we have just come back from cye marina appartments and found they were VERY basic ! we were there for 7 nights and seen the cleaner once and then she never cleaned our room just give us 1 roll of toilet paper! cooker in our room never worked and fridge wasnt up too much either. rooms were very warm at night and had to keep windows open and ended getting bitten quite a lot through the night!Pool was basic no entertainment. bar and restuarant no longer open so had to go to shop for refreshments etc on the upper hand good location easy to get to beach shops etc within minutes and bus service very good to get to theme parks etc to sum if your looking for just a bed to sleep in then cye marina aint too bad

The hotel itself was very basic the rooms were a good size but very warm as there is no air conditioning, entertainment in the hotel is zero there is a bar but it is also a sweat box very like a green house. Are rooms were never clean are the bed sheets changed if u like ants in your room this is the place to go. Toilet paper is a problem your better buying your own as they don't give u any and when u ask for one at recepition u get one but u feel as if your asking for something really expensive as the girl beside me with a family of 5 only got 1 and was told to use it first. The swimming pool is small and the seats there are just plastic and they lie flat there is no adjustment in them very uncomfortable. it does'nt really get the sun at all if u went with a family and kids u would find it hard to keep them occuppied. Overall i would never go back to these apartments again i advise you to look else where.

We went from New Zealand to England for the Summer, We hadn't planned to go outside UK but due to the horrid weather we got a very late deal, for the Money we paid we were expecting something very rough. We were happily supprised, the Apartments were incredibly clean, in fact cleaner than any I had stayed in before. We didn't know about the pool because we spent all day at the beach, the fantastic 2 minute walk to a wonderful beach. If you want cheap and clean that's close to the beach and all you are really going to do there is rest your head then this is the place. We'll be back.

We went to the apartment. very clean. maid service was great.
as many clean towels as we wished.
friendly staff
clean pool
goodbar
shops close by with friendly staff
only issue was the beach.. the sunglasses sellers and the masseurs constantly bugging you as you try to relax on the beach.. best answer is go away. any other chat just encourages them.
well reccomended to stay at cye apartments

We cannot complain about these...

We cannot complain about these apartments. Unfortunately due to the collapse of the Company XL we lost our holiday and so had to find an alternative fairly quickly. It wouldnt have been our choice of holiday, however saying that we found the Cye Marina a good central place to be.
The apartment was basic but clean with a small welcome pack of dishcloth/scourer and small washing up liquid, and in the bathroom there was a small shampoo conditioner soap, tissues and shower cap. The cleaner came to our apartment twice and changed the towels, gave us some more bin liners (you have to empty the bins yourself - this is not a problem as the room for bins is on the way out of the apartments anyway). When the cleaner came we happened to be in on both occasions and I asked for extra loo roll and this was no problem. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The beach was great, beds available at 4 euros, showers and loos on the beach! We also watched a beach cleaning team that clean the beach each morning!
We personally didn't like Salou - way to busy and touristy, but great if you like lively and plenty of night life.
We preferred Tarragona, if you want a bit of culture the old town was fab. The Cathederal is a must see, the streets around this are cobbled and pretty and some good street cafe bars. The Mediterannean promenade on the sea front was worth searching out. We also went round the art gallery (which is Free and had the cleanest loos I have ever been in!!)
We found some great restaurants off the beaten track - try down some of the back streets around the apartments. One of the better ones along the main drag on the front (heading towards the Aquapolis water park) especially for Tapas was Taps restaurant on the corner just passed the water fountains.
We had some good weather and enjoyed our stay here.

We went to these apts with some...

