Argyro Apartments Reviews
" Myself and my husband have been... "
Submitted By: Mrs Beverley Keany
Myself and my husband have been coming to this hotel for the last 8 years, till his sudden death in 2005. We have never had any problems as the staff are very friendly and polite and the apartments are kept clean as is the bar area and pool. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
The Olympic rooms are more basic than the First Choice ones as they will not pay to have them upgraded so don't blame the hotel owners, blame the travel company. I have stayed in both and was right next to the road and never had a problem. I returned in 2005 to scatter my husbands ashes on the beach and was very impressed with the level of concern the staff showed me. I also returned in 2006 alone and was greeted like an old friend.
The village is a bit away if like me you cant walk very far but for 5 euros approx 3.50 you can have a door to door taxi service. It is worth not being a skinflint to arrive in the village for your evening meal not all hot and bothered after you have gone to the trouble to get dressed for the evening.
The apartment is by far the best in the area and I have studied many around there and can say this hand on heart. I fully recommend them every time. My friends came in May with me and they had to stay at Golden Sands, but spent most days round our pool at the Agyro as they preferred it by far.

" It’s the luck of the draw with this... "

It’s the luck of the draw with this place, or at least the company you travel with. To be allocated one of the best rooms, you definitely have to go with First Choice - new, nicely decorated, all air conditioned and away from the road. Do NOT go with Olympic, you’ll get a tatty ground floor, hot, badly furnished hole like we did - right next to the road! We knew Olympic guest always get the poor rooms - their paperwork has been stuck to the back of the door for sometime!
The complex itself is nice but quite a walk from the village, which has some lovely restaurants and very friendly people, unlike the family who run the Argyro. There’s a great bar on site but you can easily feel like an outsider once the "clan" settle themselves in for the night!
Prices at the bar not bad - may differ depending on who serves you - check your change!
A MUST is to visit the water park in Faliraki - amazing if you’ve got kids (or even if you haven’t). Don’t spend money on trips through your rep- public transport is cheap (although times can be erratic) and boat excursions cost a fraction of the price if booked direct at Rhodes harbour.
