Torremar I & II Apartments Reviews
" Good for a one week cheap holiday "
Submitted By: lobstersteveThe entertainment consisted of water aerobics at 11am (one good reason we liked not having a pool view as it did not disturb us) and various games during the day. The water polo started at the beginning of the week with just the kids but by the end of the week the men got involved and it became highly competitive!
In the evening there was Bingo every night followed by a variety of entertainers some better than others. The night always ended up with Big Box Small Box which was hillarious! and again started the week with just the kids involved and by the end of the week the stage was full of adults.
The staff were generally helpful and good natured apart from the bar man who seemed to have had enough of holidaymakers.
The food was very english with only one restaurant offering spanish cuisine. The surrounding supermarkets were not very well stocked and expensive for ibiza and I couldn't find any meat for sale.
Getting to other parts of Ibiza was very difficult with very few busses and during peak season a lack of cars and scooters for hire.
Even with all the drawbacks we had a great time and would reccomend the place but only for a one week stay and with the understanding that you are not going to get any local culture.
Advice: Book a car or a moped before you go
Activities: Fish restaurant by the sea
Good for: Beach

" wonderful holiday "
Submitted By: annaleighThis year saw the opening of Caseys Irish Bar situated at the Torremar. Pete, his wife Sandra and Rory own and run the bar themselves. They are so friendly and Pete is known as the Pianoman while Rory is the Mean Fiddler. The music is fantastic with a huge selection of Irish music on hand. However the guys will play almost anything on request. This venue is a must for night time entertainment and the bar is open into the early hours most nights.
The kids club is run by Dan and Ali, a wonderful couple who go out of their way to keep the kids amused morning, afternoon and evening. The bar at the complex closes at 12 and then its on into Caseys for a rip roaring night.
The only fault we found with the resort was the lack of buses to the main resorts. They are few and far between and it would be nice to have a lift installed when we return next time for those with buggies and a lot of luggage.
Although the resort is the quietest we,ve ever been to, it was a wonderful holiday and I recomment it for families with young children and couples going away to just chill.

" Fantastic Holiday "
Submitted By: Janice DublinReception was in the balanzat we had four cases and two buggies and got no help to carry them across to the torremar. We struggled to bring them up the 4 flights of stairs as there is no lift which is the only complaint we have.
THE APARTMENT
The apartment had all the basics and was a good size, The cleaning could have been better. There is no A/C but there are fans in the rooms.
THE COMPLEX
This complex had a real friendly feel to it. There are only 45 apartments in the complex so you get to know everyone and you feel very safe there with children. There are two pools one of which is a kiddies pool and a new kiddie pool to be built this may, and a small playground. The bar served snacks. There was a weekly BBQ and Sunday Dinner was really good. The staff in the torremar were very friendly and Gareth the barman was great. There is one washing machine in the complex and to do a wash with detergent cost €5 which was reasonable.
The ENTERTAINMENT
-for the children:
The kids clubs were fantastic Jo and Luigi were great, this was the first family holiday that i got the chance to sunbath, there was colouring, painting, postcard making and other arts and crafts with Jo in the morning between 10 and 1pm. She was brilliant a lovely bubbly person with amazing energy. Luigi entertained the older ones in the mornings with archery and pool games, he was great with the children too and my son really took to him. In the evening there was a mini disco between 8 and 9 and during the week there was a parrot show the children got to hold the parrots. My children would follow jo and luigi everywhere day and night and it never bothered them, they would let the kids sit with them and talk with them even when on their breaks. All my children were crying leaving the resort.
For the adults:
- Elivis, Drag queens and other singers all round what you expect for package holidays, MR&MRS comp. bingo and quizes they both really made our holiday, very entertaining and funny Jo and Luigi again GREAT!
THE RESORT
-Very quiet if your young and livily not the place for you, great for families and couples looking for a relaxing holiday with a bit of craic in the evenings. The beach is lovely great views. The shops are expensive €4 for bread and the same for a small kerrygold, my advice when travelling with children is pack up the cereal, noodles, soup and anything else you can fit into the case. The restaurants around are typical burger chips chicken the balazat was ok. I highly recommend the walk up to the galeon hotel, for €12 adult €6 children all you can eat buffet with a very large selection for all included is wine, beer, soft drinks ice-cream really good food its the same in the san miguel park but not as big a selection, both open at 7 to 9pm they do lunch for the same price
Transport
-It is well worth renting a car as buses in san miguel are scarce, three of a mon and wens, going to and from es canar (where the hippie market is) and Tues and Thurs two going to san antonio and a couple to ibiza town. There are taxis €35 to san antonio.
we hired a car and found it very easy to get around the island as its tiny.
THINGS TO DO IN IBIZA
-Caves in San Miguel
-The old church and folk dancers in san miguel village
-Sunset at cafe del mar
-hippie market
-ibiza town by night, a walk up the strip and see all the drag queens
-if your after clubbing stay in san antonio i recommend the Marina Playa apartments
-water park in playa den bossa
-there are a number of watersports at the beach in san miguel and the quy that runs them is really nice.
there is lots more to do, it is a tiny island rent a car and discover all the hidden beaches theres something for everyone in Ibiza we loved it and cant wait to go back.