We went to these apts with some trepidation, after booking BEFORE we'd read the reviews! I have to say, we were pleasently surprised. They were very clean, basic, and handy for the bars and restaurants. The 60 euro deposit did stick in the craw, but we knew it was coming. And, we got it back the day before we left, so we could spend it! There were just the two of us, but i can see how they may get cramped with a family staying in one. I personaly wouldnt take my kids to this place, for no other reason than there isnt much for them to do. Also, in the heat of summer, having no air-con, i could see it being unbearable to sleep - which doesnt bode for a happy time if you are all up half the night. The rooms were cleaned twice a week - and we had more loo rolls left than you knew what to do with. Reading some of the reviews here, i can only assume some people were eating them, to end up running out all the time! There were plenty of bedding and cutlery/crockery. And, you do have to hire a kettle, but as others suggest - you can heat one of the pans. You can hire all sorts at this place, which leaves me to think that this is the only way they can earn any money - the Travel Companies taking the lions share of your money - which ive come across before. Im also guessing, that because the budget end of the market this place sits, i can see how having 'undesirables' in the next apt. could mar your stay. We had one such family for just the one night at the beginning of our stay, which may have had me writing a different review after a week living next to them!
As the place is centraly located among other holiday places plus residential, it can get a bit noisy at night till around midnight. Another reason i wouldnt bring young kids. There are plenty of different places to eat and drink - The Waterfront being a good one at the far end of town. A better one for us tho, was a little place just around the corner called the The Three Barques. This is a traditional spanish place - and cheap! You can also get a bus into nearby Salou for about £1.50 - which is a bigger place altogether. We didnt try the food, but there was plenty of others who did. Neither did we use the pool - which was clean, but the beach was just over the road, anyway.
All in all, it wasnt a bad place to stop for the money, tho i wouldnt go back personaly. We may or may not have got it on a 'good day', as i havent a single real complaint about this place - but you can only review as you find!. We basicaly 'got what we paid for'. I have a sneaking suspicion that some earlier reviewers paid for Two Star - and expected Four!

I was pleasantly surprised by these...

Sep 2008, Miss A Baines

I was pleasantly surprised by these apartments having read mixed reviews. The apartment itself was spacious and although quite basic was more than adequate for a week's stay. We had a room overlooking the back of the complex so it was quiet, we did not experience any noise from neighbouring bars/restaurants at night. The cleaners came round several times during the week and asked us what we needed i.e toilet rolls, towels, bed linen etc, which was ideal. On arrival at the Cye Marina we were offered a choice of rooms and found the staff to be very helpful and friendly at all times. There is no kettle in the room which was a bit disappointing but apart from that I could not really fault the place. The pool is clean and there are plenty of free sunbeds, but no umbrellas to provide shade. All in all we enjoyed our time in La Pineda, and would not hesitate to return to Cye Marina.

We have recently returned from a one...
1 / 10
Sep 2008, Mrs D Jameson

We have recently returned from a one week holiday at the Cye Marina Apartments we were so glad we only booked one week. The bed linen on one of the beds was stained and on the other bed the sheet had holes. we are a family of 4 but we were only given 2 bath towels and had to ask for bedding for the children we were given one set and had to re-ask for another. Half way through the week we kept on thinking the cleaner might come today to empty the bins, change bedding and towels and to give the room a sweep, when she did finally come she left 2 towels and emptied the kitchen bin but didnt bother with the bathroom bin which was full. The floor was dirty so I ended up cleaning it myself (not something you expect to do on holiday!) On our last day of the holiday the rep posted a note under the door to ask us to tidy the room on our departure and to have it ready for the next guest so obviously the maid wasn`t going to be doing a right lot!!
If Thomas Cook want to maintain a good reputation I suggest they give these apartments a wide berth.
We found that La Pineda catered for the French a lot more than the English as many restaurants didn`t have English menu`s. The nicest place we found to eat and the friendliest was the Victoria run by asians. La Pineda was a nice place with a beautiful beach but we will not be returning to the Cye Marina Apartments again.

My family spent the last week of July...

Aug 2008, Miss J Byrne

My family spent the last week of July here. Accommodation was basic, but we didn't need anything else. we basically slept there. Too busy off doing things. The staff are very friendly and helpful. and as for La Pineda itself...we hated leaving. It's just lovely. You've got Aquapolis Water Park right in La Pineda. Port Aventura just 10 minutes away by local bus {which comes every 15 mins and operates 24 hrs}. And Barcelona just 1 hour away. Pefect Holiday!!!!
