals - something we found bit cheeky. Buffet is a total bun fight. Think getting on the tube in rush hour. People seemed to think it was going to be snatched away at any moment.
Arenal is quiet, but nice. There are some great walks to do along the coast. The pretty fishing village of Na Macaret is well worth a visit. We found a fantastic restaurant called Biosphera that had a great menu which included a selection (no less!) of vegetarian dishes. The wine was lovely and the service was excellent.
Mahon is worth a visit too. The bus service is cheap and direct and the yachts in the harbour are something else! Dream on!
Overall it was an average holiday and I wouldn't rush back to the Aguamarina.

Hotel accommodation was good, no complaints at all. Staff where very helpful, pools where great, and hotel in a fantastic location on the beach.
Beach was very good, but we didn’t go anywhere near the sun loungers on the beach because they cost a small fortune. We went half board and the food wasn’t up to much but we only really ate breakfast and most nights we ate out. Food in restaurants in the area where good.
We where there for 7 nights and area was a bit quiet, only a few bars but there where quite a few restaurants. Hired a car for three days to go and view the rest of the Island. Really worth the money 69 euros. However if you need a child seat be prepared to shell out because these are sometimes more expensive than the car hire itself..
Spent a day in Mahon and we went on a boat trip. Was really enjoyable, bars around the port where good.
Definitely recommend going, but a little to quiet for us.

Very good holiday but very quite the entertainment people at the hotel where great with the kids, they done colouring club in the morning and played games till 12.30 then where back at night dancing with the kids.
The food was ok but after 2 weeks was the same as the week before. The hotel rooms where very clean and there was maid service every day. The kids enjoyed them self and didn’t want to come home. The pools where very big and clean. And the beach is also clean and very nice. The Airtours rep Stacy is very uncaring as my little girl burnt herself on the toaster in the breakfast room when I told Stacy she blamed me even though the toaster was very low and the warning signs are not very good.
If you have a problem don’t see her waste of time. There not a lot to do there but its very relaxing only a few pubs and supermarkets there. But had a great time there.

I have now stayed in the Aguamarina 3 times in the last 2 years! Need I say more!?
The location of the hotel is fantastic, with the beach just a short walk away. There are 2 good sized swimming pools and 2 small splash pools for the younger children. There is an entertainment show on every night within the hotel complex where the children can join in with dancing etc.
There is a buffet style menu where you can eat as much, or as little as you want! The selection of food available is excellent (especially if you are taking children).
Outside the hotel there is a good bus service or alternatively you can hire a car from the hotel through Avis car hire.
The Aguamarina is a must for any couple or family that is looking for a relaxing beach holiday.

I have now been to this hotel 3 times and every time it gets better. I met some wonderful people and everyone was crying on the last day because nobody wanted to leave.
It felt like a dream; sitting on the balcony eating and drinking looking out onto a truly beautiful beach watching the world go by. In the day the entertainers were so alive and energetic organising games such as water polo and mini golf and at night put on a range of amusing spectacular shows, the fun never stops.
Minorca is such a pretty island and I will definitely going back soon.

Was brilliant weather and had a good view from the balcony. Was lucky to be in Block A as had air conditioning! Pools were lovely and the beach was gorgeous! Had a great time. Some of the entertainment was really good, and the reps well lets just say they did try. Not a very good selection on Block A for food for the children. But all in all really relaxing!

Had read reviews before holiday, unaware of improvements being carried out.
Hotel slightly unattractive from exterior, but was very nice as soon as you entered lobby.
Room cramped for four, but very clean. Food simple but plenty of choice and availability. Pools fantastic, no umbrellas!
Don’t buy lilos as everyone leaves theirs at end of holiday. Very relaxing holiday, childrens clubs excellent, especially bonkers babs-airtours. Definately recommend aguamarina to friends and family.
Resort very pretty and quiet-beach excellent. Would return to aguamarina. Check out coves noves - children loved trampolines and dinosaur inflatable!

We were unfortunate to be in the block with no air conditioning as you can imagine it was very unpleasant. You could hire a fan at a small fee but they should give you one free as it is a 3 star hotel.
On the plus side the pools and the surrounding areas were excellent. The food was ok but I believe they needed more choice with the salad. The roast meat was very good.
The drink and food in the hotel was very expensive as there was no competition as the resort is so small. My advise would be is to take a lot more money with you just for drinks and food especially if you have children (with the lollies).
I would consider coming back to the hotel but it would have to be in the better block as they have every thing in it that my family and I would need.
