Sofitel Athens Airport

This is the best airport hotel I've stayed in. It is the only hotel at the airport, but what a hotel. We arrived on a late flight from London and had an early flight to Santorini the next morning, so there was no way we wanted to waste time going to a hotel in Athens itself. It is incredibly convenient, directly outside the terminal, a one minute walk. My husband and I stayed here at both the beginning and end of our trip to Greece in Sept/Oct 2005. What a relief to simply cross the street from the airport and enter a beautiful hotel at the end of a long trip from San Francisco! After taking what might have been the best showers of our lives (the bathrooms are beautiful, with granite counters, unique fixtures, great overhead showers and a separate bathtub), we enjoyed munchies and drinks in the bar. We have stayed at the Sofitel at Athens Airport 4 times over the past 2 years. It's pricey but worth if you are awaiting a flight -- perfect place to catch up on sleep and pamper yourself - completely sound proof rooms with a window shutter that will block out ALL outside light. The beds are incredibly comfortable; bathrooms are luxurious; service was very good and food in the restaurant has always been great. It's a 1-minute walk across to the airport. Stayed here just one night in August 2005 in order to catch a very early flight out of Athens. Perfect location just outside the terminal. On arrival, our room's electricity didn't work...but they corrected the problem within 5 minutes by bringing up new keys quickly. Beautiful decor and one of the prettiest bathrooms I've ever seen in a hotel. Breakfast buffet was fine and opened at 5 a.m.
