Submitted By: Mrs J WestThe apartment was basic but clean with a small welcome pack of dishcloth/scourer and small washing up liquid, and in the bathroom there was a small shampoo conditioner soap, tissues and shower cap. The cleaner came to our apartment twice and changed the towels, gave us some more bin liners (you have to empty the bins yourself - this is not a problem as the room for bins is on the way out of the apartments anyway). When the cleaner came we happened to be in on both occasions and I asked for extra loo roll and this was no problem. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The beach was great, beds available at 4 euros, showers and loos on the beach! We also watched a beach cleaning team that clean the beach each morning!
We personally didn't like Salou - way to busy and touristy, but great if you like lively and plenty of night life.
We preferred Tarragona, if you want a bit of culture the old town was fab. The Cathederal is a must see, the streets around this are cobbled and pretty and some good street cafe bars. The Mediterannean promenade on the sea front was worth searching out. We also went round the art gallery (which is Free and had the cleanest loos I have ever been in!!)
We found some great restaurants off the beaten track - try down some of the back streets around the apartments. One of the better ones along the main drag on the front (heading towards the Aquapolis water park) especially for Tapas was Taps restaurant on the corner just passed the water fountains.
We had some good weather and enjoyed our stay here.

Submitted By: Mr M SmithAs the place is centraly located among other holiday places plus residential, it can get a bit noisy at night till around midnight. Another reason i wouldnt bring young kids. There are plenty of different places to eat and drink - The Waterfront being a good one at the far end of town. A better one for us tho, was a little place just around the corner called the The Three Barques. This is a traditional spanish place - and cheap! You can also get a bus into nearby Salou for about £1.50 - which is a bigger place altogether. We didnt try the food, but there was plenty of others who did. Neither did we use the pool - which was clean, but the beach was just over the road, anyway.
All in all, it wasnt a bad place to stop for the money, tho i wouldnt go back personaly. We may or may not have got it on a 'good day', as i havent a single real complaint about this place - but you can only review as you find!. We basicaly 'got what we paid for'. I have a sneaking suspicion that some earlier reviewers paid for Two Star - and expected Four!

Submitted By: Mrs D JamesonIf Thomas Cook want to maintain a good reputation I suggest they give these apartments a wide berth.
We found that La Pineda catered for the French a lot more than the English as many restaurants didn`t have English menu`s. The nicest place we found to eat and the friendliest was the Victoria run by asians. La Pineda was a nice place with a beautiful beach but we will not be returning to the Cye Marina Apartments again.

Submitted By: Ms K SmithFound bar at apartment quiet but staff were quite friendly. Alright for basic English fare first night first breakfast or snack. Drinks reasonable. Sky sports.
Room requested was quiet room with sunny balcony, reception was very helpful offering a choice. Ended up with top floor end of corridor apartment which was ideal. No noise from clubs/bars but some passing noise & neighbours after 11.
Room was basic but was a 2 star apartment. Very happy with the services provided like towels being changed, bed linen found an extra set in wardrobe, extra toilet roll from receptionist! Cleanliness & maintenance very good.
Used saucepan to heat water for drinks. Tea-towels & basic welcome pack provided (scourer, j-cloth & mini washing-up liquid).
Reception was able to give good general knowledge, especially information on 'bus plana' bus trips & they sell some tickets there. bus plana being a local bus company. Buses run very frequently a short distance away from cye marina along the beach road.
Places to eat; highly recommend 'the waterfront' near la pineda's water park for high quality British food, 'Restaurant la gavina' for top notch 'fruits de mer' in Cambrils fishing port opposite yachts also on last day 'Bar europa playa' for churros & porros dipped in liquid chocolate which was close to apartment along the beach road opposite direction to main resort.
Booked Montserrat with rep fantastic day out for culture lovers. Inland, mountains, panoramic views, museum, basilica, monastry.
i hope you find this review of some help :-)
" I have just got back from a week in... "
Submitted By: Mrs L. SmithWe were very pleased with the apartments and the staff. They were clean and well equipped and we loved the pleasant small town of La Pineda and the kids just got a bus to Salou when they wanted something more lively. We got there on the Sunday and the pool was cleaned on the Monday. By the Thursday it looked like it had a film on top and thousands of flies and sand at the bottom. We asked when it would be cleaned and the life guard said it was only cleaned on Mondays, we thought it should have been cleaned at least every other day. However, the beach was very close so we just went there instead. Really nice beach with soft clean sand.
We went to Barcelona and football stadium with the local bus company for about half the price Thomas Cook were charging for the same trip. We had good weather all days apart from one day heavy rain in Barcelona.
The meals in the hotel bar were very reasonable and enjoyable and there were lots of places locally to eat.
There is a good market in La Pineda on Friday and one on most other days in various nearby towns.
I read on this website that they had no kettles in the apartment so cleverly took my own with an adaptor and then forgot to pack it to come home! When looking round the room you don't tend to think "I must pack the kettle". Take English teabags as they are very expensive out there. Lots of nearby supermarkets with fresh bread baked each day.
On the last morning we went to get our deposits back and hand in keys at 8am when the reception was meant to be open. The coach was due at 8.10. There was no one in reception until 8.20 but thankfully the coach came late so I recommend anyone else to collect their deposits the night before they leave to avoid last minute panic attacks.
I would definitely go back to La Pineda. It is uncommercialised with lots of
Spanish people living and holidaying there and is not a bit like Benidorm etc.

Submitted By: Miss L HoeyI thought that the apartments were a reasonable size and they got cleaned twice in the week we were there, there was enough clean towels and a lot of toilet roll. There were cleaning materials in the apartment so you could have mopped & brushed the floor yourself & gave it a general tidy, there were clean bed sheets in the cupboard in the bedroom as well.
There was no kettle but I used the metal jug just to heat my water and was able to have my cups of coffee!
You have to pay 60euro when you 1st get there, but you do get it back last day!
The pool was an ok size but it was freezing, kids loved it though! There was a lifeguard on hand as well, the sunbeds were good and you could have been shaded if you wanted.
Only downfall was La Pineda was a bit out from Salou where it all was happening, La Pineda was quieter (think it was the time of season) there were a few clubs which were closed though, bus from Salou back to La Pineda ended at 11.45pm so you had to grab a cab home costing around £8.
I wasnt worried as it was a chilling holiday and a week away from home & off work!
We are thinking about definitely going back for our winter week this year!!
