I stayed here half board for 2 weeks and after 4 days was ill. The food was rubbish if you like reheated food and rubbery meat you'll be fine. Will never stay again the only people who were polite was the bar staff and the maid.

It was amazing! A cafe outside, kids club, 2 pools and the entertainment was great. Really fun. Best time to go is in August! And on Wednesdays the Hippy Market is just up the road not to mention 2 mini theme parks ( bunjee jumping, carousel etc.) I would highly recommend it.

Entertainers are great
The walls in this hotel are paper thin. The couple next door were elderly and we were kept awake every night by the mans snoring, he then had the cheek to complain about the noise my kids were making during the day! Toni and Ana the entertainment staff were excellent and even put on dvd's on rainy days, Ana came in on her day off to do this, she also took us a walk to show us where the best beach was. The food was terrible, I'm a vegetarian and there was nothing I could eat, even the salad and vegetables had bit's of ham, bacon or sausage hidden in them. When I complained to the rep she told me to ask the chef for an omelette, I don't think eating an omelette for every meal for 2 weeks is the answer! The resort itself is quiet and the majority of people there were pensioners. There aren't many bars there that cater for kids, the bull bar along the road is okay but the man that was operating the bull kept trying to chat up my 12 year old daughter and didn't care that she was only 12. The hotel itself was nice and very clean, the pool was good too but as you tend to find abroad, really cold.
small and friendly
We have just returned from a 14 night stay at the Hotel Anfora Playa. This is the 7th time we have stayed there and the 15th or 16th time we have stayed in Es Cana. As you can guess we quite like it there. Es Cana is a small resort, you can walk from 1 end to the other in 10-15 mins, but there are plenty of bars and enough shops to browse around and Santa Eulalia is only a short bus, taxi or boat ride away if you need more. The Hotel is a small family run hotel and because it is small, you may not get all the benefits of staying in a larger place. It has two swimming pools and there is never a problem getting a sun bed at any time of day. Probably our biggest fault with the hotel is the lack of air conditioning, but we hire a fan and that gets us by. The food is better this year, with new chefs but there is not a huge choice of food due to the size of the hotel. The Hotel is always very clean and well maintained but the biggest plus the hotel has is the staff as they are the most helpful friendly bunch you could wish to find, Tony the entertainer is mad as a hatter ,but great fun. Although we go back year after year we have 2-3 holidays a year in other places, but we have not found a friendlier hotel anywhere. If you are looking for a quiet, family orientated, friendly hotel you couldn’t find much better.
Opinion on Anfora and Es Cana
We have recently returned from a week at the Anfora Play / Es Cana...Ibiza in May 2008. The hotel was basic accommodation, rooms were cleaned, linen & towels changed daily. Rooms do not have air condition or fridge to keep drink cool. The hotel has 2 pools, one at the front, one at rear, both were freezing. No problem getting sun lounger. We went on half board basis and found the food to be mostly edible, various dishes to chose from and with it being buffet style, as much as u wanted to eat. The entertainment was not up to much at night although the hotels kiddy entertainers did their job well. The town of Es Cana is nothing more than a little village, short on entertainment with nothing for kids to do. The beach is a little sandy bay which smells terrible at one end from sewerage i presume. We would not return there on hols again mostly because of the "nothing to do" factor. The so called famous "Hippy Market" is a total rip-off. We priced the same items being sold there at more than double the price of same stuff sold in shops. In May it was overcrowded and that was start of season so hate to think what the market would be like in July/August...TO BE AVOIDED This town is for pensioners
Playa Anfora Hotel, Ibiza
The hotel itself is clean and basic and of travel inn standards here. We arrived in the middle of the night where we took the lift to our room. We were given two large bottles of water and a bottle of wine - always helpful! Although no fridge which annoyed me during our stay as hot water isn't pleasant to drink and I like to chil my aftersun! We thought being half board was an added bonus for what we paid to stay here, we prefer eating out but thought we'd give it a go. The food is basic buffet but there's always a decent choice and if you're on a budget you could easily find something to fill you up. Waiter provide drinks (which you pay for) whilst eating. The hotel has two pools, one at the front (which is child friendly) and one to the rear, both pools are clean and it is easy to find a free sun lounger no matter what time of day (and this was in peak august time). There is entertainment for children and adults arranged during the day and evening although, as a couple, we felt this was more aimed at families - along with most of the entertainment. Es cana itself is probably the most british place I have stayed in in spain, most places serve british food (badly) and the entertainment can only be described as cheesy. The hippy market is worth avoiding in August as you can't move for people. Would totally recommend taking the boat (which leaves every hour) to ibiza town where you feel everything is a bit more spanish. You can also hop on the boat to another beach which is fantastic. The boat is very cheap. Playa Anfora served its purpose for us as a cheap break in the sun but we wouldn't hurry back, its like a sunny blackpool
PLEASANT STAY
We have just returned from our Summer hols in Ibiza. It was rightly stated as a 2 star hotel. The Good points were they had a choice of 2 pools with plenty of sunbeds available even when the hotel was full. The staff tried very hard to please you. The child reps were great , at least twice a day there was some kind of activity for the kids to get involved involved in. Food is not one of there strong points it was ok but not much of a choice, the menu was repeated 2nd week. As there was no air conditioning you really need to hire a fan at 2.50 euros a day. The location of the hotel is good, near to the shops and bars, the beach was only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. If you go do the bus train trip in the afternoon, you get to see lots of the countryside and get to visit an old church and a old house which has been made into a museum, then at the end of the trip you get to visit a lovely secluded beach, 12 euros an adult and 6 for a child. The trip lasted 3 hours but was well worth the money. The hotel was worth the mony and would probably go back at some time.
nice hotel
hotel was lovely although it was last wek of season. Not a lot of entertainment but the staff were very good. Pool at front of hotel was ok a little cold as no sun until afternoon pool at backj was nice. Es cana itself was dead as end of season so a bit disappointing. Food brill something for everyone would go to hotel again but not Es cana
Not for kids and evening meal rubbish
when we arrived we had the only child in the hotel with us everyone else was 50+. we didn't feel this was a family hotel. no day time entertainment as advertised in the brochure. evening meal was very poor quality sometimes occuring in having to go and buy meals, there wasn't any food really for children. the bar staff were excellent. this holiday was definately not worth the money we paid for it! would not recommend to anyone or re-visit.
Great Holiday
Went on a family holiday to the anfora playa. Location was excellent. Bar staff friendly, hotel clean, food ok for money. Can not fault this friendly hotel. I shall be returning with my family next year.
evening meal rubbish. infectious pool.
I must say that my family really enjoyed our stay at the Anfora, but the food wasnt great. Breakfasts were fine, evening meals were not. The amount of people there that had ear infections or other infections was an awful lot. This was definately down to the pool at the back. The staff were great especially Janice, Mandy, Kerry, and Jack. For the money we paid it was ok, although some familys paid more than double what we did, they must have been dissapointed. Remember this is only a 2 sar hotel. Rooms very clean, location perfect. Resort Brill.
kids club
The kids club was good for kids there are diffrent times for diffrent ages 3 -6 +7-11. they go twice a day, morning +noon the 7 - 11 year olds go later than the 3-6 year olds . they do diffrent thin gs everyday