" Wonderfull "
Submitted By: callaghan'sWe had an excellent time, my wife and I, our 3 girls, 6, 4 & 3 and my parents,
my father is disabled and unable to walk,
following previous great and horrible holidays we start to compare holidays before we get on the plane, we arrived at half 9 in the evening, found there was a ramp a the entrance, (mainly for suitcases) or a flat path way round the back (full lighting)we got checked in, we also was informed by travel agent there were lifts, which there wasn't, the manager was completley understanding and placed my parent ina ground floor apartment, both apartments were very clean, well maintaned, and very spacious,
as we where half board we was advised that the restaurant was on the beach, we was a little unsure about this but went anyway,
the restaurant was amazing, for half board customers they came our with a little slip of paper with a few meals written on (believe me, you do not want to order from the menu as the prices are very high, but worth it) also if you did not fancy the meals offered, they were more than willing to make fresh what ever you fancied, and the kids meals were also cooked fresh and large protions, also the meals were hot, not warm like most restaurants we have been to in other countries. breakfast consited of ceral if you liked, a full english, (not on their menue) toast, fresh fruit, and a plate of cakes, (they did not mind us taking the cakes with us)
the view from the restaurant was amazing, directly on a lovley sandy beach and out to sea.
there were various water sports on the beach, a ferry to other parts of the island, (the sunset cruise is a must) our kids found at least 5 well maintaned parks around the resort, there are about 3 shops which sell nearly everything you could need, 2 car hire shops and an excursions shop, (much cheaper than reps trips) there is also a disco open till the early hours if you want a dance and don't want to travel half an hour in a taxi,
the public transport is not great, but comfortable,
the enternainment in the complex was excellent , our entertainer was luigi, and a great laugh, the kids loved him, and he never said he was too busy or minded them bothering him at any time,
overall we had an amzing time, we only stayed a week, if you are staying longer i would suggest you hire a car and explore more of the island, we have already booked for next year.

" We had the most fantastic holiday at... "
Submitted By: Mrs N ChapmanWe felt that the resort only had a handful of decent restaurants/cafe bars which was a bit of a let down but we did have more good meals than not. The Sol i Camp was great for a relaxed meal, serving things like local fish, steaks, chicken and pizza's. They also have a park area and crazy golf so our children could play while we finished our meal. The Kiosk on the beach was very good, serving similar food to the Sol i Camp and having a great location. The Balansat restaurant on the beach was wonderful with the added bonus of a fantastic sea view. The paella was gorgeous, the children had really tasty pizzas (they are so big but if you can't eat it, the staff will box it up for you) and we had the best steaks that we have ever eaten. The Balansat restaurant has a reputation for being expensive, but I disagree. We paid around 60 euros for a lovely meal for 4, with wine, whereas we had a meal at an English bar in the resort that cost nearer to 80 euros and, frankly, it was awful.
The island itself is beautiful, so I would definitely recommend you take your driving licence and hire a car. We went all over the place - San Antonio was just what we expected and not for us but I think you have to visit. We were lucky enough to visit Santa Gertrudis when the festival was on. We also made the most of the car and took a drive into the hills around Santa Gertrudis to go horse riding. It was a very gentle walk up into the hills with a lovely view over Ibiza Town, suitable for children over 7 with a bit of riding experience. Closer to San Miguel is Benirras, where we ate a great restaurant on the beach - I think it was Restaurant 2000. While we were eating, we could hear bongo drums on the beach and when we ventured down to see what was happening, we stumbled upon the nightly hippy sun worshiping festival which was amazing to be a part of.
Back in Puerto san Miguel, I would recommend you take a trip on the road train, which takes you around to Portinatx via San Juan. The trip lasts around 3 hours and we very much enjoyed it. Also the glass bottom boat trip is definately worth a try. Although we didn't see many fish, the trip along the coastline was stunning, with views of the smugglers caves. If you want to visit the caves, which we did, you can walk to it from the town. It takes about 20 minutes if you did what we did and take a short cut through the 2 large hotels built into the cliff. If you get the lift up the cliff and walk along the path built into the cliff, you will get to the hotel that overlooks the bay. If you walk to the far end of this hotel you will come to the lift. Take the lift to reception and this brings you out on the road to Benirras. Turn left and after about 5 minutes you will see the sign for Coves can Marca. The tours go every half hour and are worth the walk. I would definatley recommend this resort and the Torremar I and II

Submitted By: Miss A RobertsThe resort was beautiful, with a variety of places to eat if you've gone self catering. The only bad point were that there wasn't a cash point (one in the village, around 4km away) so take plenty of money/visa card to pay at the restaurants. There is also no pharmacy there, but again, there's one in the village.
We saw 3 cockroaches during our stay, none of which were in the apartment or the hotel complex. The Torremar bar does shut early, but the entertainment is mainly situated at the adjoining Balansat complex. although we only saw our Thomas Cook rep once, everything was catered for by the hotel staff, and there are around 3 other companies organizing trips in the resort so price up where you want to go.
For anyone who wants a drink, I'd reccomend visiting the Western Saloon (part of the Thomson complex) across the beach, and then onto Toby's (The Happy Friars). They serve alcohol in a fairly lively atmosphere until the early hours.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay in Puerto San Miguel and we couldn't fault the weather as a heat wave had started the day we arrived! Would definately visit again.

Submitted By: Miss S RobsonThe rooms weren't anything to rave about but i also have nothing bad to say about them either. This was an excellent holiday and despite what coments i read before going said there is not a jelly fish in sight on the beach, but what i thought was the best thing about this holiday was how safe it was. You felt comfortable to just relax and know you weren't going to be bothered, also there was plenty of availability of sun loungers so there was no need to get up at 7am to put a towel on your sun bed.
I recomend this place to any1!!

Submitted By: Miss S BushnellThere is no lift so if u are on the top floor like us it’s a long walk!! And u also have to walk through the hotel it is joined with - the Balanzat, so isn't ideal for ppl who can’t walk far. The location is really nice, the beach is on the doorstep n is a really nice small cove...but isn't ideal if u like lots of choice of restaurants/bars.
There is an English bar up the rd about 5/10 min walk with a really friendly family running it n does yummy food... there is also a pizza restaurant n little beach cafe the food is great but only 4/5restaurants nearby.
The pool is a nice size; n u can also use all the facilities in the other hotel. If you are going with children it’s a really good hotel to stay in, they are always running things like darts, pool games 2 keep the children entertained.
Most of the staff are friendly -esp. des lol. Some of them you need to tell things 3 times to be heard though... when we arrived our toilet was broken n had to tell them 3 times before it was fixed.
If you are looking to go to San Antonio for the night or day its expensive... a cab cost 40euros each way, but there is a bus service that stop outside the hotel once or twice a day that goes there. But overall it’s a really nice relaxing holiday... would recommend it n defo go back!!

Submitted By: Miss V WarehamThe rooms are very basic but adequate and fairly clean. Cooking facilities were a grill a 2 ring hob and a kettle with basic utensils.
Air conditioning consists of a rotating fan in the bedrooms which considering the heat probably wasn't the strongest to make much difference. We found that leaving the patio windows in the bedrooms wide open helped, until the 2 cockerels across the road wake you at 7.30am, a good thing if you want an early start!?
Maids came and cleaned the room with fresh towels and sheets twice in the week.
The pool area is nice with lots of sun loungers and umbrellas for shade. Being the school holidays and lots of children about we found it quite amusing watching Jordan and Suzanna, the kids reps, playing water bingo amongst other games with the kids.
Entertainment for the grown ups wasn't the best to be honest not just at the apartments but throughout the whole of the resort, it's VERY quiet. We ended up playing cards in the apartment most nights and drinking strawberry and lemon slush puppies laced with vodka from the bar!
You really need a car to get about the resort itself as it hasn't got a lot to offer once you've been to the caves and the beach. The bus and taxi service is terrible, you really are trapped if you don't have a car or go on any Reps excursions, unless you want a quiet holiday of course?
The food around the resort wasn't the best. In fact it's pretty poor, even though we stayed self catering we do like to sample the local restaurants howeverl we were very disappointed. Saying that though, if you like sardines for 9 Euros per person, on a Friday night you can go to a locals all you can eat, caught freshly that day, sardine meal right on the beach. Great if you want to sample a locals night.
Other than all that, Ibiza is a beautiful island, make sure you go on the Sunset Cruise around San Antonio and take a visit to Formentera if you love Caribbean style beaches...I'll definitely be going back when i can, even if it's not to stay at Puerto San Miguel.

Advice: A quiet idyllic spot
Activities: make time to go to the sardine bbq on the hidden beach 5 minutes round the side of the cliff.
